Creation of subtypes for a custom PD Infotype.

HI Experts,
We are in the process of creating a custom PD infotype (say 9003 and hrp9003 is the table).
We want the infotype to have 2 subtypes (say 01 and 02).
We followed the steps and created the infotypes and also made sure that we create 2 subtypes and we were successful till here.
However, when we try to maintain data in IT9003(pp01), we never get an option to specify the subtype and hence whatever data we save doesnu2019t have any value in subtype field.
Please help up out to save data with subtypes.
We want something similar to infotype 1001, where we can select the relationship(subtype) and save accordingly.
How to make the subtype appear in the data creation screen? Do we have to do some changes in the module pool program?

Check the tables V_778U.....assign your subtypes to custom PD Infotype.
Check the table for Your PD infotype and subtype assigned to Object Type..
SPRO --> OM --> Basic Settings -->Data Model Enhancement -->Infotype Maintenance

Access transaction SM30/31 for table maintenance. Enter view name V_778U.
Select maintain and enter the subtype for the custom infotype.
Also remember to enter the time constraint for the subtypes mainatined in table T777Z.
SPRO Path
Personnel Management --> org management --> basic settings --> data model enhancement --> infotype maintenance --> maintain subtypes.

Creation of subtype for IT 0016

When I am selecting IT 0016-Contract Elements in PA30, I am not getting any values in the sybtype field. How can I create subtype for contract ?
I have already created contract types.

Hi Rajesh,
There are no subtypes for the IT0016, and there is no need of creating Subtypes too. The thing is just click on create button by giving the pernr and choose the required Contract type that present in the combo box. Thats it.

I facing problem when creating for Subtypes in OM , i need create Infotyes with Subtypes in OM.Check below steps how i created
1. I create Structure in se11. HRI9119
2. In PPCI , i create infotype 9119
3.In SM30 , I Maintain table T777i, here i selected my infotype (9119), then i clicked on infotype per object type and assign subtype (9229, 9339) to the my infotype .
4. After that, in same screen, i selected my infotype and assign TIME CONSTANT to my all subtype and infotypes.
After this , any think required to maintain , Plz tell me.. i didn't find my subtype in PP01.

Hi Venkatesh,
The new subtype has to be maintained in table V_778U.Also you need to relate the new subtype to object type in table T777Z and miantain the time contraints.
Please refer following path in IMG for further information
Personnel Mgt > OM > Basic settings > Data model enhancement

Creation of subtype for Infotype 1001

Hi all
My client wants two reporting realtionship ( like A002) to be done. So I tried through Matrix which i was unable to do so.
I tried to solve this problem by copying the existing subtype A002 with time constraint 2 ( for IT1001). Everything is fine in IMG and when trying to create the relationship via subtype in Easy access it is throwing error as Time constraint is missing but when i checked it is there in the table .
can anyone suggest how to handle this issue.

Maximum limit of total length of all the characters for a custom OM infotyp

Hi,
Can anyone let me know whats the maximum limit of total character length for a OM infotype.
I need to create an OM infotype using PPCI Tcode.
When I am defining the HRI Structure....when total length of all the field is exceeding 900 I am unable to create infotype....I want to confirm whether it is some configuration problem or whether max limit set by SAP is 900 ?

hi raju,
i believe that the the custom infotype which you created didnt have any subtype and subtype table created intially.
If it had , then it would have a little simpler to just change subtype table in V_t582a or maintain the extra entries in V_t591a table.
In case the custom infotype didnt have any subtype information maintained intially, then you can proceed in the same way by
introducing the subtype table in V_t582a or updating v_t591a.
But you will have to ensure that after the customising is done, all the available records maintained for the custom infotype should have the subtype field updated via a utillity program.

Creating subtype for Infotype.

I have created a customInfotype following the steps below:
1) Go to Transaction PM01.
2) Enter the custom Infotype number which you want to create (Should be a 4 digit number, start with 9).
3) Select the 'Employee Infotype' radio button.
4) Select the 'PS Structure Infotype'.
5) Click on Create... A separate table maintenance window appears...
6) Create a PS structure with all the fields you want on the Infotype
7) Save and Activate the PS structure
8) Go back to the initial screen of PM01.
9) Click on 'All' push button. It takes a few moments.
10) Click on 'Technical Characteristics'. Infotype list screen appears
11) Click on 'Change'(pencil) button
12) Select your Infotype and click on 'Detail' (magnifying glass) button
13) Give 'T591A' as subtype table
14) Give 'T591S' as subtype txt tab
15) Give your subtype field as subtype field
16) Save and come back to PM01 initial screen
17) Click on 'Infotype Characteristics' ... Infotype list screen appears
18) Click on 'Change' (pencil) button
19) Click on 'New Entries'
20) Enter your Infotype number and short text
21) Here we have to set different Infotype Characteristics as per the requirement. (Better open another session with some standard Infotype's infotype characteristics screen and use as the reference to fill yours)
22) Save your entries.
23) Now the Infotype is created and ready to use.
24) If you want to change the layout of the Infotype as per your requirement...
25) In the PM01 initial screen...Select 'Screen' radio button and give 2000 as the screen name, then click on edit.
26) In the next screen.. Select 'Layout Editor' and click 'Change'.
27) Screen default layout appears...here you can design/modify the screen..change the attributes of the fields..etc.
28) Save and activate. (Don't forget to 'Activate at every level)
In thread Infotype the following method is given to create subtype for Infotype.
<b>Subtype Creation :</b>
Transaction PM01 Goto Subtype Characteristics. Click on Append and then subtype. Enter the name and description of subtype on screen.
Then goto technical Characteristics and maintain the details of subtype there. I.e name of subtype i.e. component name defined in PSnnnn. Subtype table is T591A.
Subty.text tab is T591S and time const tab is T591A.
But I am having no option to create subtype from PM01.
Please guide on this.

Hi,
What you are trying to do is to modify a Standard ( delivered by SAP ) object. This would obviously not be allowed all that easily. You will have to contact SAP and obtain what is known as an access key. You would then be able to modify the object. This stipulation makes it explicit that SAP is not responsible for any problems that you may encounter by changing the standard functionality.
There is, however, an exception to this. We have something called user-exits in sAP. These are the places in the code where SAP has given the customer an option to include some custom functionality within the standard functionality. That is because SAP thinks that these are the points where customer-specific functionality is most likely.
Hope you can now see the point. If you want to modify PM01, you have to either search if an appropriate user-exit is available, or you have to contact SAP to obtain the access key.

How to define default subtypes for Infotype 0105 on entry

Hello;
I have spend an entire day trying to look into PA configuration to determin how to make specific Subtype of the 0105 Communication Infotype automatically appear when an HR person is entering in a new employee.
Currently we have the 0001, 0010, and ADP subtypes automatically appear in the Communication Infotype screen when the person is entering in a new employee. I was asked to create three new Subtypes for Infortype 0105 and have these new subtypes automatically appear on the data entry screen for Infotype 0105.
I can not find anywhere in configuration how to do this. I ahve burnt an entire day searching configuration and have about had it with this garbage.
Can someone please point me to specific spot in configuration where these subtypes of and Infotype can be identified as default data entry screens.
I would greatly appreciate any help ... since I am not a HR Configurator ... just a plain old ABAP'er who has lost our configurators.

To create subtypes follow:
Tcode: SPRO
Path: Personnel Management>Personnel Administration>Communication>Create Communication Types
Half the job is done. Then include those subtypes in your hiring action. To do so:
Tcode: SPRO
Path: Personnel Management>Personnel Administration>Customizing Procedures>Actions>Define infogroups>Info group
Select your hiring infogroup and create new entries with operation INS for 105 and the three subtypes.
You are all set!

Subtype ERROR in Custom infotype

i have created a custome infotype.
i have assigned a subtype for the same.
but it is not working.
when i press F4 in subtype field error is displayed.
ERROR MESSAGE is " infoytpe xxxx not supported".

Hi mr Haldar.
OK i had the same question...
But i found how to do it.
Ok first you go through SM30 to View V_T591A, and update it.
Then you put the Infotype Number, click on ADD and choose the options that you need, click on OK.
Then you fill the table with your subty and your descriptions.
save into an order.
After that you go to the PM01 Transaction.
There you put you Infotype number again. And you click on Technical Properties, There you're going to update too, and select your IT there, after click on DETAIL.
In this screen you find the IT Properties, And in the last part you can find the part of the Subtypes.
The field that you use like Subty.
And the tables that you use like reference.
For example.
Cpo.subtipo     TIPO_PRESTAMO
Tabla subtipo   T591A
Tabla text.sub. T591S
Tabla enl.tmps. T591A
Inftpo/vista    I
Per./día clave I
After that you Save into an order.
if you want to customize another thing about Subtypes, In the PM01 first page click on Infotype Character. And select the IT too, there you can see the reference tables. Also can choose the options that you need for example in Subty you can customize it like Necessary in the Infotype.
After that you can see it in PA30 if the IT is ok.
