Creation of Oracle managed objects - CF's and Destinations
Hi,
Is there a way to create Oracle CF's and Destinations apart from AQJmsFactory. What I am looking for is creating these objects through reflection which most of the JMS providers support. This allows using the Generic JMS RA in javabean mode to easily integrate with Oracle AQ. Please reply.
Also if it is not possible when is Oracle going to change its API to be standardized as most of the JMS providers support?
Cheers

Prevent creation of additional common objects at the same time ...
Context: A Super User group may require to be allowed to create and/or change queries in Production
Would be possible to prevent creation of additional common objects like rectricted and calculated key figures and variables at the same time allowing creation of queries in terms of dragging and dropping filters, free characteristics, rows and columns?
I know that keeping the system closed to changes and using the transport connection Object Changeability it is possible to restrict change of query elements to those that are original in the system.
Points will awarded.
Thanks
Mathew. In transport connection Object Changeability, you can only set query elements as modificables but you cant distint between diferent query elements (queries, calculated/restricted key figures, structures, etc).
You can do that distiction in authorization object in rs_comp and rs_comp1.
You should combine transport connection Object Changeability and authorization objects in roles -
Collect metrics failed because 'Query Datacenter Managed Object Reference' is not executed
Hello,
This is my first post on this forum; I am working for a Cisco partner.
I am working on Tidal Enterprise Orchestrator 2.3.0.441 (hotfix1 and 2, content update 1), part of CIAC starter edition.
Scheduled Collect metrics failed in 'vSphere Datacenter Sync' and in 'vSphere Cluster Data Sync' parts
Problem is at the level of 'Query Datacenter Managed Object Reference'
Input is Datacenter name (well defined, value is not '*'), but this box is not executed (stay white). Next box : 'Set Datacenter MOR' define a variable with value 'Datacenter-' instead of 'Datacenter-[output of Query Datacenter Managed Object Reference]. And finally 'Create Cluster table" failed because a root element is missing (the datacenter name)
So my question is why 'Query Datacenter Managed Object Reference' is not executed ?
I change nothing in the workflow, and Datacenter is normally well defined.
thank you for your help,
Cheers,
NicolasThis particular utility workflow is set to not-archive completed instances.
This means that, after it finishes, it is not saved to the database and you can't see the runtime information. It improves performance and saves database space, but does make troubleshooting a little more roundabout.
You'll want to turn on archiving temporarily to see what the error message is. Open the process, go to the Options tab, and check the "Archive completed instances" box. -
Query on Formats and Destination
Hello,
can anyone of you pls respond to my qery:
When I schedule a report in Business Objects, under Formats and Destinations, using a network directory, do I need to reset the password every time my network login password changes? I attached a screen shot of the Destination Options and Settings widow showing the password.
Thanks,
Jagadeesh.Hello,
Yes, you have to update that username and password.
Because the credential which you provide in "Destinations Options and Settings" section is actually having rights to create a file in that network location.
You can use the Job server deafult settings for this purpose.
Thanks,

Edited by: Rahul K. Thakar on Nov 3, 2010 12:04 PMI believe the precise answer is that Oracle is ORDBMS (Object-Relational DBMS).For a brief period in time Oracle Corporation offered a product called Object Oriented Oracle (OOO).
It was such a wonderous product that it was buried in the trash can of history when it did neither task very well. -
Oracle DIRECTORY object and subdirectories
As you know, in 9i the use of the UTL_FILE_DIR is being deprecated in favour of Oracle DIRECTORY objects. This is fine for security reasons and administration but there seems to be a problem with subdirectories.
The situation: we are generating literally millions of files using UTL_FILE. These files are going to be stored in one of forty thousand directories (the precise directory is derived from parsing the file's key ID).
In the old days access could be granted simply by setting the UTL_FILE_DIR parameter to /<root>/dir/*
As far as I can see, the Oracle DIRECTORY does not support subdirectories. Is there any way of avoiding the creation of forty thousand CREATE DIRECTORY statements and a concommitant number of GRANT statements?
Oracle 9.2, any suggestions gratefully received.
Cheers, APCJust curious Andrew-- are there things in the UTL_FILE package that you don't find implemented better in Java's I/O classes? I wouldn't claim to be the world's leading expert on Java I/O, so I won't comment on the specifics of this. Generally I think using Java to re-write a piece of existing native functionality is a hard one to sell:
(1) Java tends to run slower than native code
(2) It's a chunk of work, and my PM is already breathing down my neck.
However, I might do this as a hobby project. If I do, I'll let you know how it turns out :)

NisitHi,
Check each of the following :
the spelling of the table or view name.
that a view is not specified where a table is required.
that an existing table or view name exists.
Contact the database administrator if the table needs to be created or if user or application privileges are required to access the table.
Also, if attempting to access a table or view in another schema, make certain the correct schema is referenced and that access to the object is granted.

Hello,
I have a very serious problem during our migration to Oracle 11.
After installing the database, creating the owb repository schema and starting the owb client, I tried to create a simple table and got a null pointer exception (see below). I also imported some data from our productive enviroment with Oracle 10, just to have some tables in the owb enviroment. Unfortunatley the same exception is thrown when I am trying to open the editor window for the data object.
The system is:
- Microsoft Windows Server 2008
- Oracle Database / OWB Repository Client and Server 11.1.0.7.0
A complete reinstallation of the database software did not help, the error is reproduceable.
Unfortunately metalink could not help us eather, no one seems to have this problem so far. Currently there are two occurances of the error API5072:
API5072 When Attempting to Open Control Center Manager
API5072 Error When Deploying Process Flow to Two Different Workflow Schema Installed On The Same Database Instance
The problem I have is independent of the workflow schema (it happens with and without a workflow schema) and is independent of the locale.
There seems to be no patch and I am running out of ideas. Can anyone thinks of anything I can try to get the system running?
Tank you!

OSD-04010: <create> option specified, file already existsHi,
If you getting a problem with DBCA go for manually process:-
I had listed steps which I follow
Step 1: Decide on Your Instance's System Identifier (SID)
Step 2: Create the Initialization Parameter File
Note:- Name the copied init.ora file init<SID>.ora because this is the default naming convention that the Oracle server looks for when it tries to start up the instance ORACLE_HOME/dbs directory (exists over the prefered path)
Edit this file's parameters so that your database and your instance will run effectively on your system.
DB_NAME Must be set to a text string of eight characters or less. During database creation, the value assigned to DB_NAME is recorded in the database's datafiles, redo log files, and control files. If, when you attempt to start the database instance, the value of DB_NAME as recorded in the initialization parameter file and the database name in the control files are not the same, the database will not start.
DB_DOMAIN A text string that specifies the network domain where the database is created.
CONTROL_FILES Is assigned the comma-separated list of control file names to use for the new database. When you execute the CREATE DATABASE statement, the control files listed as values assigned to this parameter are created. If you fail to specify a filename for the CONTROL_FILES parameter, Oracle creates a file with a default operating system dependant filename.
DB_BLOCK_SIZE Specifies the standard block size of the database. This size is used in the creation of the system tablespace and by default in any other tablespaces created. Take care when determining what this value should be because after the database is created, the value cannot be changed.
UNDO_MANAGEMENT Determines whether the database starts in automatic undo management mode. A value of AUTO enables automatic undo management; MANUAL enables manual undo management mode. In 9i, AUTO is suggested, but MANUAL is default.
UNDO_TABLESPACE When the instance starts in automatic undo management mode, it needs to have a tablespace in which to store its undo information. The default is SYS_UNDOTBS and is automatically created if you execute a CREATE DATABASE statement with the UNDO_MANAGEMENT initialization parameter set to AUTO and no UNDO TABLESPACE statement in the CREATE DATABASE statement.
Step 3: Connect to and Start the Instance
Connect to the instance as SYSDBA either using operating system authentication or the password file method of authentication and start up the instance using the STARTUP command.
sqlplus '/ as sysdba'
If your parameter file is not in the default location or is not named init<SID>.ora, you may need to specify the PFILE clause in the STARTUP command for the instance to start.
Because you do not yet have a database attached to the instance, you need to start up the instance in NOMOUNT state:
startup nomount;
The instance is now started and ready for the CREATE DATABASE command.
Step 4: Issue the CREATE DATABASE Statement
create database mydb1 controlfile reuse
Logfile
Group 1 ('/mydb1/log1/log01a.log',
'/mydb2/mydb1/log01b.log') size 50M,
Group 2 ('/mydb1/log1/log02a.log',

Creation of Oracle model hanging MS SQL 7- 8.1.6
Had a question answered yesterday which has got me almost there, for which thank you. Creating the Oracle model now maps almost all the objects in my SQL Server database (apart from a few roles, triggers and stored procedures), up to the point where the log window shows:
[Timestamp] Mapping Roles mapped: 7, Roles NOT Mapped: 3
[Timestamp] Mapping Mapping User Privileges
[Timestamp] Mapping mapped user privilege :
[Timestamp] Mapping mapped user privilege :
[Timestamp] Mapping mapped user privilege :
The process then hangs (it's been 21 hours now). Any ideas?

SCD's type 2 conflict with Oracle Dimension Object
Hi everybody.
I have a little problem understanding Oracle Dimension Objects and how to use it with SCD type 2.
Oracle's documentation says: There must be a 1:n relationship between a parent and children. A parent can have one or more children, but a child can have only one parent.
This makes me think that if i have, for example, a department 1 and zone 'A', this department ALWAYS have to map the same zone, the zone 'A' can have more than one department but one department have to map every time to the same zone.
This is a correct example: department 1 maps to zone 'A' everytime
Employee Department Zone
1 1 A
2 1 A
This is an incorrect example: department 1 DOES NOT MAP to zone 'A' everytime
Employee Department Zone
1 1 A
2 1 B
Oracle's documentation says: You must not create dimensions in any schema that does not fully satisfy the dimensional relationships. Incorrect results can be returned from queries otherwise.
OK, but what can we do if the department's zone actually change???
In SCD type 2 we use the following technique:
ID Employee Department Zone Start End
1 1 1 A 2010-01-01 2010-01-02
2 1 1 B 2010-01-03 null
Now we can see that SCD type 2 does not follow the requirements that ORACLE recommends for the creation of Dimension Objects, I mean department 1 now maps to the older zone A and the newer zone B.
Is it correct?
Can somebody clarify this? I think is a conflict.
Thanks.Hi,
Is it correct? No, you are wrong. You mixed dimension attribute historization and hierarchy relationship.
Behaviour of mapping for loading SCD2 dimension depends on how did you implement Department and Zone entities in your dimension -
as a general attributes of lowest dimension level (EMPLOYEE) or as a higher levels in dimension hierarchy.
If you define Department and Zone as attributes of EMPLOYEE level than behaviour of loading algorithm will be as you described -
it is because OWB doesn't know that Department and Zone attributes compose hierarchy.
But when you define additional levels Department and Zone - OWB tries to resolve conflicts over hierarchy in very simple way -
for each child dimension value it choose single parent with minimal business key value.
In your case loaded data will be:
ID Employee Department Zone Start End
1 1 1 A 2010-01-01 2010-01-02
2 1 1 A 2010-01-03 null
Since 10.2.0.4 patchset there is also Hierarchy Versioning feature (so configured for versioning level also contains EFFECTIVE_DATE, EXPIRATION_DATE columns).

The rpm which contains this package is libXp-1.0.0-8.i386.rpm. It is located in the /server direrctory of the OS install DVD. You copy this rpm from the DVD and install it using

or if you have setup yum or up2date repository:
