SOLVED
This solution was offered by Adobe chat support, after a very long and fruitless exchange. Apparently, the support tech finally asked around, and someone else in the room gave him the correct answer.
Adobe: I understand you are unable to launch Photoshop CC 2014 as getting error Adobe Photoshop CC 2014 has stopped working on your Windows 7 computer, is that right?
Me: Correct
Adobe: Thank you for confirming the issue.
Adobe: I will be glad to help you with this.
Me: PS goes through initialization, then quits
Adobe: Please click on start Button and type Event Viewer and open Event Viewer Window.
Adobe: Once you have it open, let me know .,
Me: Done
Adobe: Now please expand Windows Logs option and select Applications.
Me: Done
Adobe: You will get Notification on right as Error , Warning, Information
Adobe: Please check if you have any Error Notifications.
Me: Yes
Adobe: If yes, please double click on Error Notification and check if it is for Photoshop
Adobe: If yes, please copy the information and paste on this chat.
Me: Faulting application name: Photoshop.exe, version: 15.1.0.148, time stamp: 0x53d97a8f Faulting module name: atiocl64.dll, version: 2.3.451.0, time stamp: 0x4cfd9adc

Adobe: Thank you for the information.
Me: It's an AMD HD 6700 display
Adobe: It seems there is an issue with your Graphic Card Drivers.
Me: Well, yes
Me: But only with PS CC, so the problem is with PS
Me: I've updated the drivers
Me: This seems to be a common problem
Adobe: Please click on Start Button and type Device Manager and open Device Manager
Adobe: Once you have Device manager open, let me know
Me: Done
Adobe: Now please expand Display Adaptor option and right click on  AMD HD 6700 and Select Properties
Me: OK
Adobe: Then click on Drivers Tab
Adobe: Click on Disable
Adobe: Click on Okay
Adobe: Once you click on Okay, it will change your Screen resolution
Me: You bet it did!
Adobe: Now please launch Photoshop CC 2014 and let me know if you are able to launch Photoshop CC 2014 or getting same error.
Me: Error not happening
Adobe: Are you able to launch Photoshop CC 2014?
Me: Yes
Adobe: It means, issue is with Graphic Card drivers.
Me: Yes, I knew that
Adobe: I suggest you to contact Graphic Card drivers and check if you can re-install the drivers and use Photoshop CC 2014 with the Graphic Card
Me: SO... PS CC 2014 is incompatible with the AMD drivers?
Me: I've installed 4 versions already. I'm running the latest beta now
Adobe: Could you please provide me with Full name of the Graphic Card?
Me: AFAIK, PS CC2014 is the only program that causes this error
Me: AMD Radeon HD 6700
Adobe: Dan, issue is due to the Drivers, which are not compatible with Photoshop CC 2014.
Adobe: You may be able to use other products, however if drivers is not compatible with Photoshop CC 2014, you will not be able to use them with Photoshop CC 2014
Me: I think that you have that backwards. PS CC2014 is not compatible with the drivers. It is the only known program to have this problem. Well documented.
Adobe: Please contact Graphic Card provider and check for the drivers or re-install drivers and check.
Me: I did, and they blame Adobe
Adobe: Okay
Adobe: Photoshop CC 2014 is not compatible with the drivers you have for the Graphic Card, there might be issue with drivers.
Adobe: We have checked with the error logs as well., it show  Fault Module Name: atiocl64.dll
Me: Again, PS CC 2014 is the only known program to clash with atiocl64.dll
Adobe: I can suggest you to check if you can use the product from new Account and use the product or check with Graphic Card provider for the drivers or a proper installation for Graphic Drivers.
Me: Again, I've done all of that
Me: They blame Adobe, and frankly, they are correct. The problem only happens with your product
Adobe: Please use different Graphic Card on your computer and check if you can use it with Photoshop CC 2014.
Adobe: You can follow below link to know more about supported Graphic Cards.
Adobe: http://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/photoshop-cs6-gpu-faq1.html
Me: Can we elevate this to the next level, please?
Adobe: We have disabled Graphic Card drivers to check if you can launch the product and you were able to launch the product without using the Graphic Drivers.
Me: Yes.
Me: So PS CC 2014 will not work with this card?
Adobe: Issue is with Graphic Card drivers, we can use Product with graphic Card
Me: So PS CC 2014 will not work with this card?
Adobe: Photoshop CC 2014 is compatible with AMD/ATI Radeon, 6000 series.
Adobe: However you have issue with Graphic card drivers.
Me: No, Adobe has an issue. And I have an issue with Adobe.
info: Your chat transcript will be sent to [email protected] at the end of your chat.
Me: And I'm not the first person to report it, either
<long pause>
Adobe: Please navigate to C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CC 2014
Adobe: Locate sniffer folder and rename it ~sniffer.
Adobe: *Locate sniffer file and rename it ~sniffer.
Adobe: Before that, please re-enable your Graphic Drivers as well.
Adobe: Once you done that, let me know.
Me: No such folder. sniffer.exe is present, however
Adobe: *Locate sniffer file and rename it ~sniffer.
Adobe: Please rename  sniffer.exe to  ~sniffer.exe
Me: Done
Adobe: Just to confirm, if you have re-enabled your Graphic Drivers?
Me: Yes
Adobe: Now please re-launch Photoshop CC 2014 and check if you can launch it or same error.
Me: No error. Program loads and runs.
Adobe: Please close and re-run the product and check,
Adobe: * I mean, close and re-launch
Me: No error. Program loads and runs.
Adobe: Okay
Adobe: Sniffer file is related to Graphic Processor from Photoshop CC 2014.
Adobe: You can keep it renamed and use the product.
Me: What does sniffer.exe do and can I run PS CC 2014 without it?
Adobe: You will be able to use the product without any issue.
Me: I'm sorry that I had to push you for a solution
Adobe: However I will suggest you to re-check with Graphic Provider and see if they have any drivers which you can use with Photoshop CC 2014, since issue is related to the Graphic Processor.
Me: As of yesterday, they did not
Adobe: I am sorry for the Inconvenience.
Adobe: Is there anything else I can help you with?
Me: No, thank you. Hopefully, the problem is resolved.
Adobe: You will be able to use  the product, if any issue contact us back, we will check and help you accordingly
Adobe: You are most welcome.
Adobe: You may receive an email that will contain a link to complete an optional survey to provide your feedback on the support experience. Your feedback is very much appreciated.

I am getting an error message that syncing failed to start.  Any ideas why.  The ipad is working fine.

Then I tried to download and install them again but it kept saying the old itunes could not be removed.
    (1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
    (2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
    (3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
    (4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
    (5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

And what is wrong with Trend Micro Titanium as a package?
    1. This comment applies to malicious software ("malware") that's installed unwittingly by the victim of a network attack, and what you should and should not do to protect yourself from that threat. It does not apply to software, such as keystroke loggers, that may be installed deliberately by an intruder who has hands-on access to the victim's computer. That threat is in a different category, and there's no easy way to defend against it. If you have reason to suspect that you're the target of such an attack, you need expert help.
If you find this comment too long or too technical, read only sections 5, 6, and 10.
OS X now implements three layers of built-in protection specifically against malware, not counting runtime protections such as execute disable, sandboxing, system library randomization, and address space layout randomization that may also guard against other kinds of exploits.
    2. All versions of OS X since 10.6.7 have been able to detect known Mac malware in downloaded files, and to block insecure web plugins. This feature is transparent to the user, but internally Apple calls it "XProtect." The malware recognition database is automatically checked for updates once a day; however, you shouldn't rely on it, because the attackers are always at least a day ahead of the defenders.
The following caveats apply to XProtect:
It can be bypassed by some third-party networking software, such as BitTorrent clients and Java applets.
It only applies to software downloaded from the network. Software installed from a CD or other media is not checked.
As new versions of OS X are released, it's not clear whether Apple will indefinitely continue to maintain the XProtect database of older versions such as 10.6. The security of obsolete system versions may eventually be degraded. Security updates to the code of obsolete systems will stop being released at some point, and that may leave them open to other kinds of attack besides malware.
       3. Starting with OS X 10.7.5, there has been a second layer of built-in malware protection, designated "Gatekeeper" by Apple. By default, applications and Installer packages downloaded from the network will only run if they're digitally signed by a developer with a certificate issued by Apple. Software certified in this way hasn't necessarily been tested by Apple, but you can be reasonably sure that it hasn't been modified by anyone other than the developer. His identity is known to Apple, so he could be held legally responsible if he distributed malware. That may not mean much if the developer lives in a country with a weak legal system (see below.)
Gatekeeper doesn't depend on a database of known malware. It has, however, the same limitations as XProtect, and in addition the following:
It can easily be disabled or overridden by the user.
A malware attacker could get control of a code-signing certificate under false pretenses, or could simply ignore the consequences of distributing codesigned malware.
An App Store developer could find a way to bypass Apple's oversight, or the oversight could fail due to human error.
For the reasons given above, App Store products, and other applications recognized by Gatekeeper as signed, are safer than others, but they can't be considered absolutely safe. "Sandboxed" applications may prompt for access to private data, such as your contacts, or for access to the network. Think before granting that access. OS X security is based on user input. Never click through any request for authorization without thinking.
    4. Starting with OS X 10.8.3, a third layer of protection has been added: a "Malware Removal Tool" (MRT). MRT runs automatically in the background when you update the OS. It checks for, and removes, malware that may have evaded the other protections via a Java exploit (see below.) MRT also runs when you install or update the Apple-supplied Java runtime (but not the Oracle runtime.) Like XProtect, MRT is effective against known threats, but not against unknown ones. It notifies you if it finds malware, but otherwise there's no user interface to MRT.
    5. The built-in security features of OS X reduce the risk of malware attack, but they're not absolute protection. The first and best line of defense is always going to be your own intelligence. With the possible exception of Java exploits, all known malware circulating on the Internet that affects a fully-updated installation of OS X 10.6 or later takes the form of so-called "trojan horses," which can only have an effect if the victim is duped into running them. The threat therefore amounts to a battle of wits between you and the malware attacker. If you're smarter than he thinks you are, you'll win.
That means, in practice, that you never use software that comes from an untrustworthy source, or that does something inherently untrustworthy. How do you know what is trustworthy?
Any website that prompts you to install a “codec,” “plug-in,” "player," "extractor," or “certificate” that comes from that same site, or an unknown one, is untrustworthy.
A web operator who tells you that you have a “virus,” or that anything else is wrong with your computer, or that you have won a prize in a contest you never entered, is trying to commit a crime with you as the victim. (Some reputable websites did legitimately warn visitors who were infected with the "DNSChanger" malware. That exception to this rule no longer applies.)
Pirated copies or "cracks" of commercial software, no matter where they come from, are unsafe.
Software of any kind downloaded from a BitTorrent or from a Usenet binary newsgroup is unsafe.
Software that purports to help you do something that's illegal or that infringes copyright, such as saving streamed audio or video for reuse without permission, is unsafe. All YouTube "downloaders" are in this category, though not all are necessarily harmful.
Software with a corporate brand, such as Adobe Flash Player, must be downloaded directly from the developer’s website. If it comes from any other source, it's unsafe.
Even signed applications, no matter what the source, should not be trusted if they do something unexpected, such as asking for permission to access your contacts, your location, or the Internet for no obvious reason.
    6. Java on the Web (not to be confused with JavaScript, to which it's not related, despite the similarity of the names) is a weak point in the security of any system. Java is, among other things, a platform for running complex applications in a web page, on the client. That was always a bad idea, and Java's developers have proven themselves incapable of implementing it without also creating a portal for malware to enter. Past Java exploits are the closest thing there has ever been to a Windows-style virus affecting OS X. Merely loading a page with malicious Java content could be harmful.
Fortunately, client-side Java on the Web is obsolete and mostly extinct. Only a few outmoded sites still use it. Try to hasten the process of extinction by avoiding those sites, if you have a choice. Forget about playing games or other non-essential uses of Java.
Java is not included in OS X 10.7 and later. Discrete Java installers are distributed by Apple and by Oracle (the developer of Java.) Don't use either one unless you need it. Most people don't. If Java is installed, disable it — not JavaScript — in your browsers.
Regardless of version, experience has shown that Java on the Web can't be trusted. If you must use a Java applet for a task on a specific site, enable Java only for that site in Safari. Never enable Java for a public website that carries third-party advertising. Use it only on well-known, login-protected, secure websites without ads. In Safari 6 or later, you'll see a lock icon in the address bar with the abbreviation "https" when visiting a secure site.
Follow the above guidelines, and you’ll be as safe from malware as you can practically be. The rest of this comment concerns what you should not do to protect yourself from malware.
    7. Never install any commercial "anti-virus" or "Internet security" products for the Mac, as they all do more harm than good, if they do any good at all. Any database of known threats is always going to be out of date. Most of the danger is from unknown threats. If you need to be able to detect Windows malware in your files, use one of the free anti-virus products in the Mac App Store — nothing else.
Why shouldn't you use commercial "anti-virus" products?
Their design is predicated on the nonexistent threat that malware may be injected at any time, anywhere in the file system. Malware is downloaded from the network; it doesn't materialize from nowhere.
In order to meet that nonexistent threat, the software modifies or duplicates low-level functions of the operating system, which is a waste of resources and a common cause of instability, bugs, and poor performance.
To recognize malware, the software depends on a database of known threats, which is always at least a day out of date. Most of the real-world danger of malware attack comes from highly targeted "zero-day" exploits that are not yet recognized.
By modifying the operating system, the software itself may create weaknesses that could be exploited by malware attackers.
    8. An anti-malware product from the App Store, such as "ClamXav," doesn't have these drawbacks. That doesn't mean it's entirely safe. It may report email messages that have "phishing" links in the body, or Windows malware in attachments, as infected files, and offer to delete or move them. Doing so will corrupt the Mail database. The messages should be deleted from within the Mail application.
An anti-virus app is not needed, and should not be relied upon, for protection against OS X malware. It's useful only for detecting Windows malware. Windows malware can't harm you directly (unless, of course, you use Windows.) Just don't pass it on to anyone else.
A Windows malware attachment in email is usually easy to recognize. The file name will often be targeted at people who aren't very bright; for example:
    ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥!!!!!!!H0TBABEZ4U!!!!!!!.AVI♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.exe
Anti-virus software may be able to tell you which particular virus or trojan it is, but do you care? In practice, there's seldom a reason to use the software unless a network administrator requires you to do it.
The ClamXav developer won't try to "upsell" you to a paid version of the product. Other developers may do that. Don't be upsold. For one thing, you should not pay to protect Windows users from the consequences of their choice of computing platform. For another, a paid upgrade from a free app will probably have the disadvantages mentioned in section 7.
    9. It seems to be a common belief that the built-in Application Firewall acts as a barrier to infection, or prevents malware from functioning. It does neither. It blocks inbound connections to certain network services you're running, such as file sharing. It's disabled by default and you should leave it that way if you're behind a router on a private home or office network. Activate it only when you're on an untrusted network, for instance a public Wi-Fi hotspot, where you don't want to provide services. Disable any services you don't use in the Sharing preference pane. All are disabled by default.
    10. As a Mac user you don't have to live in fear that your computer is going to be infected every time you install an application, read email, or visit a web page. But neither should you have the false idea that you will always be safe, no matter what you do. The greatest harm done by security software is precisely its selling point: it makes people feel safe. They may then feel safe enough to take risks from which the software doesn't protect them. Nothing can lessen the need for safe computing practices.

  • Creative Cloud DW6 keeps crashing...

    Hi there,
I have the creative cloud subscription and this morning Dreamweaver decided to stop working. I've never had a problem with DW in the past seven years!
    Here's what I know:
I don't have any trouble starting DW
Once I open a file DW stops 'responding' and i have to force quit
At one point i was able to open an XML file but definitely not any HTML files
Later even the XML file  crashed
I ran a Disk utility "just because" and restarted  twice
I have trashed my preferences and restarted DW and the problem persisted
I have done a "Clean Uninstall" of DW and reinstalled and the problem persists
Dreamweaver CS 5.5 is not working on my computer either ...
    I am running OS 10.7.5
    Would really appreciate any help!
UPDATE: i can create new clean files but not open existing files.

    Thanks Romsinha,
I was able to enable the root account ---
Strangely, i was able to view most of my client sites, but some would not load and kept crashing when i opened pages in the site. I even tried removing the site from DW, copying the folder for the delinquent sites, renaming the folder and then setting up a new site with the new folder name and that did not work either.
I decided to disable the the root account and see if the sites I *could* open with the root account would open under my regular "user" account, and they opened. Randomly, the trouble files I could not open have started to open and work now...
So i guess I no longer have a problem, but the whole thing is bizarre!
Thanks for the tip on the root account --

  • Creative cloud app keeps crashing - help - cannot dowload anything...

Please help me with Creative Cloud App - on WIN& PC - it keeps stopping.

Well, after much more web trawling, I got it to work.
After uninstalling the Creative Cloud app, I downloaded and installed the latest Adobe Account Management (AAM) app from here.
    http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/thankyou.jsp?ftpID=4773&fileID=4437
Ran it as Administrator, it updated my existing version, then I reinstalled the Creative Cloud App, and installed an application, it took about 10-15 minutes, but up and running now.
    Thanks everyone.

  • Photoshop keeps crashing upon opening. Any suggestions?

Just downloaded photoshop CC and every time I open the program photoshop crashes immediately.
Any suggestions how to remedy this?
We have tried uninstalling and reinstalling so any new suggestions are appreciated.
    Thanks

The first thing you should do is look at your systems crash reports for the Photoshop crashes to see where Photoshop is crashing they should help you get to the bottom of your problem.

  • My Macbook pro keeps crashing and I have no idea why. Would anyone be able to help?

I have a Macbook pro OS X 10.7.5 It is only a little over a year old and it keeps crashing. Any help would be great!

When attempting to install ios5 on my iPod touch , iTunes starts to backup but doesn't get anywhere and the progress bar just keeps going from left to right, any ideas please as to what I can do? Thanks

Try resetting the iPod while it is connected to your computer.
Hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home button down at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    Then try again.
If that didn't help, try restarting the AMDS > iPod touch: How to restart the Apple Mobile Device Service (AMDS) on Windows

  • Macbook air OS X mavericks, creative cloud member - I cannot download indesign?  Any ideas please?

I am trying to download application manager and creative cloud so as to be able to download indesign but neither will install.  It was all working perfectly before - may be a Mavericks issue?  Apologies if this is already covered somewhere I have not seen it.  Thank you for any help.

Rocsandford are you receiving any specific error messages?  You can find the steps listed on how to install the Adobe Creative applications included with your membership at Install and update apps - https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/help/install-apps.html.

  • I have a late 2009 macbook  with osx 10.9.2 i recently added more memory to stop the colored pinwheel from poping up all the time but it has started again any ideas why this might be ty

my 2009 mac book  has the pinwheel popping up alot any ideas?

You'd have to look into Activity Monitor utility, to see if any applications or processes are running or hogging system resources; not just RAM (as it may seem OK even if it isn't; esp in Mavericks) but in the areas of hard drive capacities. Could be you have some other issues not just a too-full hard disk drive, or not enough RAM installed.

Another utility that could show you plenty of busywork things going on, is Console. The system logs in there can show a detailed list of tons of activity. Perhaps some of the often-repeated results may be worth considering; and go by the time (day, hour, minute) you notice the spinning wheel; look into the logs from then.
Have you tried starting up in SafeBoot (shift key held on startup, then login screen appears, hold down shift key again when you login) and then run Disk Utility's repair disk permissions? When done, you could try & restart the computer normally.
If you happen to get incorrect specification RAM (close but not correct) that could also play into a spinning wheel deal; however the problem may be something else that RAM did not cure. Yet bad or incorrect RAM only adds to a pre-existing issue, since it could not solve it. Same with a System Upgrade. To upgrade to Mavericks with problems already does not mean they would go away; often that makes the first condition harder to resolve.
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • Pls Help: Photoshop Creative Cloud 2015 keeps crashing after I open a project :(

I spent so much time working on some projects... went to sleep... got back on this morning and about 2 seconds after I open a Photoshop project I had been working on, Photoshop crashes "has stopped working and needs to close".
I tried system restore, did not work.
I tried disabling my anti-virus, did not work.
    I am using Windows 7
    1. I am on the 11th day of my Photoshop trial period of a purchased subscription. Can I uninstall this, and reinstall it?
    2. My computer drivers should be fine and updated and all that jazz.
    3. Here's what the event log said:

    2. My computer drivers should be fine and updated and all that jazz.
No, they are not. It crashes due to your graphics driver. Update it and configure it suitably.
