Creative Audigy 2 ZS Firewire, and Multiple Speaker Questi

Hi I currently own a Audigy 2 ZS. I understand that it has a Firewire port on the back. I have a Firewire port on my case. If i wanted to plug the Firewire on the front of my case into the Audigy, how would I go about doing that? Is it possible? I also have Headphone and Microphone Jacks on the front of my case, can I enable those also? What will I need to disable to get both of these?
Also, how many different speakers can i have connected to the sound card at once without purchasing an adapter. I have one Digital Set, One Flat Panel Set, One Desktop Speaker Set, and One Headphone with Microphone. THe Headphone with Mic always needs to be plugged in, along with the Digital Set. Do I have room for the flat panel and the Desktop Speakers? Or should I buy a stereo splitter from Radio Shack? Thanks for your help.
-Dave

D3vL,
Yes that's normal for stereo stuff since they only have 2 channel without CMSS. It's just that Li've and Audigy 2 ZS is built a little differently.
With CMSS2, the sound effect on center and rear speaker maybe a little soft but you should have sound output also. Try adjusting the Stereo Focus slider and see if it makes any different. Since you are using the soundcard upmix feature, turn off the upmix feature(LED off) of the S750 on the control pod.

  • Creative Audigy 1 Platinum and 2.1 Surround So

    Ok, i have a Audigy Plat. so have the front dri've etc etc.... i also have the Creative i-trigue 3300 which is a 2. surround sound system....at the moment the way it works is that i connect the 2 speakers into the sub woofer and then the sub woofer into my sound card...thouhg this maybe a 2. system, in real terms the sound card doesnt treat it as a 2. system...
    I was just wondering if i can connect like the sub to the digital/analog out of the card and the 2 speakers to the rear and line out of the card?
    Reagrds

    For 2. and 4., those 2 and 4 speaker settings are what the proper settings are called. Your speaker's sub will control what it sends to the satellites.
    Don't worry, they just didn't change the labels. Most cards send the full signal out and most speakers take it from there.
    5. is different as the card sends dedicated signals to all 6 speakers.

  • AirTunes and Multiple Speaker

    When using the multiple Speakers option in AirTunes, does the music play through the computer speakers and all other AirPort Express connected speakers, or just AirPort Express connect speakers. I'm trying to set up a Mac Mini in my living room connected to my TV and sound system, and stream music to my kitchen via AirPort Express. But I would like both sets of speakers working at the same time.

    when you select multiple speakers and add your AirPort speakers you will hear both the computer and the remote speakers.
    The volume of the computer speakers is controlled as usual with the F4/F5 buttons, which has no effect on the remote speakers. My remote speakers have their own volume control. In fact you can mute the computer speakers and the remote speakers contiue playing.
    I don't know if you can select more than one AirPort speaker, assuming you have several AirPort boxes. I only have one.

  • Creative Audigy and M-Audio Studiophile LX4 Prob

    Hi
    I build computers but I hang my head in shame at my knowledge of sound cards in my computer I have an Creative Audigy sound card and I have just purchased the M-Audio Studiophile LX4 2. speaker system.
    I?m having a problem hooking it up as at the moment the sub is running of the left and right inputs. If I plug the sub input into the digital/audio out like I?m supposed to it doesn?t do any thing. I have CMSS enabled so I know it'ss not that.
    Can any one help me?

    ...just use the normal stereo output (green plug) for 2. speakers. Despite the name, there is no separate "sub" input on ANY 2. speakers on the market: they all work with a stereo signal, and the sub channel is separated by a low-pass filter inside the speaker's amp itself.

  • Audigy 2 zs and logitec z

    Hi there,
    I can't seem to figure out which digital cable to use to connect audigy 2 zs and my speaker system (logitec z680). the speaker system has a option of digital coaxial and optical output but the sound card doesn't have coaxial or optical ports (why wouldn't this sound card have coaxial port when most entertainment media has it's?).
    My speakers work (for most part) with analog cables, but i want to enjoy the actual digital experience thats meant to be with these speakers and this card but it appears that i can't. Can you plz tell me what to do because with analog cables, either my center speaker doesn't work or if that works, other speakers don't work. Can you tell me which digital cable should i use? because for some reason, not many people know which digital cable you have mentioned in ur user manual.
    I am really fed up because i just spent over $500 in total and i can't enjoy all the quality of this speaker system and the soundcard that makes up the price.
    thank you

    Hi there
    If you are looking to use the coax then you need the converter (mini plug to female RCA). I'd be amazed if Creative couldn't sell you one. I got one as part of my GD580 pack. I think it is a special mini-plug though specific for this job.
    Word of warning on the coax digital if you do hook it up - no good for gaming. You need the analogues for the best gaming sound (EAX doesn't come through digital SPDIF - only stereo through the SPDIF believe it or not). The coax digital should do you for DVDs and similar DD5./AC3 encoded material but only if you set the SPDIF to passthrough and allow an external decoder to take care of converting to the 6 discrete signals.
    The question is therefore which has the best decoder - the Audigy or the z680? I don't know the answer to that but knowing the agony I've just been through with my GD580, I'd recommend sticking with the analogues. I'm upgrading my system to do exactly that. If you were going to a decent Home Theatre decoder/amp with the digital signal then that may be one case where the digi out from the card would be of use.
    Hope that hel
    ps.

  • Creative Audigy 2 Zs + Atheros AR8121

    Hello, I got myself a Creative Audigy 2 Zs and it's working perfectly, but during high network load if I use WASAPI or ASIO with the card, I get a bsod in ~5-5mins. The BSOD is pointing to my Atheros AR82 driver LE62x64.sys. Any ideas how to fix this problem? Minidumps tell me that the problem is IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL and as said, probably caused by LE62x64.sys. Enabling my integrated HDA audio and using WASAPI with it, there are no BSODs under high network load. Also, if I use DirectSound with the card and stress my network, no bsods. I have all the latest drivers and the OS is Windows 7 64-bit. Regards, Jani

    i think i know the answer, as i had the same problem myself when trying to use my regular PC mic with the front Mic-In on my Paltinum Pro. apparently, these smaller mics (like on your headset) don't work with the powered jack on the front. the the front panel Mic-In requires a "dynamic" microphone to pick up the signal- (but the back panel mic-in is designed for the smaller mics). once i got a dynamic mic for the front panel it works great. you can pick them up at most electronic stores from anwhere from $5 on up. Good luck!

  • Creative Audigy And Speak System Not Loud.

    I built an entertainment computer, running Windows Media Center 05, back in June. The entire time I've had it, it's been very quiet as far as the sound goes. I've finally had it, so I'm trying to get some help. The system is an AMD 2800+ with 52MB RAM; I have an Audigy 2 ZS and a "Creative Inspire P7800 90 Watts 7." Speaker system. To hear movies, mp3s, music videos, and so forth, I must turn the PC volume all the way up as well as the little wheel that is attached to the subwoofer all the way up. I still continually have friends complaining they can't hear movies when we're watching them... How can I get these systems to play louder, as I feel they ought to be doing by default?

    ...just use the normal stereo output (green plug) for 2. speakers. Despite the name, there is no separate "sub" input on ANY 2. speakers on the market: they all work with a stereo signal, and the sub channel is separated by a low-pass filter inside the speaker's amp itself.

  • Creative Audigy 2 NX OLD and undercapable drivers are way below industry standa

    Hello All,
    I have tried not to push this, for the past year, but I have really reached the end of my patience. The driver support for the Audigy 2 NX (USB-External) sound card is nearly 'non-exsistant'and it is have a major adverse effect on my gaming.
    It has been more than a year since Creative has taken the time to provide the many owners of the Audigy 2 NX -USB sound card with a driver that is anywhere near the capabilities of the sound chip in our device. We do NOT have support for Open AL, we do not have 'REAL' support for EAX 3 or 4 (I mean a driver that REALLY works on most; Lucasarts, EA, and Valve games), and NO HD 'Dependable' support in games or DVD play back.
    This is a crime, seeing as this card costs JUST as MUCH as the Audigy 2 ZX (that I also own, and bought FIRST for my HP zd8230us... and used until HP Tech support told me to NOT use the PCMCIA card) and yet has Half the features and lass than /4 the driver support... for the same money!! That is right, I said 'Crime', because I have been buying and using ONLY Creative cards for the past years and have never EVER seen Creative turn their backs on a product the way they have done with the Audigy 2 NX.
    Let me be 'Brutally Honest' about the lack of support and 'Expanding Use' of a FINE audio chipset. While Creative has regularlly expanded the features and use of the chipset in the ZS notebook card (added EAX 4.0 support, refined the HD support, and made regular driver updates), they have left the owners of the NX sound card BACK in the 20th Century. There is NO support for; EAX 4.0, Open AL, OR THX for my NX the very same people have gone out of their way to provide ALL of those features and regular updates and expansion of these SAME features in the ZX Notebook card. I have both of these cards, and have used both in my HP Pavilion zd8230us Notebook computer. I have to be clear and precise, the difference in; sound, use, and capabilities of the ZX to the NX is like putting a SB 'Li've' card against and Audigy 4 card. I paid the exact same amount of money for BOTH cards, yet (because my mobo does not support the PCMCIA card) I am left with this 'Black Sheep' of the Creative family, and this has me at the point I am seriously thinking of never buying another Creative product for ANY of my four desktops and one notebook in my entire life.
    I am experiancing problems with the NX card on; Half Life 2 and HL2 - Episode , ANY Lucasarts game (they work sometimes and mostly do NOT), MOST EA Games titles, and Activision games are not much better. In my current notebook hardware, my Audigy 2 NX is the 'Weak Link' in the chain. I have a Pentium 4 HT 650 (3.4Ghz-800 Mhz FSB), ATI X-600 PCIe 28MB video card, 024 MB 533 MHz DDR2 RAM, and XP Professional with Media Center 2005. My Audigy 2 NX is what is keeping this system from reaching it's FULL and AWESOME capabilities in; Gaming, DVD playback, TV HD audio, Media Center On Line services, CD & DVD Audio playback, and every other Audio aspect of my near cutting edge system.
    This is completely unacceptable, and to add insult to injury. When ever I contact Creative support regarding updated drivers, or problems with the current *MORE than year old drivers, I am told "Creative has no plans to update or upgrade the drivers for your sound card". WOW, that is the lowest point in years of purchasing and using Creatives (usually) fine products and services. Why has Creative turned it's back on the awesome sound card/chipset and is there ANYTHING that a lifetime user of Creative products can do to get more and better support for the ONLY product you make that is compatible (as per HP) with my new notebook computer? I am dead tired of this product being the 'Bottleneck' in my system. I am frustrated, to the extreme, at the completely apathetic technical support for a 'same priced' item as the ZX.
    What can a consumer do?
    Terribly Desperate,
    Enzo Matrix

    <SPAN>OK, first; thanks for the link. It is very much appreciated. Next, this is the only card <EM>compatible</EM> with my Pavilion zd8230us (as per HP Senior Support Technicains). I was told that the Audigy 2 zx PCMICA was compatible (BY Creative), only to be told by HP that that card can and will do damage to my notebook. I find it very disturbing that Creative would suggest a product that would damage my computer! Last, the box (for the NX) says that it is 24 bit HD audio 96KHz/02db Signal to noise ratio. As well, it clearly states ON THE FRONT OF THE BOX:
    <SPAN>
    <SPAN><EM>"...EAX ADVANCED HD game effects"</EM> <SPAN>
    <SPAN>
    <SPAN>Sorry, but in English (at least <EM>American</EM> English) that means it supports EAX in games, yes? lol So, THEY Are the ones that decided to put that on the FRONT of the box, if it doesn't support it then they should have a class action lawsuit filed against them by EVERY SINGLE person that ever purchased an NX and we should be paid for; purchase price, pain and suffering, and puniti've damages. THEN Creative might learn a lesson. roflol<SPAN>
    <SPAN>
    <SPAN>Now on to the <EM>'driver'</EM> isssue. Simple, Alexs3d2, the American consumer expects 'Driver Updates'. Why? Simple, what version of Direct X was standard when the NX came out, and what version are we using now? Microsoft sees fit to improve the API that Creative is making money off of, but Creative does NOT see the responsibility to the consumer to keep UP with the technology that we end users update on a regular basis. Next, I am tired of people dogging ATI <EM>BECAUSE</EM> they have taken on the responsibility to issue monthly driver updates! Granted, Alex, you may well understand 'what' the driver updates ARE better than the average user. However, that does NOT dismiss the BETTER PERFORMANCE that WE experience every single we update or display adapter drivers! Just because slough (on the part of SOME companies) is accepted by a small cross section of the population does not mean that the rest of us should LOWER our expectations? of the company that WE keep in business. Least THEY forget that WE are the reason they ARE in business!!! Driver updates are <EM>GOOD</EM>. Driver updates are what end users EXPECT. Any company that does not want to support a product that is still on store shelves should just pack up and leave. Period. <SPAN>
    <SPAN>
    <SPAN>Last, here is a little quote from the back of the NX box. <SPAN>
    <SPAN>
    <EM><SPAN>"USB 2.0 is only supported in Windows XP and REQUIRES ONLINE SOFTWARE update(s) from Microsoft and SOUNDBLASTER.COM..." <SPAN></EM>
    <SPAN>
    <SPAN>How the hell am I supposed to accomplish THAT when Creative <EM>screws</EM> me out of what they tell me I require? <SPAN>
    <SPAN>
    <SPAN>In closing; this venue is not the only place that I have been sounding off a bout this problem. I have written Creative (SB) Tech support, and they are giving me 'double speak'. I have kept every single email that they have sent back, and cc'd to another email addy for verification. I li've in California, and you can not swing a dead cat without hitting an attorney. I WAS hoping that Creative would be GOOD and RESPONSIBLE partners, but they have forced my hand. I have filed a complaint with the California Department of Consumer Affairs, and am in the process of gathering users for the afore mentioned 'Class Action Lawsuit'. This way, the PEOPLE get to decide WHAT is responsible corporate stewardship, and <EM>IF</EM> Creative is acting in a deliberate way to misrepresent their products, and their capabilities and <EM>IF</EM> they should have to release Drivers just the way they tell us they are going to on the packaging!! <SPAN>
    <SPAN>
    <SPAN>EnzoMatrix<SPAN>
    <SPAN>
    <SPAN>P.S. Umm, the whole Nazi thing... that is a bit over the top. I am Jewish, and Creative may have killed my love of their products, but I do not know of anyone that they have actually killed. If you know otherwise, let me know... that info could come in very handy in my class action lawsuit!! roflol
    <SPAN><SPAN>P.P.S. Looking at this forum, I get the impression that I am not the only person that feels screwed by SB and Creative. THAT should make for a VERY favorable jury pool for the lawsuit.

  • Creative Audigy lack of specifics and vaguen

    First of all, let me just say that i've never known a hardware card maker that can be so popular
    while at the same time be some of the most incredibly vague people on the planet. Its absolutely
    amazing. Case example:
    Exhibit A. I'm a computer tech and I come
    across an Audigy card in computer that i'm
    fixing so I need the *correct* drivers.
    Exhibit B. I have an Audigy cd-rom disk from apreviously owned card. I try to install the driverbut they're obviously incorrect but ALAS! the
    cd-rom i'm holding say its for an Audigy.
    Exhibit C. The drivers don't work correctlyso I check my windows Control Panel to seeif theres a way to *specifically" identifyit but the only thing it says is "Sound BlasterAudigy". Lovely. So, which brand could it be?
    Exhibit D. Ok, I need the correct drivers fora *specific* Audigy brand and I go to the Creativewebsite to do a search for Audigy drivers. Whatdo I find? About 0 different Audigy cards. Great.Here we go with the lack of specifics and vagueness....
    Exhibit E. So I proceed to take the card out ofthe computer and look at the model number toidentify it. It says "Soundblaster Audigy Model SB0090" and below that it also says"Audigy SB394 Advanced HD". So i'm thinkinghmmmm could this be an SB0090 or an SB394 butI soon find out its an SB0090 because an SB394is a "Firewire chip", which leads me to....
    Exhibit F. I find a link on the Creative websitethe says "Identify your product" and behold Ifind the SB0090 listed but its only listed as "Sound Blaster Audigy card with gold jack connectorand 394 port"..... so its off to the loony bin again.Again, which brand Creative? Still theres 0 differentbrands and still no way to specifically identify it!
    Exhibit G. Maybe I can tell by looking atthe pictures of the products provided on thewebsite. What do I find? Several differentcards that all look the same! They have the "gold jack connectors and 394 port" aswell as the "Advanced HD".
    So what is it's A "Gamer"? An "LS"? A "Platinum"or could it be an Audigy 2? WAKE UP CREATIVE,YOUR SOOOO VAGUE! Heres proof in summary:
    . Windows Control Panel - "Sound Blaster Audigy"But which brand?
    2. On the card itself - says "Sound Blaster AudigyModel SB0090".... but leads to nowhere becauseCreative's "Identify Your Product" only says:
    3. "gold jack connectors 394" but theresmore than one brand (Firewire) that look the
    same in the pictures!
    And here I am still with an unknown "Audigy" brand and no drivers that I can be sure willcorrectly work. Amazing, because if I were the owner of this card instead of the computertech, i'd probably throw your "Audigy" in the garbage (but i'd probably hit it with a sledgehammer a few times first).Message Edited by ZauR on 2-04-2004 09:55 PM

    ZauR,
    The Audigy downloads are listed by the packages that they came in. This was done to insure that customers that purchased a specific type of card (say an Audigy Gamer) would know that they were going to the right place. The driver pages for all but the LS is the same. So it isn't really a case of being vague, we are actually being rather specific (as a single listing for "Audigy" would be vague). Since there was never a retail package that was just an "Audigy" there is no listing like that.
    For the SB0090, I would suggest going to the Audigy Gamer download page (it is what I use for my SB0090) but really any of the pages except for the LS will work. The Audigy LS is the only Audigy card that requires different drivers and software.

  • Audigy 2 ZS and windows 7 only mapping a 2.1 speaker playback

    =Audigy 2 ZS and windows 7 only mapping a 2. speaker playback? I have an Audigy 2 ZS and windows 7-64,?it seems to be?only? mapping a 2. speaker setup for audio playback?with regards to WMP, Mediasource player and other similar sources.
    Under Xp and vista would have just selected surroundsound under the creative audio console, but now that option is unavailable and probably not supported under Win7.
    I have a 5. set of speakers, 5. mapping?is working for sources that do support it such as games and DVDs.
    My question is"is this a known problem with my card and win7 or a problem with my system setup/configuration"
    For the time being, i'm having to boot into Vista whenever?I fancy listening to some music which is of course quite inconvenient.
    Please someone let me know if there is a fix for this, creative mod or user, anyone.
    Much appreciated,

    Have you checked the volume button? It might be physically stuck. To determine whether a hardware repair is needed, you need to follow these steps:
    1. Try doing a hard reset:
    Press and hold both the Home button and the Sleep/wake button simultaneously for about 15 seconds and release when the Apple logo appears.
    After that: test the device to see whether the issue is solved.
    2. If the issue is not solved, you should backup the device and restore it as new.
    In that case, use: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4137
    NB: set up as a NEW device because a software issue will be in the backup.
    If the issue persists after restoring as new, you should offer the device for service.
    If you get specific error messages/codes in iTunes when updating/restoring, check this: http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3694 for causes and solutions
    Good luck

  • Audigy 2 ZS and internal Firewire P

    I purchased an Audigy 2 ZS and love it already, but am wondering something. The platinum version has a dri've bay panel with a firewire port that connect to the 394 plug on the Audigy 2 card.
    My computer case has a Firewire port on the front of it and was thinking about hooking it up to the card. I have the following connection wires in my case:
    TPA+.....matches Pin on card
    TPA-......matches Pin 2 on card
    Ground..matches Pin 3 on card
    Ground..matches Pin 4 on card
    TPB+....matches Pin 5 on card
    TPB-.....matches Pin 6 on card
    I also have VP and VG wires. I'm assuming these are voltage, but not sure. If so they would match with Pins 7 and 8 on the card, but I'm not sure which goes to which.
    According to the card Pin 9 is not used.
    I also don't have a PHY_GND wire which matches with Pin 0 on the card.
    Has anyone gotten this to work with something along the same lines?
    Anyone have any suggestions?
    Thanks Michael

    I was trying to watch Episode one (with Dolby sourround EX) with power DVD 6 an Windvd 6 plat but i'm having problems with my 8 channel output because when i start the THX optimizer, the sound that is supoused to be heard on my side speakers, comes from the rear speakers and the sound from channels 6 & 7 (Rear center) its also coming from those speakers. This Failure also happens with the Windvd Channel test: side speakers doesn't work and in power DVD 6, CLMEI II technology does not work with side speakers. The only way to get sound from my side speakers is with CMMS.
    The tests for the THX console for audigy 2 complete succesfully altough it keeps me saying that my side speaker and sub aren't wired correctly (polarization test). The channel and noise testing goes ok besides that.
    This problem is exclusi've to DVD watching beacause with EAX HD 3.0 or 4.0 games, i'm not having any problem.
    is Dolby digital EX in episode really works with 7. configurations (region 4)?
    How do i need to configure this players to work with the installed decoders?
    Are my speaker set defecti've?
    Can i buy some kind of monster cable to imrpove my sound?
    It's that all right that the sound from 5. tracks (DD or DTS) is played from the front and rear speaker and not in the side ones?
    Note:
    The supoused wiring problems repeats itself even if i change the connector of the the side speakers with the rear ones (that are soppoused to work fine). That means (i think) this problem isn't caused by the speakers wiring (i think i made it ok) could it be that the 7. cable is deffecti've?
    What to do? Please Help me
    Creative Staff: where i can go to check this on Mexico city? is there any sopport center where i can go and get some help?
    My config:
    Audigy 2 ZS and Creative inspire 7. T7700

    My guess is that your PowerDVD and WinDVD versions don't have ES support and you're using the programs to decode. This might be the case if you are configuring the programs for multiple speakers. If you are, try configuring them for SPDIF output, then make sure the soundcard is configured to decode AC3/DTS (it probably is). Does that help?
