Creative Intrigue 3300 , inputs

Subwoofer has got audio input, so I've connected the ( lime green jack ) to the lime green jack on the sound card ( front speakers ), they work fine but no subwoofer. The system came with a 2 into jack splitter , do i need to get another cable to so I can connect both front speakers and subwoofer into the same connection ( audio input ) on the subwoofer ?

Thanks for that, it might be useful to include that on the creative website tutorials ... but i should have sussed it myself really.
Thanks for the quick reply

  • No responce from Creative about BF2/Openal and what n

    Ok, over the last few weeks a few of us have been really going hard to get EAX sounding better in BF2. Trying all kinds of things. With all the tips thrown around its seems that its working a hell of a lot better than before.
    I for one get AWESOME EAX through out game now due to combined efforts of members here ( you know who you are, AWESOME JOB GUYS )
    But why no responce from creative? Some input on what we are doing would be nice from them. I dont mean blow sun shine up our .......... but anything to show us that they are working on a simple fix other than all the work we need to do to get it sounding better.
    You know Creative, we are not that bad, ( your customers ) we dont bite and you can join in , after all it is your site

    Well, I have to agree that I like Creative's Support Team.
    4 years ago, I bought a faulty GeForce 2MX from a shop in my country which was having sales because it was closing. It appears, the bargain was not that much of a bargain, as the graphics card was faulty. The red signal was missing form the output. So I tried to contact the shop by they never replied. Then I contacted Creative. At first the guys there didn't take me seriously and told me to try different driver settings and etc. But I am no novice and even the BIOS boot screen was messed, so no driver could save this card.
    So I made a post in the forums, complaining about support telling me to visit tomshardware.com to find a solution, a moderator sees it and within a day the Support Manager of the European region telephoned me. I received a replacement 2 days later, BEFORE I got the RMA number for the faulty card!
    I know we complain about driver updates etc... But even Li've! users have XP drivers and applications! The poor guys that had Aureal cards, then Cirrus CS4630 (which is much newer than EMU0K) and ESS Canyon3D don't! (Or they are MSs drivers, without anything fancy in them).
    Well, the best thing we could wish to have here, is having someone form Developer Relations keeping an eye of the forums. They are the only ones who can really help us here, not the moderators.

  • TV@nywhere -- no sound when timeshifting

    I just installed my card, and most of it works, although some of the channels are have really bad reception, and tuning is no help.
    Anyway, the big problem I can't seem to solve is with pausing and timeshifting.  Both work, but I get no sound on playback.  I have notice that the software is muting my Line-in channel when I activate timeshifting.  If I unmute it while buffering, I get sound on the buffered track, but I also hear double sounds.  In any case, it is a pain to unmute the sound everytime I want to pause a show.
    Anyone know of a fix, or a newever version of the drivers or software that fixes the problem?

    I am very disappointed of this TV card.
    And yes the latest patches provided by you have been installed.  This is the main problems:
    1) When opening InterVideo MSI PVS, the sound card (Creative Live) audio input sources are always changing (muting on/off) even if not related to InterVideo MSI option. So we always have to reset them to work (so when we schedule a recording the sound may not work or it opens the mic or mute the midi???). Example, we set the card to the input line in your software, when starting the software it may mute the input line and remove the mute on the mic.  It's not always the same behavior, but always gives an erratic one.
    2) Remote control only works half of the time.  Cannot use the digits (0 to 9) to change a 2 digits channel (???).

  • FYI, Audigy & ASIO - ASIO I/Os Explained

    FYI, this is based on Audigy 2 Platinum eX but functionality is ~same w/ other models too:
    Creative wrote:
    Asio Inputs
    At 16 bit 48KHz, Sound Blaster Audigy 2’s ASIO driver also supports 12 simultaneous sample-synchronous, low-latency ASIO audio inputs that are sample-synchronised to the ASIO outputs listed above. Again, there are more sources available than merely the physical inputs of the system, and these are mapped as follows:
    (Note that in 24 bit 96KHz mode the inputs are limited to the analog input pairs.)
    • ASIO inputs 1 and 2 come from the Sound Blaster Audigy 2 eX Drive Line In 2 stereo input;
    !! My NOTE: AnalogMix(Line-In/Aux-In/analog CDAudio/PC (W-U-H)/TAD/...)
    • ASIO inputs 3 and 4 (Mix Pre EQ) This records a simple downmix of all audio coming out of the sound card, without EAX effects, regardless of what speaker mode you are in. (This isn’t a physical input);
    !! My NOTE: (this functions as "What U Hear")
    • ASIO inputs 5 and 6 are "Mix (Post EQ Front L/R)", and this, too, isn’t a physical input. Using compatible software, this allows the signal to be fed via the onboard Creative DSP Spatializer and main EQ, making it possible to record a "virtual" 6.1 mix for playback over a two-channel headphone or loudspeaker system. What happens is that the DSP Spatializer processes the individual surround components in a way that recreates the illusion of 6.1 surround-sound from a two-speaker system. Very neat! What’s more, you can hear the effect when replayed over any two-speaker system or headphones, and so, if you use this effect on one of your own tracks, anyone can play it back using regular stereo playback equipment. Note, however, that, if you’re in 6.1 speaker mode and record this output, no signal will be output from the rear, centre or subwoofer channels. What you hear will be the virtual surround-sound coming from a single stereo output. If you want to hear these elements separately, choose "Mix (Pre EQ)";
    • ASIO inputs 7 and 8 are "Mix (Post EQ Rear L/R) ;
    • ASIO inputs 9 and 10 are "Mix (Post EQ Centre/Sub)" ;
    • ASIO inputs 11 and 12 are "Mix (Post EQ Rear Centre L/R)" ;
    these virtual inputs allow tracks output to the onboard Creative DSP Spatializer and main FX and EQ, to be recorded to separate tracks to allow you to add a virtualised surround feel to your stereo mix.
    • ASIO inputs 13 and 14 come from the S/PDIF input on the Sound Blaster Audigy 2 card. This input includes automatic sample-rate conversion, enabling any consumer digital source to be used. (Sound Blaster Audigy 2 always clocks from its own internal sampling clock);
    • ASIO inputs 15 and 16 come from the Sound Blaster Audigy 2 eX Drive Line In 1/Mic In stereo input;
    • ASIO inputs 17 and 18 come from the Sound Blaster Audigy 2 eX Drive Line In 3 stereo input;
    (note that the order and naming conventions of the Asio I/O is subject to change)
    Asio Outputs
    At 16-bit 48KHz, the ASIO driver supports up to 14 simultaneous, sample-synchronous, low-latency ASIO audio outputs, which, as you may have noticed, is more than the number of physical outputs. This is because the ASIO driver can access a number of internal points (virtual inputs and outputs) within the Sound Blaster Audigy 2 hardware environment, as well as the physical inputs and outputs. One function of these virtual outputs is to allow several different signal sources to be routed and/or mixed via Sound Blaster Audigy 2’s internal effects.
    Physically, the Sound Blaster Audigy 2 Platinum eX Card has the following outputs which are all located at the rear of the card:
    Analog
    • Front left and right (rear of the card);
    • Real left and right (rear of the card);
    • Front Centre, Rear Centre and LFE (sub) (rear of the card);
    Digital
    • S/PDIF out - Optical and Coaxial (front and rear of the Creative Audigy 2 eX Drive respectively)
    ASIO can route to all of these physical outputs directly, as long as the host software supports this facility.
    The ASIO outputs are identified as follows:
    • Asio outputs 1 and 2 (Wave/MP3) go via the stereo upmix path, internal to the Sound Blaster Audigy 2 card. Depending on the speaker mode and the CMSS (Creative Multi-Speaker Surround) settings, they may also be output to the rear and centre speaker physical outputs. For example, if CMSS is active and the card is set to 6.1mode, the audio is processed to make it sound more natural and some of the signal is routed to the centre speaker. Furthermore, EAX CONTROL may be used to add effects to the "WAV/MP3" path, in which case whatever effects are assigned there will affect the signals being output;
    • ASIO outputs 3 and 4 (front left/right) feed the left and right output sockets at the rear of the Sound Blaster Audigy 2 Platinum eX card directly. These are the outputs that would be used for most desktop recording work, where the desired final product is mostly a conventional stereo mix;
    • ASIO outputs 5 and 6 (rear left/right) feed the left and right surround outputs on the rear of the Sound Blaster Audigy 2 Platinum eX card directly (when the card is set to 4/5 or 6.1 speaker mode), although these can simply be utilised as an additional stereo pair by software that can access them. They don’t have to be used for surround purposes
    • ASIO outputs 7 and 8 (centre/LFE) feed the centre and subwoofer outputs on the rear of the Sound Blaster Audigy 2 Platinum eX card directly (when the card is set to 5.1 speaker mode), although these too can simply be utilised as an additional stereo pair by software that can access them and also don’t have to be used for surround purposes;
    • ASIO outputs 9 and 10 (rear centre) feed the Rear centre output on the rear of the Sound Blaster Audigy 2 Platinum eX card directly (when the card is set to 5/6.1 speaker mode), although this too can simply be utilised as an additional mono output by software that can access it and also doesn’t have to be used for surround purposes. As Asio outputs are seen as pairs the single mono output which is part of the Centre/Sub/Rear Center triple jack output must be addressed as a stereo pair. Simply pan hard Left when mixing. You will need to arm yourself with a three pole minijack to 3 RCA mono outs cable to make best use of this output.
    • ASIO outputs 11 and 12 (FX Slot 1/2) allow you to send a specific channel from your VST mixer directly to one of the Audigy 2’s EAX hardware effects. 4 effects can be added to the EAX Control panel, and this buss accesses the first two as mono sends. Use your track’s Effects Send Destinations to select “FX Slot 1/2 Left” for Effect 1 (Reverb) and “FX Slot 1/2 Right” for Effect 2 (Chorus). Set the send level in Pre Fader mode to allow you to control the send level independent of the channel’s dry volume. Then use the EAX Control panel to select the required Reverb preset, tweak as desired and then configure the Effect levels under the “Source” tab, with Source set to “WAVE/MP3”. You can then create a new track in Cubasis VST CE with the input set to Post EQ which will allow you to monitor the return signal from the Effect and also record it to that track. This new “wet” effected track can be played back alongside your original dry track.
    • ASIO outputs 13 and 14 (FX Slot 3/4) use the same principle as with Slot 1/2 except that the effects in Slots 3 and 4 are user selectable. A step by step guide of how to use these busses is given below.
    Note that when you select “SB Audigy Asio 24/96” for 24 bit 96 Recording, you will only have access to the 4 Asio pairs which correspond to the analog ouputs on the rear of the card. This, however, is perfect for 6.1 output.
    Above, and a lot more valuable information can be found in online help file called "Music Creation Guide" which can be found @
    - installation path; C:\Program Files\Creative\_your_card_model_\Music Creation Guide\
    - path on original installation CD; \Audio\Setup\GuideBk\ (select language)
    You normally need to use (w/ std Audigy 2 Zs):
    AnalogMix L/R for the Line-In, (Aux-In, analog CDAudio, PC (WUH), TAD)
    Mix L/R functions as "What U Hear")
    S/PDIF In L/R for digital input (use bit-accurate setting w/ this input method)
    Mic In L/R for microphone

    As I said before, this surely is a ASIO host related problem. All available analogue inputs refer to a certain physical input of your soundcard. Here is what to do:
    . Open the "VST Connections" menu and enable the analogue inputs that are related to your Mic In.
    2. Enable as many analogue outputs as you want (enabling "Front L/R" is mandatory).
    3. Create a new Audio Track and set its input to your corresponding Mic In port.
    4. Enable/arm this track for recording.
    5. Check (enable/disable) the Direct Monitoring status of this audio track.
    I believe that it has to do with some audio inputs and direct monitoring on/off ststus, so this procedure should be a solution to your problem.

  • Locking/Protecting cells

    I am new to this forum, therefore I apologize if I cross the rules here as I am sure this has been asked before, however I can not see a search feature on my screen to search past posts.
    I am trying to lock/protect certain cells, rows and columns so that poeple are unable to change them in the template. Is this possible in Numbers? I know how to do this in Excel... hoping there will be a way in Numbers

    Numbers does not have an equivalent feature to cell-locking. The closest that you can come to this is to lock an entire Table. You can get creative and divide input and output between unlocked and locked tables, and you can abut the tables to make them look like a single table. Next best is to protect the formula cells by placing a clear shape over them and locking the shape.

  • Zen MicroPhoto Tag/Menu H

    Hey all, first post. Just bought a Zen MicroPhoto 8GB red and i've noticed something that's bothering me. Sometimes i want to browse within an artist's songs to find a particular one, but not knowing which album its in. However, in the ZMP when i click on an artist all the albums come up and therse no way to view tracks from ALL albums within the artist. Is there a way to fix this, it should be a standard feature in my opinion. It was on my Rio Carbon before i got it stolen and i used it all the time to find a particular track.
    Another note, is it possible to use the ac charger from another mp3 player with the ZMP. BTW it was for the RIo Carbon, same format as I would need for the creative, has a input for the usb cable and plugs into the wall. thanks
    dio

    hello, Before my ZMP froze on me I built up a playlist which seems to be what you need. You need to install the Creative Zen installation CD which allows you to make a playlist so you can listen to all of the songs in your albums.
    Simply install the program, and start media source organizer, and make a new playlist, then go to the songs that you want and select them en-mass if possible (i.e. s hift + click) and right click and select "add to playlist" and select the playlist you created from the drop down menu, or just drag and drop the albums you want onto the playlist so when you go to playlist on your ZMP you can open the one you made which will have all of the songs you wanted together in the same group. I used this with my old MP3 player to shuffle songs, but unfortunately my zen isn't working hence my reason for being on these forums -.-"
    i've tried it on ZMP and it works fine so just AIM me on l3enwang if you have any other questions because i don't plan to check these forums very often.Message Edited by benw on 08-27-2006 0:43 AM

  • Problem recording and playb

    I have an Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro soundcard. I have been using Cubasis to record music with. I was accustomed to plugging my guitar cable and microphone into the input named "Line 2/Mic 2." It worked forever and it recorded fine. After taking a break from recording, I plugged in my microphone, and with all settings up and the "Line 2/Mic 2" input activated on Cubasis, I got alot of feedback and a very faint recording. I went in and saw that the setting on Creative had that input muted. I thought my problem was solved. I turned it up but I still had the same results. I used to be able to plug the mic in and talk through the speakers but not anymore. Any ideas or suggestions?Message Edited by bwbucs23 on 2-2-2005 04:56 AM

    Shadowing,
    This is just a thought as I don't feed guitar into my sound card, but I do use an external mixer. But I'm wondering if you're going over-voltage on the sound card inputs when you crank up the volume on the mixer. SB cards are only meant to take in 2v RMS. What happens if you turn the volume up high enough to cause the crackling and then turn it down very gradually to where the crackling stops? The big question then, of course, is whether it's still loud enough to hear. Like I said, it's just a thought.

Soonas I turn everything up to make it loud its all crackling and distorted. sounds bad, real bad. Any one else have this problem. Also i noticed i had this same problem before I even had the mixer just pluging my guitar into the external amp and recording and it would do that.

  • Recording in only one chan

    I have only an PCI 28 card slotted into my machine, and until today it has served me well. Now I don't know what to do, as it's driving me nuts with the problem it's given me.
    I recently purchased a new turntable in order to start transferring a lot of old LP's over onto my computer, and initial setup was fine. Hooked up the TT to my amplifier's 'record out' and from there to the Creative soundcard's input plug, and found everything was working fine. Even tranferrred a few songs over onto my HD as an experiment just to see that all was okay. That was a couple of weeks ago.
    Last night I decided to actually start getting serious and begin making the transfers I planned, but I've run into a problem. I use Sound forge for the recording, and what seems to be happening is that only the left channel is being picked up by Sound Forge while the other shows a complete blank as far as the recording monitors are concerned. I've played around with everything, checked to see that the system is in stereo and not mono, everything, and I just can't nut out why it is doing this all of a sudden. If I unplug either the left from the back of the amp you can clearly see the sound graph dissapear from the screen, but the right just remains a blank in or out.
    I thought it might have been a software issue with Soundforge and downloaded a trial program and found the same thing was happening with that one, so it seems to come down to an issue perhaps with the sound card and it's software.
    What is odd (and which confirms that there isn't an issue with the amp or TT) is that the desk top speakers hooked up to my computer are happily churning out both channels of music - in stereo! Go figure! The soundcard thus seems to be picking up the stereo signal, and playing it via the computer's speakers, but when it comes to onboard processing of the signal for recording purposes something is happening to the right channel. I have looked everywhere trying to sort out the problem, even looking to see if there's anything amiss with balance controls between the two channels, but I can't find anything amiss.
    I thought the software that came with the card may have been having a fit so I decided to remove it and reinstall - bad move! The disk just kept telling me to wait until it had loaded the software, but all it keptdoing was locking up and doing nothing. For some reason XP's own resident software for removing programs hadn't done anything when I tried unistalling the software, so I'd had to resort to deleting the folder. Because of this I managed to retrieve it from the Trash bin and put it back in place when the installation disk wouldn't reinstall the software for me.
    Does anyone have any clues? I personally think the music I tried put through the system has cursed it - my wife's a Barry Manilow fan (don't even start) and I'd decided to put together a CD of her favorites from all the numerous albums of his that she owns!
    Any thoughts on the computer issue would be much appreciated. All I can think is that a setting somewhere or other has been checked or unchecked, causing the problem. That or perhaps the fact I was trying to install an additional HD to the system a couple of weeks ago has caused some sort of glitch. Beats the heck out of me!

  • Creative I-Trigue 2.1 (3300) Left channel not working

    Just recently purchased the Creative I-Trigue 2.1 (3300) for my boyfriend's gaming station. I have his audio settings set to 2.0 CH speakers, and have the thing plugged into the appropriate hole. The subwoofer works, the right speaker works, but there is no sound comming out of the left. I discovered that the satellite speakers themselves are operational by individually plugging them into the right speaker output line on the back of the subwoofer, but neither of the speakers work when I plug them into the left audio output line in the back of the subwoofer. I have come to the conclusion that the subwoofer is possibly defective.
    Just to rule out any other possible errors on my part, I've tried it on three different computers with the same result. The equalizer settings on all computers are not skewed.
    Please help. Depending on the results I find here, I'll either be going back to the store to have them exchanged for the same product.... or get a refund :womanmad:

  • Changing input without creative

    I want to change e.g. from Line-In to Auxiliary. Is it possible to do this via batch or VB or w/e, just outside of the creative program so I can do it with one click?

    You can do it in Windows mixer (sndvol32.exe) by doubleclicking the volume icon. It's still four clicks tho.
    If you run it from a console with /r the record mixer will come up instead of the play mixer.
    You'll never be able to write a VB to click the right options tho, because the script would need to know the registry names of the inputs which is going to be different for every driver. MS would never expose that.

  • LF a home theater with analog inputs to support my creative x-fi 5.1 card. Budget is 225.

    My card does not support true surround sound in anything other than movies through SPDIF so I need to get a home theater that has analog inputs. Could someone recommend me a good speakers system for 225 or less. I current have a 1000 watt JVC TH-G30 that uses SPDIF. Thanks for any help
    My card is USB is why this is an issue.

    'Re: Creative X-Fi 5. Surround Problem. Hi,
    As far as I know, you can only get stereo audio from the optical output unless you are playing encoded Dolby or DTS audio. See this link for more info. http://forums.creative.com/creativel...&thread.id=270
    For your analog output, it seems strange that your speaker test only have audio in the front left and right but music is ok. Maybe you can try using earphone or something and connect to the rear jack and the centre/subwoofer jack to see if you can hear any audio from them? This may help to check if the problem is due to audio not coming out from your x-fi 5. surround or due to your speakers setup. It should also help to know which version of drivers you are running on. You may also want to try the new beta drivers that was release in Feb just to check.

    I'd give you a stereo adapter, too, since you might want to use the port as line-in. However, you may not be aware that a mono /4" plug fits in a "stereo" /4" jack. The mono plug has no ring, but it has a longer sleeve, which means that the ring contact and the sleeve contact in the jack get connected together, in that case. The same thing is true of /8" plugs and jacks, so the more general /8" female to /4" male adapter is the "stereo,"? three-contact version. If you plug a mono plug into a stereo input, you will ground the right-channel input, which means you will get the left channel, but the right channel signal will be 0 volts and will end up silent. If I were to design a dual-purpose line/mic jack, I'd have to use a stereo jack, but I could switch what I do with the input signals, ignoring the right channel in mic mode, running the left signal through a mic preamp circuit, and sending the preamp output to both channels, so the mic signal is panned to the middle of the stereo field, instead of hard left.

  • Optical Input on Creative Labs Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio PCI-E with Logitech z-5

    So i plugged in my Optical cord into my new sound card the Creative Labs Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio PCI-E and it worked only in the Front right, Front left, Front centre, and the subwoofer. Now i hear i need a external decoder... but then again that my sound card should decode it as well... the place i bought my card recemended a optical cord for my card?with the?speakers i have?(the?Logitech Z-5500) How much are decoders? What should i do next? Creative seams to have limited support especialy on optical inputs.

    I must have answered something like that in another thread sometime ago, but here goes:
    A single SPDIF connection, optical or coaxial, will only transfer stereo in analog form; no rear or centre channels!
    There are two ways you can get all speakers playing via such a connection:
    () Get your speakers to upmix the audio source to play on all fi've of them
    (2) Output a Dolby Digital (AC3) or DTS signal. These contain the multichannel information encoded in the stereo signal. A suitable decoder (such as the one contained in the Z-5500) will be able to analyze the signal. Unfortunately, this is something you can mostly find in movies.
    So, to sum it up, no natural everyday multichannel sound over one SPDIF (e.g. no EAX, directsound3d etc.)
