Thanks!

Yes it is called trying to install the wrong driver for your card. Will work much better if you try installing the correct one,
SBAX_PCDRV_LB_2_8_000.exe
Also helps if you click on the "Show Details" link on the download page, then you would see that the one you tried to install doesn't support your card,
Requirements:
Microsoft Windows Vista 64-bit, Windows Vista 32-bit, Windows XP Professional x64 Edition, Windows XP Service Pack 2, Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 or Windows XP Media Center Edition 2004

Thanks for your reply
I am sorry for the problem you are facing.
To achieve outputs from all the speaker during speaker test, you will need to have an analog connection, or digital DIN connection.
That will be possible if you connect the three line out jacks on your soundcard, to the three audio input (analog jacks->green,black,orange) on your speaker, if it has this connection. Or, you may connect them using Digital DIN, if they have this connection.
If you are using digital connection (coaxial, optical), there will be no way to achieve sound output from all the speakers during 5. speaker test, as they carry stereo signal.

Hello
Your email was helpful, unfortunately, not for my unit, you see I would
have
connected the Jack leads in by now if the inspire had Jack lead inputs
as
you describe
Please don't think I am being sarcastic, but from reading the
correspondence
below it would seem as if your department is having difficulty
understanding
my problem.
Also it would seem your department doesn't have the necessary technical
information on your very own product, so to help with your dilemma I
have
taken photos of the input/outputs on the Inspire unit.
You will clearly see the inspire has no inputs other than Coaxial and
Optic.
This leaves me back to my last post. I think the solution would be for
me to
purchase the correct processor, which would have come with the original
sound card had I not been a little tight on the money front.
I have attached a photo of the sound card with the processor, I would
love
to buy this processor but find myself unable to locate this product on
your

item so I can buy this Processor Please?

Thanks for your reply
Your soundcard is Audigy 2 ZS
Your speaker is Creative Inspire 5. Digital 5500
You will need to have a 3:3 cable(with the color green, black, orange)
to connect your soundcard to your speaker, to achieve the 5. effects
with games.
Below is the connection:
- Connect line out jack of Audigy 2 ZS
to 'Front' of Creative Inspire 5. Digital 5500 using the green color
connection
- Connect line out 2 jack of Audigy 2 ZS
to 'Rear' of Creative Inspire 5. Digital 5500 using the black color
connection
- Connect line out 3 jack of Audigy 2 ZS
to 'Center/Subwoofer' of Creative Inspire 5. Digital 5500 using the
orange color connection
Once you have done the correct connection, play the game DOOM3.
Ensure you have selected either the EAX or surround option in the game
settings.
Does it work?

You have lost me. Your sound card clearly states that I can have EAX
surround decoding from the sound card I have purchased.
All of the games on your web site claim to give me an environmental
effect
that will blow my mind, hence EAX.
All I have done wrong is NOT buying your decoder that comes with the
sound
card. My mistake.
All I want to do is re-address this issue and buy the correct
decoder/processor.
Can you point me to the correct link on your web site so I can buy the
correct decoder/processor?
As for the PCM out of the above cables, this foxes me as my other
equipment
only use Optical cabling on my Lexicon processor and from that I have DD
7., DTS 7. and meridian 5. lossless.
My issue is more to do with NO EAX from the rear and centre channels
while
in-game.

Dear Martin
Thanks for your reply
All commercial digital connection eg. optical or coaxial cable will only
carry PCM stereo signal. If you want to output the signal to a surround
5. with extra EAX environment effects, it will not be possible at all
since it is only restricted to stereo channel signal.
As per current industry limitations, we are bound to follow the standard
one-signal output for all our SPDIF and Optical output jacks. This is
something that is currently shared by all vendors for all products.
Please note that all games are not dolby digital, even they are , it
will require certain motherboard to encode it to dolby digital signal,
which our soundcard does not support.
You can only use analog connections to gain true 5. surround for
gaming..

Dear Martin
Thank you for the reply.
Computer games written with support for 3D audio do not require a Dolby
Digital Interacti've Content Encoder (DICE) to output multichannel sound,
with no exceptions. Sound devices that support the real time encoder
technology from Dolby will simply receive the multichannel wave file
output and encode it in real time to a somewhat modified Dolby Digital
bitstream. Creative does not support the Dolby Digital Interacti've
Content Encoder on any of its sound cards.
The only difference between a Sound Blaster card and an audio card that
has a real time encoder, is that you can make a one-wire, digital
connection from your audio card to your home theater receiver and enjoy
discrete multichannel sound from the game. However there will be a
continuous, slight delay, known as "latency", as the encoder is creating
and transmitting the bitstream, and of course the compression scheme
being used is "lossy" (i.e. not bit-accurate).
If you want to enjoy 3D audio in 3D enabled PC games in multichannel
surround sound with a Sound Blaster card, it is recommended that you
connect the analog outputs of the sound card directly to the analog
inputs of the receiver. This will require 3 cables for 5. surround
sound, one for front right and left, one for rear left and right, and
another one for front center and subwoofer. Though it requires more
cables than a real time encoder system, it will not have any latency
issues. When connecting PC audio to a home theater receiver, Creative's
latest sound cards such as Sound Blaster Audigy, Sound Blaster Audigy 2
are likely to provide higher quality audio than any Dolby Digital real
time encode system available for the PC today.

No, inspire 5500 does not automatically switch while "in-game" when DD

May i know what game are you playing when there are no sound from the
rear speakers?
Have you done the appropriate settings in the game to achieve the 5.

Is there any game patches that you will need to update?
Does the Dolby Digital LED light up when you are playing the game?

Pin Specifications for Creative Sound Blaster Audigy SB1394
;Pin Specifications for Creative Sound Blaster Audigy SB394 I have a Sound Blaster Audigy SB934 CA000-IAF Creative Tech '0 AA299J basically a Sound Blaster Audigy Platinum (wiouth the front bay for conectivity.)? And since I dont' have the front bay for heaphone and mic conectivity I was wondering if there is a spec sheet for the 40-Pin conectivity that is used for the front bay. I was wondering if anyone could provide me with such spec sheet so that I can try to conect my frontal Intel board plugs for headphone and microphone (would like to use my headset.)
There are a lot of pins on the card and well only about 8 in the conector for the front plugs. So if any dev from the forum is reading this I would greatly apreciate it if I could use my front Intel sound plugs on this old model card.
Thank you for all your help.http://www.driverheaven.net/audio-general-technical-discussion/5279-creative-audigy-2-ad_ext-pin-assignment.html
That will help you with the pin assignments.......
And you can also try one of these to connect a lot more easily to your front panel audio jacks.......

Yeah, 32-bit, wooo.
When will a 64-bit version be available?Has anyone tried the "AMD64" Driver for the Audigy Value (I assume this is the SE?) that is on the bundled CD?
I tried different driversets from the download/support site to no avail.
I didn't think about the CD driver until I got to work this morning.
Really wishing I picked up the Li've! (yesterday) instead of the Audigy Value now
...expected this card to have a better chance, especially with "x64 drivers" on the box.
Oh well, I'll give it one more shot tonight with those CD drivers... hopefully something will work.Message Edited by abz on 2-07-200604:08 PM -

Creative Sound Blaster Audigy? 2 ZS Video Editorc Hello.

After installing the only available driver [Beta .0.0098] and rebooting, the Device Manager still lists an Unknown Device which corresponds to the video part.

Is Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2 NX USB sound card compatible with Dell deskt
Im considering buying the Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2 NX USB sound card to use with a Dell desktop XPS 40, but recently read a forum message on another page that there was a issue with installing on a Dell Tower but no problems with installing on a laptop
any help is appreciated if there are any compatibility issues with using this sound card on a Dell desktop, Thanks
the main reason I would like to upgrade to this card is so my pc doesnt use the integrated audio which Id like better quality performance with a sound card and also dont want to install a internal card on the systemjoaolfb,
Audigy 2 NX will need to be connected with the power adaptor inorder to run. USB will not be enough to sustain the power consumption of the sound card.

Creative sound blaster audigy 2 zs h
I have creative sound blaster audigy 2 zs card and a set of AV labs, amped 7. sound system speakers. i have 4 input wires to plug into the card and it only seems to have 3 output jacks. When i go and calibrate the speakers i am missing out on my two surround speakers. how should i be hooking these up. There is probaly a simple ansew to this but it has me stumped. help please
Please read Creative's speaker connectivity guide: <A href="]http://ask.americas.creative.com/SRVS/CGI-BIN/WEBCGI.EXE/,/?St=787,E=0000000000070303557,K=54,Sxi=0,Question3 895=obj(3895): obj(3899)) (Remove the space between ": obj", I wrote so cause I get a smiley otherwise:angry: )
As you will see in the article, the Audigy is fitted with two 4-pole connectors, which can carry 3-channels each. So you only need 3 wires for a 7. system, as you have 2 normal stereo plugs (3-pole) and 2 3-channel plugs (2*2+2*3=8). You will most probably need different wiring for your speaker system as it appears you have 4 stereo plugs.

Help! Creative Sound Blaster Audigy SE 7.1 Sound Card -
Hello. I've just recieved my new soundcard. It is the Creative Sound Blaster Audigy SE 7. Sound Card - OEM. (Located here: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showp...atid=&subcat=)
My motherboard is a Asus A8N SLi se.
Now, I have put it in my motherboard, and just tried to install the drivers. I got an error though. It said "No compatible creative product detected." So I downloaded the drivers off the Creative site, and that did not help either. I disabled the onboard sound in the BIOS, and yet it still did not work. I tried plugging in the soundcard into each of the soundcard ports on my motherboard, and none of them detected the card.
I am sick of using onboard, and would like to get this problem fixed.
Some additional information:
The back audio/microphone ports on my motherboard never worked. I have been using the front sockets on my case. I see cables running from my motherboard to the front of my case. Maybe one of those cables need to go into my soundcard in order for it to work? I'm not sure which though, so I didn't try it, just incase.
Here are some screenshots of what I'm getting. They might help.
Drivers from the Creative site: http://img409.imageshack.us/img409/4528/gayap9.jpg
Drivers from the Creative CD: http://img520.imageshack.us/img520/3649/gaycdam5.jpg
Unknown Device in my Device Manager: http://img409.imageshack.us/img409/9924/unknownoj8.jpg
Now, I have no other creative parts in my computer. So this should be the soundcard, right?
Thanks in advanced for any replies.Does the cable from the MB to the front I/O panel simuliar to this one? I installed a Audigy2 ZS in my other system and connected the black cable with the 0 pin connector to the card to use my front phone/mike jacks. Also in your device manager I see the Realtek AC97 still listed. When I installed the XM card in my 600 I disabled it in the BIOS so the entry does not show up in mine just the SB XF-I is displayed.

Have you added some kind of hardware MP3 decoding or something?
You know if you're trying to keep us with you, or encourage us to upgrade, you're going about it a very odd way.
Win 7 RC700, Audigy 2 OEM, http://forums.creative.com/i/smilies/6x6_smiley-wink.gif" title="Smiley Wink" alt="[/img]? I think you owe us now, tbh. Even just a little something like properly working CMSS 3D for headphones would be nice (which I believe is an X-Fi feature), or the ability to record 5. in WaveStudio. However I get the feeling that it would only cause more problems!? lol. http://forums.creative.com/i/smilies/6x6_smiley-wink.gif" title="Smiley Wink" alt="[/img]

Creative Sound Blaster Audigy SE problems
Alright first of all I am new to Linux in general.
I have two soundcards in my computer. One is an onboard card (Intel) that is faulty and doesn't work; another is a Creative Sound Blaster Audigy SE which does work.
My problem, of course, is getting the latter to work.
So I realize this is nothing new, searching the forums and reading ALSA's wiki. However there seems to be some issues with making this work on ALSA, so is there a way to configure this with OSS?
"lspci | grep audio" returns both soundcards:
00:1f.5 Multimedia audio controller: Intel Corporation 82801EB/ER (ICH5/ICH5R) AC'97 Audio Controller (rev 02)
01:00.0 Multimedia audio controller: Creative Labs CA0106 Soundblaster
"ossdetect -v" returns:
Detected Sound Blaster Audigy LS / Live7.1
Detected Intel AC97 (ICH5)
USB support available in the system, adding USB driver
Detected Generic USB audio/MIDI device (BETA)
I use "soundoff" and "soundon", then "osstest":
Sound subsystem and version: OSS 4.1 (b 1052/200903241101) (0x00040100)
Platform: Linux/i686 2.6.29-ARCH #1 SMP PREEMPT Wed Apr 8 12:47:56 UTC 2009

Basically it seems like it detects the crappy onboard sound (which is unusable, I stress) and not my soundcard. I really don't know how to fix/configure this and sound is really important to me if I'll be using Arch.
Thanks for any help offered, if more information about something is needed I'll be more than happy to oblige.I would start by disabling the on board sound in your BIOS if you are not going to use it. As a novice user much of the documentation kind of covers the simpler case and this might help you navigate them better.
Keep in mind the Audigy SE is not a real Audigy (like Audigy 2 which has very good linux support). If you are just looking for straightforward playback you should have no trouble, but you will not get hardware mixing with SE IIRC. -

Therock500It really depends on what you're doing and your speaker configuration.
If it is cheap in comparison to other price checking, it may be worth it.
I have the exats same board and used the onboard sound for a few months until I got sick of it not doing what I was used to like the MCP-T southbridge of the NF1 & 1 (Soundstorm) I wasn't using digital out and I have the speakers in my signature. With my TV card, I was unable to get sound in all 4 speakers correctly and I was unable to control the bass. I had tried both the drivers from the CD and the latest Realtek drivers.
I just did not like it much at all so I had a SB live 5.1 card I had lying on a shelf. I downloaded the latest drivers with the same skepticism as TireSmoke has. My findings are that the drivers have greatly improved and you don't have to install the bloated utilities that are associated with Creative drivers. It worked the way I wanted it to for the most part without any issue.
What I found is the onboard sound seems a little deeper and warmer as opposed to the Creative solution but I was willing to give that up for the functionality. The Creative sounds a little stronger in the midrange and highs and the Bass was just slightly muted but still acceptable.
I then graduated to the Audigy 2 ZS in my signature and the sound is slightly better and I have to say that Creative is doing a better job with the drivers. I did install with all the options just to see what impact it all has. I have to say, my only complaint is the look and feel of the interfaces still look a little cheesy but I have the option to disable most of that or simply not install any of it except the drivers.
