  • Creative MuVo Slim and WM

    I recently bought a MuVo Slim to supplement my Zen Micro. I like to use WMP0 to organize mu music library and I use playlists heavily. I find that the best way of managing my music os to organize it in playlists the way *I* want them and then synch selected playlists with my device. This works flawlessly with my Zen Micro (using MTP firmware of course).
    But this does not work at all with my MuVo Slim. WMP will transfer music OK and organize it in a folder structure like this on the MuVo Slim:
    \Music\<Artist>\<Album>\<Tracn name>.mp3
    This is fine except that my MuVo Slim won't recognize any music at all. I have played around a bit and moved my music files manually so it's all under one single top directory, e.g. \Music\<Track name>.mp3. The player will then find the files but there is no way to tell WMP0 to organize the music this way, neither do I want it organized like this. I assume the problem is in the firmware and lack of support for multiple subdirectories. I find little (read no) information about this in the manual or other placed I have searched.
    Can anyone confirm this limit and confirm if there is a update planned that will make the device work with WMP0?
    The device is useless to me right now and I'm about to send it back if there is no solution to this (using a different software to manage my music library is not a solution for me).
    Anyone?

    I organize all my music by playlists in WMP0 and depending on my mood I would like to quickly chose which playlist to synchronize with my player. That's why I don't want to do it all manually. And besides, because of the current 2 level directory limitation of the player it won't recognize all the music when I fill the player all the way up ( GB). That is, unless I rename files and reorganize them. That's just too much of a hassle so throwing it out the windows seems the only logical choice, at least that gives me some weird sort of satisfaction.....
    BTW I have a track record of destroying things that does not work as expected. I once invited both the Sales Director of Compaq in my country (before the merger with HP) and the local computer press to witness as I made a big fire of 36 Compaq laptops that my company had nothing but trouble with. The Sales Director of Compaq didn't show up but the computer press did. Needless to say it was a lot of fun.
    So don't you make the mistake of not beliening me when I say I'll throw it out the window :smileyvery-happy:

  • Creative MuVo Slim 512 Mb can´t be recharg

    I have only used one charge of battery of my MuVo Slim since I bought it about 0 days ago and now, I couldn?t turn it on.
    When I plug it in into the USB port it the "z" marc of charging does not appear. It is like the MuVo is thinking that the battery is full (that is not true because was almost empty) and don?t want to recharge it.
    After reading some posts here, I tried the "plug-unplug-battery-method" but It isn?t work yet. I installed the software that came with the device.
    Any suggestions?

    I have tried to recharge my Muvo Slim in another computer, but unfortunately nothing happened, in other words, the muvo still not recognize the battery. If I unplugged the USB cable when the battery is in the device, the display turn on for a few seconds and then the empty-battery-alert appears and turn off the mp3 player.
    What else can I do?

  • Lots of Questions about the Creative MuVo Slim 256MB MP3 Pla

    <SPAN>Hello, I'm thinking of buying it...but I got lots of questions that i want it answered first before I buy it.
    <SPAN>
    <SPAN>. How long does the battery last? Like would I even need to replace the rechargeable li-ion battery every year? month? never?
    <SPAN>2. I know I can only charge the battery via <SPAN>USB<SPAN> cable, so a<SPAN>pproximately how long is the wait time until it has fully recharged?<SPAN>
    <SPAN>3. Is it possible to recharge using an adapter instead of the <SPAN>USB<SPAN>? Because I found it easily.<SPAN>
    <SPAN>4. Do you think this is worth buying? Or should I wait on a future release? <SPAN>
    <SPAN>5. Is the voice recording clear? And can you record 5-0 feet away?<SPAN>
    <SPAN>
    <SPAN>Thank you very much for your time in answering my questions.

    . Lithium Ion batteries last at peak performance for about 3 years, or 300-500 charges, whatever comes first. They will still work after this for several years, but at reducing performance.
    2. Sorry, not sure...
    3. Again, not sure. You're taking a risk that the adapter is compatible.
    4. Only you can make that decision. Just look at this and the other players and compare the features and price.
    5. The in-built microphones are not great quality, and really only good for recording interviews and meetings, that type of thing.

  • Muvo Slim, sound only in one ea

    Hi
    I have this (huge i think) problem. When i am going to hear music with my Creative Muvo Slim player, there is only sound in the left earphone. I have just bought a new pair of earphones today, so i found out that, they weren't the problem. It's a little hard to explain but i actually can hear sound in both earphones IF i don't "plug" the cable all the way in to the player. You can kind of say that there is 2 clicks where number 2 is all the way in. If you plug it one click in and turn the cable a little around, i can hear sound in them both. But that just dosn't work, cause if i move then it stops working.
    How can it be that this has happened, and what do i do? It's pretty frustration to be listening to music in only the left ear...
    Rasmus

    I have tried 2 pairs of earphones, and pair of headphones, the problem is there with them all. So i think i can pretty much conclude that the player is screwed. I'm going to send it in to get a new one. Anyway, thanks for you help ~

  • Muvo slim connection proble

    Hello,
    I bought a Creative Muvo Slim MP3 Player.
    I can't see my player at my computer. I have installed/reinstalled drivers and software many times, but it didn't help. When I plug it, player shows that it is connected, but windows don't see it.. I have Windows XP.
    I have updated all my motherboard drivers.
    Help me out, please.

    Open your device manager and check under 'Uni'versal Serial Bus controllers'. Do you have a Mass Storage Device listing there or you have some listing with unknown or an exclamation.
    If the MuVo Slim is listed as Mass Storage Device under device manager then you may need to manually map your disk dri'ves, especially if your computer is connected to a network or if you have multiple dri'ves. We have an article on Knowledgebase on this.

  • Muvo Slim Mp3 songs skipp

    I just got my new 256Mb Muvo Slim two months ago and now the songs are begining to skip as if I was fast forwarding the song, and I know I have'nt dropped it. The radio still works fine, and it seems to only be skipping in the songs that i have downloaded, the songs from CD's burnt onto my computer work fine but anything not from a CD skips the whole way through the song. I have all the right software and I dont have any detectable viruses. Can a Mp3 have a Virus and does Creative warranty cover any reapairs or replacements

    Davidthefirst,
    You mention that MP3 ripped from Audio CD works fine but not downloaded music files. Where does those come from? From the way I see it, I don't really think the player is faulty since it plays fine from those MP3 ripped from your own CD. My guess would be those downloaded files are corrupted.

  • MuVo Slim issue - randomly playing tracks

    I recently bought a MuVo Slim 256MB MP3 player and have uploaded an assortment of tracks (5) from various artists, albums, etc. I'd like the player to randomly select from all of the tracks, which are not stored in separate folders.
    This feature works, that is, it randomly selects from the 5 tracks (i.e., starts at 26, 49, , 7, 0, 24, 28, , etc.).
    But, when the unit is turned off (holding down the play/pause button) and then back on, the unit will start the music playing at the last track played (say , for example...which is perfect), but then it will jump back to the first randomly selected track 26 and will continue in the previous order (i.e., 26, 49, , 7, etc.). As a result, most tracks are never actually heard because the list always starts back at the begining. Very frustrating.
    I've tried the different random options, but nothing seems to get the unit to deviate from it's defined random list.

    Jason,
    Thanks. I just downloaded the latest firmware for my MuVo Slim (..03 -- previous version was .02.0) and it has corrected the problem! Perfect!

  • File wont read,  and I'm ready to tear my hair out!!!

    Good Morning
    I wrote a short program to read a .txt file and assign values into an array. My program works, woo hoo (or so I thought...)
    But when I took the same code, and pasted into a function of a larger program, the file doesnt get read! In my larger program, I need the function to return the value of the array so I can use the array elsewhere. II originally thought the file didn't read because the .txt file and program were not stored in the same folder, which is not the case. So now I am wondering if I needed to pass a value to the function, or to call the function from inside the larger file, or basically what the heck I am missing! I am just not seeing it and am totally lost and dreaming of this, when I sleep of course!
    Code that works on its own -
    import java.io.*;
    import java.io.FileReader;
    import java.io.IOException;
    import java.util.Scanner;
    public class readInput {
       public static void main(String args[])throws FileNotFoundException, IOException  {
                //declaration of variables
                int i; // close the term.dat file
                int counter = 0; // counter for loop, also the index of the array for terms
                   int [] termInfo  = new int[3];

               try {
                FileReader termInput = new FileReader("terms.txt"); // creates file reader for rates file

               }  // close catch
         } //close of readInput
    }//close of mainCode from function that compiles but doesnt read (this is a rather long program, so I am only giving the function itself) --
        //function to read the files and load arrays

              int i; // term variable to hold content of file

                        counter++;
