Creative Micro Photo stuck at Creative scr

I went to use my device last night at the gym. The device when booting up will not load the os. It gets stuck on the Creative screen. Now the device will also not shut down. I have to pull the battery to shut the device down. Has anyone else seen this issue before? Is it possible that the device has gone bad some how?

Hi Waverider,?Having worked tech support for Creative I can tell you that the hard dri've of your player is probably defecti've. Have you tried the steps in the Recovery mode? Also I noticed that you use the player at the gym. Please make sure the player is not subjected to repeated shocks as this will damage the hard dri've as if you were to shock the hard dri've of a laptop computer. The micro is being discontinued due to the advancement of technology afforded on the newer players, not because of any defects of the player.
You may wish to consider a flash based player where the memory is stored on a chip rather than a moving hard dri've. They are designed for the acti've lifestyle ie: jogging etc... These would be the Nano, Nano Plus and the new line of Zen V players. Hope this hel

  • Creative Micro Photo charging on a noteb

i've read something, i don't no where anymore, that you can't charge the Creative Micro Photo
on a notebook, because the usb-ports of a notebook or to weak for that, so you have to do that
    on a desktop-computer, is that true ?

    Hi,
No that should not be the case. Now thats not to say some manufacturers don't 'throttle' power usage when your laptop is not docked or mains powered to prolong battery life. But from a point of view of charging it shouldn't be an issue. As it takes approx 4 hours to charge a MPhoto chances are your laptops battery will not last through the full re-charge cycle anyway.
If you are looking at prolonged periods with out access to mains you'll probably find availing of the replacable battery facility and aspare battery or two fully charged before departure will be a much better option.
    Hope this hel

  • Synchronisation microsoft outlook and creative micro photo, a nice feature or no

how nice is the feauture "synchronisation Microsoft Outlook" on the creative micro photo
    or perhaps other creative mp3-players
what are the pro's and con's ? do you use it often ?
is it a reason for buying because most other mp3-players have it not ?

That is a Hard Dri've failure. Take it back to where you got it for replacement, or contact Creative Support for warranty.

  • Zen Micro Photo frozen on Creative scr

Hi, I have had my Zen Micro Photo for three months and it has worked fine untill today. When I turned it on it went to the creative screen like it usually does and it just stayed there. I tried taking out the battery and putting it in again but it did the same thing. It doesn't even do anything when I hook it up to the computer. What can I do? I'm freaking out here please help me!!!!!!

It could be that the microdri've is "stuck" or in failure.
While the MicroPhoto is turned off, try tapping (well do it very firmly and with enough force) on the palm of your hand, restart the MicroPhoto and see if it boots up completely.
If not, a firm smack on a table top or counter may unstick the heads of the microdri've if that is what's preventing the microdri've from completely booting up.

  • Zen Micro 6gb Stuck at "Creative" l

First off, I realize there have been many topics relating to booting up and the screen freezing at the welcome creative screen. I just need to see what needs to be done, wether it be manually or by customer support. Recently on vacation, I dropped my Creative zen micro about 4 feet onto concrete. Now when i picked it up to check it out, there were no scratches or pieces that fell off. Also there was no rattling inside of the mp3 player. Later to my suprise, when turning it on, it froze at the "Creative" logo, and would not procede to go to the menu. I slapped it on my knee a couple times, nothing to serious, just seeing if anything that came loose, would set back in its place. Well it worked, don't ask me how, but it worked. I succesfully got to the menu and could listen to music. Well later, when I turned it back on I noticed it got stuck back at the creative screen. Somehow, when I put pressure on the mp3 player, something happened, and it booted back to the menu, like it would normally. Everything seemed fine, until about 3 days later it all happened again, but for good, its not going to the menu. All I see is a white screen with the black text that reads " Creative ". The only way to turn the player off, is to take out the battery, When plugged into my pc, it charges, and proceeds to glow in and out,.. but the screen light stays at a solid brightness, while the blue outlining fades in and out. I tried running all the options in the reboot menu, like format, and clean disk, but they all freeze up/ My pc recognizes the mp3 player, but the creative software I have installed does not. I tried updating the firmware, but it says my player is not connected. I thought about contacting customer support, but I notices that the seal is ripped, or "tampered" with. Its very easy top break the seal on accident, all you have to do is move the metal plate downward, and the seal ri
    ps.
At this point, I just disassebled the player to see if there were any loose parts, and I noticed everything seemed to be in order, and I put it back together to find the same results as before. Well I have it disassembled again, with all the parts layed out. Any help would be great.
Also, one last question.. Is there anyway I can reset the hardri've manually, as in, is there a little reset button on the hard-dri've that would format it's I have it in my hand, was just wondering if I could reset it.

I started reading in this forum because my Zen Micro Photo freezed today . It left the bag of my trousers and hit the floor. I am now wondering how much people do have the same problem as me. My player was falling the first time from the height of my knees and it was turned off. Startup stucked on Creative screen.
It seems to be that Creative harddisk players are especially vulnerable to hits like this. It is acceptable when it does not work anymore after hitting the floor 0 times. Or when it falls from a table. But already after the first time from a short height?
I tried what administrators do not advise:
Banging the player during startup. Reached music library. Had to bang two or three times more and all was okay. I am not sure for how long this will hold.

  • Creative Micro Photo / Gif

Does anyone think Creative will release a new driver supporting Gifs images ?
Im pretty sure it could handle it plus it would be sweet
    For the Micro Photo 8gb...
Also I would pay for the driver to make them even more
interested in making it.Message Edited by Moi on 05-5-2006 0:55 AM

  • Creative micro photo or philips 6 gb mp3 playe

ok im either gonna get the phlips 6 gb mp3 por the zen micro photo which to get iw want the zen cuz of the blow glow and 200,000 more colors but the philips is sleek and black but which truly has better sound quality? and which is likeley to fail first?

Not sure about the audiobooks, but you will probably need to upgrade your player with the audible compatible FirmWare. All I know is that you can place a bookmark on your audiobook. Sorry.
Second, about the categories. MP3's, and WMA's have data attached to them called "tags". To make sure your music is properly catalogued, you will have to make sure that your music is properly tagged.

  • [Zen Micro Photo] Stuck in b

My Zen Micro Photo gets stuck in the bootscreen. When I turn my Zen on it says "Creative" and after a couple of seconds "Zen Micro Photo". While "Zen Micro Photo" is in my screen it does nothing. I tried to take out the battery and turn it on again, but still nothing. Only after a couple of hours it starts working again.
It als doesn't connect properly with Windows XP.
The problem started a couple of days ago when I activated the removable harddri've mode on the Zen to connect it to Windows 2000.
Should a reload of the firmware help?

See the section "My Zen is not behaving properly, won't startup, or goes into rescue mode. What should I do?" in the FAQ.

  • SOLUTION - Zen Micro Photo Stuck in Recovery M

My Zen Micro Photo got stuck in recovery mode after I followed Creative Labs Technical Support suggestions. They had me do a Clean Up, a Format All a Reload Firmware and a Reboot. After doing this my unit was stuck in Recovery Mode. They then had me load the latest firmware. v .3.0, from a PC connection and I found that it worked fine, but doing the above steps put me back into Recovery Mode hell. So I did some testing.
I loaded firmware version .20.0 from my PC thinking the problem might be in the firmware version. Doing the steps they had asked me to do caused me to be in Recovery Mode Hell, so again I loaded firmware from my PC.
This time I went through each item one at a time and rebooted after each. Clean Up/Reboot, Format ALL/Reboot and Reload Firmware/Reboot. They all booted normally except when I did a Reload Firmware.
Next I loaded firmware v .3.0 to my unit again and did the same test. Again it put me in Recovery Mode Hell after I selected Reload Firmware from the Recovery Mode screen.
Conclusion DO NOT LOAD FIRMWARE FROM RECOVERY MODE. If you have to load firmware at all, do it from your PC connection. I'm going to copy this into the VERY LONG message I have had with Creative Labs Technical Support over the past 5 days and let them know what I have found. I hope this helps others to fix their Micro Photo.

I am having a similar problem. I am stuck in recovery mode and my PC won't recognize the MP3 player at all? I have rebooted, cleaned up, formatted, pulled the batt, etc. Finally I pulled the battery for longer than 30 seconds and that seemed to fix the problem. We will see.

  • Micro Photo - frozen on CREATIVE splash scr

purchased last week for my son. received it by
mail on 0-2-06. worked fine for .5 days. On
0-4-06 it started acting up where the computer
would not recognize it. Finally got that
working after unplugging and plugging back in.
Later that day it would turn on but get stuck on
the Creative splash screen. No functionality,
no menu, nothing. Tried the hard reboot by
taking the battery out and replacing while
holding the on button. Goes to the recovery
screen but once you choose ANY of the options,
it gets stuck on that process. Nothing happens.
You need to pull the battery. Can't even turn it off !!
Tried updating the firmware to the version for
Windows XP but because it is not functioning at
all our computer will not recognize it.
One last thing, when you turn it on for the
first 20-30 seconds, you can hear the dri've
    spinning or trying to spin.
Is there a way to reset this unit's? What's wrong with this thing?

That is a Hard Dri've failure. Take it back to where you got it for replacement, or contact Creative Support for warranty.

  • Creative Zen 8gb stuck in 'rebuilding' scr

Whenever I turn on my sister's creative zen it goes straight to the 'rebuilding screen'. The bar moves up about a fifth of the way then freezes.
I have tried every bit of advice I could find, i.e. i've gone into recovery mode, done the scan disk, format, and reload firmware, all to no avail.
I downloaded the latest firmware (ZEN_PCFW_L22__2_0e) and tried to upgrade the player to this via recovery mode, but i keep getting 'upgrade failed'.
The only way I can even get my computer to even recognise the player is by going into recover mode.
I'm sunning Vista...the player was working fine for a few months and this happened out of the blue, according to her.
Is there anything else I can try or is this a hardware issue?
    Please help!!!!

Yes, about a million times at this stage. When it gets stuck on the rebuilding screen I have no other way of turning it off than to reset it.Message Edited by BleakestH on 09-07-2008 04:05 AM

  • Zen Micro, Screen stuck on Creative logo, free

I was jogging recently and my Zen Micro fell off the pants clip i had on. When i picked my micro up off the ground the song i was listening to, was still playing, and played for another minute, before the micro shut off completely. It then would not turn on with the power button. So i removed the battery, and put it back in, and the micro came on, and the 'creative' logo was the only thing on my screen. With the logo on the screen, my micro wouldn't do anything, and just freezes. Anybody know how to resolve this predicament that im in? Or anybody have this happen to them, and know how to fix it's? I would appreciate any help i could get, Thank you in advance!

You can always try removing the battery and seeing if it reboots correctly, after you tried the Rescue Mode options.
The last option before sending the player in would be a firmware update.
    Cheers,
    Jan.

  • Zen photo stuck at Creative loading p

It won't do anything from that point when you turn it on. I take the battery out put it back in try to turn it on.. nothing. Just CREATIVE on black background. What's wrong with it's I am starting to not like Creative for my last mp3 player just stopped working after the warranty.

Is the player making any strange noises? (put it against your ear and listen for any mechanical noises) Have you dropped it or anything like that?
Try going into recovery mode, http://forums.americas.creative.com/creativelabs/board/message?board.id=dap&message.id=3
Perform a Clean up, and see if it will boot, then try to format and see if it boots. Last resort is to reload the OS (make sure you download it from the website first!).
If none of these work, I suggest contacting Creative support and see if they can do anything for you.

  • Zen Micro is stuck on Creative lo

For some reason my player won't let me access it. I think somebody dropped it, i hope not though. The Trademark, copyright, and name appears, then the "creative banner" pops up and stays there.
I've already gone to the rescue mode, but nothing happens when i choose an option. All it does is say "Formatting..." or "cleaning..." i've tried it more than once, and nothing happens. (for hours on end)
Someone please shine some enlightment upon me.

  • Zen Micro Photo- Stuck in Recovery + ot

I used my Micro on Thursday, no problem. Went to use it on Monday and it was dead...figured I left it on repeat and the battery died, so Irecharged it. Well, still had minor problems (very slow response of unit) so I reformatted the player and everything seemed fine. I plugged it into my computer and now it looks like it's charging, even though it may or may not be plugged in via usb AND it's stuck in Recovery mode. Oh, and my computer doesn't recognize it as being plugged in.
    Breakdown:
    Stuck in recovery.
Looks like it's charging (lightning bolt flashing in top right corner) even if not plugged in.
Computer does not recognize that unit is plugged in.
Please help, this is the first time in over a year of owning it that I had a problem with my Micro.

    Any suggestions?</i>

When i reset and restore and do all that, reload the songs on, the song shows up in the menu but when I try to access it, the song isn't there, as in, click the button - no song. help would be great.</i>
