Can any one help me how to create package in smartform. I tried to copy a standard program and it is asking for package location. Pls help me out.

when ever ur creating any new programs
it will ask for packege at t hat time specify ur ackage there
so it will store all ur programs under this package
u can create package also by going to table v_tdevc and go for create entries->

ERP shell creation package

For any ERP related package (except client deletion package), do we have to run "ERP shell creation package" at the very beginning?
The reason I ask this question is as follows:
To bring HR configuration to the target, we have 2 different methods:
1) client copy
2) TDMS package called "ERP initial package for MDC"
Therefore I have the impression that at least method 1) does not need a shell creation.
I am not sure whether method 2) needs a shell creation first or not.
Could you help explain?
Is there any other exception for shell creation?

Hello
No shell is not a mandatory step before TDMS ERP related package. General requirement of TDMS packages (time base or object based) is that the repository on both the sender and receiver should be identical. So in case the repository on both the system is already in sync then Shell is not needed. Also if there are minor differences in the repository then too it may not be required to do shell if the same inconsistencies could be removed manually or by importing some missing transports.
If the differences between the two systems are many or if the receiver system needs to be build from the scratch then Shell is required.

TDMS 3.0 for ERP 6.0: step by step procedure for TDSH6 Shell creation

I need to perform shell creation. I have never done this and need help with step by step instructions.
I need to refresh my my development system with a TDMS shell creation from production client in production system.
I am familiar with TDTIM and performed many TDTIM copies. I have gone throught the master and operational guides for TDMS also.
I would try to list down my understanding so far after reading the guides.
Please correct me if I am wrong ang also suggest correct steps.
1. All my three systems (central, sender and receiver) are ready from installation point of with with authorizations and latest SPs.
2. I log into Central/Control system and start a new package "ERP Shell creation package for AP Release higher 4.6 "
3. AS I have never executed this option I do not know what are the stps inside it.
   But I assume I should be asked for the source client details from which shell needs to be creates. (000 or pruduction client)
   What type of shell : slave or master?
4. During the shell creation from sender system client, is there a downtime for sender system.
5. Once the shell creation is done an export dump will created.
6. I perform all the preprocessing steps of a homogenous system copy on the receiver systems.
7. Stop receiver system, start sapinst database instance installation with homogenous system copy with R3load option.
8. Provide the export dump location to sapinst.
9. After database instance is installed, perform system copy specific post processing steps.
10. Afte the system is ready it has only one client 000 now available in development system and i need to create a new cleint from 000 which will act as my new development cleint.
I request all you experts to please provide your comments at the earliest as activity would be starting from 5th of this month.

Let me answer your questions.
Some queries
1. Is there a downtime for Production system (sender system).
   SAP recommends that nothing much should be going on during the export of the Sender(PRoduction) system, but so far i have never encountered an issue doing the export in online mode.
2. Shell creation works on both Production and 000 client or only Production client,
   Be carefull!!! - A Shellcreation is a normal Homogenous Systemcopy using R3load. You will create a 'new' system with the DDIC and clientindependent customization of the Sender system. ALL former data of the target system will be deleted.
You mention that you will refresh a development system that way. Please be aware of the implications that a development refresh contains. That said. After the refresh you will have the 000 client and parts (users ... authorizations of sonder) of the other clients on the new system.
3. when I import the the dump using sapinst, how many clients are available in receiver systems.
See above. All client configuration will be available, but nearly no data will be in these clients except 000. A manual part of the Shellcreation is to clean up the target system (delete the clients that are not needed) This is a fast process.
4. Soem where in the guide it is mentioned that downtime depends on the type of shell I create.
Kindly suggest should I create a master shell or slave.
Hm. The master shell is just a concept that you create a complete new system and put that system into your transport landscape without filling it with data. You can then use that system as the source for a normal (database dependent) systemcopy without impacting your prod system. The result is a very small copy that can be repeated very often without an impact to prod/QA...

This depends on your knowledge of homogenuous systemcopies and the preparation + some items like size of stxl and other tables that will be exported/imported. If you are very familiar with the systemcopy process using R3Load 2 days are feasable.
I have seen shellcreations done within 1-2 days but also much longer ones!
As a prerequisite i would always recommedn to have the latest R3* + migmon exe available on sender + target.

---The size of exports may depend on the data in your client independent tables. There are certain client indepedent table which hold a lot of data for example STXL, STXH and DYNP* tables. It also depends on the volume of custom development that you have done in your systems. Most of the client independent tables are exported in full duing shell.
I could understand that. I ran an optional activity u201CCheck size of large tables (optional)u201D in TDMS Shell package, it returns witj some large tables, such as
STXH- 190,854,900 KB
STXL- 26,819,840 KB
DYNPSOURCE- 20,452,251 KB, some of these are independent and some are dependent tables. For ex. STXH is dependent table with size 190GB, does it means that this table will be exported in full during shell export?
However, you need to be sure that because of certain mistakes you are not exporting the complete system (including application data). As stated by Marcus, you need to make sure that you are using Migration monitor in manual mode and that you configure the Migration monitor control file with correct parameter values.
I think I configured import monitor control file correctly and started it manually.

How do I set up a page that a user can edit online?

I am setting up a simple website for a restaurant moxibistro.com. The client has asked me to set up a page for her "Weekly Special" She wants to be able to edit this page once a week with a different special. She doesn't have a mac so I'm thinking there has to be an online service that she could use for this page. Is there something that I could just embed the HTML of that page into iWeb and it will update as she changes it.
I was thinking maybe she could use sites.google.com but I don't know if I could embed the page contents into my site or how I would make the theme look consistent.
Any ideas?

Basically, if your client does not have a Mac then don't use iWeb to create the site. iWeb is Mac only and if a client wishes to make alterations, then they need the domain file.
If your client needs to update on a weekly basis, then why not consider using one of the online website creation packages where you can log in from any Mac or PC. This would be simpler and there are lots out there - Microsoft Office Live or Google or something like http://www.wix.com where you can create a site and use a domain name with it.
Look at the alternatives before using iWeb.

Sub-admins, Shared Secret, and Automated Podcast Upload Access

Before the questions, the context:
Here at Iowa State, we've set up "sub-admins" for each of the colleges by managing an exceptions list. In this way, the sub-admins can create new courses from templates and help faculty upload content, but within their college area only. In addition, faculty automatically have upload access for their course(s) if the identifier is set up correctly by the sub-admin.
However, some of these sub-admins have asked for the secret question so that they can use their lecture capture package (and not the package supported by central IT (Echo 360)) to automatically upload course content.
As we all know, the secret question is the key to the site, circumventing any sub-admin access we've granted them, and essentially giving them full admin rights.
So, my questions are:
1. How are all of you handling the creation of new courses and content? That is, are all courses and other content created by one central person/office, or is the responsibility for creating and managing content shared among similar sub-admins?
2. If you have sub-admins, what is your policy for giving out the shared secret for the purposes of these packages?
3. Is there any way to allow these podcast creation packages the ability to auto-upload without handing out the shared secret?

My suggestion is that if you use Apple's time server (time.apple.com), then if Apple has the wrong time, your local time setting will be wrong by an equal amount. It's pretty unlikely that Apple's time server(s) will be off…but if they are, you're covered because the time stamp that you generate locally and the time stamp that Apple generates remotely will derive from the same source, whether or not that source is actually "correct" in an absolute sense, then, won't matter.
You are correct that Woolamaloo uses the local time of your Mac/PC. But if your local machine and your web portal machine time sync from the same time server, then they could be equally "wrong".
Another thing that I mentioned earlier is that all timestamps are measured from UTC or "Greenwich" time. So if your portal server/desktop machine isn't configured correctly for location, this will not be taken into account when your timestamps are generated. For example, I live in Chicago, which is currently under Central Daylight Time in the USofA. This means I'm UTC-5 hours, if memory serves. If I move to, oh, Duke University, but forget to change the locale on my computer, then my computer will continue to think that I'm UTC-5 when I should, in reality, now be UTC-4. So if you find that your timestamps are off by an exact number of hours, then it's a sure bet that your machines aren't setup correctly for their locales. Make sense?

Create new system and client with TDMS

I am tested the TDMS product with good results. I want create a new system and do one copy with time reduction time for new development system
What it´s the best solution?
- Install new system and do the client copy with TDMS
or
- System copy of production system, delete production client, create new client with UCUSV of productive system and copy client with TDMS?

In system B I don´t have any client but the Cross is diferent to system A
I select in TDMS - ERP Shell Creation Package for SAP Release higher 4.6C
System Definition;
- Control system - C (all information it´s correct)
- Sender system - A (Client 900)
But i dont have any information about the receive system (A).
When execute the synchronization appears the system A, but with any information (destination ID)
and I have the error: Could not change password of RFC Destination sender system

Would welcome suggestions for "best" substitute for .Mac w/ iWeb

I currently use my .Mac and iDisk for publishing from iWeb, a link from my web site to all of my photo galleries, and a few files stored on iDisk. Total amount of space is less than 10 GB. The only service I have ever used for these functions is .Mac, and I am looking for the best/easiest substitute once .Mac dies. Ideally I would like something that just works like what I have. BTW, I publish photos from Aperture. When I see postings about FTP, Fetch, etc., my aging brain gets even fuzzier. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Actually, no you don't, but what you do use is MobileMe.
You will need to get learning about the concept of ftp fast, because the only other alternatives to publishing sites to a server is by using ftp - either built into the package you are using or by downloading a programme for free called Cyberduck.
Alternative hosts to look at are http://www.hostexcellence.com or http://www.godaddy.com, but there are many others to choose from and they will be cheaper and give you more for your money than MobileMe did.
As far as iWeb is concerned, it is an app and will still work, so you can continue to use it, but if you want alternatives, take a look at RapidWeaver, Sandvox, Free Pro/Express, BlueGriffon etc. You can download tests of these. You can also consider the online web creation packages such as http://www.wordpress.com and then when you have a server, consider the content management systems such as Drupal, Joomla and http://www.wordpress.org which is server based. There are other online creation packages such as http://www.weebly.com.

Moving on...Alternative to iWeb to suit my requirements

I was wondering whether many have escaped from iWeb since they have announced they are not supporting it anymore?
My website today seems to have a problem displaying and think it may be related to me recently migrating to iCloud from mobileme. All I did to it last night was try and update the SEO
Obviously needs fixing so looking to start again rather than fix it.
Has anyone any experience with alternatives, who have actually used iWeb?
I've done a little googling a found RapidWeaver, it seems the way forward, I've seen a lot of other photographers use SmugMug too, can anyone comment on experience of any of these or other alternatives?
What I really want from it is some easy way of using it on my macbook and my iMac, it took too long to do this with iWeb also. I have a wireless hard drive if that helps the problem, and could I transfer my current site over or would I really have to start all over again?
I've just realised I can access other pages but not the home one, heres what I have now so hoping to match that and hopefully improve on it somehow

Yes I know this, I fixed the bug in my site now, so I have 6 months to make a new version still, I could just host it elsewhere (my domain name is with 123-reg so I may as well use them), but it may be a good move to upgrade at this point as iWeb will start to look updated and if Apple do not keep updating the software it may fall behind with lots of things, whereas something like Rapidweaver seems well supported and would always be upto date with new technology etc

What do you mean when you say "it cant import either"?
"The other programme to look at is Sandvox and then something like Freeway Pro or Express and all these are avaialble in the Mac App Store. If you want something more complex that can import code, then take a look at Flux. This is available from the Mac App Store too, but you can purchase it more cheaply from the company itself. There are online instruction videos and a pdf help document."

STILL no real answer to problems with QuickTime and Flash Player

The reply to Problems with QuickTime really didn't answer or solve the basic problem. Some sites to work at all require you to have working Flash Player 8 so when I try to use these sites I get the QuickTime logo with a question mark and then nothing. For all you experts on Apple and Mac; what is going on? Apple is the parent of QuickTime and I assume they want their customers happy with their work. So why is it so hard for these apparently small updates to their programs causing entire sites being blocked off? I have OS x 10.3.9 on a G4 iMac 855mHrz .... It seems that even though we, the customer by default become Apples program testers;the actual programers are never given the go ahead to actualy look at these problem posts. Has anyone ever gotten a solution for a problem they posted here from one of the programmers of the product? It would be nice to know we aren't left to our own devices when it comes to program gliches from the source. If the powers that be in apple are watching and willing to help; any time now is a good time to just but in on the conversation and help solve some of the problems us little people keep on running into.--------------
While online I run into sites that will NOT work without Flash Player 8 (which costs over $150.00) which is told to the viewer with a QuickTime logo with a question mark in it.
This leads the web surfer to try to upgrade or at least investigate Flash Player in their computer and it's version.When said web surfer looks at Flash player upgrade for bucks and the fact that in some way it is tied to QuickTime, web surfer gets real curious. Do the web masters for those sites know that their site is now blocked off? If any major portion ( say 30 or 40 % ) of the web surfing crowd is required to purchase an upgrade to Flash Player even though it doesn't look like Apple is the parent of said Flash Player; those web masters are going to be upset with Apple. Their income is tied to actuall access and browsing of a site, even if it is only to actually just get the Home page. With no access to the site due to no Flash Player 8, the web master is going to find those all important Hits going down to nil. -------
This post is way to broad for any one answer so I don't really expect one. But for you people who have run into similar problems with other programs and sites; I would love to hear if you got any help from other web surfers or from the parent people of those programs and/or sites. I know that my isp earthlink has helped out with problems faster than other groups involved. Anyway.. Any help or comment on this post ( or gripe if you prefer ) would be greatly appreciated. Sorry, but you are completely misinformed. Flash Player 8 doesn't cost one red cent; it's only the Flash creation package that you have to pay for. You can download the free Flash Player 8 here.
QuickTime can natively handle some Flash content, which is why with the lack of the Flash player the browser defaults to the QT plugin. But Flash 8 is a relatively new format from Macromedia and I'm not sure QT supports it yet. Install the Flash 8 player and things should work just fine.
And just FYI, for questions about the Mac version of QuickTime, you'll be better off asking them in the QuickTime for Mac forum.

Virtual shopping cart in iweb'09?

I would like to add a virtual shopping cart to my website-customers click on the check boxes and it adds it to a cart, the total is a quote only. I just want a simple cost calculator on my site. Is there a way to do this in iweb'09, or any html or some software (preferably free!) that could let me achieve this?

You could use something like an online store to do something like that. Do a Google search and see what comes up.
That definitely won't be free though.
Some of the online web site creation package contain store options built in - take a look at http://www.weebly.com and see if you could use this instead of iWeb.

Music Wont Add

I'm trying to add music to my music library but all of a sudden itunes isn't letting me, at first I was using the version 7.1 or what ever it was and just now updated to the version after it and it STILL isn't letting me add music to my library, I tried all sorts of different music from different folders and it still won't let me, anyone able to help me out?

Some MP3 creation packages munge the headers so that iTunes won't recognize them. You might consider doing a search for "MP3 header repair" on the web. That will turn up some tools for repairing headers; find one and give it a try on one of your problem tracks and see if that fixes the problem.

You have to connect as sys or system or any other user who has dba previleges to run this.
Note :
"user_name" is the user name which from whom you want to revoke prermission.
