• I really need help with my creative MuVo N200 mp3 pla

i got my MuVo N200 mp3 player for chirtmas of last year, and it stopped working in 3 months. it used to shut off every few minutes and the mic doesnt work any more and i cant record music from the radio. right now it doesnt even work for a minute, it shuts off as soon as i try and turn it on. i emailed creative when it first started happening and they sent me a email saying what to do on there website, something about downloading something. i tryed it and it didnt work, im not sure if i didnt do it right. And right now i have no idea what to do. and creative won't help me unless i pay them money to fix it for me which im not about to do. has anyone have the same problem with the MuVo N200 mp3 player? what am i suppose to do to fix it's I still have there email telling me what to do, but i just dont get how to do it and if it will work. It only worked for me 3 months, and now im mad and thinking about buying a new one thats not from creative but i really want to try fixing it again to see if it will work. please help me.

Good question, unfortunately I have absolutely no idea. Reflashing/-formatting generally takes care of the usual cases of wonkyness this player develops, and there isn't anything more drastic you as a user could do.
Do you have a directory named "Recorded Tracks" on your player? Should be created automatically, but if it isn't you could try creating it manually...

hi users,
i've just bought the n200 last 2 days. the first problem is given. the player turns off himself, i change the best batteries (4 times), no function. i can't use it more than 5 minutes.
please help me.

As SSR mentions, you could try the firmware update first to see if that improves things (the update on the site is the N200 Audible Firmware Upgrade .2.0). If that doesn't help, it would be best to speak to Customer Support directly:

This is part of the message since you cannot post such a long message in posting.
This should show how lost you might be with your warranty. If you install the Firmware Upgrade .8.02 your player might be useless. There is no way to make it work again. Not really. If you understand what Creative seems not to do. So dear user - buy a new player. If you want to know what the solution is to make your player work again post here. If there are enough postings I will explain it here. Too sad that Creative does not do it. It is their job not mine... But again - I am not talking about a problem what is nice to have it solved. I am talking about a player that does not work anymore. If you do not want to wait for my solution just send your player for repair - it was not your fault that it does not work anymore...
This story with the great support was a test of Creative and will be used in a review. So be not surprised to find it somewhere else.
Here the Creative support story. The first mail is at the bottom. I had to make part and part 2 since you cannot post such a long message here.
To: Creative Labs Asia Customer Support <[email protected]][email protected]>Subject: Re: CLA (CTL) - Technical Support Request - (MuVo TX FM) (KMM7755874I6636L0KM)Dear,I know the solution long time already. I just wanted to test the support at Creative. The problem is real and forces owners of your players to buy a new one since their playes get useless after the upgrade. Not only that Creative puts a faulty upgrade on their homepage - their support is good for nothing. But this was a test of the Creative support. I hardly can believe that Creative is not in the position to solve a very simple problem caused by Creative - what has severe consequences for their customers. But this mail story confirms exactly this. So my advice to any customers - stay away from this company and their products - what is the final result of my test. If you want to know the solution for the problem please contact me again - I am glad to help such a poor company :-)))) For free? I am not so sure...since my player was not for free too...Best Regards,PeterPS: The product is still within the "police period" of my dealer. And I did not just buy the product. If you ever read what your system tells you (what I had to enter) - it was long time ago.

• Creative MuVo N200 SmartF

I have a 256MB NuVo N200. Now, I have about 50 songs on this MP3 player but have heard that decreasing the bandwith of my music would allow me to fit way more music. Can someone tell me how to use the SmartFit converter and how much more music I can expect to fit after converting my music?
<DIV align=right>"Tanks"

"Smart Fit" simply records the music onto your player as WMA files at a 64kbs rate. You can get about 8 hours of music on your 256 mb player using this rate. There will be a very noticeable loss in quality of sound however. In my experience, WMA files are a nice way to fit more music into the same amount of space, but 64 is just too low. 96 kbs is about the minimum for near CD quality sound (similar to an MP3 rate of 28 kbs).

when i try to play a song on my new mp3 player it starts to skip. How do I keep this from doing that?

Are those files that skip WMA or MP3. If it's WMA, then most probably they are encoded with DRM protection and you will have to transfer these type of WMA files through application like MediaSource or Windows Media Player to the player.

I have owned my Creative MuVo N200 for 3 years. Recently, it will display only the Creative logo. Although I know that music is loaded on there, the songs are neither displayed nor are they played. Is it time for a new MP3? What is the life expectancy anyways?

Try downloading the latest firmware update from website and use it to update and format the player. Remember to check the option 'Format Data Area'. Backup your player data first though.

hi every time i try and download a song it says error. i put it into recovery mode and it fixes it but i have to unload all the songs off and then start again but the same thing happens again and sometimes i don't even know if my player goes into recovery mode because my computer doesn't detect it. is there anything i can do about the error every time i try an ddownload a song? please help i am relly frustrated!!

"Download" as in from LimeWire or some such program? Or loading your player with songs.
If it's from LimeWire, the song file is probably corrupted.
If it's loading your player with songs, either you haven't installed the player's corresponding driver correctly, or something's happened to corrupt your firmware.
Try downloading the firmware from Creative and re-loading it onto your player. Very easy to do.
If that doesn't fix anything, try uninstalling and then re-installing the Creative MuVo N200 driver onto your computer. Get somebody that <EM>really</EM> knows what they're doing to help you.
