Creative media centre and windows 7

Ive just had an upgrade to windows 7 and have reinstalled my creative zen. The installation was no problem but now when i click on the desktop icon then click browse media it opens windows media player instead of the creative media centre. The whole interface has changed and i cant find how to add media at all now, with the old creative centre it was simple you just clicked add media. Not being well up on this stuff i was wondering why i cant accsess the media centre i had with xp, any advice would be most welcome. Thanks very much.

'Hi... I too have a nice old X-Fi and a new PC with Win7Pro. I haven't tried to install the old software on it yet but I have my doubts. I tried to click on the link you posted for the other guy but it took me to a products page.
I already tried accessing Contact Us but it wanted the date I bought my player, etc., and I've had it for years and don't feel like spending time looking for the receipt, etc. I just want to add some new CDs to my music library and then my X-Fi. Thanks.

  • No Playlist Option In Creative Media Centre (Audigy 4 P

Hi, im just looking for an answer to a quick question. Iv'e been using the Creative Entertainment Centre with my Audigy 4 Pro card just recently & im sure it had the option to play playlists that I had created before, but the option isnt there now! Do I need to do something to get this option back? Has anybody esle got this problem? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, ady.

Well I just got an email back from Creative Support and they reccomend I use Windows Media PLayer (or any other of the programs that do work) instead if it works 00%. I seriously hope they update the Entertainment Centre to actually work, I feel I am losing value of my Pro product very quickly as the remote now only has the function of changing the volume, not very satisfactory.
I also feel it's rather ridiculous that they recommend I use another program than Creative's, it's a bit of a cop out, and they should really work on fixing the program soon.
If the remote control could control Windows Media Player 0 when WMP0 is in fullscreen then that would be great, or if the remote control could be changed to be like a media keyboard in that it controls any media application rather than just controls that are visible it would be fantastic. Also if the power button could be altered to start an application then that would be great.
Anyway creative, update the entertainment centre to fix this issue please!Message Edited by CrimsonCleaver on 04-03-20062:6 PM

  • Creative Audigy 2 and Windows Vista: Sound volume turns down when I try to turn it

I have a strange problem with my audio in Vista. I have a Creative Audigy 2 and Creative 6700 speakers. My full system specification is below but please note I did not have this issue in my previous Vista build - its only happening since I did a reinstall. Anyway, when I swich on the speakers using the remote control unit for the 6700 speakers the sound comes on but then it turns down. I have to then increase the volume by a large amount for it to start playing sound again and then turn it down to listening volume. This issue is not application specific - it happens in everything: Winamp, WMP, games, etc etc?I'm using [color="#000000"]Creative Sound Blaster Audigy series Vista Driver 2.2.0002 and I've tried reinstall several times. I've tried doing diagnostic startup etc using msconfig in case something was conflicting and its still happening.

Have you checked the volume button? It might be physically stuck. To determine whether a hardware repair is needed, you need to follow these steps:
    1. Try doing a hard reset:
Press and hold both the Home button and the Sleep/wake button simultaneously for about 15 seconds and release when the Apple logo appears.
After that: test the device to see whether the issue is solved.
    2. If the issue is not solved, you should backup the device and restore it as new.
    In that case, use: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4137
NB: set up as a NEW device because a software issue will be in the backup.
If the issue persists after restoring as new, you should offer the device for service.
If you get specific error messages/codes in iTunes when updating/restoring, check this: http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3694 for causes and solutions
    Good luck

  • What is better creative media source or Windows media player?

Hey I just bought a new Zen player, and I noticed while ripping and uploading songs that the album art does not come along with it if I'm using the creative media source software. Now if I use my windows media player that came with my vista computer I do get the album art. So now my question is if Creative media source can't even do this simple task what is the benefit of using creative's media source? Are there things that it can do that windows media player can't do? Which is a better product to use? :smileyindifferent:angry:

    tapdiggity wrote:
And I guess another benefit to creative mediasource is converting video files for playback on the zen. Windows media player I don't think has a converter for video files for the zen.
That is part of the Creative Media Explorer not MediaSource. The Video Converter is slooow & not that great. I do use the Media Explorer it is better for making & editing playlists.

  • CREATIVE ZEN MICRO and WINDOWS VI

I hope this question has not been repeated.
I have a Creative Zen Micro and have attempted to install it on my current computer that uses Windows Vista 32-bit. However, it was unable to install or find the driver necessary.
I've already looked at the 'driver release plans'?for this product and there is only a page regarding 'Nati've Support', which says 'The MP3 products ZEN Micro, ... require the latest firmware to ensure Nati've Support in Window Vista'.
I've searched for firmware for the Zen Micro on a Windows Vista 32-bit in English, and found nothing.
How can I make this product work with my Windows Vista 32-bit computer ?
    Thank you !!!

    Robby & Lizzy
First of all for a little background information, the problem lies in a problem between Creative's firmware installation program and Windows Media Player . WMP is standard in Windows Vista. As a matter of historical information, Creative has not developed any drivers for Windows Vista, therein the rub; Windows Vista does support the Microsoft PlaysForSure initiati've, and many of the older players like the Micro series does have PlaysForSure firmware available to enable the player to be used in Windows Vista.
Now for an outline of the necessary ste
    ps.
Back up all of the content on your Micro. The firmware that you will install includes a disk format that will erase all of the content and change the way that the disk dri've on the Micro is formatted.
You'll need to find a Windows XP system that does not have Windows Media Player installed. You or the owner of the system should also be knowledgeable in the use of Windows XP System Restore feature so that you can return the system to it's previous state after you are finished with it.
Create a Restore Point on the XP system. Download and install the drivers for your Zen Micro to the XP system. This will enable the player to be recognized by the computer.
Download the PlaysForSure driver for the Micro, V2.2.02, to the desktop of the XP system.
Connect the player to the system with a USB cable and execute the program.
When the firmware installation has completed, the player will reboot. You may disconnect the player. After you have confimed that the firmware revision is correct on the Micro, do a System Restore to put that system back in the condition that you found it.
Connect the Micro to your Vista system and it should recognize the player and install the nati've Windows PlaysForSure driver and pair it with your Micro.

I wanted to download the creative media center, or the creative playcenter. I went through the process of downloads and support and tried to run them on my computer it either says Setup is unable to detect supported product on your system. Click retry button to redirect your device and continue the installation. I've tried clicking retry and and the same message comes up. I have Screenblast Sound Forge . for VAIO and Screenblast ACID 4.0 for VAIO and wonder if thos two audio programs (came with the computer also) are in conflict with installing creative products? The operating system i am using is windows xp media center edition version 2002. Thanks in advance for anyone that can help me.

    Hi All,

Removed some old piece of rubbish card (6MB Aztech PCI 288 Q3D using a Trident 4DWave-NX Chip.... yes about 6 yrs old !) in my daughters pc and replaced it with the new one.

I have 2 WD Live Media Centre devices hard-wired on my LAN. My MacBook can find these devices on the network, but when it tries to access the USB drive which is attached to the media centres, a message says the Mac it "resolving the alias to USB drive", but then says operation can't be completed because the roiginal item (USB Drive) can't be found. My PC, which is also hard-wired on the network, has no problem accessing these USB drives. Is there some adjustment I need to make?

Well, try this (I was able to fix my with these steps):
    Go Utilities > Disk Utility
Select your Startup Disk, e.g. Macintosh HD
Then, under the First Aid Tab, click Verify Disk Permissions.
If there are errors, then click repair Disk Permissions.
After it is done, restart the computer and see if your problem is resolved.

  • Mini as Media Centre and Express to Distirbute

    Hi
I am planning on using my mac mini to act as a media centre, connecting video to a patch panel to send movies etc to tv around the house and airport express for sound.
I intend to house all this in the understairs cupboard with speakers mounted in the ceiling with all the cables (audio and video) running back under the stairs to the amps / patch panel.
My thought is that I can use an aiport express & amp for each room, all housed under the stairs and controlled from my iphone. Does this sound like a reasonable idea to anyone or a waste of time and money and I should look at Sonos or something else? Watching independent video in each room I don't care about but independent music I do.
Is there a limit on the number of Airport Express that will operate in 1 place without interference?
I am looking to use about 6-7 expresses so I can independently control sound in each room. I am assuming each express can stream audio independently, i.e. each room could have a different song playing simultaneously.
    Your thoughts please...
    Thanks

I am looking to use about 6-7 expresses so I can independently control sound in each room. I am assuming each express can stream audio independently, i.e. each room could have a different song playing simultaneously.
In addition to William's comments, although you could have a near unlimited number of AirPort Express Base Stations (AX) they would have to operate on one of three non-overlapping channels so as that they don't interfere with each other. In addition, the practical limit of AXs for streaming is around 4-5 units.
William is absolutely correct in that you cannot stream more than one audio source to multiple AXs; however, you are not limited to just audio from iTunes. Using a third-party application, like Rogue Amoeba's Airfoil, you can stream for a number of audio sources outside of iTunes. However, even Airfoil cannot stream different audio tracks to different AXs.
The reason for all of this is that the iTunes relies on AirTunes to do the streaming. AirTunes, in turn, must first "find" and establish communications with an AirPort speaker (an AX, Apple TV, or using software a number of other devices), before it can stream. If iTunes was capable of playing multiple tracks simultaneously, then it may be possible in the future for it to send distinct streams to separate AirPort speakers.

  • Creative media source and Live!

Does anybody knows what is list of selected cards that can use crossfading in Creative media source?
Why Li've! 5. cannot? Not even EAX?
    Thanks in advance

If you have the newer 24-bit versions of the Li've cards then disregard the following.
Perhaps you've installed some of that updated modded stuff? (I've tried it at times too, but always returned to the official 252 driver/software Uni-Pack stuff.)
The software you've got is not designed for the Li've series of cards. If you used the official cd's for the Audigy 2 series (not ZS), it all works as long as you choose not to install EAX Console and Speaker Calibrator. You should also not install MediaSource Player, choosing instead the PlayCenter 3.02.52 and , on XP, updating it to 3.02.70.
You'll probably need to use the ctcomp.exe (search) on the Audio\language\Setup\Setup.exe file. So you'd need the cd copied to a folder on your harddri've so you can let ctcomp adjust the files.
Then you run AudioHQ and choose to run on startup and load in systray in the options dropdown and use the EAX Control applet to control your effects. The AdvancedEQ effects work as long as you choose the effect, click the ParametricEQ in the center, then tick the volume slider tab with your mouse, exit and save. You need to do this everytime you apply an effect.
Or, you can install the U-UPAX stuff which has been modded (driverheaven forum for links). I believe MediaSource works with their setup.
I'm telling you though, your card will not give you any extra stuff it is not hardware designed to provide. So, you still only get EAX and 2, no Advanced HD EAX 3 or 4.
And, the sound quality for music is superior with the official 252 Li've Uni-Pack setup. Unless you like overwhelming, booming bass and the midrange missing sounds. Those updated Audigy 2 and up drivers may have settings and files for the Li've, but they are tuned for the Audigy 2 and up.
The 3 best optimizations made for the Li've were the old Li'veware 3.0 vxd drivers, the APS mod for the Li've (both for 9x), and the kXProject drivers (for XP). By far the most problem free software package was the Li've Uni-Pack. And it sounds okay.
So there you go. Now, if after you uninstall whatever you've got, the setup file of the package you select doesn't say "No SoundBlaster hardware installed" you'll be lucky. Modern Creative drivers oftentimes remove something when uninstalled that messes up the hardware detection and if installing with CTZAPP doesn't magically let the software setup recognize the card again then only a format will fix it.

  • Media Centre and Networking with TimeCapsule

    Hi
I am looking at buying a mac mini as a desktop and also to probably use a media centre also at some point in the near future. I am also intending to get a macbook to use as a laptop / replacement for mini as and when I use it as media centre.
Given I will have 3 computers on the go if I keep my currently old Imac running, I was wondering on the best way to keep everything nicely shared. This is where I thought to use the TimeCapsule to store all the files I am likely to share across the 3 computers.
Is this a good idea or are there superior alternatives to using a TimeCapsule as a 'server'? Are there issues in programs such as iTunes on each machine mapping to 1 shared source for the file?
If this approach is a good one, is it worth my money / effort in getting the 320gb HD or even installing a 500gb 7200rpm HD in the mini if the majority of storage will take place on the TimeCapsule?
Given the sort of use I have in mind for the mini, would I notice the difference if I went for the 2.26 processer and better graphics card?
Think that is all for now, but may be back. Thanks in advance for any guidance.

which iMac do you have, how big is the drive? could you plug in an external drive & ethernet cable from the iMac direct to router? if so, this would save on the TC.

Try it with the iMac first.

You can only have 1 system which can have the iTunes library open directly at any given time. if iTunes is left open on the iMac 24/7, you can then see it as a shared library. iTunes 9 is suppose to be even better with this.
Given the sort of use I have in mind for the mini, would I notice the difference if I went for the 2.26 processer and better graphics card?
for the cost, not sure the .26 is that much of an upgrade. the graphics are NOT upgradeable, you only have the 9400.
also, with the price drop & hacks available, you could pickup an AppleTv instead. it would still talk to the old imac with the library.

You can use a PC to transfer info between the PC and the media card.
Basically you will attach the USB to the BB and the PC. Don't use desktop

Then you can "drag and drop" files to the BB.

    Encryption mode NONE
Media transfer protocol ON (Storm and Bold only)

  • NAS files, Offline, Sync Centre and windows 8.1

    Hello,
I can't believe how difficult it is to locate an essential feature of windows xp and 7 in Windows 8.1! My shiny new 8.1 machine has mapped a folder on a NAS device to its P: drive. This folder is used by a couple of other machines in my small network (both
W7) and they have made the folder "available offline" as they need to be able to access the files when away from home. This works fine and files are synchronised on return to the office.
I cannot find any way to "make the folder available offline" with my 8.1 machine. Sync Centre (in the control panel) wont allow me to create any "partnerships". The nearest I can get to this functionality is SkyDrive but that's not what
    I need.
This has GOT to be a common requirement, surely? Am I missing something?
    Many thanks
    Stuart

    Hi Stuart,
Which version of Windows 8.1 are you running? Is it the base version of Windows 8.1 or the Enterprise version? Concurrently, which version of Windows XP and Windows 7 are you running? If I am correct in the my thinking, I would guess that you are currently
running the professional version of Windows XP and Windows 7. To the best of my knowledge, Sync Center does require Windows Client to be at the Professional level edition or higher. According to
this Sync Center FAQ from Microsoft the ability to sync with network folders will not work with Home Premium editions which is equivalent to the standard version of Windows 8.1 I can confirm that Sync Center and offline files does indeed work in Windows
8.1 Professional as I am using Windows 8.1 myself and just performed a local test.
If you were to upgrade to Windows 8.1 Pro by purchasing the Windows 8.1 Pro Pack you will gain quite a few features such as the ability to join a domain. Check out
this page from Microsoft to compare the features each edition of Windows 8.1 offers
    I hope this helps!

  • Creative Zen V and Windows 7?

    CHi there,
I'm just bought a Creative Zen V 4MB and am having problems with installing it. I'm using Windows 7 and now realising this could be the reason why!? Is there a driver that will work with Windows 7? The installation from the CD partly worked, but I got lots of error messages during installation to say contact customer support (will post exact message if this helps),
    Thanks for your help,
    Louise

    Hello,
Thanks very much for your quick reply.
Yes I bought the player on Amazon Marketplace - unfortunately I bought the player new so I didn't realise that it was discontinued and there wouldn't be any official support for it. Also the reason I bought a new player was because after I upgraded to Windows 7 my old Zen Micro wouldn't work with it so I seem to have the same problem now :/!
I have connected the player again and it is recognised and I can transfer files across from my computer. The problem seems to be with the media explorer - when I try to open this up the computer hangs. Is there any service pack or file you can point me in the right direction of which may fix this?
    Thanks for your help,

  • Creative Media Player vs Windows Media Pla

    Hi
Don't know if this subject has been covered before, but is there technical / quality differences between those two softwares ?
I read that Windows Media player was not that good for sound quality for instance.
Personally, i use both, more or less randomly, and i don't hear any differences.
The only thing i could say against Creative player is that sometimes he react a little bit slowly when browsing files.
    Any ideas ?

Well wmp is one up on creative big time. m4a is the most uptodate complient standard for streaming audio. It also has a wider range for frequency. Being the top notch sound gurus these guys are..... I would get on making a plugin codec (with tag reading). Ive lost a small chunk of change when I first started buying the audigy 2's for system building.... People phoning me up complaining that half thier music does not work. Being the smart minded business man I am I dri've all over the place, to teach people?computer lessions. I even returned the zens?my wife and myself?bought.... Becuase of this codec. The Scandisk was cheaper... Bigger screen. More then 2 colors. Also had a larger harddri've. Oh..... Codecs..... Lots of codecs.... It can play everything. My old car cd player played all codecs... My dvd player plays every codec. Dont get me wrong here... Creative's equipment.... AMAZING!... Creative software developing...... Well, my mom told me; "If you dont have anything thing nice to say, then dont say it at all."?Now I wont buy creative products till they have a plugin. Common guys a plugin........ I am sure most people who would like to use Media souce would love a plugin. About the licenscing... If a small company can afford the licenscing, Im sure creative can. There is a private group that did the plugin for windows media player. Im sure creative can figure something out. I think... that the only time licencse come into effect is when you sell a device with media on it that is encoded with m4a. I could be wrong there.
