Creation of an installation wizard

I am making a java application and I want to deliver it to my friends. I would like to have an installation wizard that checks if you have jre, if not it installs it and then it installs my application. I guess there is a simple way to do it but I've never done it.
Can anybody help me?
Thanks

Take look at zerog's Install Anywhere product. THere is a free download available.

  • PSE 12 Installation Wizard Interrupted

I'm having problems installing Adobe Photoshop Elements 12.
I have already downloaded the bundle. The problem is right at the end of installation wizard. It says status is registering and then immediately does an action rollback.
The message "The wizard was interrupted before Adobe Photoshop Elements 12 could be completely installed. Your system has not been modified. To complete installation at another time, please run setup again."
I have tried multiple times to delete all files and downloading/installing again.
If anyone can offer some help that would be greatly appreciated.

  • Ask for Login during Installation wizard of application

    Hi to all,
I am doing an application in which I have some unusual
requirement, that is I want my application to ask for login (only
username is required) while I install the application i.e; during
the installation wizard and save it at that time only, so that the
application will not prompt user again for login in future.
I know how to achieve this after the application is installed
by using the shared objects once the user login.
Is there any way to achieve this?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanx.

    Hi Arun,
I'm not sure I understand what type of login you are requesting, but it is possible to build a wrapper installer that silently launches your AIR installer then does whatever you need in a post install step (or preinstall for that matter.)

  • I downloaded the new update, 3.6.7, came back later and a new window with installation wizard popped up. Do I really need to do this as it seems it is already installed?

I was having so many problems with Firefox crashing and it seems like when I downloaded 3.6.7 and executed it that it resolved the issues. Then an installation wizard window appeared about an hour later asking me to install. Do I really need to do this? I am terrified of it crashing again....
    == This happened ==
    Just once or twice
    == after dowloading latest update

Hold down the Home and Power button for 20 seconds. And try to update again.

Installer Wizard is taking an usual longer time than it has in the past. What should I do?

    Hello,
try 7-zip to uncompress the msi file. In the new folder open setup32.exe or setup64.exe depending on your architecture.

  • Internet connectivity possibly lost after running installation wizard from Linksys CD

I have home network system that contains:
Windows Vista Ultimate 64 bit SP2 laptop
    MAC computer
Both computers connected to D-Link Router and thus to the Internet.
When I attempted to replace D_Link router with WRT160N the following happen:
At first the laptop was able to connect to the Internet. Then I ran installation wizard from the CD that came with WRT160N. When the installation crashed I tried again and eventually the installation succeeded. After the installation the laptop was no longer able to connect to the Internet.
The MAC computer was still able to connect to the Internet.
I switched back to D_Link router. Both, the MAC and the laptop are now able to access the Internet.
    Please help!
    Thank you.

It might be the case that your Mac computer is connected to some other network.
Are you able to see your network name on your Windows computer ?
Try to readjust the wireless settings manually on the router and reconnect both the computer to your network
Note** Do all the settings from the wired computer(computer connected to the router via cable).
Open an Internet Explorer browser page on your wired computer(desktop). In the address bar type - 192.168.1.1 and press Enter...Leave Username blank & in Password use admin in lower case...
For Wireless Settings, please do the following : -
    Click on the Wireless tab
    - Here select manual configuration...Wireless Network mode should be mixed...
    - Provide a unique name in the Wireless Network Name (SSID) box in order to differentiate your network from your neighbours network...
    - Set the Radio Band to Standard-20MHz and change the Standard channel to 11-2.462GHz...Wireless SSID broadcast should be Enabled and then click on Save Settings...
Please make a note of Wireless Network Name (SSID) as this is the Network Identifier...
    For Wireless Security : -
Click on the Sub tab under Wireless > Wireless Security...
Change the Wireless security mode to WPA, For Encryption, select TKIP...For Passphrase input your desired WPA Key. For example , MySecretKey , This will serve as your network key whenever you connect to your wireless network. Do NOT give this key to anyone and remember the key.
NOTE : Passphrase should be more that 8 characters...
    Click on Advanced Wireless Settings
Change the Beacon Interval to 75 >>Change the Fragmentation Threshold to 2304, Change the RTS Threshold to 2304 >>Click on "Save Settings"...
Now see if you can locate your Wireless Network and attempt to connect...

  • "Add Operating System Installer Wizard" Throws Error When Adding OS's

    Good Afternoon All -
Okay - I just installed SCCM 2012 in our production environment - whoo hoo!
Going through the initial setup and configuration, I had a few errors that I had to take care of, but was able to figure out what caused them OR just uninstall / reinstall them fixed it.  I've got a new issue I can't figure out, though.
On my SCCM 2012 Primary Site Server, I created a folder named Images and shared it to my SCCMAdmin account (full) and SCCM Admin group (full).  Inside of it, I created sub folders for each of the OS's that I want to have installers for.  For now,
    I am working with Windows 7 Professional SP1 x64.
In the console (signed in as SCCMAdmin), I go to Software library, then Add Operating System Installer Wizard.  I type in the UNC path going to shared folder, then sub folder holding the ISO file and click Next.  I then get an error saying
"The specified path does not contain a valid operating system or you do not have permission to access it.  Specify a valid path."
Perhaps I'm doing something wrong, but here's what I've tried to fix it so far...
    - Tried pointing it to a folder with the ISO's contents extracted as well as to the Sources folder
    - Downloaded the ISO from TechNet so that I know it was fresh - nogo
    - Tried adding a Windows 8 ISO I had laying around - nogo
    - Checked folder share permissions as well as security ones.  I even gave Everyone full access - nogo
    - Checked SCCM component and site status - green across the board.
    Any ideas? - Thanks!
    Ben K.

Sorry to bring up a relatively old post, but wanted to relay my experience with this same problem.  In my case, I knew all permissions were correct, but I received the same error message.  Turns out the problem was that I had only copied the
install.wim file to my Images directory.  I then directed SCCM to the Images directory and got the error message.  The reason for the error was that SCCM is looking for the folder structure that is on the DVD, namely, the "sources" directory.
By the time I figured this out, I had already copied the entire "sources" directory to the root of my Images directory.  I moved all of these files under the Images\Sources directory and went ahead and copied the rest of the DVD to the Images directory.
After doing that, I was able to complete the wizard as expected.  Hope that helps someone to not have to waste the same 2 hours that I just did.  :)

  • WLC 2504 installation wizard

    Hi,
When running the installation wizard (CLI access), I will be asked about Multicast IP address.
I don't know what answer I can give.
    WLC release : 7.6.100.0
    Thanks for help...

    Hi Alain,
***The multicast address is used by the controller in order to forward traffic to access points. It is important that it does not match another address in use on your network by other protocols. For example, if you use 224.0.0.251, it breaks mDNS used by some third party applications. It is recommended that the address be on the private range (239.0.0.0-239.255.255.255, which does not include 239.0.0.x and 239.128.0.x.)****
Try to use, example : 239.255.99.1

  • No able to select BAM Portal in BizTalk 2010 Installation Wizard

I am trying to set BAM for BizTalk 2010.
I got it to the point where I have created activities, views and deployed them to SQL. Both BAM databases are there: BAM archive and Primary Import table. But I want to view data through BAM website, upon research I realised BAM website can be created after
installing BAM portal but I am not able to select the check box in installation wizard.
Please note IIS is already started and configured as per following link:

    Appreciate your help!
    Thanks,

    Hi,
BAM Portal runs only runs on a 32-bit mode. If you are installing IIS on a 64-bit machine then you must ensure that ASP.NET 2.0 is enabled
    on 32-bit mode.
Ensure you have all the pre-requisites in place as per this blog. BizTalk

  • Hardware installation wizard problem on 6280

Can somebody please help me? I'm trying to install the PC suite and cable drivers (both genuine nokia) on my PC and everytime a box pops up telling me I must close the 'hardware installation wizard' before they will install. I'm haven't installed anything on my PC for quite a while, but surely I need the installation wizard to install the software/hardware?

What is your system (Windows Xp or?), Where do you open this wizard ?
Why don't you just download the Nokia Pc Suite from www.nokia.com, doubleclick the package and let Pc Suite install itself ? YOu don't need separate drivers, all is included in PC Suite

  • Installation wizards

My company has put me in charge of finding and recommending a suitable installation wizard to deploy our new line of software. I've already gotten information on the two most common wizards, InstallShield and InstallAnywhere, but I would like to find some alternatives if possible.
Does anyone know of another installation wizard package? The main features I'm looking for are cross-platform functionality and update/patch capabilities. Any and all suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Shadow

Hard to beat InstallSheild and InstallAnywhere, but try http://www.izforge.com/izpack/.

  • I'm downloading in English but the Installation Wizard is in German

I'm trying to downlaod Firefox from the US Mozilla website. The downlaod "Run" is in English, but the Installation Wizard is in German. Is there a way to change this. I installed a previous time with the German installation wizard but then the toolbar and any messages are in German.

I've had a remote scan and an in-store scan, it's been determined that my hard drive is 'dying'. So to do anything at all, I've switched to safe mode. It's allowed me to do a couple of graphics projects and access my programs. In the recent past I managed to open a psd file and then it got hung up and I couldn't even click on layers. Then I could not even open folders, and finally the internet was not opening up. My provider - Comcast - sent a signal to allow me internet access also in safe mode, so now I don't need to go to the library to answer emails! I can work in my programs, it's just a temporary annoyance. And yes, the monitor is a fairly new 27". Thanks, Peter and Bob, guess I'll just wait it out... should be up and running by next Monday or Tuesday.
