Creative do it again with their shoddy driv

Really don't know whether Creative are expecting to go forwards, backwards, sideways or just disappear in a wormhole with their so-called "drivers". Been using the very old drivers for Vista because its the only "decent" (I use the term very loosely) one that gives me some sort of use while gaming. I recently downloaded the newest drivers for my X-Fi Fatality, and the sound hasn't really got any better, however my mic is less than appaling (forget satisfactory or mediocre). The mic can tell that I'm talking and everything so the input is fine, however the output is horrific. Its like I've got a fan between my mouth and the mic, or I'm using one of those voiceboxes that react to vibrations in your throat giving you a monotonic sound. I rely HEAVILY on VoIP when playing games such as CounterStrike Source, so if I have no Vo, it more or less takes away half the game as I have to stop, type, and risk getting killed. Probably a stupid question, but has anyone else had this issue? And if anyone has miraculously managed to rectify this problem, how did you do it's

Concider my Xfi works very well on my Vista 32 - I gues its something to do with your set up and not your Creative Xfi or its drivers?
I beg to differ. My X-Fi works fine under Vista 32. It works OK (besides the odd SCP) with the 2.3 drivers under Vista 64. With the 2.5 drivers, and 4GB of RAM, the microphone doesn't work correctly under Vista 64. If the RAM is restricted to a lower amount, it works again. As an experiment I plugged my X-Fi into a different machine, running Vista 64 with 4GB, but on a 680i chipset (my main system is 975X). The 2.5 drivers sometimes work (that is, the microphone works correctly). I say "sometimes" though, because about a third of the time the system is started, the only noise I hear is "PSSSSHHHHSSSHHHHSSSHHHH" which doesn't stop until the system is rebooted. The X-Fi is now sitting on a shelf until new drivers are released. Strangely enough, the?alternati've soundcards are working just fine in these very same systems (although admittedly, they don't quite have the same sound quality of the X-Fi when it is working correctly).

i am using for first time the time machine and an external hard drive because I want to erase my macbook and start from zero files. Am i keeping my files in the portable hard disk when I will connect it again with the macbook or the time machine will erase all?
I would like to know if after I erase all my data, empy hard drive inside the macbook, the time machine will erase all my files that I have saved in my "WD "My passport" external hard drive

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
Time Machine has to erase the external disk in order to make backups. Before setting Time Machine up, copy the files of your external disk to the hard disk of the Mac in order not to lose them, and then, set up Time Machine. The first backup will start automatically.

you can but there may be some issues and a lot of files will be saved to your c drive, anyway.

Your problem shows the importance of making backups.

Does anyone use a LaCie external hard drive with their Mac using imovie '09?  I have some questions.

Are you actually having a problem with the new Lacie drive, or are you just asking is the Lacie drive somehow different from your old G-Drive?
From a connection standpoint, most Lacie desktop drives have both USB and FireWire connections, just like the G-Drives do.  You would connect and use it the same as a G-Drive.
Regarding capturing to the external HD, if you are using a camcorder that has FireWire (iLink) connection, it is not advisable to have an external FireWire HD connected to your Mac at the same time as your camcorder; there are often communication conflicts between the camcorder and the hard drive if they are connected at the same time.  The conflicts usually appear as either dropped frames or a complete freeze.   This is more common with Canon miniDV camcorders but I have also seen this behavior with Sony miniDV camcorders.  (The problem is the camcorder's FW implementation, not the hard drive.)  The workaround is to capture to your Mac's internal HD and later copy the captured video to your external HD.

iPod classic hard drive needle sometimes skips (Red X). When it doesn't and seems to power on normally, I start to restore it in Itunes and then it starts to skip again with the Red X on the screen.  One time I was able to run the disk utility in time and reformat the hard drive, but the red x ended up appearing again and the hard drive started skipping again.
Is there anything I can do besides get a new hard drive?

  • Formatting the encrypted hard drive or intalling OS again with PXE boot can change TPM owner password file?

    Hello,
    1) I realized that when MBAM bitlocker encryption start both Recovery key and TPM owner password file are send to MBAM server. If we change the computername of the notebook, we can find out Recovery key from MBAM server with the KeyID as we can read it from
computer screen, but we can not find out TPM owner password file with the existing new computername information from MBAM server, so we have to know old names of all computers but it is impossible. So we have to do decryption and clearing TPM than we
can again encrypted it with its new name. is it right?
    2) We will going to deploy mbam encryption to our notebooks. But sometimes when a person quit the job his notebook can given to another person or new employee and based to our procedure when a notebook will given to another user it should installed
OS again with PXE boot. I would to know will it be enough to installing with this method again with a diffrent computer name or should I firstly clear its TPM than install OS with PXE to keep TPM owner password file missing as item 1?
    I hope i can explain what i mean :)
    Regards,
    SibelM

I would suggest you to first decrypt the laptop and then follow the process:-
    - Clear the TPM
    - Encrypt the type.
    - Check for the encryption behavior.
Cause I have found on some model that if the OS drive is encrypted, PXE boot fail on that machine even though I also did a direct PXE on an encrypted machine with clearing the TPM.
TPM ownership password is a hash file that gets generated with a set of algorithm. SO each time when you PXE boot, by clearing the TPM, the TPM hash password for the TPM will change. This has been done for security measures.

  • Has anyone had trouble with their computer recognizing your I phone after installing new hard drive and reloading  I tunes?

Has anyone had a problem with their computer recognizing their I phone ? I had to replace my hard drive And reloaded iTunes but know it doesn't recognize my phone but it will download pictures from it?

I had my HD replaced under the recall program. I am running 10.6.8 and Safari 5.1.7 on a 2.8GHz iMac.
I haven't noticed any significantly different behavior of Safari since having my HD replaced and using Time Machine to restore my data. The only thing I've run across in about 2 weeks is that Safari's Preferences panel takes a bit longer to load than I remember.
One thing you can try is launching Safari from your computer's main Applications folder. If it still crashes, you can also try downloadng a fresh copy here: http://www.apple.com/support/safari/
Have you ever checked out Firefox? I personally like it better than Safari because it offers more security options, such as greater control over cookies, and supports many useful privacy and security plugins.

Your video card driver may be fine for something, but just not compatible with Premiere Elements 13/13.1.
For those with the display card error, the answers include
    a. assure your video card/graphics card driver version is up to date according to the web site of the manufacturer of the card -
if necessary consider a driver roll back.
    b. determine in Device Manager/Display Adapters if the computer is using 2 cards instead of 1
    c. delete the BadDrivers.txt file
the rationale for that deletion is found in post 10 of the following older post...principle applies to 13 as well as 9.
Re: Premiere Elements 9 Tryout Serious Display Problem
Have you looked for computer ATI card settings that might be more compatible with Premiere Elements 13/13.1?
When is the program crashing - just opening a new project or rather crashing if editing a particular video format at the Timeline level?

  • When slides are updated within a MS Sharepoint slide library, how can you force an alert with the updated slide version going to users who have previous slide versions on their hard drive?

How can you hardcode/force that when a slide within a slide library (in Sharepoint 2010) is updated, that an alert is sent to the user who downloaded the slide to their hard drive so that they may replace the outdated slide with the recently
updated slide. There is a tic box option to set when downloading slides from a sharepoint slide library into power point that ensures alerts are sent when the presentation is opened allowing for replacement of the slide. But, it is an option. How can that
be hardcoded are forced on all slide library users who download slides from the shrepoint library into power point? Is there a workflow that can be written in Sharepoint or an option in power point to do this? Please advise. Thanks.

    Two things to check:
Add the network folder location as a trusted location in your Flash Global Security settings and then see if the videos will play.
If the first suggestion doesn't work, get in touch with your network admin dudes and find out if FLV files are disabled from working over the network from that location.  Many times unless a given file format is enabled on a network, the server assumes it's not desirable and won't serve it.

  • Creative mp3 player compatibility with PFS car au

I was wondering if the "Plays For Sure" compatible Creative Players will work with the PFS compatible car audio receivers from Kenwood and Alpine. I'm mostly wondering about my Zen Xtra, but I'm sure others would like to know if their players would work also. Is Creative pursuing testing this, or should I just assume that all PFS works with all other PFS?

I purchased music from iTunes, but there is one
problem, I can't play it on my Creative Zen Vision
    MP3 player.
    Yes, you are right.
I even burned a CD with
the music, and it won't play on my car stereo??
You must burn a CD-Audio to play it in your home/car stereo.
If you also want to play those songs on your Creative player, once you've done the CD-Audio you can rip it again in MP3.

  • Has anyone else had difficulty using WPA2 Internet sharing with their Apple TV? Any solutions?

    Hi.
I've seen references to this on here, but no solutions.
I use my 27" 2010 iMac to share Internet in my home, latest versions of OSX and iOS.. Works fine, sharing with iPhones, an iPad and my Apple TV 2.
Recently though, I changed to WPA2, and the Apple TV can't see Home Sharing is on. If I switch security (ie WPA2) off, then it can see it again.
So has anyone found a way to use WPA2 successfully with their Apple TV?
    Thanks in advance.

    I’d suggest uninstalling:
    Blackberry software
    the cycling74 driver
Any HP “utilities” (regarding the HP IO. Apple told developers to stop using Startup Items back in 10.3.)
any Adobe software you have (the “not loaded” ones are not loading because they’re incompatible.
    the com.apple.CSConfig one.
    facebook
    google keystone agent
Unfortunately you have a lot of very questionable old, incompatible, and probably bad software on your Mac that is not playing well with Mavericks.  Some of these can be difficult to uninstall, particularly if you are not familiar with poking around in Mac system folders.
You might consider cutting to the chase and doing a clean install:
backup your documents and passwords, network settings, etc.
    Completely erase your hard drive
Reinstall mavericks and your apps from scratch (not from backups)
    and finally replacing your documents.
It can be a good thing. Spring cleaning. If you want to go this route, let me know, I can give you some more detailed suggestions for how to do it. The advantage is you can get Mavericks running really fast and reliably, and then be more selective about what you reinstall. A lot of the stuff you have on there is probably from apps you don't even use anymore (like for your Blackberry), or that really aren't necessary.

  • CREATIVE PUT A CHARGER WITH THE PLAYER

    Hello,
I have been a great fan of creative products the great price and function of every product made me happy, but recently I bought a Zen Micro and a Zen MicroPhoto. Two great players with only one flaw, THE USB CABLE IS NO CHARGER. If you are trying to beat the best selling player out there (Ipod) you should put the one thing that matters. A CHARGER it is so simple you come home you go and charge it ANYWHERE where you have electricity. This is like not giving the earphones with the player it limits the buyer, and if this is a money saving trick then maybe it should be saved on the package but put charger. To charge the player it must be connected to a running computer (mostly at night when you are a sleep) and that is not exactly a comfortable thing when you comp. gets fried because of lightling including you player and everything else... I think that Creative is a good company but saving money on a basic and needed thing like a charger is just not the way to go...
SO PLEASE READ THIS, TELL ME WHAT YOU THINK AND MAYBE CREATIVE WILL READ IT ALSO AND CHANGE ITS FLAWS... THANK YOU

    Flimpie wrote:
True Maybe So, But the MicroPhoto Cost me $320 with tax and if I want a charger Il need to add another $60 to have something that should be there... Might as well buy an Ipod or an Iri'ver
$320 and $60 in what currency? or did you mean $230? I don't understand your #s. The Microphoto has an MSRP of US $229.99, the charger an MSRP of US $29.99. Granted, IMO $260 is still too much cash for a Microphoto w/charger. But again, we chose to buy these products knowing fully well that an AC charger would not be included in the package. Creative didn't force us to buy their mp3 players, and they are not the only mp3 manufacturer on the block. While I agree that the lack of 'accessories' provided with the unit is a bit annoying, I'm more upset with the battery life. If I'd ask Creative to do anything, I'd request they do real tests on the batteries they provide with their units to give a more appropriate hour rating than 'up to 2 hours continuous play' with several caveats on how to get the 2 hours (including, but not limited to, not using basic functions like scanning through tracks,?shuffle mode, using the touchpad or?EQ, etc.). IMO, the lack of real information regarding battery life?is a far more eggregious omission than an AC charger.

  • Possible confliction with external hard drive?

Hi guys, I'm sort of new here, but I could really use some help.
I love my iPod (30 gig Video), I've had it for just over a year, but last week it all of a sudden started screwing up on me. I'm sorry it's such a lengthy explaination, but I haven't been able to find help anywhere else... If you don't feel like reading it, essentially my iPod seems to be conflicting with my external hard drive.
I keep all my music on a 150gb external hard drive since my laptop's 30 gigs barely has any room left over with all the programs and photos I have on it. iTunes has worked fine in the past with playing/syncing music from an external hard drive but all of a sudden it's decided that iPod and Hard Drive don't mix.
When I have my hard drive plugged in by itself, everything is normal, and iTunes can play the music fine. Though once I plug my iPod in, iTunes and the whole computer freezes up. I get the usual "Do Not Disconnect" message on the iPod, and it seems to be doing something, but everything on the computer just stops. I can click the start menu, I can click the close button on iTunes, nothing happens... UNTIL I unplug my iPod. Then everything unfreezes and whatever buttons I clicked while the screen was frozen do their appropriate action. If I had clicked to close iTunes it would then close iTunes... If I closed iTunes while the iPod is plugged in (which does nothing), then unplug the iPod causing iTunes to actually close, I get a message saying that the iPod needs to be reformatted to work with Windows and I should restore the iPod within iTunes to solve that problem.
At the time, I hadn't tried the iPod alone, without the hard drive plugged in (since I keep the hard drive plugged in all the time), so I figured it was a problem with the iPod, rather than a problem with the hard drive.
So I took the "restore" idea, and went to my friend's computer, which is running Vista. He has iTunes, and his computer is fine. I plug my iPod into it, iTunes opens up, things work great. So the problem didn't seem to be with my iPod. I took the opportunity of having my iPod in a working iTunes environment on my friend's computer, and I restored my iPod, clearing all the songs off of it, which is not really a big deal, since all my songs are on my ext. hard drive anyway. I took my iPod back to my computer, and nothing changed, I still had that problem, and I then realised that the problem only existed while my hard drive was plugged in.
It was after I restored it that I realised if I unplug my hard drive, and have my iPod plugged in alone, everything works fine. It opens up iTunes, it's recognised by My Computer, things are normal, except for the fact that I can't do anything, since all my music is on my ext. hard drive, so I get to look at a whole library of songs with little exclaimation marks beside them. Syncing didn't do anything except transfer the handful of songs from my library that AREN'T located on my external hard drive to my iPod, and of course, once I tried plugging my hard drive in... frozen.
I managed to figure out that if I started iTunes with my hard drive plugged in (so iTunes would know that the songs are in the right location), then unplugged the hard drive, plugged the iPod in (so iTunes would recognise it), then plugged the hard drive back in, things would work alright, though when I tried syncing it, it went painfully slow and stopped after about 3 albums, and this process hasn't worked since, it just freezes up again.
I know I could just copy songs slowly to my computer, and sync them to my iPod from the computer rather than the hard drive, but that would take ages, and I'd like to have the problem fixed rather than to have to go through that process any time I wanted to change what's on my iPod.
So that's my problem. I've followed the "5 R's" that the support here seems to swear by, I have tried unistalling and reinstalling iTunes twice, I've uninstalled both iTunes and the iPod updater stuff, and then installed everything clean from the CD that came with the iPod. I've tried renaming the drive letters of my ext. hard drive and my iPod in case there was some sort of confliction there, nothing seems to have worked. I don't think I changed anything with my computer that would cause this change (I ever restored Windows to a date before this problem occurred), and as for the update to iTunes 7.4.1.2, I didn't update it until after this problem started, so it wouldn't have been caused by the update.
I hope that made sense... If anyone can give me some help as to how I can get my iPod back working on my computer I'd be incredibly grateful and thanks in advance!
If anyone knows what's going on, it's probably somebody here

This sounds like more of a Windows specific iPod problem. You may get better responses if you posted it in that specific section of the forums.
