Creative drivers give continuous static, freeze my system when sound plays

I've recently reinstalled Windows 7. Completely wiped my system partition and installed Windows 7 there from scratch. I am now having huge problems with audio.
First thing I would like to mention is that I had none of these problems on my previous installation. Audio worked perfectly, no problems with my sound card (except for no Stereo Mix).
Well, first thing I notice is audio doesn't work. Drivers are, of course, not present. So I install my trusty Daniel_k drivers for my Audigy SE using the setup.exe. First thing I notice - static. Not hardware related, because when the drivers weren't there I got complete silence. Next thing I notice is that as soon as I restart my computer, it locks up. Explorer.exe is dead (can't drag selection boxes on desktop, taskbar is not responding). The mouse then stops moving and I hear a continuous loop of the last half-second of audio that was played. Have to hard-reboot the PC.
I've isolated this issue to the Creative drivers. I uninstalled all the Creative programs (audio control panel, all that junk). System was a bit more stable, could drag selection boxes etc. now. But the static was still there. Went to the playback options and got to a button that said something like "only digital output". Checked it - static was gone. "Great", I thought. Played some music in foobar2000 - nothing. unchecked the box - music blasts loudly for one second and the whole PC freezes again with the infinite loop. After some more testing, it seems that when ANY sound plays, it freezes my system. Music, YouTube, even clicking "Test" in Playback Devices.
I've reformatted and reinstalled Windows 7 a few times to no avail. Problem is still present on each install. This is all after installing all the Windows 7 updates (SP is integrated into the OS), but I doubt this makes any difference.
The drivers from Windows Update have the same problem, as do the official Creative drivers from the site (creative.com). PAX drivers are broken too.
I've also tried ignoring the setup.exe and just installing the drivers themselves through Device Manager. Didn't help. Also disabled all the other audio devices and moved the soundcard to a different PCI slot. Also nothing.
At the moment I am connected to my onboard audio, no issues. This is not a solution for me, though, as I want to use my sound card, because sound quality on it is VASTLY superior. Anyone know something that might help? The most surprising thing is that the reformats didn't work.

  • Creative Roar SR20A continuously prompts "TeraBass On/Off" When Playing Music While Charging

I have noticed that when playing music for a while (over an hour or so) on the Roar while charging causes the speaker to prompt "Tera Bass On" and "Tera Bass Off" continuously every one or two seconds. This continues till I switch off the charging and then its functions normally. I believe this happens once the unit gets fully charged. Has somebody faced this issue??? Is there a fix for it??? This is an annoying bug in the firmware.

  • Creative Drivers causing non-stop Blue Screens

    Hey Everyone,
I have a very serious problem with my Creative drivers, which is driving me absolutely crazy.
I have owned a SoundBlaster Audigy 2 ZS Notebook for quite some time and it has been working just fine in my laptop (I'm aware that this is the SoundBlaster forum, not the PCMCIA forum, however, since this is a driver-issue, I felt that this may be the better place to ask for help). I stopped using the card for about half a year and now that I want to use it again, the drivers keep blue screening my system!
I'm pretty clueless what more I can try to make that thing work again. I've uninstalled the drivers I had on my computer and tried every single version of the drivers available from the Creative website. Somewhere in the middle of the installation process, right after the drivers were copied and the card is being initialized, the system will hang without a bluescreen and without responding to Ctrl+Alt+Del or Num Lock. So in order to prevent that from happening, I started removing the sound card from my system, right after the installer started copying the drivers. That way, at least the installation process could finish successfully. However, after restarting my system, inserting the Audigy 2 ZS Notebook, emupia2k.sys would cause an IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL stop error. As I said, this happens with ALL of the drivers available from the Creative website (v2.09.006 from 0/09/06; v2.2.0002 from 03/6/07 and v2.8.000 from 03/23/09).
Out of curiosity, I then tried daniel_k's hacked drivers from the forum. These installed fine and without crashing my system during the installation process, however, they did still crash my systemwhen sound was playing back. You could forsee an impending crash by the sound starting to get messed up, sounding digital, choppy and roboty. The bluescreen that would appear was usually caused by commonfx.sys
Now I have completely given up on Creative dirvers and started using the open source drivers from the kX project. Problem with these drivers is that they do not support the Audigy 2 ZS Notebook fully, but at least my sound card works without causing my system to bluescreen.
My plea to the community: Please give me some kind of idea what I can do to get that card working smoothly again. The Creative drivers have never been very reliable on my system, but this is just rediculous. I can't stick to the kX project drivers, since I need SPDIF output, which doesn't seem to work with those drivers.
Here is what I have already tried to fix the issue:
    - Uninstalled all traces of Creative drivers with Revo Uninstaller (using the built-in scan for leftovers)
    - Used Driver Sweeper .5.5 from Guru3D to delete leftover sys files and other Creative components - http://bit.ly/AECNY
    - Used Device Remover to delete references to the old Creative hardware from the registry - http://bit.ly/jingo
    - Scanned the registry from anything containing "Creative" or "ct" and deleted it, if I deemed it safe
    - Searched my hard dri'ves for anything referencing ct or Creative and deleted it.
    - Scanned my registry with CCleaner
    - Used the Creative Setup tool included in some of the older versions of the Creative drivers and used the driver removal feature that it has, to remove the drivers. Curiously, the tool would keep on detecting the driver, even after having removed it and performing a restart.
    My System:
I run Windows XP Tablet PC Edition, with Service Pack 3 and all updates since then. My BIOS is the latest there is (from some time in 2007) and my PCMCIA controller is a Toshiba ToPIC00. I haven't updated my BIOS, the drivers for the CardBus controller or for my chipset in the half year that I did not use the sound card in.
?Creative Developers: If you like, I can crash my system a couple more times with your drivers, and send you a full kernel memory dump! Those things are about 200 megs each, so be sure to tell me the location of an FTP server or similar, that I could use.
    Thanks for all your help

  • Creative drivers do not recognize Audigy (1) Platinum

My Creative Audigy Platinum Ex has been working great since my old computer.
Last summer I built a new Athlon 64 system using a MSI K8t NEO FSR.
My main problem was the fact that the creative drivers did not , no matter what id id recognize my sound card. I did everything from trying the old CD drivers, to trying to manually install it and point it to an extracted driver. Nothing worked.
Since last year I've been using KX drivers which recognized my card without a hitch. While these are good for music with all the customizability and the DSPs and such, I feel that their 'directional sound' isn't as strong.
I would love to use creative drivers again, (props to KX for making those drivers though, they worked :| and were very good for someone who would like the customizability).
I talked to creative support for a while, and while they did try to give me alot of help, in the end nothing worked and they concluded it was a defecti've card which I would have to pay shipping for and may even have to buy a refurbed card... but i knew my card was fine, recognized perfectly with creative drivers on my old computer, and also by the KX drivers.
I do know that it is something with my motherboard + soundcard, so therefore i'm asking if there is anything anyone can reccomend to me to try to get creative drivers to recognize it.
After searching this forum i've already seen other people have these problems as well but i never really found any solutions =/
Thanks for any help and sorry for the long post
-AndrewMessage Edited by wzc89 on 08-02-2005 08:58 PM

The reason you didn't found any solutions, is because there isn't any... The problem is the subsystem ID of the soundcard being incorrectly rewritten in its eeprom by the mainboard somehow... Have the problem too
There are no real solutions, since CL doesn't come up with a patch to rewrite the subsystem ID correctly in the eeprom. There are some workarounds though, the only real solution is getting a new card from CL but you'll risk getting the same problem again when installing it in your pc.

  • Creative Drivers...ugh...please help.

So my card is finally back, yey! It works on XP as I've tested, but my main is Windows 7.
Thing is, I used Driver Sweeper to remove all my older drivers and -cannot- get this X-Fi recognized, except for a Hi-Definition Audio Device.
    : Add/Remove Uninstall programes
2: uninstall every thing creative related, then uninstall the audio panel last
3: go in device manage and under sound, video, game controlers i right clicked creative SB X-FI and uninstalled it AND CHECKED the box Next to uninstall software
    4: Rebooted
    5: used DriverSweeper
    6: rebooted
7: used CCleaner the file cleaner AND registry cleaner
    8: Rebooted
9: went in to device manage and right clicked on the high defanition audio thingy and clicked uninstall
(WARNING DO NOT Reboot Yet (as it will just reinstall that high def driver) ONLY reboot when this step by step tells you to)
0: went in to windows update and installed microsofts wdm driver for creative
    : rebooted
(the next couple of steps can be found on the official download page for ur os and card)
2: Installed Product Identification Module Update? Jan-2-0
    3: Rebooted
4: installed Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium Driver 2.7.0007? Jul-30-09
    5: rebooted
    6: installed Creative ALchemy .4.02? Jul-30-09
(not gonna reboot Yet only reboot when this step by step tells you to)
    7: install Creative Console Launcher 2.6.35. Aug-9-09
    8: install Creative Diagnostics 5..02? Nov-26-09
9: install Creative SoundFont Bank Manager 3.2.02? Dec--09
    20: REBOOT
(now wait a bit for every thing to configer right and for the registration just click cancle or what ever and click never register)
    2: Download Daniel_K's? XFI_SupportPack_2_0
22: extract it in to its own folder with nothign elce in it
23: right click setup.exe and click run as administrator
24: proceed with the instalations (notice that it says the driver is updated allready, just proceed)
25: when it gets to the dts connect and any thign elce that says (same version reported) just click YES to overwrite it
26: click YES To reboot now
27: wait for a bit for the computer to start up and configer it self
28: and there you go u can open up the programes? with out gettign that annoying "there is no supported audio device avaliable. you need to close the application" message? and any other message u were getting.
I tried the above mentioned, but the Microsoft WDM driver won't install, it fails every time. Advice?
I've tried official Creative drivers, Daniel_K's, and even selecting to install the Drivers even though it won't work, it tells me to restart, and boom, nothing.

). I think this may be due to Creative files still in registry even after using driver sweeper. I have edited the registry to delete anything by creative for a completely clean install. It is remarkable how many files still remain after trying to clean your system usin the methods you have described.
Gi've it a try but only if you are confident that you know what you are doing.

  • Creative drivers and CPU spikes

Hi. I have a few (probably Creative-related) issues that bother me, but hopefully solving one will make the other go away. If not, I'll post it in a separate thread.
Back to the issue. I am using Windows XP. Most of the times, my CPU gets clogged a little by the System process, which takes up to ~10% CPU usage. I carried out a little investigation and it turned out the Creative drivers are responsible for it. It's worth pointing out that I'm no computer scientist, I just followed a simple tutorial ( link here: http://blogs.technet.com/b/markrussi...7/3031251.aspx ). According to Kernrate, XENFilt.sys driver has slightly more hits that the other ... entries ... Again, I'm not familiar with these professional terms. I've found out this driver was produced by Creative, so after updating the drivers and software to the recent version, here I am - asking for a little help.
Year ago I purchased the Tactic 3D Alpha headphone set with the drivers, some software and USB device, which I connect my headphones to. When those spikes are persistent ( and unfortunately, they are ), I just unplug this USB device and plug it in right afterwards. The System process calms down and the problem is gone for like, 20 minutes? This period of time varies a lot.
    Thank you for your help
    Sincerely, Thomas

Since you are using Rhapsody To Go then you need to have the PlaysForSure firmware on the player. The PlaysForSure firmware changes the player so that it doesn't use the Creative Drivers to recognize itself on the computer, but rather a Microsoft supplied driver which is included in Windows Media Player 0.
Using the Creative Driver, you would have to install it on every computer you plan to take your Micro to. However the PFS firmware only allows you to use Windows XP systems running WMP0. Whereas with the Creative Driver you get Windows XP/2000/98/Me, and even Mac and Linux support with the appropriate software installed on those computers.
But since you want to use Rhapsody To Go then you need to install the PlaysForSure firmware in order to transfer those songs to the player.

  • Vista SP 1 Sound Issues with Creative Drivers

Hi all, I recently switched to a X-Fi Elite Pro, with a Nvidia Video Card.
    Windows Vista SP (32bit)
    Intel Pentium D .8 Ghz
    2gb RAM
XFX GeForce 8600 GT 52mb running
    Creative X-Fi Elite Pro
(it's been a while since I've needed this kind of support so let me know if more info is needed)
Anyways, from the moment Vista plays the logon sound there is static crackling and chirping noises whenever there is audio playing at the same time as any kind of visual change on the screen (not every screen update). For example videos on websites that play them as plugins are especially static-y. However, playing a fullscreen game (i.e. World of Warcraft) does not produce the static.
Interestingly, I have now tried two different video cards. The Nvidia and now a ATI Radeon, both have the same identical problem. I first thought that it might just be a Nvidia Issue but this is not the case
I have checked for IRQ conflicts and none exist that I can find. I have updated Windows as much as I think I can. I've tried changing Creative drivers as well.
Any advice is appreciated.Message Edited by djscotty on 0-04-2009 05:7 [email protected]

Are there any unique benefits that come with my paid membership?
Yes, as a member of Creative Cloud, you get many benefits that you do not get when you purchase a traditional shrinkwrapped product:
Access to both the Mac OS and Windows® versions of the desktop applications and the ability to install them on your primary computer and one backup computer. So, if you have a Mac at home and a PC at work, you can install your applications on both as long as they are not running at the same time. I really don't have an answer for that one. I guess that while trying to get things working correctly, I would use the most basic monitor I had which in your case would be the Eizon using the Thunderbolt port and adaptor.
When you boot into Safe Mode the startup is quite slow, but you should get the Apple logo and then the spinning gear below it (release the SHIFT key when it appears.) Then after a little more time you should see a gray progress bar appear below the spinning gear. When that disappears the computer will startup to a login screen.
