Creative Cloud Activation Bug

By means of this ordeal that is Creative Cloud, I've come across a very frustrating bug. A bug that makes Creative Cloud Desktop app think its another PC. basically if I sign into the desktop app and the open Photoshop, PS tells me that it needs to be activated and while doing so, hits me with this beauty
so I go ahead and sign out of Creative Cloud and close Photoshop. Then go ahead and start Photoshop again without signing into the CC desktop app. Lo and behold ! Activation Sucessfull ! Sign back into the desktop app, close Photoshop. Open Photoshop back again. BAM, same screen you just saw up here. I have to mention that my CC is being used in 2 places. At home and at work. At work while i'm writing this the laptop's closed. So the only logical conclusion would be that CC desktop = 1 new pc. Either that or Photoshop is seen as such.
Prior to this, the CC Desktop app acted weird. there were 2 updated to install. 1 ps , 1 illu. PS was closed but desktop app kept telling me its open. Had to restart the PC for it to be able to install PS update properly. Before the update I was running a Eclipse-built PS Extension via Eclipse.
Uninstalling PS now. Will install back and check if the issue persists. (I have a feeling it will)
I would just like to submit this as a bug because CS is not able to apparently (not as if they were able to do anything really, but that's another issue entirely).

I've managed to find out the root of the problem after a lot of careful and repeated usecase testing (I have worked for a development company before as UI designer and continue to do so, and some habits just stuck with me ) ).
The way the licence bug reproduces is as follows:
You got 2 pcs both activated. On either one, you are doing development of App Extensions with this : http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/extensionbuilder3/ and have it installed in Eclipse.
If Photoshop is NOT opened up when you are trying to debug or run your extension in Photoshop, to test it, the plugin/eclipse does that for you. Unfortunately, that's when the licence system kicks in and tells you that you have reached the max amount of activations.
Now you might think this is because of the plugin. You would be wrong. The only thing that the plugin does is invoke a instance of Photoshop. If the licence system would be written properly, it would detect the fact that you're running the same Photoshop as before, so a new activation is not required. I'm curious wether or not an Adobe employee is going to submit it to the bug tracker.
Cheers guys, and as heads up: If you're writing extensions, make sure to have Photoshop running when you're doing the testing, to avoi situations like this.

    I give up,i have been trying to activate a 3 month subscription for CS6 from Staples and every time i try the code it will not work.  I have used the chat live and spent about 3 hours already going nowhere.  I do not like talking on the phone to some help desk overseas and the only thing i think left to do is to return the junk.

    I tried all that and even took a picture of the numbers and blew them up so a blind person could read them and had 3 others read them off.  A simple way to fix the problem is get someone on Adobes staff to find a font that most people can read from whatever product the stick it to.

    Hey John,
    Not sure if it helps or not, but I know sometimes with codes like that its really hard to tell certain characters apart, O - like in Oscar versus 0 - number and number 1 versus lowercase L like in Lima.
    Might test entering it both ways if you have any suspect characters?

  • Creative cloud- activation and trial downloads with a paid subscription

    Hi Community,
    i needed to find somewhere to post this question as i feel im hitting a brick wall with the support docs that are widely available.
    We have introduced Creative Cloud for Education at my work place. i'm trying to put together some installation docs that can be distributed internally, but i cannot get past how the software is activated from a trial copy through to using the subscription that has been paid for, either prior to the trial expiring or upon expiry. As it seems all apps start in a trial mode (not the best idea, it confuses people as to whether they have a legitimate installation i've found)
    That aside, does anyone understand from personal experience how you then progress your trial copy into the 'buy' stage when you have already bought the subscription and it is active?
    it all seems a bit pointless and perhaps i am missing something here but i cannot get past it, and no amount of support docs i read even addresses 'how' this happens. the closest doc i have found talks about how to take CS6 copy from trial to full.
    come on Adobe, help us out with some real instructions person to person. i'm not looking for links to support docs here (as you may have guessed)

    Maybe you've run a trial version of a unknown source.
    Possibility that your host file is modified and some IP numbers are blocked.
    Adobe can't reach the appropriate registration server(s).
    A solution can be:
    - Log-out desktop CC
    - Clean Up your host file (don't know how, Google is our best friend)
    - Restart your computer
    - Log on CC desktop

  • Is an Adobe Creative Cloud active subscription needed for the Adobe Photoshop streaming trial?

    I am here on behalf of the Manhattan College ITS department.
    My supervisor has asked me to look into the free trial for Adobe Photoshop Streaming (APS) and we would like to try it out because it is free.
    However on the website for the APS trial, it says you need an active subscription for Adobe Creative Cloud (ACC) in order to participate.
    On the APS trial page, it states that an ACC account is needed for an individual signing up for the trial but it is not made clear for the institution.
    I'm assuming that it is required, but I would like to hear back from an Adobe rep.

  • How often can I swap a Creative Cloud activation between more than two systems?

    I have three computers - one at work (desktop) and two at home (desktop and laptop). My Adobe CC account is currently installed on two of them (desktop at work, desktop at home) but I would like to swap one of those activations as often as twice a week when I need to take my laptop on the go. i.e. I would activate my laptop and deactivate my home desktop for about 24 hours and then re-deactivate/re-activate..
    How often can I do that activate/deactivate without breaking the EULA?

    In Creative Cloud, you sign in to activate your software.
    Make sure that your computer is connected to the Internet.
    Start the application.
    Choose Help > Sign In. (If this option is dimmed, you've already signed in and don't need to activate your software.)
    Log in with your Adobe ID (usually your email address) to activate your subscription. If you don’t have an Adobe ID, you see an option to create one.
    Note: If Creative Cloud prompts you to enter a serial number after signing in, see Creative Cloud applications ask for serial number.
    Signing out of one Creative Cloud application deactivates all Creative Cloud applications associated with your Adobe ID on that computer.
    Make sure that your computer is connected to the Internet.
    Start the application.
    Choose Help > Sign Out (Your Adobe ID).
    Click Sign Out.
        Alternately, you can sign out from all Creative Cloud applications on your machine using the Creative Cloud app for desktop. 
    Open the Creative Cloud Desktop App.
    Choose the Settings icon.
    Choose Preferences.
    Choose Account.
    Choose Sign Out from Creative Cloud.

    However I would request you to go for Creative Cloud for Team in which you can add the number of seats & install it on computers required.

  • Creative Cloud Photoshop Bug

    I'm not interested in troubleshooting with anyone, but just wanted to know if anyone knows if Adobe has fixed their bugs with Creative Cloud photoshop, mine is not working and is very frustrating to know that other people have the same problems, will this software work ? yes or no? In  case anyone is interested I get a blank screen every time I open a document, so it's useless, and when I resize the Photoshop window it can not do a good job of resetting the included tools.

    "There are however situations when that safety mechanism fails and the features are enabled despite the configuration not supporting it. This can lead to crashes or show strange artifacts like a black document window, strange strip or triangle patterns in the main window or images only displaying partially"
    Funny how I just fixed it by changing a setting within Photoshop to disable/enable the hardware acceleration, took me 2 minutes to google search the problem related with the blank image. However I updated my video driver and the problem never came back, so I guess my computer does not support Photoshop extended features.

  • Sequence presets are missing after "Creative Cloud" activation of CS6

    I recently downloaded a trial version of CS6 (I had CS4). While in the trial period PrPro CS6 had a plethora of options to choose from in the "sequence presets" including several XDCAM HD options which I needed as I shoot my video in that format.
    Everything worked okay with my imported video. I imported several clips into sequences setup as XDCAM HD 1920x1080/23.97P with no problems. All was good for a couple of days until I bought a "Creative Cloud" account. After activation, many choices in the sequence setup window are mysteriously missing. I download all of the updates in an attempt to fix; that didn't help.
    Now I can't import any of my XDCAM HD videos or open any of the several projects I created while running the trial of CS6.
    The picture below shows the sequence presets that I have available now.  Help.

  • Is there still a limit on Creative Cloud activations?

    I have two Macs and one Windows machine.  Can I activate Creative Cloud on all three?  I can't find the current limit, so forgive me if this has already been asked!

    @i have the 9.99 creative cloud plan, i need to reinstall it on my desktop as my laptop does not have enough graphics, but where do i find my serial number to activate it

    Hi, I would recommend you to use the steps in: Creative Cloud applications ask for serial number its most likely that there is some thing blocking your activation. Your AdobeID should be sufficient to activate your software. 

  • Can't log in using Creative Cloud Desktop (Bug)

    Whenever I enter my username and password, the desktop application says "you have been signed out" and takes me back to the login screen. It goes in a loop like this forever. I'm positive my username and pass are correct.
    I'd like to log in to get auto-updates on applications and easy access to all the Cloud applications. Thanks for any help, tried everything, including uninstalling and re-installing.

    Please uninstall the the desktop application, and follow the below steps:
    Delete the opm.db file.
    Navigate to the OOBE folder.
    Windows: [System drive]:\Users\[user name]\AppData\Local\Adobe\OOBE
    Mac OS: /Users/[user name]/Library/Application Support/Adobe/OOBE folder
    Delete the opm.db file.
    Download the creative cloud desktop application again from  https://creative.adobe.com/products and login.

  • Creative cloud trial bug?

    My creative cloud account is saying start the trial version of PS all of a sudden even though all the other apps are working fine.  I have paid so what's the deal?  Are others experiencing this problem? 

    It happened to me. Apparently it can occur when Adobe's bot comes by to tell your computer you're paid up. If your computer is down at that moment, your CC membership gets put in a 30-day trial mode, so you can keep working until the bot comes around next month. The trial app(s) work the same as normal, so there are really no worries.
    This problem may resolve itself when you update a CC app. (Check using Adobe Applications Manager). In my case, after doing an update, the SECOND time I ran the app, my CC membership was restored, and I was no longer in trial mode.
    It was upsetting and confusing all the same! - Good luck.

  • Creative Cloud App - Bug Fix Updates

    I installed a number of CC Apps, including Photoshop CC, Indesign CC, Dreamweaver, Illustrator CC, Premiere Pro CC. the following day each of the CC Apps had a "Bug Fix" Update. Althoughthe updates will download and the installation process will run it DOES NOT complete ie the Update Failed Errors encountered during installation U44M1P7
    I have looked at the log but I can't make head or tail of what it says - so I have no idea what is causing the update error.
    So has anybody any suggestions?

  • CC apps only have try button in Creative Cloud desktop app

    I received a free 1 year membership because i attended the Adobe Max Conference. I activated the membership in May 2013 and when I go to my profile at adobe.com it says the creative cloud membership is active until May 2014.
    I updated my Creative Cloud desktop app yesterday to download the CC apps and did not have any problems or get any errors. All my CS6 programs are listed in the app along with the CC programs but the CC programs have a try button, not install button. Do I need to re-enter my creative cloud activation code again somewhere else so the programs I download are not trial versions.
    I'm using OS10.8.4

  • Can't sign in to Adobe Creative Cloud

    Two days ago I received notification via the Creative Cloud that some apps were ready to update.
    On opening the updater I was asked to login, despite having entered my credentials previously which should have been saved. On entering my credentials again I immediately got logged out with message "You've been signed out".
    Thinking that Adobe might have force reset user passwords post Heartbleed patching (http://heartbleed.com/) but not sent users a notification email, I then followed the link to the Account/Password FAQ (http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/account-password-sign-faq.html). I then requested a password reset, followed the link from the automated email and created a new password.
    The new password works on the Forums but I am still not able to log into Adobe Creative Cloud. I still get logged out immediately with the message "You've been signed out".
    Adobe's management of user accounts/passwords is historially woeful so it's understandable that users are seriously concerned about this latest issue.
    Can you please advise:
    * Has Adobe been affected by the Heartbleed bug?
    * If yes, have you patched your OpenSSL, acquired new certificates, generated and deployed new SSL keys, and revoked old keys and certs?
    * When do you expect the Creative Cloud login bug to be resolved?
