Creative muvo flash player sound as compared to iriver flash playe

Only thing i have to go on here in making a purchase decision is my old iri'ver 700 series player that i thought had a very detailed sound.Since i cant find a store that allowed me to here a muvo n200 play is there anyone who could compare the sound of the n200 to iri'ver in sound department? the creative is a nicer looking more compact unit thus im thinking of going with it. thanks matt

i'm thinking of buying a creative mp3 player.
probably from their muvo line. most likely the tx fm.
i want a flash player with fm and the other features. but i'd really like to get one that supports m3u playlists.
does anyone know if any of the muvo/flash players support m3u playlists?
i read that the micro n200 does not. plus the issue with buzz while the backlight is on seems kinda lame.
any response would be appreciated

After searching around the internet, the one that seems to fit the bill for me is the . I would be interested in any comments on this device, or any recommendation for other MP3 players. They are not available currently here in New Zealand, so I will have to purchase it from overseas.
I would also just like to clarify if this (and other Creative MP3 players for that matter) have a random play function. I know this is a very basic question, but the only other MP3 player I've had anything to do with was a cheap model that didn't have random play, so I don't want to just assume it does.
Thanks for any help.

This is part of the message since you cannot post such a long message in posting.
This should show how lost you might be with your warranty. If you install the Firmware Upgrade .8.02 your player might be useless. There is no way to make it work again. Not really. If you understand what Creative seems not to do. So dear user - buy a new player. If you want to know what the solution is to make your player work again post here. If there are enough postings I will explain it here. Too sad that Creative does not do it. It is their job not mine... But again - I am not talking about a problem what is nice to have it solved. I am talking about a player that does not work anymore. If you do not want to wait for my solution just send your player for repair - it was not your fault that it does not work anymore...
This story with the great support was a test of Creative and will be used in a review. So be not surprised to find it somewhere else.
Here the Creative support story. The first mail is at the bottom. I had to make part and part 2 since you cannot post such a long message here.
To: Creative Labs Asia Customer Support <[email protected]][email protected]>Subject: Re: CLA (CTL) - Technical Support Request - (MuVo TX FM) (KMM7755874I6636L0KM)Dear,I know the solution long time already. I just wanted to test the support at Creative. The problem is real and forces owners of your players to buy a new one since their playes get useless after the upgrade. Not only that Creative puts a faulty upgrade on their homepage - their support is good for nothing. But this was a test of the Creative support. I hardly can believe that Creative is not in the position to solve a very simple problem caused by Creative - what has severe consequences for their customers. But this mail story confirms exactly this. So my advice to any customers - stay away from this company and their products - what is the final result of my test. If you want to know the solution for the problem please contact me again - I am glad to help such a poor company :-)))) For free? I am not so sure...since my player was not for free too...Best Regards,PeterPS: The product is still within the "police period" of my dealer. And I did not just buy the product. • Date of "Battery Birth" of Creative Zen Flash MP3 playe

Date of Battery Birth of Creative Zen Flash MP3 players.
Your Zen Lithium_Ion Polymer Battery lifespan is ~ 2-3 years OR the number of discharges/charges cycles -
approximately ~ 300-500 cycles max. Whichever comes first will degrade the charging capacity of the
Lithium-Ion Polymer Battery. Keep in mind, the Lithium-Ion life span begins "aging" from the time of
manufacturing of the battery!
Translation: If you bought a Creative Zen from Walmart,Target, Circuit City or Radio Shack, your battery
lifespan begins when the battery was manufactured by SK Mobile Energy (You don't know the manufacturing
date). If it was on the Walmart shelf for 2 years (You don't know this) Then, by the time you bought the Zen MP3
player your battery "shelf life" and battery charging capacity is gone!?
It would be very "consumer friendly" if Creative would show on the LCD display under the system/information
screen the EXACT birth/manufacture date of the Lithium-Ion battery and the number of discharges/charges
(300-500 max?) the battery has been through. After all, Creative manufactures the Zen and solders
in the "non-user replaceable battery" and they know the exact date of when the battery was manufactured. By
doing this, this would prevent "shady vendors" or third parties from "pulling the wool" over unsuspecting
consumers eyes. A firmware change would be in order.
Also, they should put a 0-00% battery capacity in numerical numbers near the battery symbol.
Keep in mind, the battery discharge rate and battery symbol is non-linear.
If Creative doesn't want to do this firmware change maybe they should do the following:
Have just only a Lithium-Ion Polymer battery warranty (not just the player warranty)? to protect the end users from too long shelf life of a battery.
Ref. Links
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lithium_ion_battery
http://wiki.answers.com/Q/What_is_th...ithium_battery
A unique drawback of the Li-ion battery is that its life span is dependent upon aging from time of
manufacturing (shelf life) regardless of whether it was charged, and not just on the number of
charge/discharge cycles. So an older battery will not last as long as a new battery due solely to its age, unlike
other batteries. This drawback is not widely published.[3]
DRM? DVD Copy? Music Copying.

I don't know the internal workings of the Zen Lithium-ion charging circuit but you should be able to use your
Zen player just like a laptop plugged into the wall.
Once the charging circuit sees a certain charge voltage on the battery it should shut down or go to a float mode.
(added this)?
Allow the battery to completely discharge from time-to-time then recharge it fully.
From the link:
http://www.omnica.com/omniview_electronics2.htm
Regarding lithium-ion shelf life, one of our engineers recently met with a battery-house representati've. It has come to their attention that repeated charging and re-charging of a less than fully discharged Li-ion cell affects the battery "gas gauge" included with many devices. Over a number of cycles there is a resultant loss in accuracy. Frequently, the indicated remaining charge has little relationship to the actual amount of life left in the cell! Fortunately, according to the battery expert, the gauge will reset itself if the battery is allowed to completely discharge from time-to-time.

• Creative MuVo TX FM - powers down when scrolling (how to f

I recently purchased a 28Mb Creative MuVo TX FM and thought I might share my experience with other members of this forum.
Not being experienced with MP3 players I duly followed the instructions and copied some wma files from my XP PC onto the MP3 player via USB / Windows Explorer, preset the FM stations and I was away. Oh the joy of having it work first time!
However, whenever I fast forwarded 3 songs or rewound about 4 songs using the scroller, the unit would instantly power down without warning. I thought it was a damaged file (or two) so deleted what I thought were the damaged songs ..... without success. The battery was brand new and the indicator on the LCD showed a full charge but I changed it anyway, without success. Oh the agony of new technology!
So I pulled out the CD, read the manual, found the creative website, found this forum and then ..... nothing! I did a search on the forum and found one other person who had similar problems (there may be more but maybe it was my search words) but I couldn't find a suitable answer. There is nothing in the Creative Knowledge Base and insofar as I can see, no relevant FAQ's.
Back on the Creative webpage I found a firmware upgrade here and after downloading and installing the firmware upgrade (and a reformat courtesy of the upgrade) and reloading the songs, hey presto! Problem solved!
So thanks to Creative for the support and if you are experiencing the same problem (auto shut down when scrolling), try downloading and installing the firmware upgrade per the link above.
Andrew.

I'm glad you were able to solve your problem. I received my MuVo TX FM 52MB with firmware .2.04 and upgraded it to .3.03, but fortunately never had your problem.
Do you know which version you used while experiencing the shutdown-problem?
Not that it is important to me, I'm just curious.

It sounds like something got corrupted in the memory. I would reformat and transfer the music again. Won't take long ... 256MB with 50-ish tracks at USB2 speeds is quick.

Unfortunately, NONE of my friends use Windows anymore , even at work we use Linux for security reasons. So what am i supposed to do now... They have a link at Creative that makes you belei've that they support Linux and offer you the possibility to choose the operating system, in other words=Linux. When i told in a mail to Creative Norway that they offer Linux support at their download-site, they actualy had the nerve to tell me that they don't do that!! I told them to remove the choice if they don't offer it, and don't try to tell people that they are eighter blind or stupid, and i pasted the Link + added a Screenshot of the page into the mail!! I realy got upset. It is the last time i by something from Creative. My first player from Creative lasted exactly 2 weeks, after that he stopped working for one odd reason, so i paid a little more in order to get a better one in exchange, and that device didn't li've longer than month eighter?
Not exactly QUALITY we are talking about..aren't we?
What to do, what to do?
Anyone has a clue?
