Creative MediaSource version 3.00

Where in loving hell do I find this update so that I can update to the latest. I just redid my system and have what must be an old Audigy 2 ZS driver disk because I have Media Source Go! Version 2.00.06 or something like that and I need to update to the latest one posted on Creatives site. Please tell me Im missing something obvious here because If I have to download the ISO that some guy posted on some flea bag website just so I can get this piece of software then Creative can go **bleep** themselves. I appreciate that this fellow did this for the folks here but if this is infact the only way to get this older driver thats ridiculous. Ive been 5 hours looking all over the Creative site and web for this **bleep** update. I cant believe its not offered here...in this day and age and with the $$$ creative has made over the years there is no WAY it can be like this. I must have missed something. Someone please help me and point me in the right direction
Emerson

I have this : Media Source Go! Version 2.00.06
I need this : Media Source Go! Version 3.00.6
So I can goto this : Creative MediaSource Go! 3.0.5
I cant make it any simpler than that. As for the language, I have been looking for this software for going on 5 hours now since I redid my system. I have NEVER had a problem getting the drivers/software updates from ANY decent conpany before and I hope that is not whats happening now. Its going on 4am here, Im tired and **bleep** grumpy. The time i've wasted on a what should have been a SIMPLE sound card install borders on criminal.
Wating for your reply...

I have a creative Zen Micro 5GB and when I transfer music over creative mediasource version 5.0.27 the files take forever to transfer or they don't transfer at all. I can't update the softwear to the new version of creative mediasource 5, my computer and player wont let me. Is there anything I can do to make my music transfer faster.
*I updated the firmware on my Creative Zen Micro.

Battery cunsumption is also the biggest problem for me ...... 7hrs of music over 4 days is not good (with or without the headphones connected) I will try this new firmware and see if it improves things.

  • NOMAD Explorer and Creative MediaSource cr

Is anybody experiencing this frustrating problem?
I recently purchased a Creative Nomad Zen Xtra and installed the included software (drivers, Creative MediaSource and Nomad Explorer) on a Toshiba M200 notebook. My Creative MediaSource version is 2.02.06. I'm running Windows XP Pro SP.
When I plug in my Nomad, Windows detects the device just fine.
When I run MediaSource, everything looks good. I can see PC Music Library, My Computer and NOMAD Jukebox Zen Xtra in the left Sources pane. When I click on the NOMAD icon in sources, then on Music Library, all the music on my Nomad shows up in the right pane.
By the way, so far I've been using Windows Media Player to transfer my music files to the Nomad, no problem. The reason I started using MediaSource is that I want to create playlists for my Nomad, and I can't seem to find a way to create or transfer playlists themselves using Windows MP.
Here's the problem. Whenever I click (left or right mouse button--it doesn't matter) on one of the music files shown on my Nomad, MediaSource crashes. If I run Nomad Explorer, the same thing happens when I click on a music file located in the right pane (file is located on the Nomad), except here Windows Explorer crashes, of course.
I tried upgrading my Creative software to get the latest version of everything, but the same crash keeps occuring. I've tried uninstalling, reinstalling, etc, but nothing seems to work. In total frustration, I installed the Creative Software on a different Toshiba notebook (also running Windows XP Pro SP). On that machine, the old version of the software (from my CD) works just fine! However, I really can't use that system for my music.
Does anyone have any idea as to what might be causing this crash? This consistent bug is preventing me from doing anything useful with music files on my Nomad using the Creative Software.
    Thanks,
    Joe

    Thanks for the information.
Yes, I did try upgrading ALL of the Creative software on my notebook, including the driver. That did not solve the crash problem. At that point, I tried uninstalling all Creative Software, rolled back my system to the state before I installed any Creative software (using WinXP System Restore), and reinstalled the original Creative software. The problem remains. I guess I could try rolling the system state back again, but then install only the latest version of the software. I don't know. At this point I am flailing and I am thinking there is no way to make this stuff work on my computer.
An alternati've route is this: Is there any other software I can use to create/manage playlists on my Nomad? If Windows Media Player 0 can do it, I would be thrilled. It seems pretty solid, as far as I can tell.

  • Creative Mediasource for Creative Zen (2-38

    Hey everyone,
I am well aware that the current version of Creative Mediasource is not available for the Creative Zen. Now I figured that eventually they would make a version compatible with the Zen. I'm currently up to my 3rd Generation of Creative Mp3 players (from Zen Touch to Zen Vision: M to Zen 32 gb ), and I constantly used Creative Mediasource to edit the track information, usually the genres which awere so totally confused (Hip Hop should never be associated with Country :S). However, now that the Zen operates through Windows Media Explorer, instead of being able to select whole cds and right clicking them to 'edit genre', I now have to individually select each song and rewrite the details.. this could be a problem in the near future; I just got my mp3 player last tuesday, and though right now i'll manage, my media database is a little off in terms of assortment, and editing 600 tracks manually seems to be a rather tedious task >.< So, my question is(are):
When (if they ever decide to do so) will a Creative mediasource version for the Creative Zen be released?
Is there a faster method that I'm unaware of to edit the tracks?
I did take the time to look through the forums before I wrote this, taking the precautions by searching for Creative Mediasource, Creative Mediasource Zen flash, etc. Thanks in advance!

Well, I usually avoid Windows Media Player because the computer I use is also used by the rest of the family, and every once in a while it chooses to autosync music onto my Zen.. but if you say it's useful to edit multiple ID3 Tags (so that's the official name for them, oh..), i'll give it another try. And I'll try MediaMonkey too, because it sounds like the program was made specifically to make ID3 tag updating easier.
    Thanks for all your help!

  • Creative MediaSource - AudioSync Lo

I have a Nomad Jukebox 3 and recently got a new computer and installed Creative MediaSource version 2.03.29 on it. On my old computer this application had an essential feature called 'AudioSync' which would keep the music on my computer in sync with the music on my Jukebox. Now I have installed it on my new computer this feature seems to have dissappeared although it says it should exist for this version of CMS. Can anyone advise me please?
I seem to remember it having a tab under 'settings'?

Thanks for replying but it doesn't help me...
Firstly the disk that comes with JB3 only has Playcenter 3 and Creative FileManager. It doesn't come with MediaSource. And secondly have a look below at what I have installed - it clearly states "provides AudioSync 2"...

  • Creative MediaSource doesnt recognize Nomad Zen X

    Hello,
I'm using the latest Creative MediaSource Version 3.30.2 and when I plug in and turn on my Nomad Zen Xtra it isn't recognized/listed in mediasource (however windows detects it, the latest drivers are installed and nomad explorer also detects it). What can I do to get MediaSource to recognize my player?
    Thanks...
    Foochuck

Did your previous MediaSource detect your Zen Xtra?
For MediaSource to detect your Zen Xtra, you need to install the MediaSource plugin for your Zen Xtra. It should be available from your product CD. Alternati'vely, you may download the following plugin from the product download site:
NOMAD JukeBox Type 2 Version .0.03 (English) Web Release
I am not sure whether the plugin in your product CD is newer than the one in the Web download. Do visit the Web download regularly for new updates to MediaSource and the plugins.

  • Uninstall Creative MediaSource (CMS) 3 after installing CMS

I just installed Creative MediaSource (CMS) 5. After installing, I noticed in the Add/Remove Programs window that Creative MediaSource (version 3) was still on my machine. I did not see any instructions saying to remove version 3, before I updated to version 5. In Add/Remove Programs, there are two choices for uninstalling CMS 3:? Remove, or Remove All. Which should I use to remove CMS 3? I am *assuming* CMS 3 is no longer required on my machine, since I upgraded to CMS 5. Please advise proper uninstall procedure for CMS 3 (after CMS 5 has been installed). Or...do I need to uninstall BOTH, then REINSTALL version 5?Thanks very much.

Never mind.... Problem solved.? I decided to roll the dice, and chose Remove for CMS 3. Everything in CMS 5?continues working just fine, after uninstalling the CMS 3 totally. And, I also deleted all the downloaded installation files in C:\Program Files\Creative\Software Update\cache\, with no apparent negati've effects. Also deleted skins, no problem. If worse comes to worse, I can uninstall CMS 5, then reinstall it...but for the time being, all is well.

  • Trouble with Creative Mediasource

I'm using the latest driver (2.0.00) And Firmware (2.0.03), and CMS5 5.0.38, with the plugins for Zen and the PlaysForSure. My system us Windows XP, SP2, and I meet the minimum system reqs for the program.
Since "upgrading" to Creative MEdiasource 5, I've run into several problems, perhaps all interconnected.
--Mediasource takes an incredibly long time to load my Zen (40 GB Zen Xtra), upwards of 3 minutes. This took only a few seconds in previous versions. This is present when connected through my front, back and USB hub ports.
--Mediasource will rip a CD incredibly slowly. If I try to transfer more than one CD (That is, one, the procedure ends, and then start up another), I will get an error message and MEdiacsource will shut down.
--Sometimes, the window itself will disappear, and I will be unable to access it. This has happened a couple of times instead of the previous problem. The process will still run, but I will be unable to reload it, and trying to forcibly end the process (Task Manager) seems not to work. This also happens sometimes when I browse away from my Zen (Say, to a CD or file on my computer), and come back to my Zen.
I tried using my prior version, but it doesn't recognise my Playsforsure device at present, and I'm not sure if it's even possible to alter it.
Is anyone else having a similar problem? I loved Mediasource prior to this version: It was a sleek, easy and intuiti've interface and covered almost all of my Organisation needs. I did check the boards, but I may have missed a similar problem. I'm wondering if this is an issue that people have a solution to.
    Any help's appreciated.

    Hello:
I have formatted the player using the recovery menu as well as with WMP, because both are the recommended and "only" ways to format, depending on who you listen to. No difference, however in the way WMP behaves. When I get to the point where WMP can only sync a small few files, if I do a Cleanup (from rescue mode), let the Nomad rebuild the library, I can usually get more files in before it clogs up again. Every time I do a fresh format, I lose a couple of days worth of work, so I'm not doing it again.
I don't have any way to control how much of the library to synchronize once it has gotten past my playlists, unless I spend time creating more playlists for this purpose. With a 60 G Nomad, and a library suitable for that storage, that's a TON of music to deal with.
I'm still trying to figure out whether this is a Windows Media Player issue, a driver issue, or a Nomad firmware issue. Since I have to reset the Nomad between each sync attempt, and occasionally do a cleanup, I'm guessing it's the Nomad, and since I've seen it on more than one unit, I'm guessing it's a firmware bug.
I'm hoping someone else has seen this issue and has a better idea. I hate all my choices: Notmad is frustrating because I can't get my playlists to come across. Creative Media Source is less reliable than WMP, so that leaves WMP as the least aggravating way to sync, and it works flawlessly with my smaller sized Sansa Clip from the same library.

  • Creative Mediasource Organizer Losing Year T

I use Windows XP, Creative Mediasource Organizer version 3.30.35 and my player is a Zen MicroPhoto 8G. I have over 4000 MP3 files organized with id tags in Creative Mediasource Organizer. These are almost exclusivly?MP3 files that I recorded myself. Of the 4000 files?there are only a handful, just?one album that could possibly find tag information?to pull from the internet. Yesterday,?more than?200 of my mp3 files?had blank?year tags. I entered the correct year in several dozen of these so that only about 65 had blank year tags. Then I closed the software and turned of my computer. Today I opened Creative Mediasource Organizer to work on filling in those blank year tags. There were over 400 blank year tags today. What is happening? I have PC Music Library open. I select a single file, right click, click properties, click tag information, enter the year in the year field, click OK. Then I right click and select "update tag" click "yes" to confirm that I want the changes to apply to the file itself and not just to the PC Media Library. Please, someone help me understand why?the number of blank year tags is growing instead of shrinking? What can I do to retain the information I enter in these tags?

YESTERDAY:?Monday March 2, 2007:?I edited my media library from within Creative MediaSource so that there are no files without a valid year in the year tag. For?each MP3 file the other standard tags also contain meaningful data. These are?title, artist, album and?genre,?but not track. I don't see any practical way to use the track field for some of these files, so not all of them have a track number. The files I want in my media library are all the MP3 and WMA files within C:/MP3 and it's subfolders. The properties of C:/MP3 as viewed from "My Computer" are 3922 files and 249 folders. About a dozen are WMA files and one is a text file. All the others are MP3 files. The problem is that?there are quite a number of duplicate entries. And the Media Library is reporting several hundred more files within C:/MP3?than "My Computer" is reporting there.
I used "Tools/Settings/PC Media Library/ Delete invalid entries" but it did NOT remove the duplicate entries. Exiting the program and opening it again did not correct the count either. So I selected ALL the files, right clicked, and selected "update tags." I clicked YES to update the tag data from the media library to the files. When that operation was completed, I deleted all the files from the library but not from the computer. And?now I am?importing all the files within C:/MP3?back into the library. It says "now transferring 859 of 3920 files." This is good! 3920 is very close to 3922 minus the one text file. I want to see if, when this transfer is finished, I will have the correct number of MP3 files in my media library, and I want to see if the tag data, including the year data, remains?intact after this transfer. The transfer is complete. I do have 3920 files in my media library now and the data in the id tags appears to be intact. Hopefully, this will still be the case when I open the software tomorrow. THE NEXT DAY:?Tuesday, March 3, 2007: Grrr! I now have 3950 files in my media library where it should be only 3920. I did not add anything ?or make any edits. Exactly 30 of these entries?have blank year fields. I'm thinking that Creative MediaSource is NOT?loosing the data in year tags as I first thought, rather it's ADDING entries that are identical to existing entries except that the year fields in the added entries are empty. I think that if I enter the correct year data, I will end up with 30 entries that are truly exact duplicates. I don't see a pattern or clue to tell me why these 30 and not the others ... they have different artists, different albums, genres and the data in the missing year fields was not all the same. In the track fields, a few are blank, but most of them have data. "Tools/Settings/PC Music Library/Clean up now" did not elimiinate these 30 extra entries. Looking at the properties of C:/MP3 from "My Computer" still shows 3922 files (one is a text file) ... From my experiments yesterday, I am pretty sure that I can delete these 30 extra entries and be left with valid entries for all my files. This is frustrating. I'm hoping that these observations will be helpful to a programmer working on the next version of Creative MediaSource. I would send these comments directly to them, but they don't seem to provide a way for me to do that.

  • Creative MediaSource won't recognize my Zen Micro all of the sudden!! What is going o

When I first began using my Zen Micro, Creative MediaSource worked fine. I could start my player and it recognized it right away. Then I was told I had to update my firmware and download an update to MediaSource. I did both but shortly thereafter I started having problems! Primarily, when i plug in my Micro a window pops up where I have 3 options, none of which are Creative MediaSource. The window has "MTP Media Player" across the top bar, but i havn't a clue what the "MTP" stands for. The 3 options given are "Sync your music using Napster", "Synchronize media files to this device using Windows Media Player", and "Take no action". I initialy tried "Take no action" and then opened MediaSource only to find it didn't recognize my Micro any more. I then e-mailed Creative for help and got a reply telling me to.............
Thank you for contacting Creative Technical Support.
In regards to your issue, you can try uninstall and reinstall
    MEdiaSource with these procedures.
. Click START -> RUN -> type MSCONFIG and click OK.
    2. Click SELECTIVE STARTUP and then uncheck LOAD STARTUP GROUP ITEMS.
    3. Apply the changes and reboot the computer when prompted.
    4. Uninstall MediaSource from the system using ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS.
    5. Manually delete the MediaSource folders from the computer system :
    C:\PROGRAM FILES\CREATIVE\MEDIASOURCE
    C:\PROGRAM FILES\CREATIVE\CTCDDB
    C:\PROGRAM FILES\CREATIVE\MEDIA MANAGER
    C:\MEDIA\MUSIC
    6. Right-click your My Computer icon and click Properties.
    7. Click the Hardware tab and then click Device Manager.
    8. Remove any listings for Creative NOMAD products in the Device
    Manager
(they will most likely be located in the Uni'versal Serial Bus
    Controllers category).
    9. If you have a category call Other Devices, look for listings in
    there
called USB Device. If you have any, remove them.
    0. Install MediaSource only from the original installation CD.
NOTE: DO NOT OPEN MEDIASOURCE WHILE PERFORMING THESE PROCEDURES.
Also, you can try reloading the Zen Micro's firmware through recovery
    mode.
Move and hold the Power button to the Power On position and re-insert
the battery to the Zen Micro. Hold the Power button until the rescue
    mode appears.
Clean Up: Performs a disk scan on the players hard disk
Format: Formats the players hard disk All contents will be lost
Reload OS: Reloads the Operating System on the Jukebox. Do not select
this option unless you have downloaded the firmware. Reloading your OS
will not effect the contents of the files stored on your Jukebox Zen
    Reboot: Reboots the device
Please attempt the options 'Reboot' and 'Clean Up' first. If they do
    not
help, you must try 'Reload OS'. To do this, you must have a downloaded
firmware from our website ready. Please let us know the results after
these steps, as soon as possible.
For faster service please reply with previous correspondence when
    replying to this email.
    Best Regards,

    Creative Labs Americas
    "Get Creative"
I followed the directions, but 3 of the folders listed in step 5 didn?t exist (only C:\PROGRAM FILES\CREATIVE\MEDIASOURCE did), there were no Creative NOMAD products listed as in step 8, and there was no ?Other Devices? as stated in step 9. I did everything else for all the steps through step 0.
I then re-installed Creative MediaSource from the CD only to find it still didn?t recognize my player! I?ve now done this twice with the same results!
Zen Micro Media Explorer doesn?t even recognize my Micro when it'ss plugged in! It just keeps saying ?The device is not connected. Please connect your Zen Micro to the computer?.
I?m hardly a tech expert, but it seems to me that something on my PC is detecting my player and decieding for itself that the only 2 programs it will let manage my Zen Micro are Napster and Windows Media Player. If this is the case where do I go from here?!?!

    LakeTahoeGuy,
Just as SSR mention, if you're using v2.xx.xx (MTP) firmware then you will need to get the correct version of Media Explorer that support this firmware and also install the MTP plugin for MediaSource. Both the software and plugin are available from the site SSR mention.

  • Creative Mediasource doesn't detect zen to

    Hello,
I have a Zen Touch and I have it for a year now but I had installed Creative mediasource a time ago again and now he doesn't find my mp3 player. But my Windows Media Player detects it and with WMP I can put music on my zen touch but not with CMS and I like to do it with CMS. I have installed all drivers and now I don't know what to do. Can anybody help?

What firmware version does the player have?

  • Album details ripped using iTunes cannot be read in Creative MediaSource. Any f

    Hi.
Most of my CD collection was ripped using iTunes. All album details are viewable when using iTunes, Windows Media Player, Real Player & Nero Player.
Creative MediaSource doesn't see the album details and, of course, won't pass them on to my Zen NX.
Any tracks ripped using Creative MediaSource show full track listing etc on my Zen NX
Is there a way to make Creative Source read or import the album & track information?
I have tried using WMP and Real Player to upload to my Zen NX but (on 2 PCs) it just hangs.
All programmes are upto date - as is NX firmware.
    Appreciate any help.
    Wint.

Be very careful. There's a bug in at least some versions of MediaSource which will strip tag data from files encoded in iTunes, due to the way it formats the track number field.
It might also be a problem with the ID3 tag version that iTunes uses being incompatible with MediaSource.
The first thing to do is go to http://www.nomadworld.com/downloads/drivers and get the latest version of MediaSource.
Also take a look in the Zen FAQ at Nomadness.net for alternati'ves to MediaSoure and also some tagging programs.

  • Where to download Creative MediaSource for To

Hello. I just got my Touch two days ago. I bought it off ebay, and the seller did not include the CD with the drivers. I downloaded all the firmware, etc. and also the NOMAD Explorer software. However, I wanted to try the software requiring MediaSource. I cannot find anywhere to download this. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I went to the download site to take a look. You are right that under Zen Touch, Creative MediaSource is not listed as a download. I believe that this is because the Zen Touch installation CD may already have a newer version. That is why Creative thinks that Zen Touch users do not need to download MediaSource.
You may want to try to download the MediaSource listed in the download for Nomad Jukebox 3. Remeber to also download NOMAD JukeBox Type 2 Version .0.03 (English) Web Release.

  • Creative MediaSource 5 Err

Ok. I've used Creative for a long time now, but I have no idea how to cope with this issue--I'm not particularly 'puter literate. I bought this laptop, a Toshiba, at the end of summer and installed an older MediaSource on it (from a previous Creative purchase), then I bought and installed?an SB 2 card (after uninstalling the MediaSource from the previous installation). Then, for my birthday, I received a MuVo v00 and installed the software without uninstalling the older software first. Then, I uninstalled the older stuff, and everything was fine...until I tried to use the program (MediaSource 5 that is). Finally: the problem. The problem is this: I had the program running for a few minutes and it was cool up to that point, but then I went to play songs from My Music (from My Computer) and it freaked out and said it needed to close. This was the message:?AppName: ctcmsu.exe????? AppVer: 5..6.0??? ModName: mfinfou.dllModVer: .4..0??Offset: 0000582?So after sending error reports and debugging several times I decide to reinstall. Then again. Then again. One more time should do it....nope. I hunt down all the loose files from the other Creative registries and delete/uninstall them, and I reinstall once again but to no avail. I then decide that there has to be something conflicting with it and decide to uninstall everything related to Creative period, even the drivers and software for the audio card (which was an extreme disappointment, honestly). This same problem (ctcmsu.exe, etc.) persisted when I even thought that it could be the fact that I was trying to not have a music library--which has worked up until this MediaSource Version. It happened when I would try to transfer all my songs (which?are only 5 gigs) to a new library; it would get about half-way through reading the songs information and display the same blasted message. I love the MuVo v00, and I've been a fan of Creative (especially their MP3 players and DESKTOP Sound Cards) since my first MP3 player--which was, believe it or not, a Creative. I've also been a very loyal fan to MediaSource, it's easy to manage and does what you want, but now I'm at an impass. I need somebody's help, even if it means uninstalling everything again and loading an older version (which I've thrown away and can't find), I'll do it. Please help,?Chris

Just to confirm. Is your MediaSource v5 or v3. You can go to the About Box of MediaSource to find out.

  • Creative mediasource and Burning Di

I got Creative Mediasource with my Creative Nomad MuVo2 Player. I have "auto upgraded" the software and the plugins through the site.
There doesn't seem to be any burn option, although the help file tells how to do it.
I know that there are better burning programs out there, I have Nero, but thought that it might be convenient to burn from Mediasource.
Anyone know why I can't burn with my version (latest upgrade as well)?

Do the update manually. Here is what you should do:
    - Download and install the latest Creative MediaSource Player/Organizer 3.30.2 from your product download site. Make sure that you install this first before installing the rest of the MediaSource plugins listed below.
    - For NOMAD MuVo series: Download and install the latest Creative MuVo series plugin .0.05 for Creative MediaSource from your product download site.
    - Download and install the latest Creative MediaSource Plugin for CD Burner 3.0.8 from your product download site.
