Creative Labs Zen Micro installation drivers need

This must be the only mp3 player that requires installation on every computer you want to download music files on to. Major pain in the ass, IMO. But if anyone would be so kind as to send me the installation drivers, I would be extremely grateful. I lost the original installation CD and don't want to purchase another one through the Creative site, which I think is really stupid too. That should be free. Other than that minor issue, I love my Micro!!

klsassi,
As OSUScooby mention, all the driver/application you need to sync with the player can be downloaded via the download section within the website. Also, it's definitely not the only player on earth that require driver/software to work with.

My player is stuck on the Creative screen--tried the reboot process and get nothing--is there a way to reboot other than taking the battery out and replacing while holding the on off switch--Please Help!

loading time? do you mean the time it takes to recharge? on USB i think it's around 3-4hrs. i bought the AC adapter recently, i love it. it was around 25$ at walmart and that cuts the charge time by around /2 or so. you can also run it on AC without the battery so it'll last you longer.

• Playlists - CREATIVE LABS ZEN N

Hi,
I` am about to buy a CREATIVE LABS ZEN NANO GB and wants to ask if its possible to create playlists on this mp3 player?

No, unfortunately this player doesn't support playlist. If you're looking for playlist capable player, you can look at the Zen MicroPhoto, Zen Micro, Zen Vision, Zen Vision M,etc. Which other player are you interested in? Post them up and others should be able to advise you along too.

• Creative Labs Zen

I just purchased the C 2GB.
This is in the list of supported player in
http://www.oclc.org/audiobooks/techspecs/devices.htm.
I am using WMP, latest firmware .2.03.
I have downloaded audio books from Netlibrary (protected wav files).
I can open the files in WMP and real player but once I tried to copy the files (sync) to Zen player using WMP and realplayer or just right click copy to Zen, I get an unsupported file type. Same when using the Creative Suite.
I tried looking for others who may have the problem but it seems like noone has the same problem.
MP3 Audio books sync/copied OK.
Any more ideas? (I have a Cowon D2 - synced OK - but it isn't mine)
Please help...or I might just have to return this.

I don't think I have ever seen a DRM WAV file on NetLibrary. I have only seen WMA or MP3 files. Contact them & ask if the file is supposed to be WAV or WMA. Also check that the clock on your player has the correct time & date.

• Creative Zen Micro CD Drivers LOST!!!

I lost my Creative Zen Micro CD for about one and a half year already. Is there anywhere I can download the Media Explorer or the Media Source Organizer? I have downloaded all the drivers and application from the zen micro download links however it doesn't work right. It says it can't detect the mp3 and i don't know what else to do. I really need it bad as i already haven't update my Zen Micro for about one and a half year for now. By the way, I know that I'm not the only one that needs it.
Thanks in advance!!

Updates on my Zen Micro. I tried to do different things with the player by going to recovery mode and accidentally, I press the reload firmware option. I thought that I can upgrade the firmware of my zen micro, however, when I ran the firmware installation i.e Creative Zen Micro PlaysForSure Firmware update 2.2.02 Filesize : 2.32 MB or Creative Zen Micro Firmware ..0 Filesize : 2.03 MB, it said that it could not detect the player, so, there is none firmware in my player. Please, what should I do.. Now, not only i cannot?synchronize my songs, plus, i cannot even listen to the music.

• Zen Micro installation problem - file "data2.cab" neede

Hey
Trying to install my Zen micro software when it says, " Please insert dist that contains the file data2.cab"
I have the installation CD so why is file not on it'sDan

It might be a problem with the CD, but it sounds an odd error to get.
You can of course download the latest drivers and software from the download page for your player, so this is probably the best workaround as well as getting the latest software.

• Creative Zen Micro (Startup Failure) Need URGENT he

Hi, i was on holiday in Singapore about 2 weeks ago, and i bought myself a Creative Zen Micro from one of the local sho
ps.
It worked fine, music played brilliantly, i was happy. However, today when i turned it on, it would display the 'CREATIVE COPYRIGHT' Screen, then followed by 'CREATIVE' in large letters across the screen. It would then freeze on this screen, and the off/on button would soon become useless, which meant that i could either leave it on and kill the battery, or take it out.
When i took the battery out and in again, it would repeat with the 'CREATIVE' sign. Following the 'recovery' methods, i managed to load the screen with all the different options such as clean-up, etc etc. However, when i load any of them up, it would freeze once again and i would end up taking the battery out again.
I have tried the reset button with a pin but that doesnt do anything. I have a spare battery that does exactly the same too. My computer doesnt detect the Zen btw.
I have important documents and almost my lifetime's supply of music that took me almost weeks to rip and store into that Zen. Now that its basically dead, and i bought it in Singapore, i have basically no warranty, i feel as if i have been throwing cases of money into the toilet. I need urgent help, if theres any other ways of restoring access to my Zen.
Check the reviews on a respectable site like amazon.com: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Creative-Zen-Micro-6GB-Player/dp/B000AMR76S
After browsing around forums over the internet, I have found many other people complaining about this, which makes it a MAJOR flaw in the Creative Zens. Screw petty chargers and plugs, get the software right.

The problem you have is very simple, yet complicated to be solved. Your zen's hard dri've is dead. Most of the people who own a zen don't know it has a hard dri've inside. Some mp3 players have flash memory. Chances are that you've dropped your mp3 player. Zen's hard dri'ves are very sensiti've and must not be moved around too much. The way to go in this case is to replace the hard dri've. It is actually a micro hard dri've what you need. Seagate ST 5GB MicroDri've CF Type II. Once you have a new Hd installed you can format it using the zen's menu (remove the battery, hold the power button, place the battery in and wait untill you see the menu) This requires some experience formatting HD's and installing firmware. There is another option. You can buy a Patriot 4Gb Compact Flash Card, and follow what I've described above. The good thing about this is that your zen will take more vibration than the original. The bad one is tha those range from $70 - 99. I hope this hel

I successfully loaded 3.20.72 overtop of MediaSource 2, then loaded 3.20.78. I noticed that they have 3.30.04 listed, but when I loaded it my system didn't appear to update.
I remember their sound card mediasource will only install if you have a creative sound card in your computer. I don't think it will install for people who don't have their sound card.

• FIX: Zen Micro Installer Error - "DemoShield Player has encountered an error.

I just thought I'd post a solution to a problem I was having with the Zen Micro Explorer software installation because it might help someone else. Also, this forum is well indexed by search engines so it will be easy for people to find. It took me well over an hour to track this down.
After starting the Zen Micro Explorer Installer CD, a full screen splash is shown of the creative logo and then DemoShield is started for the software install. It shows an intro screen where you must click 'Next,' on clicking next the DemoShield program was crashing with the generic Windows error "DemoShield encountered an error..." The problem appears to be a software conflict between DemoShield and Apple's QuickTime (any version as far as I know). Disabling the QuickTime startup entry does not help, installing in Safe Mode does not help and exiting any instance of QT in the system tray does not help either.
To fix the problem you must un-install the QuickTime software from your computer by going through the Add/Remove Programs screen in the Control Panel. Once un-installed, run the Creative installer CD again, this time it will run correctly. Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the install.
<i>Please note that if you have installed iTunes on your system it will not run while QuickTime is uninstalled, this is normal. Re-installation of QuickTime is covered later in this post.</i>
When you have completed the install and restarted your computer you can re-install QuickTime. At the time of writing (4th Sept 2005) QuickTime and iTunes are bundled in one download package so you must download both. You can <a href='http://www.apple.com/QuickTime/download/' target=_blank>get the bundle here. Let it download and run the installer. If you already have iTunes installed, the installer will 'Repair' your installation, detecting that QT is missing it will re-install. If you do not have iTunes the installer will installer iTunes and QuickTime.
When you have completed the QuickTime+iTunes install you have got around the DemoShield issue. I hope this of use to anybody with a similar problem.Message Edited by PhilM on 09-5-2005 02:30 AM

Hi Jeremy,
I knew it was an issue with QuickTime because I clicked on 'Send Error Report' on the error message and it took me to <a href='http://oca.microsoft.com/en/response.aspx?SGD=0b73e24-7433-4ee-ac4c-49956d08c85c&SID=623' target=_blank>this page. It states "An analyst at Microsoft has investigated this problem and determined that an unknown error occurred in QuickTime Player. This software was created by Apple Computer, Inc.."
My QuickTime version is 7.0.2. My operating system is WIndows XP Home (Athlon 64; 52Mb RAM)
Eventually I just tried uninstalling QuickTime and it wroked after I did that. Some screenshots: <a href='http://www.phantomphil.co.uk/ZM/' target=_blank>Click
The contents of my disk.id file reads:
Creative Zen Micro

Hope this hel

• Zen Micro - Installation CD error mess

Hello there...
I just bought the Zen Micro today, and as I was attempting to load the installation CD, I received the following error message:
"Exception occurred: Stream write error"

• Zen Micro Installation P

Hi,
I have a Zen Micro and am currently away and would like to play my zen through my friends laptop. However, my installation cd is at home and I can't find it on the download page (unless i don't know what i'm doing !).
Can someone post a link to the installation or point me in the right direction ?\
cheers pezza

Hi Pezza,
You didn't mention which firmware you have on the player, check that first.
If it's version .x - get these files from our Downloads page, and install them in the same order as listed:
Creative Zen and Jukebox Driver Upgrade version .30.03 - JB3MV2_PCWDRV_US__30_03.EXE
Creative MediaSource Player/Organizer 3.30.2 - CMS_PCAPP_LB_3_30_2.exe
Creative Zen and NOMAD Jukebox plugin 2.00.20 for Creative MediaSource - CMS_PJB3_PCApp_LB_2_00_20.exe
If the firmware is version 2.x, then you can get the second file from that list (MediaSource), and get this plugin:
Creative MediaSource Plugin for PlaysForSure devices (version .00.8) - CMS_PCMTP_LB__00_8.exe
And Windows Media Player 0 from Microsoft's site.
You can get all the blue updates from our Downloads page, just select the Zen Micro in the list and it will show you all the files that are available.

• Creative Labs Zen NX Nomad Jukebox and Vi

Hey all- Hope I can find some help here.
I recently got a new system, and it is running Vista Premium. I have an older mp3 player that I got from my brother-a 30GB Zen Nomad NX Jukebox. I have installed all of the (very old)software on the CD that came with it. However, my problem is whenever I hook up my MP3 player, it says that there isn't a driver installed. I have gone on the download page and downloaded all of the driver software and installed it, but I still have this message come up.
When I check it on my computer, it says that my player isn't connected. Any help?

Creative Labs, with their large corporation mindset, apparently decided to pursue an ill-advised Marketing Strategy by not releasing a needed Vista driver for the many thousands of Zen NX players out there. This is no doubt due to GREED, because they seem to want to be selling additional thousands of their more recently released MP3 players.
No good for them. I'm confident a huge base of professional software developers will stop recommending Creative products to their corporate base due to this arrogance . . .

• No Standalone Creative Labs Audigy 2 ZS Drivers Availble for Downl

I bought a new motherboard today and planned on updating my system with the new hardare. I cannot find my Audigy 2 ZS drivers CD and it does not look like there is a standalone driver for this card available on the Creative Labs website.
I have e-mailed tech support and awaiting a response. I have a feeling I will be forced to pay for a new drivers CD in order to get this card to work.
Thet fact that Creative Labs has this lack of support is appalling to me. Nvidia, MSI, Intel and every other component manufacturer in my system has drivers readily available for download on their website. It looks like Creative is trying to profit from the consumer and this makes me sick, very sick.
I am about to throw this card out the window and buy a Turtle Beach.
Creative can also expect a lot of bad press regarding this issue from me.

Ioman,
What's the model number off of the card? Also, could you get the inkstamp number from the underside of the card? This will help identify exactly which model of the card this is. Was this a retail card, or was this originally an OEM?
The reason I am asking this is that if the driver required a previous version of the drivers installed it would have given you an error stating that it couldn't find the required drivers. If it said that it couldn't find the card then it may be different problem altogether. I know for a fact (as I have installed this driver on a bare system before) that the EAX 4.0 Update will install without any other drivers installed (in fact one of the systems at my house is setup like this).
Jeremy
Edit: SB's advice is pretty good also... except I would suggest that instead of doing a manual install via device manager, browse the extracted folder to Audio/Drivers and run the program called CTzapxx.exe (which is the application for manual driver installation). Make sure to disable any Antivirus or Antispyware software prior to running this, as they can interfere in the installation of drivers.Message Edited by Jeremy-CL on 07-4-2005 0:02 AM
