Creative MuVO TX FM: Dead during/after firmware upd

Hi, I got my MuVO two months ago. I use it for both music and audibobooks from Audible.com. Lately it began to develop a problem: Most of the times after start-up it won't play anything. Instead it just display the file name. When Pause/Play is pressed, it skip a few seconds forward and stay there. Occasionally
Then, I tried to update the firmware on the creative site, but somehow during the update the player went completely dead, i.e. won't power up and can no longer be recognized as a dri've in computer.
Has anyone encountered a smiliar problem?

After reading a lot of the boards and stuff I finally was able to revert to .9.0, but not before trying everything under the sun.
Starting with a player that had nothing on it I did the following:
- reinstalled .22.03 so I had something that my PC could copy files on to, etc...
- using Windows Explorer, formatted the device to FAT, instead of FAT32
- Attached device in Recovery mode (holding play button long enough while connecting to USB port, that the device came up listed as in recovery in the device manager dialog.
- launched .9.0 install (MuVoTXFM_PCFW_LF__9_0.exe)
This time I didn't semaphore timeout and it got past allocating tables and completed the install. My tests of the device seem to indicate things are working again.

I followed this advice from dankirkd and I was able to revert back to the .9.0 firmware...

Zen Nano PLus dead after firmware upd

I wanted to update the firmware of my Zen Nano PLus, so I got the correct file off the creative site. I connected my mp3-player and executed the firmware update file. Everything went as it should do. It brought up a pop-up window of windows asking to search for new Hardware. I accidently closed it. Then the whole firmware updating process stopped. I closed the window of the updating process and tried to restart the firmware update file. I didn't work because the player wasn't even found by the computer. The bad thing about it is, that I cant do anything with my player since the computer cant even talk to it. I cant turn my player on/off: it is pretty much dead. No connection to computer status diagram appears, nothing. I tried the rescue tool of creti've, it didn't find the player either.
Any Ideas what can help?

Zen Xtra - Totally Dead After Firmware Upd

Following a failed attempt to upgrade the firmware on my Zen Xtra 60gb, I have now spent many happy hours this weekend reading about the problems we are all having with this issue.
What happened to me was that I tried to upgrade under Vista but ended up with only the recovery mode. I tried to recover the firmware using a clean XP build and Media Player 0. During this update all went well until the final reboot, where the machine stopped and the update crashed.
The machine has not booted since this.
I have no recovery mode, reset doesn't work (with or without the battery), the PC doesn't detect the Zen Xtra and if you try to charge it there is no 'charging' indicator.
It is totally dead.
Has anyone recover their machine from this state?
I emailed the help desk who responded with -
"However, my sincere apologies as the warranty for your unit appears to
be over by now and there would not be any out of warranty
repair/replacements available for your unit.
May I suggest that you purchase a new unit, instead of having your unit
replaced/repaired at a cost (if available), as this would be a more
economical option"
Any help or ideas greatly appreciated.

Help! MuVo won't turn on after firmware upgra

I upgraded my MuVo TX FM with the MuVoTXFM_PCFW_LF__9_0.exe file, upgrade seemed to go well but now the MuVo simply doesn't turn on!? Works fine when connected to USB, computer see's it and I can copy to it...
I have these drivers installed, MStorage_PCDRV_LB__07_00_250.exe
Please help me!

Whoever put the drivers onto the site got them from their N200 disk. They are the drivers that were available from the website until the newer ones came out quite recently.
It says Win 98 because you only normally need the drivers for a Win 98 or Win 98SE PC - Win XP recognises the player without them.
Any OS needs the drivers installed to be able to get into Recovery Mode as the driver installation also installs the Player Recovery Device driver.
So, in answer to your question, I am sure they are the right drivers.

Aha! At the very end of your second article was the following gem:
When FileVault 2 is enabled, Recovery HD does not appear in the Startup Manager (which is accessed by holding Option during startup)
I have never accessed Recovery HD using any other method, but now that I try the Command-R way, I find that the recovery HD is there after all.

Media Players won't Recognize 5 gig Micro after firmware upd

I received my 5 gig Creative Zen Micro two years ago for Christmas and I haven't been able to listen to it with headphones for about a year.
When I first discovered that the head phone input was un-soldered I was very upset and pretty sure I'd never be able to listen to it ever again but then I figured out I could connect my zen to my computer and play songs from it via mediasource or realplayer.
After I updated the firmware for my micro mediasource wouldn't recognize it and windows says it's an MTP player (before it was labeled as a usb device).
I downloaded a some kind of plug in that was suppose to fix the problem but it didn't.
Where do I go from here?
Also does any one know of a place in the Greenville South Carolina area that could fix the head phone input?

Have you updated all your Zen Micro's software? You could use Creative MediaSource Player/Organizer 3.30.2(52.2 MB) or Creative Zen Micro Media Explorer Web Update(48.24 MB)

Problem with External X-FI xmod sound card after firmware upd

Hi, i have had this X-FI xmod external sound card for a few months now without any problem, i do a lot of editing in sound forge which also has never been a problem, i noticed on the suppoprt site that a new firmware was availible; Creative Xmod Firmware .8.07056?which, i downloaded and installed, but since sound forge just tells me i have no sound device connected and wont play any tracks, although win amp and media player still seem ok at playing files, i also dont seem to have any user interface on my pc does anyone know if this is right or do you just use the controls on the xmod, i have found even the vol slider on the xmod doesn't turn the vol up / down now either. any help would be appreciated. Vision:M 30GB freezes on boot after firmware-upd

I have had my Vision:M for about 6 month, and decided to upgrade from .4 to the new firmware. But when the update was finish and the device booted, it just freezed, with the lights on. Nothing worked. Same thing happends if you reset the thing. Tried new firmware and everything else on the rescue menu.
Anyone tips would be greatly appriciated!

I am having a similar problem, my Vision:M froze on reboot during the install of new firmware. Now I can't even get to the rescue menu. Any help?would be appreciated.

N70 - Voice dialing deactivated after firmware upd...

Okey, this is making my head explode.
I got my fathers old N70 phone since he have bought a new N95. My last phone was BenQ-Siemens EF81, worst buggy phone ever, so I was pretty excited.
By nature, the first thing I did was upgrading firmware. Last firmware I has was v2 something, now I have the last one from Nokia Auto Updater.
A feature I discovered by an accident was the one where the phone had made a voicetag for every contact I had, and i could automatically call them without any big problems.
But after the stupid firmware update (that I think did no good), the feature isn't working right! I discovered that I could isolate the problem in one way. I formatted the phone, no contacts what so ever left, made a new one, opened "Voice Comm." settings, tada! Voicetag made, but if I use my MacBook to iSync all my contacts, it won't work! And it did before the update (I used iSync then too).
So, what's wrong?

Okey, funny thing.
I have no idea how, but I fixed it.
Since I've searched my **bleep** off for an answer, and know that not finding an solution can be frustrating, I'll tell exactly what I did.
1) Formatted the phone with 3 + Star + Green callbutton.
2) Made an contact in my blank contactlist for fun.
3) Started "Voice Comm." program.
4) Used iSync for adding contacts.
5) Started "Voice Comm." program again.
6) Tada, should be working. Worked for me!
Hope this workaround helps people that has the same problem. Not only is the Voice Dialling function useful, it's also fun as hell when it calls wrong people!

ZEN: Blank screen after firmware upd

I updated my 4GB ZEN to .0.05 firmware.
It worked well for a few hours then it just went dark screen, not responding.
I couldn't access the recovery mode and my computer won't detect it.
When I reseted the player, the Creative logo came up and then blank screen, nothing.
Flashing the firmware back to the older version is not an option (tried, my computer won't detect the player)
Neither does the recovery tools (tried, same reason as above)
So I guess the only option I have left is to go to the service center, right?

if you read to other posts with the same problem you see what you need to do to fix it ..... but just for jou the last time??this is what i diid and it works :?To Fix any problems with broken firmware form attempted "playsforsure" firmware updates etc where your pc finds it as a 20mb dri've and it sits in recovery mode and does bugger all:
(fix courtesty of cinderlee in creative forums)
1. Uninstall all creative software & drivers
2. Uninstall Media Player and Media Player runtime (will require a reboot for each thing). This is done by going to add/remove programs and uninstalling (this will put your pc back to wmp0).
3. Re-install the Zen Driver from the creative website and reboot
4, Plug Zen in.
5, Make sure you have the firmware update ready, run it but don't click the language bit yet), leave the mouse hovering over your language selection.
6. On the Zen- select "reload OS"
7. As soon as it flashes up "reload new firmware now via USB" click the language button
8. Tada, now the pc should find it and allow you to re-load the firmware. (it may take a few attempts)
9. Once complete, click close and restart the pc. Everything should now be fine.
0. once you are happy you can re-install WMP and it will work fine.

Repair service for N80 (bricked after firmware upd...

Hi,
I have a broken N80 mobile, that doesn't boot up anymore after an unsuccessful firmware update. Unfortunately the warranty is over and Nokia Service refused to repair as it is apparently not "worth" the repair cost. Does anybody here know a clever third-party company (preferable in Europe) that repairs this kind of damage and is capable of "soldering out" the flash mem and put a new one in (as normal flashing - even through the service bus doesnt seem to work anymore)?

Hmm,thats too bad but I can't hardly believe that a software(e.g. upgrade) can damage an electronic chips (flash memory)& service bus ! Its not allowed here to discuss hardware repair, but a hint... any laptop repair shop that is equipt with heat gun & laser for removing SMT chips can do that, if you knew the particular chips.

Qt applications stopped working after firmware upd...

I updated my Nokia E75-2 to new version of firmware and now I can't get Qt applications to work on it. I reinstalled Qt (v4.7.1) and Qt mobility (v1.1.0) but it doesn't help. No Qt applicaton, not even the demos that come with Qt work anymore.

I tried to reinstall phone software via ovi suite but it always fails to do that. Any ideas on what could be causing this problem and on how to fix it? The Pre loaded songs are digitally protected and were unlocked before the software upgrade. At the moment i dont believe there is a method to unlock them over the air for your phone. You might want to contact the Nokia Care Line or refer to a Nokia Service center to have them unlock it.
