Creative Labs Zen NX Nomad Jukebox and Vi

Hey all- Hope I can find some help here.
I recently got a new system, and it is running Vista Premium. I have an older mp3 player that I got from my brother-a 30GB Zen Nomad NX Jukebox. I have installed all of the (very old)software on the CD that came with it. However, my problem is whenever I hook up my MP3 player, it says that there isn't a driver installed. I have gone on the download page and downloaded all of the driver software and installed it, but I still have this message come up.
When I check it on my computer, it says that my player isn't connected. Any help?

Creative Labs, with their large corporation mindset, apparently decided to pursue an ill-advised Marketing Strategy by not releasing a needed Vista driver for the many thousands of Zen NX players out there. This is no doubt due to GREED, because they seem to want to be selling additional thousands of their more recently released MP3 players.
No good for them. I'm confident a huge base of professional software developers will stop recommending Creative products to their corporate base due to this arrogance . . .

  • Zen Xtra Nomad Jukebox suddenly not recognized by Windows XP Netbook

I'm desperately struggling to get my Creative Zen Xtra Nomad Jukebox MP3 player (version .03.02) to be recognized by my computer. (My background is I'm about 4 hours south of my home, temporarily helping my exwife who is slowly dyiing of cancer... [URL"http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wA67hNO3H4"]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wA67hNO3H4[/url] I have two laptops with me, one with XP (and the other rarely used here with Vista.) My main computer, a Dell Desktop running XP, is back at home with most everything else as I live out of a suitcase and do the best I can.... 'nuf said for my situation)
About 3 weeks ago, I hooked my Creative mp3 player up to my MSI netbook, (windows xp and recently updated with all microsoft updates) and noted that the MP3 player was not being recognized by the computer. When plugged into the USB, my computer gave a 'chirp' and would look for hardware for the player, but ultimately it couldn't find it. The DEVICE page of the SYSTEM menu had the Jukebox listed with the nefarious yellow question mark. Though I don't have a CD drive on this computer, I had a portable drive with most of my software with previousl loaded software archived there, including the installation disc for my MP3 player; but none of the drivers or software that I loaded would make a difference. I download all sorts of drivers & firmware updates from the CREATIVE web site, nothing changed. I would remove all the creative software, reload, reload software, hook up the MP3 player, and.... it would recognize the Nomad player but have no way to incorporate drivers for it's use. Even as I directed it to the original 'CD' copied onto my netbook's desktop, my Windows XP with service pack 3 just couldn't do more than let me know that it couldn't quite recognize the player other than identifying what it was.. I could uninstall the device, the drivers; all to no avail.
My incorrect guess at the time was that something internal to the mp3 player was broken and though I was lucky that it still worked as a player without any issues, I just had no way to access the 30Gb of books & lectures. Nor would the Creative Media Source work with it, as it felt that the player was not even hooked up to the computer. So,I bought a new 'used' identical model on ebay, except that the seller had upgraded the firmware and the harddrive. Once I got the new player, it's too, would not be recognized by my MSI netbook. (though it works on the laptop I have running vista).
Last week I gratefully went home for one day to check my mail and attend to a few matters, and upon hooking my original MP3 player to my main desktop, my original MP3 player immedately docked to my computer and was working as it always had?
Now, atleast, I knew the MP3. player was working and functionally intact, and the challenge was completely computer software issues on my netbook, possibly due to some service pack upgrade or the sort.
I've spent several hours, reviewing all sorts of fixes and maneuvers; from blogs and tech support pages, though none made any difference as I changed various settings or softwares on my netbook. I saw lots about Vista not supporting my old firmware (which isn't an issue as my Netbook is XP.. I also saw that Windows Media player might have been the problem, and reverted to WMP 9, then to 0, though stlll no change.
I have never turned to a tech support board before, but I'm very much in need of assistance right now. Please, if you think you can guide me, I would appreciate it.

Thanks for the reply. I sure wish I had a better understanding of this. I will request one more piece of invaluable knowledge from you! My old zen & windows xp computer hum in awesome performance again. Unfortunately, since I thought my old zen was broken, I'm now with this new beast, with the updated firmware 2.0.03. From what I previously read on Boards and Forum pages, this device shouldn't be connected to my XP computer while I'm still using my OLD zen with old firmware. As you mention in the above note, I connect this 'new' Zen to my Vista computer, & it immedately goes into docking mode. I tried loading the newest firmware available for my device (though it doesn't list vista as compatable), and of course, when the mediasource version 3.30.2 loads, it doesn't have a clue that my zen is connected. Only WMP version seems to pay attention, which may not be that bad. But once I was up & running in WMP, I couldn''t seem to create playlists and or even clearly get it to load the Audio Lectures that I have onto it. So, Wise, All Knowing CREATIVE Wizard, any suggestions what I do? Delete WMP? I will hope never to bother you again, once this is solved!!!
But I am tremendously grateful for the assistance. I only spent about an hour in WMP accomplishing nothing, before I realized I should just turn to you, admit my defeat, and hope for insight and practical advice!!!!!
    Thanks!!!

  • Creative Labs Zen

    I just purchased the C 2GB.
This is in the list of supported player in
    http://www.oclc.org/audiobooks/techspecs/devices.htm.
I am using WMP, latest firmware .2.03.
I have downloaded audio books from Netlibrary (protected wav files).
I can open the files in WMP and real player but once I tried to copy the files (sync) to Zen player using WMP and realplayer or just right click copy to Zen, I get an unsupported file type. Same when using the Creative Suite.
I tried looking for others who may have the problem but it seems like noone has the same problem.
    MP3 Audio books sync/copied OK.
Any more ideas? (I have a Cowon D2 - synced OK - but it isn't mine)
Please help...or I might just have to return this.

I don't think I have ever seen a DRM WAV file on NetLibrary. I have only seen WMA or MP3 files. Contact them & ask if the file is supposed to be WAV or WMA. Also check that the clock on your player has the correct time & date.

  • Playlists - CREATIVE LABS ZEN N

    Hi,
I` am about to buy a CREATIVE LABS ZEN NANO GB and wants to ask if its possible to create playlists on this mp3 player?

No, unfortunately this player doesn't support playlist. If you're looking for playlist capable player, you can look at the Zen MicroPhoto, Zen Micro, Zen Vision, Zen Vision M,etc. Which other player are you interested in? Post them up and others should be able to advise you along too.

My player is stuck on the Creative screen--tried the reboot process and get nothing--is there a way to reboot other than taking the battery out and replacing while holding the on off switch--Please Help!

loading time? do you mean the time it takes to recharge? on USB i think it's around 3-4hrs. i bought the AC adapter recently, i love it. it was around 25$ at walmart and that cuts the charge time by around /2 or so. you can also run it on AC without the battery so it'll last you longer.

  • Creative Lab Zen Dead?

Okay so today I was listening to my zen before I went to school and it was chill and I put it into my backpack. After I get home, I try to turn it on and nothing (battery somehow got fully discharged?). Then I plugged it into my computer and no blue light is coming on so I am very scared like my battery somehow died even though I don't even use this player for more than 2 hours per week. I had a problem like this when I first got my zen and I ended up having to exchanging it (this happened to two earlier zens) but I haven't had a problem like this since I had this one. So any advice?

Is it wise for me, (I li've in Australia), to purchase an as yet unreleased Zen Sleek. In theory it should be okay, but you can never be sure. Windows operating systems and USB connections are uni'versal, but if the Zen sleek requires some sort of outboard charger, I could be in trouble. Any ideas?

Also, when you are charging the battery for the first time, give it at least 6 hours or overnight.

  • Zen Xtra nomad jukebox, harddisk probl

So my player finally crapped out on me for reasons unknown. It worked one day and then went kaput the next! I did a scandisk which did nothing but bring me back to the rescue mode menu v.3, Boot v.2 When I choose format all I get it showing "harddisk problems." I'm guessing there's nothing I can do about this, but I'm hoping I'm wrong. Is it possibly related to firmware? Any help would be obliged!

Yeah now you know it for the next time :P
But anyway you might consider buying a new HDD in your local shop or i-netshop. You just need a 2,5" laptop HDD. A least that worked for me Now I have an unique Zen Xtra. With 00Gigs

  • Creative Labs Zen - Best way to use memory c

I'm thinking on buying a Zen but I am torn between the 32GB and the 6GB version. With the SD Memory Cards not able to interact with some of the regular memory features, how should I best use the memory card? Should I be keeping my playlists (2 of them, 700 to 300 songs in size) on the memory card and the videos that I load on the palyer memory or vice-versa? Can I access shuffle play options when playing songs from an SD memory card?

Need more detail about the test setup. You are saying you need to use LabVIEW RT to interface with your C++ code. Is there are reason you need real-time performance? Usually, if you perform acquisitions of large data sets followed by analysis of that data, you don't need real-time performance because you cannot achieve one anyways. It would be much better if you can get away with LabVIEW and your commercial board installed in the PC. Then, you would interface with your C++ code either by calling exportable library functions through a DLL that you create in C++, or through a CIN.
If you have to use the LabVIEW RT, then I would suggest that you implement your solution (code) completely in LabVIEW RT instead of importing C++. It would be much easier. In that case you need a hardware target, which is running a real-time OS,separate from your development PC. Then you have to check that the driver that comes with your card is supported in LabVIEW RT, and if it isn't, you have to make one to be able to use the card in LabVIEW RT. You see how it adds to the complexity of the system. Not to mention that you would need two PC's (one for development and GUI, and the other for the DAQ hardware and real-time processes).

  • Creative Labs Zen Micro installation drivers need

This must be the only mp3 player that requires installation on every computer you want to download music files on to. Major pain in the ass, IMO. But if anyone would be so kind as to send me the installation drivers, I would be extremely grateful. I lost the original installation CD and don't want to purchase another one through the Creative site, which I think is really stupid too. That should be free. Other than that minor issue, I love my Micro!!

    klsassi,
As OSUScooby mention, all the driver/application you need to sync with the player can be downloaded via the download section within the website. Also, it's definitely not the only player on earth that require driver/software to work with.

I have a Zen Nano Plus but I have trouble with it
    My computer doesn't find him
    What can I do?
    I'm running Windows 98

    Hi Sara,
The minimum system requirements for that player are:
    Microsoft? Windows? 98SE/Me/2000/XP
If you have Windows98 (not SE), then that won't work correctly, it does not have proper USB support.
