Creative FPS 2000 laptop hookup help

I have the Creative FPS 2000 and a Dell Inspiron 6000. I have been plugging either the front or rear speakers into my laptop.. so I cannot get the full experience from the speakrs. I can only hear the front or rear speakers. What can I buy for my laptop to help me take advantage of the digital surround sound of the FPS 2000? Some type of PCMCIA card maybe? Any help is appreciated
Thank you

I have this speaker system as well, and mine works perfectly. I'm still in awe when I turn on some CD quality music and hear this speaker system play. I can't imagine how awesome the newer systems must be. My soundcard has a yellow digital speaker input for the red DIN connector. However, there is a cable adapter that converts the red DIN connector to a single yellow audio plug (like the small speaker plugs). I don't know if this would work on your notebook because my soundcard has a special input just for that plug. I believe this is the Sony/Philips Digital Interface Format (S/PDif) plug and there is a corresponding cable from my soundcard to my DVD player.

    Bonjour,

  • WRT54G2 connection issues with a windows 2000 laptop, HELP!!! please?

Ok, at my house I have a newer version of a wireless router (I can't remember which). The old windows 2000 laptop that I have connects perfectly there, but when I installed a WRT54G2 router at my grandma's house it wouldn't connect to the router. My vista laptop and my grandma's vista desktop both are connecting to the router fine (as is evident in my typing this right now), but not the windows 2000.
It is registering that the signal exists, however, it says that it is out of range and it can't connect every time I try. Which makes no sense at all because the laptop in question is sitting no more than 4 ft away from the router.....
It's driving me insane! Does anyone have any suggestions on fixing this problem? Plus I'm not even sure if it's an issue with the computer or if it's an issue with the router itself......
Any ideas would be GREATLY appreciated!
    Thanks,
    illueia
P.S. sorry if I was too rambley...... or I wasn't clear enough....

Download and install the latest driver for your wireless card...
I aaume the security on the WRT54G2 wireless router must be WPA/WPA2 and that's the reason your Laptop(win2000) does not connect to it...
What error do you get when you attempt to connect to the Wireless Network ?
If it connects to your wireless network then what IP Address do you get for your Wireless Connection ?

  • Fourpoint Surround FPS 2000 Digital - Replacement AC Adapter?

Yeah, anyone reading this is thinking, "That system is ancient! Didn't that come out around EAX 1.0?" Indeed, friends, indeed. And a faithful and wonderful system it has been. I would love for it to continue its service in my home, too, if I can locate a replacement AC adapter. Go figure. Speakers still work, but without power what good are they? Again, I'm looking for the AC adapter for the Cambridge Soundworks Fourpoint Surround FPS 2000 Digital speaker package. It features 5VDC 3A output. I'm a bit hesitant to PAY to ask Creative if they can help me through customer support. =/ Especially for such an old system that gets no recognition on their site at all. =) Thanks all! -Rober

Cambridge Soundworks FPS2000 Digital System Model#: C5W500AC Adapter Model#: TEAD-66-53000U Hope that helps.
I just found a generic transformer at Radio Shack (gag me!) and they want $90US (again, please) which is a bit more than I ever plan to pay for a Radio Shack part. At $90, I'd just save up and buy one of the newer model systems. =/

  • Which recovery dvd to get for my HP 2000 laptop with Windows 8

Hello again.  I recently posted re: an HP 2000 laptop that is really bad off.  It appears to be full of viruses, and is missing so much that I cannot even do a refresh.   If I try it states unable to complete, etc. as files missing.  Also, the program 24x7 help seems to have taken over, but if I try to remove it, it states it is no longer there.   Let's just say I may be a newbie at a lot of this, but I have been able to get other machines back to normal, and this no.  Needless to say I contacted HP and it is no longer under warranty.  They stated for 99.00 for I believe 1-2 hours that a tech would help me out over the phone, or for something like 14.99/month I could sign up for tech support.  I just want a restore dvd/thumb drive, and I asked, but NEVER offered.  I really believe I can get this machine working properly again, but will have to look elsewhere for restore media.  Some of you may scoff at this, but I have found numerous HP restore dvd's on Ebay.   The machine has Windows 8 64 bit, but a lot of the HP dvd's I have found are Windows 8 Pro 64 bit.  The HP 2000 does not state anywhere if it has Pro, etc. on it, so will one of these dvd's help me get this thing back to square one?  I realize all personal stuff, etc. will be wiped out, but it is a no go as it sits anyway.  Also, when I have tried to find the drivers on this site for the specific model/product number or this HP 2000 I am trying to fix I get nowhere.  An suggestions there?   Thank you very much in advance for any help/advice.  FYI, I am not going to call HP support again, so I need other options.   Thanks.

Hello Paul.  Thank you for the information.  I must have typed the the model number wrong last time.  I tried again, and got to the page you mentioned.  It does not state anywhere if I can request as a dvd, or thumb drive.  Do you know if there is a way to specify?  I would prefer in thumb drive format myself.  It's $31.00, but if it gets the machine up and running well worth it.  Thanks again!

  • My HP Deskjet F4280 printer won't work with my new HP 2000 laptop w/ windows 8.1

I have a HP Deskjet F4280 printer. I recently bought a HP 2000 laptop. I put the printers install disk in the laptop to set up my printer but it says windows 8 doesn't support that printer! It also does say that windows 2000, XP, Vista are supported on the disk for the printer...help! Is there a work around?

    Hey Alyssa426,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
Since the installation disk does not support Windows 8.1, I would suggest trying to download, and install the drivers directly from the HP Support website. I have included a link to the 'HP Deskjet F4200/F4224 All-in-One Printer series Full Feature Software and Driver'. Once the software is downloaded, open the software, and follow through the on screen instructions for installation.
Please let me know the outcome of installing the software.
    Thank you.

  • [ Control Volume Broken on FPS 2000 ]

Hi. I bought the Cambridhe Four Point Surround 2000 Digital on year 2000. The Cable of Volume Control is broken, doesn't work good, and is too complex for be fixed by me.Where can i get a new Control Volume ? i am in Europe? Thanks.

I have come to a similar conclusion. I took the volume controller apart. Nothing in there except a potentiometer/switch and a led. I found no obvious problems like a short. Since the volume changing happens at different volume settings, I don't see how it could be the potentiometer. I took the amp apart and again found no obvious problems. I can't say for sure if heat causes the problem but it does seem like the problem does occur more frequently when the ambient temperature is higher and the system has been in use for awhile. I called Creative and they do not offer a replacement amp or subwoofer. If the problem gets too difficult to live with I will probably replace the FPS 2000's with Logitech X-530's.

  • Black Screen on HP 2000 Laptop

My HP 2000 laptop (running Windows 8.1, Intel Pentium) goes to a black screen after I log in. The cursor moves, but the screen is blank. I read that others were having the same problem, so I tried to do some troubleshooting. I tried pressing F11 after starting it up and got to the troubleshooting screen, where I tried to do a system refresh. It said "The drive where Windows is installed is locked. Unlock the drive and try again." Then, I tried doing a system restore but it said "no restore points have been created". When I tried to create one, a dialog box appeared and said "System Protection is only available in online operating system." Lastly, I tried opening task manager from command prompts to see if I could open any programs from there, but every time I try to open a new task, it says "Windows cannot find (insert task here)." I don't want to do a system reset since I've never backed up my hard drive and I'll lose all my files. Is there anything else I can do?
If it helps, this morning before this all started, my laptop had the "Kernel data inpage error message" and shut down. The black screen problem started after that.

  • FPS 2000 & Audigy 2

I recently upgraded my card from Live X-Gamer to an Audigy 2 card.
I am using FPS 2000 Cambridge Soundworks speakers as well. Now this speaker system is digital input only and it seems as though my rear channel speakers no longer function.
Is the cabling that is needed to fix this problem available from Creative?
    Thanks in advance.

Thanks for answering Jason. I did see those directions and did try that. Still no luck.
I guess the reason I asked about the cable was that I saw this in the support section:
"Creative Speakers with a Digital DIN INput Connector
The Four Point Surround FPS2000 Digital Multimedia Speaker System, a 4-channel speaker system, has only the Digital Din connector. It does not have any decoding capabilities.
A Multi-pole mini plug to DIN converter cable is required to connect from the Digital Out on the audio card to the Digital IN on the speaker system."

And those are my exact speakers.
I guess jason thought that you were using the analog line in. This should be the cable you need.

  • X-Fi digital out problem with FPS 2000 speak

I just upgraded my old SB Li've! to X-Fi ExtremeMusic.
I connected my 4. digital FPS 2000 Cambridge Soundwork speakers to the digital i/o port at the back of the sound card, but I could only hear from front speakers. Nothing from the rear speakers.
Also when I run the speaker connection wizard, after I pick digital output, the program only allows me to select either headphone or 2. speakers even though I connected to my FPS2000 which is 4. speakers.
Is it because my orginal mini-plug to DIN converter cable from FPS2000 is a 3-pole only and X-Fi digital out port is 4-pole? If that's the case, is it possible to buy a 4-pole mini-plug to DIN converter cable which works for FPS2000?
    Will this cable http://us.creative.com/products/product.asp?category=3&subcategory=58&product=0375 &nav=systemRequirements
    work?

Actually you are having exactly the same problem as other users with DTT3500 or 5700 speakers. The X-Fi does not support the DIN connection. The digital-out of the X-Fi is the industry standard SPDIF. This means only 2-channels can be sent!
You should connect your FPS speakers to the analog outs of the soundcard. Quality will be anyway better, as the X-Fi includes modern DACs at 24-bits, which is not the case of the FPS2000 speakers.

  • Creative cannot be bothered to help

#Creative cannot be bothered to helps Have tried and tried to get Creative to understand a simple request for a replacement AD_Link cable for the Elite Pro(same as the I/O Cnsole upgrade kit)
    For my X-Fi card.
It is NOT the ribbon cable that connects the card to the INTERNAL I/O unit.
It is the long cable that connects to the back of card and back of I/O Console in the same way that the Elite Pro external I/O console connects.
ALL they do is pass me round and round and not even tell me HOW to get a replacement cable.

The cable has never been for sale

I'm in the same boat. ?I've been trying to hunt down one of these cables for almost a year. ?I contact Creative customer support every couple of months just to see if someone there will take pity on me, but no luck so far. ?The annoying thing is Creative are still selling the X-Fi Pro so I presume the ?AD_LINK cable is still in production. ?Surely there must be some way of Creative getting a hundred extra cables to appease frustrated customers like musicman53 and myself. ?I'd be willing to pay over the odds for one and would even end my boycott on Creative products, so it would be good business for Creative. ?I li've in hope...

  • Windows 2000 laptop seems unable to locate extreme base station?

I've bought a new Imac and extreme base station - i've wired my cable internet through the Wan port into the Extreme and then through a cable into the Imac and this works fine but despite the fact that my extreme base station has been configured and the green light is showing, my IBM thinkpad (running windows 2000) is unable to locate it? It can find other Wifi networks in the area which suggests it is working? Any ideas? I have changed the wireless security to WEP but still no joy? Thanks Paul

Hello PaulWilliams...Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
First, try temporarily disabling WEP (or any) encryption on the 802.11n AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBSn), and then try accessing the Internet wirelessly with your Windows 2000 laptop.
If successful, I'd suggest using WPA or WPA2, instead of WEP, for your wireless security...assuming that your Windows 2000 laptop supports these. If you must use WEP, then you will need to provide the "Equivalent Network Password" to the laptop in order for it to connect wirelessly.
