Creation of EUL --- Discoverer 10.1.2 on Solaris

Hi Forum members,
We have Discoverer 10.1.2 installed on Solaris.
I tried ./eulapi I am getting /bin/ksh eulapi not found.
If I have to use x-windows what is preferred X-windows to be used??
Thanks and Regards

Hi,
Are you sure you have your Oracle home environment set? It looks like the eulapi is not in your path.

  • Install Repository Creation Utility [RCU] for Discoverer 11g

    Friends !
Please help me in answering below quesitons.
    1. We are implementing Discoverer 11g on Sun Solaris 64 SParc systems
    2. For this i did download software using "edelivery" - Oracle Fusion MiddleWare 11g.
    3. I did installed Weblogic server
    4. But there is no "Repository Creation Utility " for solaris env. Is it mandatory to install Repository Creation Utility for discoverer 11g installation
our main goal is to install discoverer 11g and integrate with e-business environment 12.1.3
    Please advise on this
    Regards
    VSH

    Please see MOS note 858748.1.
Section "5. RCU only on Linux x86 and Windows 32 bit"
    This states:
"Since the Repository Creation Utility (RCU) is only available on Linux and Windows, how can I create schemas in other supported Oracle Database platforms?
    Answer:
RCU is only available for Windows 32 bit and Linux x86. Run RCU on these supported platforms to remotely access a certified Oracle Database Server (see Certification Guide) by following the RCU User's Guide"
There are then links to useful information so definitely read that note.

  • Using Discoverer with Oracle Apps

    Hi,
I have Oracle Apps vision instance on my laptop. I installed Discoverer Administrator and Desktop. But when I connect through Desktop, it only recognizes database users. When I check Application User check box still it did not recognize the Oracle Apps user 'SYSADMIN', the error message is 'Invalid username/password' which is a valid user and I could login to Oracle Apps using it and it has many responsibilities.
Is there a step I am missing to synchronize Apps users with database or Discoverer Administrator/Desktop so that I can login to Desktop using Apps user to create workbooks.
    Thanks,
    Suresh

    Hi Rod,
Thanks for the reply. At the time of creation of EUL it gives two options
    1. Grant Access to Public
    2. New EUL is for use by Oracle Applications users only
When I selected the second one I am not able to access it by any user from desktop tool but when I used the first option I can only login from Desktop using database users only not Appliations users, it gives error message 'Invalid username/password'. I dont see anywhere else I need to do something while creating EUL.
Please give me the insight into this.
    Thanks,
    Suresh

  • DIscoverer output different from toad

    Hi
I have an apps mode EUL (Discoverer 10.1.2.2 , EBS R12 and Oracle 11g database)
I have a custom folder for onhand material analysis.
The output will be something like below
Item Onhand Batch Start Date Requirement for this batch Net-Onhand
    ABC 1000 22-Jul-2009 100 900
    ABC 900 24-Jul-2009 50 850
    ABC 850 26-Jul-2009 25 825
And so on sorted by item and batch start date
The purpose is to view demand vs availability for a time span,
And if an item satisfies all the demand (final net-onhand >0) it need not be shown in the report.
The custom folder i wrote worked alright during testing for 5 items and date range of 6 months.
However, it is showing wrong results when run for all items in an org for a given planner.
This when the sql itself when run in toad does work as expected.
Here is my sql. The conditions commented out are applied at the workbook. What could be reason for the difference in the query output in discoverer vs toad.

    Hi Ariv,
Hmm, only other difference I've had is when you set your NLS settings in SQL*Developer / Oracle Client (TOAD) and get no rows in _VL views etc.
But it sounds like your issue is combining folders in the discoverer BA ... perhaps there's a wayward join?
Have you tried running/comparing the SQL generated from the workbook/sheet itself using View SQL in Discoverer (or sql trace)?
PS. Yes a few posts on the blog still going strong, been a tad busy in the last few months, so no time to post new stuff :-( but plenty coming up once I get a chance :-)

  • Invocation report (Discoverer Viewer) with parameters from an application

    Hi everyone,
I'm proving report in Discoverer Viewer invoking them from an application, which sends parameters to him.
I cannot obtain, that they directly execute when doing click in the URL of execution with its parameters, but that opens the screen where it requests to enter the parameters, without assigning those that they are arriving to him in the URL.
I verified if the problem were in the name of the parameters and apparently it takes the values from such by the order in which they arrive.
Also I verified that the values of parameters are arriving correctly from the application.
Somebody can help me with this?
    Thank you very much
    Ana

    Hi,
    I could resolve the problem.
The creation parameters in discoverer reports is case sensitive with the parameters that arrive from an application.
    Anyway, thank you

  • Privilege setting in Discoverer OLAP

    Hi,
One of my customer has the following issue:
Powerful role OLAP_USER is assigned to the role D4OPUB, on first-time creation of a
Discoverer catalog. However OLAP_USERS has a lot of system privilege, like create table,
    create dimension.
We have a number of Discoverer OLAP end users who would just read worksheets thru the Discoverer
Viewer (i.e. need to access the Discoverer catalog), and thus do not need those privilege of
OLAP_USERS. Our DBA will seperately grant select-only rights over the corresponding OLAP analytic
    workspace to end users
    So what can we do:
    1) Any suggestions to accomplish this?
    2) Can OLAP_USERS role (or D4OPUB role)be revoked from the user without any issue?
    Thanks in advance,
    Regards,
    Padmanabh.

    Hi Padmanabh
Chapter 16 of my Discoverer 10g Handbook is dedicated to using Discoverer with OLAP and if you don't have a copy I would urge you to get hold of one.
I have taken the following extract from my book:
You can add users to the Discoverer Catalog either using Oracle Enterprise Manager, or using the Java command-line utility. Users have to be added to the Discoverer Catalog before they can connect to Discoverer Plus for OLAP.
To add or remove a user from the Discoverer Catalog using Oracle Enterprise Manager 10g Application Control or Grid Control, use the following workflow:
    1. Connect to the Discoverer Catalog home page within Oracle Enterprise Manager as before.
    2. Click the Manage link.
    3. Enter the connection details for the Discoverer Catalog.
    4. Click Authorize Users and Roles.
    5. You will then be presented with a list of available database users and roles, and a list of those users and roles that are currently authorized to access the Discoverer Catalog.
    6. Select the users and roles that you want to access the Discoverer Catalog. If you add a role, all users with that role automatically have access to the Catalog. Any users or roles that you authorize for Discoverer Catalog use are assigned the D4OPUB role, which provides access to the objects stored in the catalog.
Reading between the lines then you can see that even if you assign another role for your end users they must also get the D40PUB role which means they will also get OLAP_USERS.
    Best wishes
    Michael

Is there a default EUL (Discoverer) with Oracle Application ?
    Thanks for your answers

You have to create a new EUL by running a script from the pc where you install discoverer Admin. Edtition.
For more info refer to note-Note:139516.1--Using Discoverer 4i with Oracle Applications 11i

I am not quite sure what either of you are after, but if you hit the "Documentation" link on OTN you will find the documentation, such as the above list, for almost all of Oracle products. Most are available online in HTML format or PDF and some have a part number so that they can be ordered.
The 10g Developer Suite Documentation is here: http://otn.oracle.com/documentation/dev10g.html

  • Can't add new business folders anymore

I don't know why, but I can't add any business folders on our dev server. If I try to add any folders who are not part of the current EUL, Discoverer Administrator always say :
    ORA-00001 : unique constraint (ACAIQ.EUL5_EXP_PK)
OBJECT = (name of table or view that I'm adding)
Now, the strange thing is that I can export the EUL from dev to staging, and on staging, I can add folders with the same EUL as dev :-/

It seems like your id sequence is out of whack with the rest of reality. One thing you could check is to see what the eul5_id_seq current value is, and whether it is smaller than some of the various ID columns in the EUL.
One fix (and most likely not recommended) would be to increment the sequence such that it is larger than the largest ID.

  • Help: Can't generate summaries based on some APPS-Views

    Hello,
    i created an apps-mode EUL (DISCOVERER 4.1.44 on an 8.1.7 DB Applications 11i 11.5.6)
EUL owner is a seperate db user (disco_us) with all priviledges needed. (hopefully)
i tryed to generate some summaries (as EUL owner and as apps-user)
some on tables (GL_SETS_OF_BOOKS) workes fine,
some on views (AR_ADDRESSES_V) results in the following error:
Database Error - ORA-30353: expression not supported for query rewrite
i tryed to generate the materialised view manually with sql*plus
    with the same result
    CREATE materialized VIEW test_mv
    build IMMEDIATE
    refresh ON COMMIT
    ENABLE query rewrite
    AS
    SELECT AR_ADDRESSES_V.CREATION_DATE,
    AR_ADDRESSES_V.CREATED_BY,
    SUM(AR_ADDRESSES_V.SU_BILL_TO_SITE_USE_ID)
    FROM APPS.AR_ADDRESSES_V AR_ADDRESSES_V
    GROUP BY AR_ADDRESSES_V.CREATION_DATE, AR_ADDRESSES_V.CREATED_BY
Any hints, tips, tricks and workarounds to avoide this would be much appreciated.

There aren't a lot of JavaHelp users here these days, but hopefully this page will help you.
