Creative Cloud vs. Creative Suite

I am a little confused on how Creative Cloud works vs. Creative Suite. After reviewing the Creative Cloud homepage it indicated there would be no more upgrades to Adobe's creative suite? So basically if I just purchased CS6 I can never upgrade to CS7? Is this true for the master collection as well?
What is the difference between CC Photoshop and Photoshop CS6 extended? There seems to be a lot of tutorials regarding some new features CS6 memebers didn't get?

Its ultimately a customer's choice to stay on what they want.
We would want you to be on the CC and enjoy all features, There will be not CS7 now, its now CC only, with a lot of new features, Integeration with other cloud features, acces to behance and its integration. Cloud storage, plus new features with Adobe PS CC, like camera blur reduction, All updates. Improved Camera Raw, in Illustrator - New smart brushes tool and a lot more.
Thanks

    Terry,
I guess I miss something. How can I share a folder of photos? When I return from a shoot, I select 20 of the pictures and need to share them with my client to pick up the favorites. Am I supposed to copy and past an URL for each image separately?
Sometimes I also work with a colleague, I need to share my favorites with him. Same issue.
We have tried Adobe Cloud, and then went for Dropbox. There we can share a folder and he can put even his pictures in it as well. That's what I call collaboration. And it is free (unlike Adobe Cloud). If you have some word in Adobe, please tell them to either drop it and make a deal with services like Dropbox, or make it properly.
    Thanks.

  • Adobe Creative Cloud and Adobe Creative Suite: New Choices for Customers

Adobe has announced the new Cloud-based model for software distribution, along with new terms for boxed product upgrade eligibility. Beginning with the CS6 releases, when they happen, upgrade pricing on boxed products will only be availble one generation back. There is a limited window to upgrade now to the current versions at a discount.
    See http://blogs.adobe.com/conversations/2011/11/adobe-creative-cloud-and-adobe-creative-suite -new-choices-for-customers.html

    Eugene:
Based on the current information we have (from the blog post), which may not be correct and which you should not rely upon:
There is some confusion about the word "discount." As used in the blog post, in general there are no "discounts" for upgrades, there is the upgrade price and there is full price. But, also in the blog post, there is a special "discount upgrade" if you choose to upgrade to CS5.5 today (prior to Dec. 31, 2011), which is 20% off the regular upgrade. However, Peter used the word "discount" to distinguish between upgrade pricing and full price. It's probably a good idea to avoid using that word there because of the potential for confusion.
I have CS5 InDesign in work. So I will be able to upgrade that to CS6 when it comes out at the discount price?
You will be able to upgrade to CS6 at upgrade pricing. Not the 20% discount, but it is "discounted" from the full price of CS6.
I'm still using CS2 Illustrator and Photoshop, for the little work I do in those programs, they're fine. But if I want to upgrade them to CS6 I have to pay the full amount of an upgrade, with no discount... or will I have to pay for CS6 in full for both of these programs?
You will have to pay the full price (not the "full amount of an upgrade," whatever that means).
If you elect to upgrade to CS5.5 prior to Dec. 31 of this year, however, then then you can pay the discounted upgrade price to upgrade to CS5.5 (well, CS5 since Photoshop CS5.5 doesn't exist), and then you can pay the CS6 upgrade price in March/April. So you can pay for no upgrades (full price) or two upgrades (one of which is 20% off).
At the moment I can upgrade CS2, photoshop and Illustrator for €240 each, to CS5. So wouldn't I just be able to do that now and then buy the CS6 upgrade at a much later date perhaps just before CS7 comes out?
    Yes, you can do that.
If CS6 has the tools to basically go "File>Export>Epub" and I get a fully working epub file without having to trash about in code afterwards or make complex tagging in InDesign, then I'll be buying it.
It looks like EPUB is evolving pretty fast, so even if ID CS6 fully supports what you want out of EPUB on Day 1, I bet you'll need to be prepared to postprocess it on Day 2. Or at least long before Day 200.

  • Adobe Creative Cloud oder Adobe Creative Suite 6 Production Premium Student and Teacher Edition

    Hallo.
Ich bin im Moment ein Student. Mein Studium geht noch 10 Monate lang.
Jetzt weis ich nicht so recht was sich für mich daheim mehr lohnt.
    Die
Adobe Creative Suite 6 Production Premium Student and Teacher Edition für 575€

  • The future of non-cloud versions of Creative Suites?

I understand the 'pro' arguments of the cloud. Sometimes a radical departure from the norm causes unexpected consequences.
I work for a fortune 100 company and we have lawyers crawl over every contract or agreement no matter how small. They actually read every licensing agreement on all our software. They will absolutely NOT allow cloud based software or storage of any kind. It doesn't matter how sound your arguments are, the answer will be no.
I have been using Photoshop since the very first version. I purchase almost every upgrade (sometimes I will skip a version if the new product does not provide me with anything I need). Fourteen years ago I was the one who campaigned & got the full line of Adobe products part of our approved “load set”. This new move to cloud-based only is like getting stabbed in the back by your brother. If I can’t purchase a hard-drive resident version of the creative suite that cannot be disabled by Adobe at the end of the year, the lawyers will end the approval of all the Adobe products. There won’t be any discussions about it. Where do I go? Paint Shop Pro?
    Paul

I am looking into alternative software to replace all of my Adobe products. What a foolish move from Adobe. There are many of us that can't use their software because of the secure environments we operate in. I for one refuse to be placed in their strangle hold. When I have the cash for an upgrade I buy it/own it, and if I decide it is time for me to upgrade I do it. After being with Adobe from day one, it is now time to move on. The cost of the upgrades has gotten out of hand. The upgrades have been too complicated to keep up with  and I just don't have the time to re-learn things at this point in my career. They have had a good run up to now, but that is obviously over. Stupid, stupid, stupid decisions all over the purchase, upgrade, and use of this produce. Fire the clowns that did this. Any one for a "Classic Coke." I'm sure this will goto in that "Stupid Decisions" folder.

Hi I am just now downloading Creative Clouds :-) as an upgrade from an old Creative Suite 5.5. Before that I hade a Creative suite 3 etc. Is it necessary that I keep all these old programs etc on my computer to make Creative Clouds work or is it better that I uninstall them? Kind regards, AnnaReet

It is not necessary to retain the older installations.  YOu might want to consider if you will have any need for them in terms of working with older files, but other than that you can probably uninstall them without missing them.

  • Creative Cloud & Creative Suite 6 - Will I have two versions of InDesign, Illustra, etc?

I have Creative Suite 6 installed on my Windows 7 laptop.  I joined Creative Cloud and started downloading.  Apparently two versions of Illustrator and InDesign.  Oh my - that's a lotta disc space.
I'm uncomfortable uninstalling my Creative Suite 6.
I'm worried if I download the Creative Cloud versions of PHOTOSHOP & DREAMWEAVER - I'll lose all my plugins and web site definitions.  YIKES!
I searched all the FAQ, etc., found no answer.  Maybe I missed something.  I bet this is a really common question.
So is that the deal?  We have two versions of Adobe software?  What happens if I install Cloud versiosn of Dreamweaver and Photoshop?
    Thanks for your help.
    April

There aren't many differences between the Creative Cloud version of Photoshop and Dreamweaver at the moment.  You are welcome to uninstall or you can even go to Help>Deactivate.  Once you have deactivated when you open the software again you maybe given the option to License this Software.  If so you can enter your Adobe ID tied to your subscription and the software will begin using the licensing for your Creative Cloud subscription.

  • Looking to purchase creative cloud as a student. What will happen to the Creative Suite 6 Design Standard that i already have installed?

Hi, purchased 'Creative suite 6 Design Standard' with my macbook. Now looking to get After Effects but it is cheaper to buy the whole Creative Cloud in a bundle buying as a student than it is to buy After Effects on its own.
Will I encounter any problems with having two versions of illustrator, photoshop and indesign?
    Thanks

    Hi desousa403,
Yes you can use both CS6 and CC.

  • Can I sell my Creative Suite license after upgrading to Creative Cloud?

I own a license to the "CS5 - Design Premium" and decided to start using the Creative Cloud instead of upgrading my software. Because I already owned the suite, I was given a discount for the first year of Creative Cloud use ($29/mth).
I'm wondering if I'm allowed to sell my license of CS5 after accepting this upgrade price?
I contacted support a week ago but have not yet heard a response.

Just found the terms of the promotion. It doesn't mention anything about not selling... or it being an upgrade. I'll give it a go and see what happens.

  • Adobe Creative Suite Cloud on a MacBook Pro

I need to upgrade my ancient Adobe Creative Suite 3 and just learned that Adobe is now offering just one upgrade option - Creative Suite Cloud. I don't have much choice but upgrade, but before I take the plunge, I'd like to find out what I'm getting in to.
I found an unanswered thread on an Adobe forum where someone on a Mac complained about CS Cloud taking up far too much space on his hard drive. He also said something about having to move his websites into a different folder for some reason.
Anyway, I'd love to hear from others who are using Creative Suite Cloud on a Mac, especially if you upgraded from CS3. Do you have any tips to share?
I should add that I'm using MAMP to power my sites.
    Thanks!

Are you talking about adobe creative cloud?
If you are, the Adobe Creative Cloud give you most of Adobe's tools (and all that most would need) to do anything.  I will warn you about this though, is that it is a subscription, and you are basically renting it.  that means you really do not own it.
About the hard disk space, all Adobe apps seem to take up at least a GB (and this does not matter if you get the master collection or the Creative Cloud).  so ether way, it will take some space.
Also, if you want to try-before-you-buy, you can go to creative.adobe.com, and get a free account and try out all of he adobe apps available for creative cloud.  The best part of it, your apps will be updated to CS7 (if or when it comes out) instead of buying the apps again in your subscriptions.  if you need even more information, you can go to adobe's site to find out more (www.adobe.com)

I have owned Adobe Creative Suites since version 2 or 3.  I owned 5 or 6 when I decided to try the cloud.  Now I no longer want the expense of the cloud, but unfortunately I cannot find my non-cloud Creative Suites.
