Creation of the export data source failed

trying to activate ods but getting this message that the creation of the export data source failed.
and it also gives message that RFC Connection to source system is damaged===> no metadata upload
Please can someone help me with this.

Hi,
Check ur source system connection. by going to RSA1-> Source System-> right click and then select check.
U will get the info about the source system Connection. IF RFC has failed then better be in touch with ur basis.
Or try restoring ur source system connection by
Source system-> Restore.
Its sets all the default conenctions b/n ur systems.
Once again check the connection now. if it says ok.. then try do the export data source and then assign the data source to info source and then maintain the Update rules..

How to find Info Source for Export Data source in Data Marts node

Hi
I need to load data from ODS to Info Cube. I created the Export Data source for the ODS. I can see the Export Data Source but in the Data Marts node of Info Source i cannot find the Info Source for the Export Data source i created. I replicated Data sources in the BW source system. I also tried to use Insert Lost Nodes from the Context Menu of the InfoSource node but nothing worked. Please let me know what i need to do to see the Info source in the Data Marts.

In the infosource tab in RSA1 - use settings --> display generated objects
you will be able to see the datamart infosources..

I have generated export data source from info object Company Code,
And trying to transport the Export data source, i.e. 8Company_code to QA system.
Its showing the log that, imported sucessfully, but, i can't see the object in QA.
Iam currently working on BW 3.5 system.

Modify export data source

Hello friends,
I am in need for some advice for modifying an export data source.
My scenario is as following: I have a cube for which i would like to generate a datasource in order to export some of its contents to a second cube.
That means i would like to "erase" or hide some of the infoobjects present in the first cube from the generated export datasource.
In rsa6 i cannot set the hide flag for those fields.
In rsa2 i see that the field attribute for the infoobjects i would like to hide is set to 'X' whereas i would like to have a '3' instead.
Can someone guide on the procedure of setting the field attribute for the export datasource?

Hi Gili,
I am not very sure if it is recommended in general to modify the "exported data source", because any change made manually, will be overwritten if the cube is changed and/reactivated again in the future.
However for your case, I believe even without changing the generated DS it should work - simply mapping the info objects available in cube2 and leave the rest unmapped.

80IC_C03 Export data source

Hi,
As far as I know, fact table of cube 0IC_C03 stores only inflow and outflow key figures and not the main key figures.
Hence, the cube does not have a record for every 'Calday'. In query, Stock is calculated for any 'Calday' at runtime.
When I generate export data source, it provides 'Inflow', 'Outflow' as well as main stock KF.
Shall I conclude that the export data source gives me record for every 'Calday'.
If not, please give me suggestion how to get stock for every calday so that I can update it into another data target,

You can take a query based on 0calday and you can use APD to upload the query data into any data target

Why I cannot change the generated data source?

I have a generated data source from ODS, now I need to change something on it but the system only allow me to display it even I clicked the pen-glasses icon. Could anybody tell me how?

Hi Ryan,
You can't the generated data source from an ODS object, this is becasue ODS supplies delta from change log tables and the export data source / info-source structure should be same as of the change log table.
However you can change the generated data source-info source assignment of info-cube.

Seems that there are one or more characteristics in the ODS for which one or more attributes may be new or inactive.
Please see SAP Note 597326..Pasting the content below..Solution steps are also given..
Symptom
When you activate or transport ODS objects, the following errors appear in the log:
"The creation of the export DataSource failed". Message number RSBM 035
"Error &1 in function module &2". Message number RSBM 006
"Error when creating the export DataSource and dependent Objects". Message number RSDODSO 169
"Error when activating the ODS object &1". Message number RSDODSO 168
Other terms
RSBM 035, RSBM 006, RSDODSO 169, RSDODSO 168
Reason and Prerequisites
A characteristic involved is active but it is using new or inactive attributes.
Characteristics involved are all characteristics used in the ODS object.
Solution
Check all characteristics involved as described in the following:
Check the Compounding and Attributes tabs in the characteristics maintenance.
All characteristics here must be active. This is displayed by a green icon.
If this is not the case for a characteristic involved (a gray icon is displayed on one of the two tabs), activate the characteristic involved. This also activates the inactive dependent characteristics.
After you have checked and repaired all the characteristics involved as described above, the loading/maintenance of master data should work again.

DSO activation failed due to creation of the export datasource failed

hi experts,
i am activating DSO, but failed. Cause is "The creation of the export DataSource failed"
there are many threads in the forum saying restoring the BI myself source system can address it, I tried many times, but failed.
I used program RSDG_ODSO_ACTIVATE to activate an already activated DSO, it returned same error and the original activated DSO turned into inactivated. So I guess there must be something wrong with the setting.

As I read the system RESTORE option should resolve your issue. From RSA1 try to restore your source system and try to active your DSO again.

I am transporting a DSO from DEV to QA in 7.0 system.While transporting the DSo i am getting the below mentioned error.

the request conatins just the DSO and not the Export datsource.i have also tried exporting both together still it failed.
I have referred OSS note No.597326 for the same.But it didnt helped in resolving the issue.

Export Data Source Transport Problem

Hi All,
I have IO FI Super Number - did export data source for that and generated 8zfssupno for myself BW system in Dev system.
Used that export DS for another MD Account and created transfer rule.
Now when i try to transport the Request to QA env. the export DS request shows status succesfull but cannt find 8zfssupno DS into QA system and my transfer rule request has been failed to transport.
i collected DS twice but both requests are also not identical.
One has Object Directory Entry -->R3TRISFS8ZFSSUPNOT
and the other one dont.
i can see my export DS in t-code RSA6 also.
Do i need to transport the main IO FI Super Number before transporting export DS ?
can someone pl. give me the solution ?

ERROR WHEN GENERATING EXPORT DATA SOURCE

Dear Members,
I am getting an error when generating export data source for Info Cube. I'm creating an Info Cube based on already existed info cube. Literally I am copying all the settings of an info cube to new Info Cube. The scenario is to load the data from one Info Cube to the other. The creation of Info Cube from an Info Cube is successful. But the problem is when I am generating export data source the following error is occurred.
Error: Data Source 81c_svrr does not exist in source system B3TCLNT800 of version A.
what could be the reason for the error?
Please let me know.

The problem is because of error in the Myself Connection , Check the Myself connection in the source systems and the activate and restore the connection and try, it should work..

Unable to generate "Export data source" for Master data infoobject

Hi Gurus,
I'm in BW 3.5
I need to generate "Export data source" for a master data info object.
I followed below steps:
I ticked the checkbox "Characterist. is export data source" in the master data Info object maintenance screen.
In the Infosource area, for the desired Infoobject --> Right click --> Generate export datasource --> a dialog box displays saying "The generation of DataSource was successful"
Problem:
Even after refreshing, etc.. I couldn't find the generated datasource 8**** for the above master data. I also tried to replicate the datasource from the myself source system, but couldn't find it even there. I don't know where the generated export data source is hiding ???
Could anyone please help ????

Hi Venkat,
I guess that after creating an export datasource for infoobject this DS should appear in the RSA1-Source systems - MYSELF - datasource overview (with name starting with 8). Since it's a datamart, it should appear also as system generated infosource. And in this case you would be able to assign in URs of data target the appropriate infosource (make sure that in Infoproviders tab of RSA1 you have inserted your infoobject as a data target).
However, there are some bugs related to export data source. CHeck if you see you export data source in RSA6.
If you don't see it - consider applying OSS Note #816892 - "30BSP26: Export DS for master data is not generated".
Note #876845 - "30BSP29: InfoObject change: Export DataSource not adjusted" is also may be useful.

Excel SSAS Tabular error: An error occurred during an attempt to establish a connection to the external data source

Hello there,
I have an Excel report I created which works perfectly fine on my dev environment, but fails on my test environment when I try to do a data refresh.
The key difference between both dev and test environments is that in dev, everything is installed in one server:
SharePoint 2013
SQL 2012: Database Instance, SSAS Instance, SSRS for SharePoint, SSAS POWERPIVOT instance (Powerpivot for SharePoint).
In my test and production environments, the architecture is different:
SQL DB Servers in High Availability (irrelevant for this report since it is connecting to the tabular model, just FYI)
SQL SSAS Tabular server (contains a tabular model that processes data from the SQL DBs).
2x SharePoint Application Servers (we installed both SSRS and PowerPivot for SharePoint on these servers)
2x SharePoint FrontEnd Servers (contain the SSRS and PowerPivot add-ins).
Now in dev, test and production, I can run PowerPivot reports that have been created in SharePoint without any issues. Those reports can access the SSAS Tabular model without any issues, and perform data refresh and OLAP functions (slicing, dicing, etc).
The problem is with Excel reports (i.e. .xlsx files) uploaded to SharePoint. While I can open them, I am having a hard time performing a data refresh. The error I get is:
"An error occurred during an attempt to establish a connection to the external data source [...]"
I ran SQL Profiler on my SSAS Server where the Tabular instance is and I noticed that every time I try to perform a data refresh, I get the following entries:
Every time I try to perform a data refresh, two entries under the user name ANONYMOUS LOGON.
Since things work without any issues on my single-server dev environment, I tried running SQL Server Profiler there as well to see what I get.
As you can see from the above, in the dev environment the query runs without any issues and the user name logged is in fact my username from the dev environment domain. I also have a separated user for the test domain, and another for the production domain.
Now upon some preliminary investigation I believe this has something to do with the data connection settings in Excel and the usage (or no usage) of secure store. This is what I can vouch for so far:
Library containing reports is configured as trusted in SharePoint Central Admin.
Library containing data connections is configured as trusted in SharePoint Central Admin.
The Data Provider referenced in the Excel report (MSOLAP.5) is configured as trusted in SharePoint Central Admin.
In the Excel report, the Excel Services authentication settings is set as "use authenticated user's account". This wortks fine in the DEV environment.
Concerning SecureStore, PowerPivot Configurator has configured it the PowerPivotUnnattendedAccount application ID in all the environments. There is
NO configuration of an Application ID for Excel Services in any of the environments (Dev, test or production). Altough I reckon this is where the solution lies, I am not 100% sure as to why it fails in test and prod. But as I read what I am
writing, I reckon this is because of the authentication "hops" through servers. Am I right in my assumption?
Could someone please advise what am I doing wrong in this case? If it is the fact that I am missing an Secure Store entry for Excel Services, I am wondering if someone could advise me on how to set ip up? My confusion is around the "Target Application
Type" setting.

PowerPivot workbooks contain embedded data connections. To support workbook interaction through slicers and filters, Excel Services must be configured to allow external data access through embedded connection information. External data access is required
for retrieving PowerPivot data that is loaded on PowerPivot servers in the farm. Please refer to the steps below to solve this issue:
In Central Administration, in Application Management, click Manage service applications.
Click Excel Services Application.
Click Trusted File Location.
Click http:// or the location you want to configure.
In External Data, in Allow External Data, click Trusted data connection libraries and embedded.
Click OK.

Another reason is Excel Services returns this error when you query PowerPivot data in an Excel workbook that is published to SharePoint, and the SharePoint environment does not have a PowerPivot for SharePoint server, or the SQL Server Analysis
