Creation of Users for Discoverer

I am using Oracle as Database for my Application. I can have multiple Application users(but the same Oracle user/Schema).
For Reports, I would be using Oracle Discoverer where I would like to give access privilege om some Reports to only specific Application users. Will Discoverer allow this, or does it need different Oracle users/Schema ??
Regards

Yes Discoverer will allow what you are trying to do.
You can give only certain users privileges to access a Business area (a collection of tables and views). Or you can also limit as to which users can access a specific report, by sharing the report with only the selected users.
Let me know if you have any more questions.

  • Creation of LDAP User for Discoverer Web Services

    Hi all,
    this isn't a Discoverer issue per se, but I couldn't find where to post this in other forums.
    After installing the web services patch for Discoverer (5648158), I need to create a bipublisher user
    in OIDDAS right? However our installation seems a bit ***** up. So I need to do it from the command line.
    I found some instructions in: here
    and created the following bipublisher.ldif file:
    cn=bipublisher,cn=users,dc=company,dc=com
    objectclass=top
    objectclass=person
    objectclass=inetorgperson
    objectclass=organizationalperson
    objectclass=orcluser
    objectclass=orcluserv2
    objectclass=orclUserProvStatus
    givenname=Web
    userpassword=oracle123
    displayname=bipublisher
    orcldefaultprofilegroup=cn=sr_users ,cn=groups,dc=company,dc=com
    preferredlanguage=en-US
    sn=Services
    orcltimezone=Europe/Athens
    mail=[email protected]
    uid=bipublisher
    orclactivestartdate=20080612000000z
    cn=bipublisher
    orclisenabled=ENABLEDthen inserted the entry with:
    ldapadd -h my.host.com -D"cn=orcladmin" -w oracle123 -v -f bipublisher.ldif
    However when I try to login in the web services from Discoverer, I still get invalid credentials
    Any clues? Thanks
    PS I'm talking about the login web service method, not the basic web authentication. I am past that.

    Nevermind, it seems the server was just a bit slow to take the new account under consideration.

  • Install Repository Creation Utility [RCU] for Discoverer 11g

    Friends !
    Please help me in answering below quesitons.
    1. We are implementing Discoverer 11g on Sun Solaris 64 SParc systems
    2. For this i did download software using "edelivery" - Oracle Fusion MiddleWare 11g.
    3. I did installed Weblogic server
    4. But there is no "Repository Creation Utility " for solaris env. Is it mandatory to install Repository Creation Utility for discoverer 11g installation
    our main goal is to install discoverer 11g and integrate with e-business environment 12.1.3
    Please advise on this
    Regards
    VSH

    Please see MOS note 858748.1.
    Section "5. RCU only on Linux x86 and Windows 32 bit"
    This states:
    "Since the Repository Creation Utility (RCU) is only available on Linux and Windows, how can I create schemas in other supported Oracle Database platforms?
    Answer:
    RCU is only available for Windows 32 bit and Linux x86. Run RCU on these supported platforms to remotely access a certified Oracle Database Server (see Certification Guide) by following the RCU User's Guide"
    There are then links to useful information so definitely read that note.

  • Creation of users for SDM

    Hi,
    I have a WAS 6.40 running on a server.Now we have different developers who work on their respective desktops using NWDS.
    When they want to deploy WD app from their NDS,it asks for a SDM passwd.
    What exaclty is this SDM passwd?Is it the passwd for J2EE_ADMIN user?If yes,is it possible to create separate users for SDM so that the developers can have their own user id and passwd without using the J2EE_ADMIN passwd?
    regards,
    Bhupesh

    hi Bhupesh,
    there are no users for SDM as such. you have only a password.
    If you had made a default installation your master password which u give during the installation is your SDM password.
    otherwise, your password is what you gave for SDM excluisvely during the installation (this is Custom Installation).
    if yo had forgotten the password, follow this thread to reset your password.

    Do we need to set the ORACLE_HOME env variable in the BASH_PROFILE directly??? Coz I heard that if we set it with the Export command then the env is set only for the current instance and not permanently.
    If so what is the exact entry I need to make in the BASH_PROFILE???

  • No Data in Report for some users in Discoverer Viewer

    Hi we have some users for discoverer reports .The report show data to Admin user. But if the same report is run through any other user id , it displays 'No data is available'. the report is shared to the user, Proper grants on the table is given and also the user is given access to Business Area. It has been an issue only from last week before that it was working fine . There was a data dump taken from the database last week , would that be an issue ? not sure what DBA has done ..The same report is able to run through the user logins in Discoverer desktop tool .The issue is only when accessed via Discsoverer viewer

    HI Preetham,
    You can take a look at the selection and identification you have made in the multiprovider definition. Most of the cases of a multiprovider report not fetching any data relates to missing identifications of base chars.
    For testing purpose also try to include the the InfoProvider in your query so that you can see what data somes from which base cube.
    Hope this helps...

  • Required Oracle FND tables for Discoverer Install (Oracle App user)

    Hi does anyone know of set documentation or, via SQL Trace, which existing tables Discoverer looks for when setting up an EUL? For instance, our install requires you select the Oracle Apps User Schema and put in the password for that schema where your FND tables reside.
    Assuming some are missing in our current setup, what would be required in order for Discoverer to work in conjunction with the Oracle applications roles and responsibilities, etc.
    I found this list in Discoverer documentation and confirmed I know have that setup correctly with proper grants, etc.. The EUL is created but does return an error of "Table or View does not Exist" which can be passed over and you can proceed into the EUL - but there is an error upon logging into EUL.
    grant select on FND_USER to &EULOWNER
    grant select on FND_APPLICATION to &EULOWNER
    grant select on FND_USER_RESPONSIBILITY to &EULOWNER
    grant select on FND_RESPONSIBILITY_VL to &EULOWNER
    grant select on FND_ORACLE_USERID to &EULOWNER
    grant select on FND_DATA_GROUP_UNITS to &EULOWNER
    This is Discoverer 10g and Oracle 10g database.
    Thanks,
    Mike

    Rod,
    I have confirmed that the Discoverer Administrator Responsibility has Administration, Desktop & Plus privelages.
    Furthermore, the account I am trying to login as - DSCADMIN has those permissions and is assigned that responsibility as well.
    It should be noted that when logging into the EUL as the DSCADMIN account, it prompts me to create a new EUL as one does not exist....however under the EUL ADMIN account (where the EUL was created), it recognizes the EUL since it is the owner.
    Am I missing something further - I've been through the documentation several times and can't figure this out - I have continually made progress but then hit a speed bump each time.
    It should also be noted that DSCADMIN is a database user schema account and also an Apps user as well - but this is how it was setup in our old enviornment so I wouldn't think this would make a difference.

    Mass creation of Oracle HR Self Service Users (for access to all employees)
    Hi all,
    We have Oracle Human Resources 11.5.7 and recently implement Oracle HRMS (Self Service) for the purpose of Online Appraisal System.
    Is there any fast way to create all employees as users of the Self Service instead of creating the users manually one by one in HR?
    I would appreciate any feedback.

    HI, i m new as a muze user for website creation. can anyone plz help me how to start this.

    How exactly did you shut down your laptop? Not a hard restart (holding down the power button), I hope... if that's the case, then it is extremely unlikely the file is still intact on your computer. If it is, it would be an image on your RAM, and it is time-and-resource-intensive to recover it if it is even there. RAM memory is disposable and always being written over. Sorry dude...
    If it wasn't a hard restart, Keynote should have made a backup, unless you 'Force Close'd it.
    It really all depends on how your mac was shut down.

  • Creation of user mysites under different managed paths

    Hi,
    Regarding creation of user Mysites, can two users have different mysites under two different managed paths?
    The scenario for my case is like this:
    I've a SharePoint 2013 farm attached to a domain contosso.com. Under that AD, I've created two different OUs (Organizational Units), say org1.local and org2.local. Two users are created under the OUs, the usernames being [email protected] and [email protected]
    In my SharePoint 2013 farm I've created a Web Application, say SharePoint - 80, to host the MySite Host Site Collections. I've also created two managed paths under SharePoint - 80, say, /personal and /sites.
    Now I want to create two user mysites, for the users created above. My question is that can we form the urls for the user mysites as below:
    http://HostSiteCollection1/personal/user1_org1_local (for user1 of OU org1.local) and
    http://HostSiteCollection2/sites/user1_org2_local (for user1 of OU org2.local)
    Please suggest as we are totally stuck.
    Thanks in advance,
    Arnab

    Hi,
    According to your post, my understanding is that you wants to create different MySites under different managed paths.
    We can create different managed paths for different MySites for UPA in partitioned mode.
    Harbar has written a good blog about creating the MySite host using that same multi-tenant setup.
    http://www.harbar.net/archive/2010/09/14/sp2010mt6.aspx
    Specifically, you use Set-SPSiteSubscriptionConfig to point to a particular OU for user accounts.
    Next, you create a site using New-SPSite bound to that subscription for your MySite Host (e.g. New-SPSite
    https://customerA.sharepoint.com/mysites -Template "SPSMSITEHOST#0")
    And finally you connect to the UPA Proxy that you previously created in partitioned mode to synchronize users with that particular subscription using Add-SPSiteSubscriptionProfileConfig -ID <Subscription ID> -SynchronizationOU CustomerA -MySiteHostLocation
    "https://customerA.sharepoint.com/mysites".

  • Timeouts for Discoverer Viewer and SSO

    We've enabled SSO for Discoverer Viewer 9.0.4. We set the Viewer timeout in the web.xml file to 120 minutes. We set the SSO Global user Inactivity Timeout to 240 minutes. Viewer sessions don't timeout at 120 minutes. Does the GUIT timeout override the Viewer timeout?
    --- Steve

    Hi
    As far as I know, the Viewer sessions don't time out using the Discoverer settings. These only affect Discoverer Plus. The SSO timeouts will apply though. Out of interest can you tell in which folder was the web.xml you modified?
    By the way, 240 sounds an awful long time to allow an SSO connection to stay active.
    Best wishes

  • Setup for Discoverer to have multiple sessions opening in different browser

    What is the setup for Discoverer or Windows 6 browser to have multiple discoverer sessions opening in different browser windows at the same time in Discoverer 10g Plus?
    We have implemented Discoverer 10g Plus just to be used as an extract tool. We have some workbooks retrieving 200,000 or more rows from an Oracle database. It is taking 30 to 45 minutes to download. Some users are able to open multiple sessions in different browsers to download more then one worksheet at the time, but we have other users who get an error message that they can only open one session at the time. What is the setup to allow users to open more than one Discoverer session?

  • Creation of user using su10

    Hello gurus,
    we can create a new user ID using su10 apart from su01. What is the difference that we can potentially face when we create using su10. Is there any disadvantage by creating this.
    Thanks

    SU01 is used for Individual user creation and user specific address data maitained.
    SU10 is for mass create/chage users, IF all users are idetical or you want change very idetical for all users than use SU10. However user specific details such as First name, Last name, Functions, Emails and so forth is not possible to maintain for individual user in SU10. More over if License type for each user is different in each user than you need to maintain individually.
    All parameter and defualt data should be identical if SU10 used other wise you need to maintain separatly for each one in SU01, if not maitained by user throough SU3.
    You can configure the LDAP from AD to SAP for solving some the points above.

  • SECATT - Mass creation of users with different assigned roles

    Hello! I've been tasked with creating an eCATT to do a mass creation of users and each user will have a different role assigned (besides the general roles). We're doing this to test out the different roles we have created. I've done some searching through the forums and found some different ideas but I'm not sure they are exactly what I need. One suggestion was to use SU10 to make the role assignement but I'm guessing I would still need to setup a parameter for each role so I would initially need to know how many roles would be entered. I would like for the eCATT to be able to handle assigning multiple roles to a user with each user possibly getting a different number of roles. Would anyone be able to suggest a way to assign different roles to different users through an eCATT?
    Thank you!

    Hi Wendy,
    To create users, maybe SU01 or SU10 can be used.  To assign users to a role, maybe you can try with PFCG.
    SU01 and SU10 have the view from the user - for each user, different roles can be selected and assigned to that user.
    PFCG has the view of roles - for each role, different users can be selected and assigned to that role.
    Hence if you know which roles should be assigned to which users, PFCG might be easier.
    Hope such information is helpful for you.
    Kind Regards, Qian
