Creating your first LiveCycle ES2 Application

Got about halfway done with the tutorial and realized that it requires LiveCycle Output ES2.  That is an optional component that we don't have.  I would assume many others don't as well.  Did anyone catch this fact before now?  It is not documented in the document as required, but the services you have to configure do indeed require it.  Thoughts?
http://www.adobe.com/go/learn_lc_firstApplication_9

Hi Eric,
You are correct. The Output service is required as listed on page 5 "Installing a LiveCycle ES2 server". It mentions that you need Adobe LiveCycle Output ES2 and Adobe LiveCycle Process Management ES2 to complete the tutorial. If you have access to the server, run the installer again and select Output ES2 in the LiveCycle Configuration Manager. H
Hope that helps!

  • Creating your first application

    Hello,
    I've downloaded manual "Creating Your First LiveCycle® ES
    Application". I was following all the instructions there,
    but when I try to start process in workspace I get an error:
    An error occurred creating the form (task 109, form 0). (ALC-WKS-007-040)
    Does anyone else have similar problems or this app. works fine?
    any experience?

    I think I found the solution for this error.
    In a Workbench ES we can create forms, and those are 2 kind of forms:
    1) Adobe XML Form File (XDP)
    2) Adobe XML Form File (PDF)
    When I create a process and for initForm variable I chose an XDP form then I can not view the form in Workspace, and I get this error ALC-WKS-007-040. If in initForm variable I chose an PDF form then I
    can see the form in workspace!!!!! :-)
    But now I get to another problem ;-( Which type for the initForm variable should I use? I think I can not use for the type xfaForm.
    I mean I've tried, but then even a simplest process (for example to submit the form to another user) is not working. I mean I can not submit the form.
    I'll try to describe the process I've created:
    I've deployed 2 components, first one is SetValue (Start Activity), and another is User component. I've created variable initForm, selected REQ., IN, OUT, as a type selected xfaForm, for the Template URL selected the PDF form.
    At the user component, I've selected a user from Def.Domain (apink), and at the FormDataMappings tab I've selected the initForm as Input form variable, and Output form data. Also I've tried with different values at these fields but still it is not working!
    Do you have any ideas?

  • Creating your first AIR application for Android with the Flex SDK

    This question was posted in response to the following article: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/air/build/WS901d38e593cd1bac25d3d8c712b2d86751e-8000.html

    The name of the self-signed cert that is generated in the "Create the APK package file" step is sampleCert.pfx, but the name of the file in the next step is sampleCert.p12. This should be fixed.

  • Creating your first website – Part 3: Adding content to pages - insert/formatting...

    text using split view and typing in a Return in Mac OSX right after the end of the text you want to make a header out of does not create an end paragraph in the code view for me. It does create a CR LF in the code view but not an end paragraph tag (</p>).
    I had to go into the design text to create an end paragraph in the code view.
    Also putting the cursor on the heading "Inside Tesla Mortors" and clicking on heading 2 from the properties format list creates a <h2> </h2> line right below the text and in Design view there is at least two extra lines created. None of this is going like your tutorial said.
    Any ideas?
      Dave V.

    I seem to be able to work in Design view just fine but the tutorial shows that I'm suppose to be in code or split view.
    You're supposed to be in Spilt View.
    Split View (Split Vertically) - working in Design View on the RHS and observing - learning - what DW does in Code View on the LHS.
    Here is the screen print of some of the text in his tutorial that shows code view not Design view. I'm confused.
    Yes, I've seen the article
    http://www.adobe.com/devnet/dreamweaver/articles/first_website_pt3.html
    The screenshot shows Split View - not Code View.
    Work in Design View on the RHS of Split View.

The conductor works in close cooperation with the gripman,  operating the brake at the rear of the car to prevent it from running  out of control on the downward slopes.</p>

  • I would like to start the "Creating your first website by David Powers," tutorial again from scratch. How do I delete what I have now?

    Or I am unable to see the website when I activated Dream Weaver that I have worked on so far. I am confused. Can someone help?

    Not sure what you mean about being unable to see the website when you activated Dreamweaver, but the simple way to start the tutorial from scratch is to delete the files. Then replace them with a fresh set from the download zip file.
    You can delete the files in the Dreamweaver Files panel. Alternatively, use the Windows File Explorer or the Mac Finder.
    If you want to delete the site definition in Dreamweaver, select Site > Manage Sites. Select the site in the list that appears, and click the minus button at the bottom left to delete the site from Dreamweaver. Note, however, that deleting the site definition does NOT delete the files or folder that you created. It simply removes the site definition from Dreamweaver.

  • In FF5.0 this Tab Groups feature doesn't work: "Once you've created your first group, the Tab Group button will be added to the right end of the tab strip to give you a one-click way to get back to your groups."

    The sentence in quotes in my question is from the instructions under "What are Tab Groups?" (Redirected from "What is Panorama?")

    Thank you cor-el. I had tried that but the icon wouldn't go on the tab bar. Now it will.
    All this may be me, but I still suspect FF5. For WHY did it not happen automatically, as the help page indicates?
    Sorry, only just got back to click Solved, as the icon is now where it's supposed to be. The icon I got from the Customization window before was useless on my cluttered toolbar, and I thought the only way to get it to appear on the tab bar as advertised was to remove it completely and see if it appeared in the right place after a reboot or something. I think we're probably still at the stage where we have to settle for ad-hoc fixes of the mercurial behaviour of new versions.

  • Initial View is disabled on a Form created in LiveCycle ES2

    Hi,
    I am trying to change the preferences using the Initial View tool in Acrobat.  I want to set it to open with bookmarks visible.  However, the entire initial view page is disabled for me.  The PDF is one that I created myself using LiveCycle Designer ES2.  I am using Acrobat Pro X.  Why would this functionality be disabled?
    Thanks,
    Nicole

    Thank you for your link. Unfortunately, I am not a developer and that was like a foreign language to me.  Is it possible to accomplish the same from a LiveCycle menu?
    The view of a document can be set in manifold ways in Acrobat/Reader.
    If single page, 2-up continious, with bookmarks panel, fit to width etc..
    A lot is possible, but only with the menu.
    JavaScript enables control of all these things from within a XFA-form.
    Therefore the properties of the viewState object are used.
    overViewMode controls the panels and full screen mode.
    pageViewLayoutMode controls the page layout.
    pageViewZoom controls the zoom level.
    pageViewZoomType controls the zoom adaption to the application window.
    This properties can be changes through a button script or the docReady:event of the form.
    So you're able to control the initial view of the form.
    event.target.viewState = {overViewMode:3};
    event.target.viewState = {PageViewLayoutMode:1};
    event.target.viewState = {PageViewZoom:0.75};
    event.target.viewState = {PageViewZoomType:1};

  • IB isn't aware of my classes-- "Your First iPhone Application"

    I'm trying to follow the "Your First iPhone Application" tutorial. I run into trouble on this page:
    https://developer.apple.com/iphone/library/documentation/iPhone/Conceptual/iPhon e101/Articles/chapter5_section4.html
    The text field does not autocomplete to "MyViewController" nor does it appear anywhere in the list in the dropdown menu. I have called the project "tutorial" and "tutorialAppDelegate" does appear in IB's dropdown menu; I don't know if that tells you anything.
    Do I have to do something special to make IB aware that that class exists? I think IB has changed somewhat since the documentation has written because in mine, "View" is called "Custom View," and I have a fourth icon called "Application".

    I'm afraid that doesn't really help at all. It tells me that I need to do what I am already trying to do:
    1. Create a new nib file using the Cocoa Touch View template and configure it as follows:
    a. Set the class of the File’s Owner proxy object to the class of your custom view controller.
    b. Connect the view outlet of the File’s Owner to the view provided by the template.
    I know that I need to do these things; what I don't know is how to get the GUI to let me. Do I need to put MyViewController in a specific part of the project in XCode? Do I need to flag it as a useable class somewhere? Could I have left out an option somewhere when I made the file?

  • Your First iPhone Application Keyboard Won't go Away

    I followed the Document "Your First iPhone Application" Right to the letter and no matter how much I start at this code and the linking in the interface builder I can't figure out why the keyboard won't dismiss with the done button
    I put a break in the following code and it's not even getting launched when done is pressed
    - (BOOL)textFieldShouldReturn:(UITextField *)theTextField {
    if (theTextField == textField) {
    [textField resignFirstResponder];
    return YES;
    Anyone have any ideas on what I should check? Everything else works in the program.

    MyViewController.h file contents
    #import <UIKit/UIKit.h>
    @interface MyViewController : UIViewController <UITextFieldDelegate> {
    UITextField *textField;
    UILabel *label;
    NSString *string;
    @property (nonatomic, retain) IBOutlet UITextField *textField;
    @property (nonatomic, retain) IBOutlet UILabel *label;
    @property (nonatomic, retain) NSString *string;
    - (IBAction)changeGreeting:(id)sender;
    @end
    I think this is what you are referring to. Also in the Interface builder I have the File's Owner class set to MyViewController
    I'm so confused I've felt like I've gone through the booklet 3 times threw trying to figure this out. If I can't get this keyboard to go away there is no way i'm going to be able to build a complex app

  • Avoka Create User Create Group installed with LiveCycle ES2

    I've just noticed that the Avoka Create User Create Group service got installed along with the Adobe services when I installed LiveCycle ES2.  Has this component been licensed by Adobe on behalf of their users?  I see that the Avoka web site indicates that while you can use their components freely for development and testing, they want money before you can use them in production.  Does this apply to the Create User Create Group component too?
    I'm thinking of using this in a solution for a customer however I don't want to incur licensing costs on their behalf.
    Regards,
    Rob

    Hi ,
    Rob is right when you go through step by step instruction one of the step mentioned as:
    "Configuring the sample:
    Note: Before configuring and running this sample, it is necessary to deploy and run the Sample Setup Utility."
    The LCA file mentioned (Adobe-Samples-SetupUtility.lca)  has different Avoka components, services, process which get deployed during this step.
    and the code for Avoka component is not provided ( see AvokaComponent.compjar com.avoka.livecycle.createLocalPrincipal.CreatePrincipleService.class)
    May be it is helpful to have one sample (that just depends on all components and modules from Adobe only )  that shows how this task can be achieved without using  'Sample Setup Utility'. (java / orchestration that calls differnt service and produce same exact result that 'Sample Setup Utility' does)
    Thanks

    Well,
    it's up to you. The first part (Mcit-Project-ViewController-context-root) is the context root which you define in the view controller project. 'faces' is the name the servlet filter reacts on. You can't omit it but shorten it in web.xml. The rest is your directory structure. I'm not sure how to shorten this other as to move the jspx files back into the web root folder.
    By the way an ADF faces app never uses the .jspx at the end of the url. If you specify '.jspx', you only render the page but don't start the work flow.
