This is part of the message since you cannot post such a long message in posting.
This should show how lost you might be with your warranty. If you install the Firmware Upgrade .8.02 your player might be useless. There is no way to make it work again. Not really. If you understand what Creative seems not to do. So dear user - buy a new player. If you want to know what the solution is to make your player work again post here. If there are enough postings I will explain it here. Too sad that Creative does not do it. It is their job not mine... But again - I am not talking about a problem what is nice to have it solved. I am talking about a player that does not work anymore. If you do not want to wait for my solution just send your player for repair - it was not your fault that it does not work anymore...
This story with the great support was a test of Creative and will be used in a review. So be not surprised to find it somewhere else.
Here the Creative support story. The first mail is at the bottom. I had to make part and part 2 since you cannot post such a long message here.
To: Creative Labs Asia Customer Support <[email protected]][email protected]>Subject: Re: CLA (CTL) - Technical Support Request - (MuVo TX FM) (KMM7755874I6636L0KM)Dear,I know the solution long time already. I just wanted to test the support at Creative. The problem is real and forces owners of your players to buy a new one since their playes get useless after the upgrade. Not only that Creative puts a faulty upgrade on their homepage - their support is good for nothing. But this was a test of the Creative support. I hardly can believe that Creative is not in the position to solve a very simple problem caused by Creative - what has severe consequences for their customers. But this mail story confirms exactly this. So my advice to any customers - stay away from this company and their products - what is the final result of my test. If you want to know the solution for the problem please contact me again - I am glad to help such a poor company :-)))) For free? I am not so sure...since my player was not for free too...Best Regards,PeterPS: The product is still within the "police period" of my dealer. And I did not just buy the product. I went ahead and updated it anyway. One little thing I noticed was now the volume only goes up to 25 like my Zen Touch instead of 40 or whatever that it did before. Same loudness, different numbers only. Other than that, I have not noticed anything different, but it seemed to work OK scrolling through a song with the old firmware. I did not, obviously, do a detailed comparison.

• SUCCESS !!! Muvo TX 512MB Firmware Upgrade

My Muvo was toast. Same issues as others here. "No Music" message when Windows Explorer clearly showed mp3 files plus data files. I was even able to copy (backup) files to my laptop. I highly recommend this before you start anything!
After that, though, deleting files caused all sorts of problems. Most notably was the hanging or freezing every time windows explorer/windows format/(even)IE creative.com site autoupgrade tried to access the player. I formatted the dri've. After the first format (FAT not FAT32) I wasn't able to format the dri've again.
I finally decided to manually download the newest firmware (MuVoTX_PCFW_LF__22_03.exe). I've read that others have had problems with it. I removed the player from the usb port then (read somewhere here to do this) held the power button down while I reconnected it. I then ran the file above. It appeared to hang again. I also got the standard windows "new hardware detected" window and went ahead and clicked "let windows install new software (recommended)" (or something like that).
It took awhile but it finally completed. I noticed the player display was completely dead now though. Never happens when connected to the usb. I clicked on the "Safely Remove Hardware" (recommended in the manual before disconnecting). Sure enough, the player was completely dead. No power up or anything. I chuckled to myself cuz I had read this same problem over and over.
I connected it to the usb port again. Windows Explorer did not see it. I RERAN "MuVoTX_PCFW_LF__22_03.exe". The player was immediately detected! Second time around a dialog box appeared showing old firmware (0.00.0), new firmware (.22.03) and an option to format data area, which I took. Viola!!! SUCCESS !!! Upgrade completed!!!
I'm happy to report that I am now able to load mp3's on my Muvo TX. It's working fine so far. I'll report back if anything changes.
ps.
Tip - Keep in mind the "number of files" limitations on the player. Use folders! A folder with multiple mp3's is still considered one file in itself.

First, sorry about poor english!

• Help: MuVo² 5 GB firmware error and connection proble

Thanks in advance to everybody reading this. I've searched through the forums for two hours and have not found a solution.
When started, my girlfriend's Muvo? 5 GB player only shows "firmware error" and switches to recovery mode. So I tried "Scan Disk", "Clean Up", "Format All" rebooting between each step. Nothing changed, so I downloaded the firmware "Creative MuVo? FM Firmware version .00.02". I could not find the exact firmware for the 5 GB player and read in the forum, that this version should work. When I chose "Reload Firmware" and attached the player via USB after I had been told to do so, my computer recognized the player. However when I tried to run the .exe file the setup told me "Your player is not connected, please connect your player."
I've tried it on four different computers and the same message keeps popping up. I'd be really grateful if anybody could help me out on this one. Thanks in advance.

luis bustamante-
Greetings and welcome.
Pull out both of those cards and see if you can boot.
It is most likely one of them or an externally connected peripheral.

• Muvo TX FM 512MB: firmware upgrade failed. How to recov

Hi, I have a Muvo TX FM 52MB. The firmware version used to be .4.0x. I tried to upgrade it to the newest one, .7.04.
I did everything according to the Instructions on the Creative Download Website. I let the OS to choose the recovery driver for me. The firmware upgrade file correctedly found my player and executed the upgrade. However, there's no instruction that I should check the format data option during upgrade. So I didn't format the data during upgrade. After the upgrade, I couldn't start the player and the PC couldn't recognize it.
I tried to do the upgrade again. The PC correctly recognized the player as a recovery device. After I started the creative upgrade program, the program founds the recovery device, then started to find any device connected to the computer, finally said that "The device is not connected to the USB port".
How to solve it's Many thanks.

go to nomadworld.com and find the firmware... READ PROPERLY... it says that u must install a new driver before u upgrade the firmware... mine works... for now, to recover it, press and hold the play button on the player while connecting it and hold the button until a window appears to install the player recovery software... before that, install the new driver first. then let windows search for the driver. windows will clear everything up in ur player. NOW U CAN DO UR firmware update... it doesnt matter whether u want to format or not cause the firmware upgrade program will format your player even though u didnt want to do it. its not the formatting problem.. hope this hel
ps.
thanks for reading.

'Thanks a million for the link, KokChoy-CL! You are now on my X-mas present list.
I have been using the .0.03 firmware, but recently I read http://forums.creative.com/t5/MP3-Players/Zen-Touch-Custom-EQ-Frequencies-Wrong/m-p/64205" and wanted to try out the .00.06 firmware. Comparing from memory and using custom EQ, lows and mids sound much more clear now while bass is a bit more on the light side.

• Creative Zen Microphoto - "Firmware upgrade failed&qu

Hi,
two days ago my Zen Microphoto started in "Recovery Mode".
I had no means of getting out. I first selected "Clean Up" and rebooted, still "Recovery Mode".
Then I downloaded the latest firmware version for it:
ZENMicroPhoto_PCFW_L6__3_0.exe
Then I selected "Upgrade Firmware", acknowledged with "Yes", the firmware was deleted, but the windows firmware application said "no player connected" after connecting the player.
Okay, after googling a bit, I found out that I needed to downgrade from WMP to WMP 0.
I (painfully) did this and after installing an additional Registry Key via fixup.cmd the
ZENMicroPhoto_PCFW_L6__3_0.exe
detected the player (hurray!). It showed "Current Player Firmware Version .20.0 " and "Upgrade File Version .3.0".
When clicking on "Upgrade" at the windows application, the blue progress bar appeared and the player showed "Recovery Mode" and a blinking USB logo.
What it did NOT show afterwards was a gear symbol with "Upgrading firmware" (which I found on a screenshot in the internet).
When the blue progress bar of the windows firmware upgrade application reached about 85% it halted and after minute the windows firmware application showed "Firmware upgrade failed!" while the player only showed a black screen with "Recovery Mode" and the green battery symbol at the top.
I also tried the same procedure with
ZenMicroPhotoP4S_PCFW_LB__20_0.exe with the same result: "Firmware upgrade failed!"
Any ideas how to "repair" the player

• A Question About Firmware For Creative MuVo TX

1. How Can I Take Backup Of My Orginal Firmware From My Player ?
My Firmware version Is .20, And I Want To Take Backup Of It Before Upgrading It To .24.
2. What Is The Worst Condition If The Firmware Upgrade Is Halted By Any Error Or By Some Problems ? Can Player Work Again Without Contacting Any Service Center ?
Does Sound Quality Of TX FM Increases After Doing Firmware Upgrade ?
Does The FM Radio Becomes More Clear After Firmware Upgrade ?

If you want to use the software on the new machine then the new machine needs to be a Mac and you need to deactivate the software (use Help -> Deactivate) on one of the two current installations so that you have an activation available for the new machine.
I am assuming you meant CS5.5, not CC 5.5, and that you have a single user license, not two licenses... a single user license allows you to have two activated installations.  If you do actually have two licenses then you should be able to use them with four different machines.

• Creative Muvo tx

everybody i think has problem with firmware for their muvo tx SE, my problem is like that, I opened my box and first what i did was flashing the firmware, ofcourse the muvo was dead i couldn't flash any firmware for tx(any version) so i flashed with wersion for fm, everything is ok in this version (without no working radio fm, but i think it is normal but now i can't flash with any firmware for tx beacause my device is now recognised like muvo tx fm(on the lcd is shown only part of the image-usb connected to player, you know what i mean), I had sent many mails to creative and I got answer that the new firmware .3.02 will available a few days after the new year, beacause they don't have it yet,so maybe it will repair the situation with our problem, but in my opinion they only make their hands full of work with this case, because many people sent back their players to them, for change. This shouldn't happen because Creative is well known company, they wasted much money on it and let people to waste their time with sending many mails, players to company. I can send my and get the new one, but who will guarantee that it wouldn't be the same after flashing to new firmware? People shouldn't be afraid with that, because Creative is making firmware to upgrade by people at home without any problems!
Best regards from eRd from Poland (we have the same problem here too to people from Creative who like to answer mails about the same problem with muvo tx se, thank yourself

I have a suspicion the firmware is not fully compatible with Win2000. As I wrote installing the firmware upgrade just knocked the device down. I could set into the recovery mode, yet the firmware wouldn't install. The version .0.05 is the current one and .02.0 was built in.
Anyway, I got sick and tired of communications with Creative Support (which reads: a creative approach to support) and just returned the device to the shop I have bought it. The serviceman did quite exactly what I was performing yesterday myself, and, in the and he said the device was out of order.
Truly, I could buy some 00 of MuVo's screw them one by one with the latest firmware, and return them all to the shop, as they would malfunction. As eRd said it might be worth fixing the firmware. I meant for the economy of Creative.

• Creative MuVo TX FM - powers down when scrolling (how to f

I recently purchased a 28Mb Creative MuVo TX FM and thought I might share my experience with other members of this forum.
Not being experienced with MP3 players I duly followed the instructions and copied some wma files from my XP PC onto the MP3 player via USB / Windows Explorer, preset the FM stations and I was away. Oh the joy of having it work first time!
However, whenever I fast forwarded 3 songs or rewound about 4 songs using the scroller, the unit would instantly power down without warning. I thought it was a damaged file (or two) so deleted what I thought were the damaged songs ..... without success. The battery was brand new and the indicator on the LCD showed a full charge but I changed it anyway, without success. Oh the agony of new technology!
So I pulled out the CD, read the manual, found the creative website, found this forum and then ..... nothing! I did a search on the forum and found one other person who had similar problems (there may be more but maybe it was my search words) but I couldn't find a suitable answer. There is nothing in the Creative Knowledge Base and insofar as I can see, no relevant FAQ's.
Back on the Creative webpage I found a firmware upgrade here and after downloading and installing the firmware upgrade (and a reformat courtesy of the upgrade) and reloading the songs, hey presto! Problem solved!
So thanks to Creative for the support and if you are experiencing the same problem (auto shut down when scrolling), try downloading and installing the firmware upgrade per the link above.
Andrew.

Interesting...
I'm glad you were able to solve your problem. I received my MuVo TX FM 52MB with firmware .2.04 and upgraded it to .3.03, but fortunately never had your problem.
Do you know which version you used while experiencing the shutdown-problem?
Not that it is important to me, I'm just curious.
