Creative Media Toolbox 6 prob

This is a problem I had when I first installed it on my machine running XP and now again with XPx64, so it wasn't related to the OS (I hope).
It installs OK, but when I try to run it, the splash screen comes up, then the 4 options "create? enhance? organize convert" show up, but if I don't choose one of them in about .2 seconds, it won't let me do anything and I have to close it and try again. And even if I am able to choose one of those and access one of the sub-options, once I exit that activity and the main menu comes up again I can't choose anything from it. It pretty much freezes up, but can be closed without any more trouble.
Any ideas? Or just another one of Creative's piss-poor installations?

I experienced this persistent problem as well. I tried installing the latest FlashPlayer a couple of times via IE7, to no effect.
Then I noticed this thread: http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/view...n_966&sliceId=
I downloaded the uninstaller and ran it, as advised here: http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/view..._457&sliceId=2
Then installed it again. This time it worked, Media Toolbox 6 could be installed without any further problems.

• Creative media toolbox installation prob

I have just purchased the media toolbox as i want to rip cds to mp3 and the creative website says i get the free mp3 audio pack with it. However when i start the install setup it wants to update the adobe software and after i have updated the adobe software i run the install again and it wont go beyond the adobe part. i am with the elite pro on vista 64 on an intel quad with 4 gb of ddr2.
I am getting disheartened with this i expected full functionality and an easy install.
any help would be welcome from either creative or a forum member.
regards

All seems to be ok now. I downloaded the softwarre again last night, this time on a different dri've, and all the programs seemed to download fine. I am now in the process of transferring tracks from my old Jukebox Zen to the new Zen Vision M. I did still have the old Creative software installed, so perhaps this is where the problem came from? That is all I could really come up with if someone else encounters the same error messages. Anyway, all is working fine now. I can't seem to get the album artwork to appear, but one thing at a time, and there seems to be a lot of information on the forum about this problem. Peter

Hello,
Recently purchased SB X-Fi HD USB with Media Toolbox 6. X-Fi HD running fine but haven't tested all inputs and outputs.
When activating Media Toolbox 6, I get this error message "An error ocurred while trying to obtain a valid Activation Key from the Internet (error 3)"
Already disabled firewall and tried downloading software from Creative site instead of disk but still get the same error.
Also sent this to Customer Support 7 days ago but still no response.
Thank you for the help.

• Problem Normalizing VBR MP3's, Creative Media Toolbox 6, Zen 3

Anybody else using Media Toolbox 6 to normalize MP3's? Ripping with Media Explorer at max quality VBR then normalizing? with Media Toolbox 6. More often than not the size of the normalized track is a fraction of the original and consequently terrible quality (eg. down from 7 meg to meg). Sometimes it is only one track on an album, while the other tracks are all smaller by anything from a few k to a meg or so, but doesn't appear to affect the quality. More often than not the whole album will be affected.
I have tried normalizing with CBR ripped MP3's and there doesn't seem to be a problem.
Does anybody have any idea why this is happening?
I know I should just give up, accept the software sucks and re-rip and normalize the albums in question at CBR, but I hate giving up (and I paid for the ****ed software!).
I've been in contact with support but they insist I'm the only person who has ever mentioned this problem (therefore it must be me causing the probelm, not Creative software), and keep advising me to re-set the player and re-install the firmware etc. I've told them there is no problem with the player but they don't appear to be reading my emails.

My advice to anyone that cares about their music and mp3's, the only decent program that works without problems, does what it says and doesn't corrupt your files is MP3Gain and guess what...... it's 00% freeware !!
I've been using it since 2004 never had a problem and it's very simple to use, don't bother with anything else get working files and save your cash !!
Here is the link:? http://mp3gain.sourceforge.net/
MP3Gain does not just do , as many normalizers do. Instead, it does some to determine how loud the file actually sounds to the human ear.
Also, the changes MP3Gain makes are completely lossless. There is no quality lost in the change because the program adjusts the mp3 file directly, without decoding and re-encoding.

• Creative Media Toolbox 6.02.01 install probl

Just wanted to ask if anyone has had any problems with Media Toolbox 6.2. not installing correctly? I have downloaded it about 4 times, and tried installing it about 9 times, and it still does not appear. I have got the correct version of Flash installed, and Creative tell me the download file is for both XP and Vista..But thats about ALL I can get from them, apart from just telling me to re-download and re-install.. I even treid a re-install after cleaning out the registry of all creative files after deleting the program. Does anyone have any suggestions, or work-arounds?
Thanks
Dennis

• Creative Media Toolbox 6 Probl

I have bought and installed the above product but have yet to get it to work on my dual core PC running XP SP2. I have made sure that I have the most up to date Adobe Flash installed but all I get when I click the short cut is the image of red sphere and no Flash implementation runs from the start up screen.
I have removed and reinstalled I don't know how many times now but have failed to get any use from this piece of software. It's very disappointing and frustrating. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

• Creative Media Toolbox, should I use it?

Okay, so I installed Creative Soundblaster X-Fi Titanium awhile back and noticed that there is a game mode vs. an entertainment mode. After doing some research I found out that there is some software that allows me to switch between these without necessarily having to go directly into the sound card settings manually to do so. So my question is as follows: Does anyone know if the settings change between entertainment and game mode automatically? If not, do you think I should use it? I ask because I am setting up my computer again and want to know some of the more complicated ins and outs for the sound card (note: I am not exactly a noob at computers, just with sound cards). So if anyone could give me some information, it would be greatly appreciated.

I think the modes will not switch automatically as that is case for my X-Fi Go! Pro. I just use one of the modes and adjust the Surround and Crystalizer effects to the level I want.

• Creative Media Toolbox

hello. I am having problems using this software. I am wanting to use the equalizer section but I'm not able to add music.
I clicked on music file then music but it only shows the file where the music is stored: It does not open further so that I can add individual tracks. Same thing with all the other sections of the program. It simply does not see my music files.

• Creative Media Source Prob

Whenever I transfer albume to and from my Zen V Plus, Media source insists on adding the album title to the song name. This makes very long titles which can't be easily read in the Zen V. I have tried a number of transfers, and media source always appends album names to song titles. Is there a way around this, or is this Creative Media Source bug. It's a real pain to have to edit every title on every transfer. Thanks for any clues. My Zen V firmware and Media Source software are up to date.

Which mediasource did you download? I believe you have downloaded the mediasource installation mean for their MP3 player and that's why you cannot install. Their sound card mediasource don't have any standalone installation as far as I know. If you need, you will need to install the mediasource from your installation CD. If you don't have the installation CD, you can download the ISO CD image here.

• AVG detects trojan in Media Toolbox 6

Anybody have this problem?
Predictably Creative have denied this could possibly happen. AVG insist the trojan is there.
I'm assuming that it is some benign aspect of the software is causing a false positi've alert. As it stands you can't have both AVG and Media Toolbox installed and working.
Neither company appear to be at all bothered to address and resolve the issue. Ho hum.

Problem solved. The uninstall worked in Safe mode.

• Media Toolbox: Where can I download

Hi,
I just got a Zen MicroPhoto and really need some cleaning up to do on my ID3 tags. I dont have a working cd player so I can not install the software on the CDs that came with the player so I dont know if the media toolbox is on those CDs or not.
What I did do was go to creative.com and download all the possible things that I could there but none of it included the media toolbox. Any suggestions?
Thanks!

Yoav then I would recommend verifying your current serial number is registered.  This would then qualify you for upgrade pricing for Creative Suite 6 or the Creative Cloud.
I reviewed the links available at Download Adobe CS5 Free Trials – All Direct Links without Akamai | ProDesignTools but it does not appear that Hebrew is available.  If you are unable to locate the installation media then I would recommend a Creative Cloud membership, with the reduced pricing for owning Creative Suite 5, or purchasing Creative Suite 6.
You can find information regarding the upgrade pricing of Creative Suite 6 at Creative Suite 6.
For more information regarding a Creative Cloud membership please see Software and services for creative professionals | Adobe Creative Cloud.

• Media Toolbox Quest

I've used a lot of auto-taggers, and honestly, have found Creative's Media Toolbox to be the most dumbed down, simple, no bells and whistles, no non-sense auto-tagger.
Does a great job 50% of the time.. actually, the program itself works great, but here's my problem.
I already have the artist's name in all my tags.
When I run Toolbox, often times, it auto-chooses from it's on line source, tag info which omits the artists name.
If it does leave in the artist's name, often time, it chooses the "greatest hits" or similar selection.
If I don't like it's selection, I'll click the "other options link" ... the choices listed varie by who entered the info into the database, but the one that usually contains the corrent album, year, track number, etc will not have the artist's name listed.. I end up typing in the artist's name since all the other info is correct.
Any idea if it's Gracenote that is missing the artist data and the more obvious/correct choice?
It really makes no sense. The "right choice" is rarely if ever listed.. ie correct artist, album, year, track number, etc. The closest choice is usually always missing one piece of the puzzle.
More than likely, it is Gracenote's database..
I just don't get it.......
Thanks.

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
The further information area has direct links to the current and recent builds in case you have problems downloading, need to revert to an older version or want to try the iTunes for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) release as a workaround for performance issues or compatibility with third party software.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
