Does anyone know, whether or not Creatve's new Zen V Plus player displays the album art while playing a song? If not then Creative can keep it as far as I'm concerned.

I don't quite understand Creative's strategy in releasing a gig Zen V, and especially a gig Zen V plus. If it was up to me I would have the Zen V and V plus available in 2, 4, or 6 gigs. The one gig capacity is covered by Nano Plus. Perhaps a more interesting idea would have been to release a 2 gig Nano Plus, and release the V and V Plus in 4 gigs, 6 gigs and 8 gigs capacities. Will Creative soon release a flash memory based mp3 player with at least 2 gigs of storage that uses a AAA battery?
They're supposed to be slimming down their MP3 player product line I think, so I wouldn't expect them to release yet another player. I definitely don't like your idea, some people want a V or V Plus in a lower capacity than 4 GB, if they didn't have lower capacities people might turn to other companies with a similar player in lower capacity (and thus, a lower price).Message Edited by HHS on 06-25-2006 :0 AM

  • Computer doesn't not find my new Zen V Plus

Well, I got my new Zen V Plus 8gb yesterday, installed ZEN V Series Media Explorer and Creative MediaSource 5 Organizer (aswell as the drivers for the Zen etc.)
I've charged the player for more than 6 hours, but my computer can't find it, it just doesn't show up, it says "please connect your creative zen to your computer" or somethign similar when I try to use Creative MediaSource 5 Organizer, and ZEN V Series Media Explorer just don't locate it.
I can start the player and browse around in it etc. so it works, my computer just can't locate it, it can recharge it though.
(I'm not having any of these problems with an iPod I have, aswell as a camera etc. so it's not the USB-dri've)
Anyone know what the problem might be?
    My specs:
    Windows XP SP2
    Intel Dualcore 2.4ghz
    3gb RAM
Edit: I've found it in the device manager, but it seems that it thinks it hasn't got any drivers, even though I installed them :S
I've also gone through this: http://ask.americas.creative.com/SRV...e.com,case=9287 but to no avail.

  • HELP! Brand New Zen Stone Plus WON'T TURN

Just received the product today, downloaded and installed the latest software. Charged the unit for 3 hours and successfully loaded mp3 onto the player. Following every direction and clicked the "safely remove hardware" option. All ready to go... press the on/off button... NOTHING HAPPENED! No screen! LED light did not turn on! NOTHING!
So went to Creative site and follow the "fix it myself" direction, reset the player did not work, formatting the player did not work. There is no firmware download available for Zen Stone Plus (only Zen Stone), so I could not try that option.
I am starting to think there is a defect in my player. Do you guys have any suggestion on what I should do? Does any know how to contact Creative's US customer support (email address and/or phone numbers)? And please don't refer me to the 3 dollars to 30 mins support because I already spent money expecting to buy a non-defecti've product.
I tried looking for the customer support number before posting this message. I did not know Creative have such a poor customer support system! I clicked the "email support" on its site and it directed me to some "fix the player yourself" page (I also tried those solution but did not help), and does not lead to any customer support number! HORRIBLE!Message Edited by misellu on 07-3-20070:6 PM
    ****** UPDATE*********
    Thanks for everyone's suggestions.
Since I didn't want to spend more time to fuzz over a defecti've product, I returned my Zen Stone Plus to Amazon (I did this because I know sending it to Creative would take much longer time before I receive a replacement). Amazon sent me a new one in about 3 days at no charge (and free return shipping). The new one works fine now and does everything its suppose to do (so far...).
Just like I wrote it when I posted the problem, I tried different time intervals and it still wouldn't turn on. I couldn't have lock the unit because it requires power on to turn on the lock (which I was unable to turn on the unit).
The lesson I learn here is think about the product's customer support and where I am buying from before purchasing anything online. I would definitely think twice before buying Creative's products again.

mine wont turn on after almost two weeks since i bought my player. i went to the store where i bought my player, asked them to replace my player right there and then (because i firmly believed that it was a factory defect) but to no avail. so i let the creative support checked my player and voila! my player was infected with WORM VIRUS!!! they fixed my player, deleted the virus and was all set after 2weeks. i scanned my computer, found A LOT OF WORM VIRUS, deleted them before connecting my player to this computer. after transferring files to my player & disconnecting it from this pc, it wont turn on again!! and i havent used it for at least 0mins since i got it back! darn!! i'm gonna return it again to the storea and ask for creative support's help again. does anybody know if there is an anti-virus available for zen products?

  • New zen v plus won't play!!! he

HI, just spent the day downloading music from napster and my hard dri've to my new creative zen v plus mp3 player. (used to have the muvo and I loved it) and after 3 hours of hard work I unplugged the mp3 from my computer and the green down toggle doesn't seem to take me down on ANY of the menus. Not only that, but it says it is playing, but I can't hear anything and there is no evidence of any files on there. (not that I can check due to not being able to go down to select artists, albums, etc. (in music library menu)? When I look on the explorer on my computer when it (the zen) is plugged in via USB, it shows all my music on the player!!! what is going on? very frustrated as was a birthday present. (by the way, I followed all procedure including the full charge before doing anything with the mp3)

I've been away from this thread for a while because my new 8GB Zen V Plus simply stopped working. Nothing brought it back to life including reset with a paper clip. One moment it was working...the next it was dead. Fortunately I was within the 30 days of Comp-U-Plus' return policy and they exchanged it. I received the replacement today and guess what.... It has the same problem: It won't update the firmware. It just says the player isn't plugged in even though the repair program finds it just fine. This happens on two different computers. I contacted Creative support as suggested above and they gave me the same links to the same KB articles this forum gives. At this point I'm sure it's not the player and it's the firmware update software. It's time for Creative's engineers to contact people in this forum and figure out what the problem is to correct it. This isn't an isolated problem. Dale

  • Brand new Zen V plus headac

on my replacement unit from the store, I now seem to have a dead Zen V Plus.
    I've tried resetting, a no-go.
the pc is OK, it got my first unit working,of the 3 units I bought.
I feel the Zen V plus is a product that has ruined my Christmas gift giving this season. I will have to dump the unopened unit to at least recoup a small portion of my investment, as the retail store is not going to help me any further, I was lucky to get them to replace my first defecti've unit after the 7 days expired...
Is there any support for a group.complaint here ?

I am assuming you are in the U.K. Retail law states that if a product is faulty you may return it to the retailer for repair, replacement, or?refund at the retailer's discretion. The law states that?the retailer is?allowed?a reasonable?chance to repair the unit and if the fault still exists you are entitled to a full refund (less postage if any). There is no time limit on this! Any time limit imposed by the retailer is ILLEGAL. They are required by law to sell you a product fit for the purpose for which it was sold - if this is not the case then they are in breach of this law. The warranty covers defects in manufacture for the period of the warranty. The retailer may legally require you to deal direct with Creative with regard to repairs under the warranty, but the retailer is the one you need to hassle for a refund for the defecti've product. The law also states that if the unit is faulty from new, you are entitled to have the unit replaced. This has to be done 'within a reasonable time-frame'; this usally means within a couple of weeks. If you have already had a replacement unit and that is faulty also, then you are perfectly entitled to demand a full refund from the retailer - WITHOUT QUESTION. They may decide to replace the unit again; this decision is not theirs, it's your's. You decide if you want to have the unit replaced at this stage or have your money back. If you have bought the item mail-order then you can return it for a full refund within 7 days even if you just don't like?the colour - faulty items are excluded from the time limit. Check out the full statement of law online for full details; it does take a bit of wading through though. Hope this hel

    I NEED HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Try reloading the firmware for your Nano Plus - that sorts out most problems with these players. Go to Support, Downloads and choose MP3 Players, Zen, Nano Plus. Make sure you follow the instructions carefully.

  • Brand New Zen V Plus is Fro

My player is less than a week old. The Now Playing screen is constantly displayed. None of the buttons work, even the on-off button. An audio book is at 0:32:07 with -0:22:48 left. This happened as I was fast forwarding to find the place I had left off. For some reason, yesterday as I tried to resume playing the book, it refused to start. After turning the player off and on, it did start to play again at the beginning of the book. In fast forwarding to find my place, just now, it suddenly froze.

Here is a follow up on my post. I just allowed the Zen V Plus to run out of power, so the display finally turned off. Then I connected it to my computer and the Zen began to recharge. After it was recharged, it seemed to be working. The only thing wrong was that it seems to have lost my book license so I had to resynch it. That worked and I again tried to fast forward and find the spot in the book where I had left off. That also worked and I hope my problems are over.
Was my problem an indication that there may be further ones down the road?

  • 'Creative Mediasource Organizer' Folders and the ZEN V pla

Using the Creative Mediasource Organizer, I've set up a few Folders on the 'Creative Zen V' player but when I undock the player and use it to find and play the songs, they're not organized by the Folders. In fact, I don't the folder 'structure' at all. Is there a way I can see and use my folder structure I've set up for the player? and, if not, then why does the Organizer enable me to set up folders? Thanks.

Folders on the device are merely for your own convenience and organization. The device relies solely on ID TAGS on how it plays and displays the various tracks. You will need to get your tracks in order and edit the tags.

  • NEW Zen Stone Plus does not work

It looked like it started to charge, but then it just died and Windows does not detect the dri've. I have tried hooking it up to another computer but no go!
I've tried all the troubleshooting on the page and nothing seems to work, it's just completely dead even though it's brand new. I wasn't even able to upload songs to it.
any tips? or should I just send the player back? The problem is that I am in Iceland and bought it in Toronto, Canada so I would like to try everything before sending it.
    thanks in advance!

I used these instructions and got all the way to reloading the firmwear. Then it said to restart the comp and I did and after that nothing! What am I doing wrong?
    Hi everyone
There is a Recovery Mode for the flash-memory players although it is different from the Rescue Mode for the HDD players - that is used for carrying out maintenance operations on the player but Recovery Mode for the flash-memory players is just a different way of connecting your player to your PC when it won't normally connect, for example, when the firmware has become corrupted and the player won't start and isn't recognised by the PC. It is in fact a way of communicationg directly with the STMP3500 chipset that these players use without needing any additional firmware.
Creative themselves called it Recovery Mode - it was first seen when Creative posted the instructions for a previous firmware upgrade that could not be run when connected normally. For the N200 it was in the instructions to upgrade to version .5.0.
Here's a line from the instructions for the latest N200 firmware upgrade, v.20.04:
When prompted to set your player in Recovery mode, disconnect your player from your computer.
    Here are the instructions:
. Download and install the Mass Storage Drivers from the website.
    2. Press and hold the Play button while connecting your player to the PC. If you have a one-piece player then remove the battery first.
    3. Keep pressing Play until the New Hardware Wizard starts - this will only happen the first time you put your player into Recovery Mode.
    4. Complete the New Hardware Wizard.
To check that you are in Recovery Mode open Device Manager (right-click My Computer and choose Properties, then the Hardware tab and Device Manager) and look for a Player Recovery Device entry.
When in Recovery Mode you can reload the firmware.

  • Anyone Know When The New Zen V Plus is Coming O

    The title is self-explanatory. Anyone?

It might take some time until retail stores have the V Plus in stock. Usually when a product is very new and in high demand it is typically iniatilly available only over the internet. It takes a while until the supply is great enough to stock retail stores with inventory.

  • Zen Nano Plus and N200- the sa

Yesterday I ordered a N200... or a Nano Plus, actually i don't know since the title said Zen Nano Plus, but the pictures and text said N200. Of course I asked support which I was going to get when I ordered and in their reply they said they are the same but with different name... so I don't really know what i'll get tomorrow, but then I guess it won't matter if they are the same with different name... But are they really the same?

    Hello,
Just so you don't make a mistake, the 200 and the Zen Nano Plus were different for me. Both I bought were GB but the software was different on the N-200. I was told NOT to load the N-200 on the Zen Nano Plus. I also bought Notmad software and they said that the ZenNanoPlus would be supported soon.
I mistakenly thought I had to upgrade the firmware to get Audible compatibility. I did not. It was Audible ready out of the box. It was .00.02 from the factory. I got 2 different Creative support people telling me 2 different things...including how to upgrade the firmware with N200. One support said DO NOT do it.
Finally I got someone who said it was audible ready as it is. I tried it and it worked perfectly. So...just check. I am not sure who was right. All I know is I blew one up once trying to upgrade and I am real cautious now. At this time, I would not trade the Zen Nano Plus for anything......except perhaps for a copy of the new firmware for the Zen Touch ! Had to get that in.

I've heard good things aobut the Zen Stone Plus and the Zen V plus. Can anybody give me any adivice on deciding between the two? Thanks!

You will see that it received quite a good ratings from some of the experts who tested it. And lastly, the reviews are conveniently located because you can accessed them from one place.

Two extra colours (whoo), and apparently another 2 or 3 hours of battery life (then again, the MuVo did exceed the 5 hours stated in all it's reviews, so no change)
They were rebranded due to the Zen being piece models, and the MuVos being 2 part models.
