Creativ Zen Dead Fore

Well after 3 months whit my Creativ Zen 8gb.
It have been dead for 2 days.
It frezzed on a file transfer when i moved files into my player.
It was still giving away the blue light but was unable to start it or enter the rescure/recovery mode.
So i used the reset thingy you know took something small and pressed the button inside on the player.
Which turned the player of but it didnt restart.
My battery is was fully charged before it died nothing is working not even the blue lamp is shining.
It dosent get detected by eny of my 3pcs.
A wall charger dosent work either its completly dead.
All my work and music which have been purchased is unreachable.
And i cant return it or get it repaired because more then 3 months have passed.
The worst of all is that my sister just brought the same player whit her savings and i hope she wont end up whitout a player.
If theres enyone ho has a clue what i can do right now then i am happy to listen.
For those ho is almost having the same issue or other intrested persons:
After 2 weeks when i brought it i had a similar issue when moving files.
It died like now,The blue lamp was still shining and i was unable to do enything.
I didnt know about the reset thingy so it was completly out of the question back then.
So what i did was waiting.
The batteri runned out after a day and was able to connect it to the pc and recharge it and acces it agin.
So if the file transfer fail and you cant start it up dont press the reset thingy.
Because thats what i did after reading the help stuff here and i am unable to get it working agin.
I have only had this issue twice which both time acured when i was moving files.
(not .mp3 or .avi there's a data folder or something on the mp4 where you can store all other stuff which dont remb the name on)
The only time this problem can occur is when you move stuff in or out of that folder.
Have heard that this problem have been or almost every mp3 of your products so i will most likely never purchase a mp3 from you ever agin.
It was really a good one,The best one i ever had so far.
But if this issue had been solved on your later products then i would most likely get a new one.

If you want to connect it to USB "like a memory stick" and drag songs over like it was a dri've, the Plays for Sure firmware upgrade will get you that.

  • Creative zen touch for mac o

Hi, I just bought a mac (with os x) and i have my creative zen touch, but i cant seem to find any software for it to work together. I cant be the only one with this problem, what do i do?

To my knowledge there is currently no software support for the Zen Touch for any Mac OS, including OS X. If you purchased your player recently it's likely to have the Plays for Sure firmware installed, which will only work with Microsoft Windows XP Home and Pro with Windows Media Player 0 or higher.
I looked for Mac supporting drivers at onetime across the internet, but the ones i found were incredibly buggy and of course were third-party and not from Creative. Unless there has been an update on the "support" section for Mac applications, you're pretty much stuck unless you can find third-party software for your Mac.Message Edited by 2027746 on -9-20060:28 PM

Are we ever going to get an update for the creative zen standard version so that it will play on xbox360 ect by the play for sure standard?. I have had this player for 2 months and think its great, however not being able to connect to xbox360 is dissapointing. Have just noticed they have now got the player on the site in the download section, but no firmware update

  • Creative zen cras

i havent used my old creative zen (20gig) for a month or 2, mainly because the battery was dead and i lost my charger. well i found it today and decided to charge it up and start using it again. it started normally, as per usual the music came on when i conected the charger, so i pressed the on/off button to turn it off and left it for an hour or so. when i came back to itit had the shutting down screen still on it and it wont do anything, pressing buttons doesnt work, reconnecting to the charger doesnt work, connecting to my pc doesnt work. basically i want to know how to solve this without using my trusty hammer ?

doesnt matter now, its been sorted ?----------------dt------------

  • Creative zen touch problem - mediasource says it's emp

i've had my creative zen touch for more than a year and a half and used it every day with it working fine. a couple of weeks ago mediasource loaded it as empty on my pc. however all my music is still on it and i can play directly from the player but not through my computer. i've tried opening the player through other programs but this doesn't work either. i've tried uninstalling and reinstalling all of the creative software that came on the cd with it (mediasource, nomad explorer etc.) but it hasn't worked. does anybody know why this is and how i can fix the problem it's a bit annoying because i can't put any new music on it. thanks very much in advance. jonny.

  • Creative Zen Radio Issue

    Creative Zen Radio Issue?Hey,
I've had this creative zen player for some time now whilst im overall happy with my product, sadly there is all of a sudden a issue with it.
When i listen to the radio then lock it to just enjoy it - if i then unlock it, some times the screen locks up and stays black.
Whilst a reset solves this it doesn't stop it happening again.
But (this is a big but)...
The volume which i have on safely low - goes to compelte maximum with sound safety option off. It almost defeaned me when it occured and had ringing in my ears. I have booked an appointment with doctors as the ringing yes not really gone since.
Additionally im pretty sure my headphones are screwed as they were totally distorted when this occured which has probably ruined the quality of the speakers which were only a few months old.
So is this well known ? Cos im surprised no one has sued for loss of hearing if others have had this issue. I've yet to have my medical results on it - but would mostly prefer to have my mp3 fixed or replaced cos i cannot risk using it and having it do it again and make my hearing become damaged.
    Thanks for reading.

Does the radio stop working right after lock? I locked the player right after choosing a radio station and the player continues to play. You might want to contact our Customer Support to see if they can help you further.

  • Creative Zen Micro: Headphone Ja

Hi! I was thinking of getting a Creative Zen Micro for my fiancee this Christmas, but the problem I keep reading about in reviews is how the headphone jack keeps messing up. It's a shame since we're both anti-iPods and were thinking of better alternati'ves to use. Does anyone know if this problem has been fixed for the newer Zen Micros? If so, is there any way to tell if a Zen Micro is of the newer fixed version, or the old? I really wouldn't want to get her something that breaks two months down the road, but if it wasn't for this problem the Zens are looking pretty slick.

Well, if it were for myself I wouldn't mind taking a risk, but it's not.. and for over $200 I'd rather get her a product that works, even if I have to pay a little more for it. :/ Does anyone know for sure? I've heard a lot of rumors that it has been fixed, with nothing to confirm it but people hoping their 3rd Micro replacement won't fizzle out, but I figure I might get a real answer by posting on the Creative forum.

  • HELP! Creative Zen Tuch "Re-building Libra

My zen tuch was freezin up so I reset it.
and it gave me the "creative zen" screen for a while
and now it has a buncha papers with musical notes and says "re-building library"
im not sure weither to try restarting it again if its doing somthing importent?
    anyone know what this is?

How long has it been on that screen, and how big is your music collection (on the player)?
If it's still on that screen then that isn't normal (it's a few hours later now). When you restart the player, it's best to go into Rescue Mode to do a Clean Up.

  • Creative Zen Xtra stopped loading music with 5.7g space left? H

Ive been using my 30g Creative zen xtra for close to two years loading ripped cds using mediasource. I have .20.8 firmware and have had no problem.Last night with zen showing 5.7 gis of space left I tried to load a few ripped cds as usual using mediasource and usb. The action went the same as usual with mediasorce telling me songs were being tranfered but when completed they were not in player. I tried it a few tims with different usb ports and cords but still songs not in player. The only thing Ive done different is last week I used player interface to delete one cd and it went fine.
My biggest fear is having to reload close to ten thousand songs back into my Zen Xtra if i loose them trying to get transferring to work again. If I use the scandisc feature would that cause my library to need to be reloaded?Perhaps i should just leave well enough alone and just use the zen as a player of all my music and not try to fix it. I know there is 5.7 gigs of space left,I have been encoding my songs at 96 bites so space should not be an issue.Any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks [email protected]

Would clean up from recovery mode help solve this problem without loosing my music content?
Hard to say whether it will help but you can try. Cleanup shouldn't delete any of the content unless the player has gone completely haywire.

  • Re: Creative Zen 20 gb batt

    Hi,
I was wondering what could be done once the rechargeable battery runs out for the Creative 20 gb. Is it possible to purchase another rechargeable battery like the Creative Zen Micro for example. I am unsure which one would be the best one to buy. Thanks.

This battery is built-in so replacement have to be done by sending it back to Creative.

  • Creative Zen Micro - No Space on Harddisk although deleting fi

Hi,I've been using my Creative Zen Micro for months creating mp3-playlists with the program Creative Media Source. But suddenly the program tells me there's no space left on my player-harddisk so I cannot copy more files from my pc to the player. The funny thing is: When I'm deleting via the source-window of Creative Media Source, the shown playlists disappear as well on the source-window as on the player itself. BUT: the program still tells me there's no space on my player-harddisk! The program is realizing my deleting-actions by subtract the deleted playlist from the total playlist-amount. But doesn't subtract anything from the?byte-amount on my player-harddisk. So: how can I really delete files or playlists from my player and create space for new files? As I want to create a playlist for the soon birth of my daughter, I'd appreciate quick help from you! Thanks a lot to everyone!?

There was a problem caused on at least some Sony laptops, caused by a clash with some Sony driver.
If you're running Win XP, go to Control Panel > System (or hold down the Flag key + Pause/Break), Advanced, Startup and Recovery settings, disable Automatically Restart.
Next time it bluescreens, what file is referred to?

  • Creative Zen 32GB - Is it Dead?

Hi. I bought a Creative Zen 32gb Flash player in January 2009.
It was mostly OK for the first year or so. By then, it was almost full.
Last summer, it began crashing on me every so often. I assumed it was just because it was almost full, but as time went on it crashed more and more.
Sometimes it would play slightly garbled songs, almost like in the good old days when your cassette deck would chew up your D-90s.
When using the locking function, it would crash completely, requiring the judicious use of a pin to reset it.
Then it would crash when plugging it into headphones or the cable connecting to my AUX port on my car stereo.
The other day, it crashed and I thought - right, its been going a couple of years now, I'll back it up and then go into recovery mode, clean up the memory and then reboot, as recommended in the user guide. I tried backing up the player but it got about halfway through and crashed out.
I then thought to hell with it - I've got most of my music backed up anyway, and the clean up might not mess with it too much, so I tried to follow the cleanup instructions but everytime I let go of the Play button, it would crash out.
If I held the play button down, it would work, but the buttons are so close together, if I changed pressure on the play button while selecting "clean up", it would crash out. Still, I thought I'd managed it but it would not restart or dock, or pretty much do anything except let me go into recovery mode (while pressing Play, of course).
I then thought I'd just reformat the player - again, through the recovery menu since it would not dock with my PC (Win Vista, 32bit). That made no difference. It would not start, would not dock etc etc.
I then thought I would upgrade the firmware, downloaded it from Creative, and managed to get it to go so far, before it crashed out. And that's it - I can just about get it to start, sometimes, and then the screen will go black, or white, or red and black striped once. It will not dock at all. I can press reset as much as I like but the best I can get it to do is get to the recovery menu for a few seconds before crashing, or I can get it to display the Creative logo for a few seconds before, again, it crashes.
Its sat right now with a black screen and the blue light on. I cannot turn it off, or get any response from it at all.
So, is this now a dead mp3 player? Is it likely a hardware fault? If firmware/software, is there any way to fix this or should I just chalk this up to experience and accept that ?60 odd of mp3 player just isn't built to last very long?
And if its dead, what to replace it's I want Creative stuff to be better than it seems to be, and I am loathe to buy iPod. Sony? Wife has one and its fine, but not enough storage. Any recommendations?

I've had my Zen32GB for a year and have loved it up to this morning. I added a few photos to it and now its been stuck in "Rebuilding" for the last two hours. I can dock it and get into it, copy files, etc, but it will not play. I have been using a handy pin to reset it, then it goes back into Rebuilding. It doesn't appear to be a hardware problem as the buttons were working fine. A lost cause?
On the recovery mode screen, can you try doing a CleanUp>Reboot?

  • Creative Zen V Plus Dead after char

I put my Creative Zen V Plus and charged it on my laptop. I forgot my laptop has a standby option after 30 minutes and I put it in, went to sleep... woke up 6hours later, and my mp3 player was dead. I tried turning in on by holding the button for extended periods of time, I tried plugging it in?my desktop computer which had the drivers also.... I've tried reseting it.. but nothing works. Is there anything left to do or should I send back?

The player battery might be depleted so connect it to the computer and charge it for a longer period of time. Also, while connected, try pressing the Reset button/hole by the side of the player.
