Creative sound card

Please can someone help and give me some advice - i am curently using the Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS -through the pci cardport for music and audio music recording. I bought a replacement laptop but don't have the pci card port to use the same sound card but have an express card port instead, does anyone know if Creative have another type of card for this slot but will do the same quality sound editing/recording job as the Blaster Audigy 2 ZS? Also need to be compatible with O/S Window Vista. Please help, much appreciated!!!!

Information is scarce for end of service life products, you might want to read about the specs here. Alternatively you might want to consider this model instead but you may need to do some searching since it's not available in the UK online store.

  • Creative sound cards and iTunes static

Okay, after having looked through the messages here it looks like everyone who has said they are having a problem with the static/audio distortion (unless the volume slider is set to 100%) are using Creative sound cards.
It looks like a number of us are even using the latest drivers and that doesn't seem to help.
Just to get an idea -- is anyone having this problem and NOT running a Creative sound card?

I have an Audigy 2 ZS Notebook, and it was doing the static/distortion thing after I upgraded. What I did to fix it was to set QuickTime to output sound as 16-bit instead of 24-bit. It's really funny because the soundcard is set to 24-bit mode...

I thought I'd share my most recent visitation of the digital poltergeist that is the Audigy 2 SB024x.
I was looking around my WinXP system panel and noticed that some program had changed the PERFORMANCE->ADVANCED->MEMORY USAGE from PROGRAMS (default) to SYSTEM CACHE.
Keep in mind as I detail this to you that this build is only a week old, and I've installed very few programs on it, drivers and test utilities mostly...
Anyway, I change the setting back to the default value (PROGRAMS) and hit OKAY. That very instant, the machine reported detecting new hardware, an Audigy! Given that I already had an A2 installed and mostly functional, this came as quite a revelation.
I checked the Device Manager, and sure enough, there it was. An Audigy was indicated as having been installed in the place of the newer model.
I reboot the computer, and when I revisit the Device Manager, the Audigy2 is back, BUT there is a problem (ROLMAO), the card's firewire adapter is all of the sudden marked as broken, so I uninstall it and reboot.
The machine goes through its startup, and I check the firewire and its okay, NOW, in Device Manager. Good, me thinks.
Then I go back and run 3DMark03, looking for my error message: FMOD error in FSOUND_SetPaused: Not enough memory
The benchmark completes without incident three times and the problem is solved. No more messing with my memory timings or sound accelartion. Hurrah!
In closing, I want to apologize to anyone whose patience that I may have tested with this mini-testament.
I have no idea why this series of cards http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDetail.jsp?ProductCode=290217 is so difficult to configure for the K8N, but its really kind of a nightmare, IMO, and MSI really needs to take a look at it.
Please guys, there is a problem here, so would you please check it out for us.
    Thanks,
    Moe

  • Programmatic Control of X-FI ??? // Two Creative Sound Cards on Same PC ???

The pc about below is currently running WinXP, but I plan to replace it with a Vista based machine in early?200.
1] Can someone please point me in the right directions? I would like to use something like an API or some other interface method to control the volume level of the X-FI usb device. Hopefully to be able to control the volume of?each of the 5 channels independently as well as the master volume. In other words,?have a dotNET program (or VB script, etc etc) that will interface with the X-FI via something running on the same pc. I would prefer it to interface with one of the SoundBlaster or Creative softwares so as to not reinvent any wheels, but that is an option. The simpler the better. I don't need anything fancy and probably just the controlling the volume?levels will work fine.
Alternately, it might be possible to control the X-FI with an IR remote, but I am not aware of IR functionality in? the X-FI.
2] I am also wondering: How do I run two different Creative sound cards on the same pc without issues? The rational for this is that I want to improve the sound quality of our home theater pc to 7. Creative quality level, but I need the X-FI to control audio for the home automation software that runs on the same pc. The home automation software generates Text To Speech audio which does not need to flow through the high quality Creative sound card. I was hoping to use the X-FI in a simple mode to route the TTS speech audio out to 4 or 5 sets of speakers as monaural voice. During different occupancy times and night time, its very useful to lower the volume level (especially upstairs when sleeping).
I have a hunch the X-FI would be a truly awesome device to use for this purpose. There are many other people who would like to do this same thing. It would be nice to have a device like the X-FI that is widely available.
Thanks much for any and all help. Sorry if this is so 'newbie', but I just don;t know how to start.

If anyone has had this happen to them before or if anyone has any possible remedies for this I would really appreciate, if this doesnt help im done with creative sound cards =/
[edit]: forgot to mention this is only for the audio jacks on the sound card itself, on the ZS platinum pro, when i connect to the jack on the hub, the sound is alrightMessage Edited by mrkuku on 06-2-2005 06:36 AM

figured out my problem, my built in sound card drivers were conflicting with the creative drivers. Thought that if i turned off the built in sound card from bios that i wouldn't need to delete the drivers also. Thanks for any that read this and tried to figure it out. Now its working like a charm.

  • P6N Diamond - Creative Sound Card / Windows 7

    Hello everyone,
Couldn't find anyone else with a similar issue so figured I'd post here. I'm using a P6N Diamond (obviously) and here's the issue:
Originally this PC had Windows XP installed. When I upgrade to Windows 7 x64 Pro(1-2 months ago), my computer became unable to recognize the integrated Creative sound card. I've tried the following:
1.) Using provided driver discs (Using Vista x64 drivers, closest match)
2.) Downloading various Creative programs, drivers, etc. to add drivers
3.) Checked MSI's site and downloaded various drivers, updates etc.
None of the following worked. I primarly use a USB headset, which works perfectly. However, I'd like to be able to use speakers as well (used to be able to do it when Windows found my soundcard).
Anyone have any ideas for resolving this? I really appreciate any help, thanks!

If I follow you correctly, this problem only starts after you have upgraded to Windows 7, right? If that is the case, it is obviously a driver issue. Though you have tried many drivers and it seems that they are not the right ones. What you can do is to try contact MSI support and see if they can help you.

  • Can someone recommend me a good creative sound card for listening to music

    Hi all,
I am thinking to buy a Creative sound card for my new PC.
I have browsed the Creative web site but found out that there are just too many options for me to choose from, like X-FI, e-MuRecon3D Fatal1ty Champion, Recon3D PCIe, E-MU 1212M PCIe.
I have no idea which one is the best for me since I like listening to music.
    Please give me some advice.
    Thanks
    Kitty.

It's ultimately going to depend on how particular you are, and what output you're going to be using.
Arguably the X-Fi Titanium HD will give the clearest output of the whole lot. A measurable 122dB SNR means you'll basically have to turn it up to the threshold of pain before you'll hear any noise produced by the card itself. That doesn't mean there won't be any noise at all in the output - just that the card realistically won't add any that didn't already exist in the source material. Further to this, when run in Entertainment mode you'll also have access to the THX enhancements over the standard Creative ones, which I personally find to be substantially better in actual listening. The EMI shield and changeable op-amps are just gravy.
Of course, there's always fine print. The 122dB SNR only applies to the front outputs, for example. That's not to say the rest aren't very good - they're rated at between 115dB and 118dB - just that they aren't as good. Odds are you won't really care but its still worth mentioning. The other major limitation (in my opinion) is the absence of a good headphone pre-amplifier, but that may or may not be a non-issue depending on whether you use headphones or already have an external one (or, like me, you feel inclined to make your own to solve that limitation).
The other good option would be the Recon3D. I wouldn't bother going with any of the upper market ones for music (or for any reason, for that matter) unless the front drive bay or directional microphone are of any particular importance to you (NB I bought the Fatal1ty Champion edition - still not entirely sure why). An argument could be made for the EMI shield, but with so few components on the board it probably isn't stopping a whole heap of noise anyway over the miniature "shield" on the SPU itself. When compared in raw specs to the Titanium HD, at a glance it would appear to be vastly inferior - 102dB SNR ratio (albeit constant across all outputs) is quite a bit lower, after all.
However, it's important to keep in mind exactly what that means. 102dB SNR still means you'll have to turn the volume up quite a bit to get any extra noise added to your output. You're talking around the volume of a power saw at a little over 3 feet, so realistically it's quite loud - and it's over the level which is generally considered to cause hearing loss with sustained exposure (95dB). You also have to remember that this doesn't apply to the S/PDIF outputs (nor does the HD's 122dB) since they're entirely at the mercy of whatever decoder you're using, so if you're using that output than the extra expense of the HD is pretty much entirely wasted. And, as a major plus, all Recon3D cards have what seems to be a pretty decent headphone pre-amp, which makes a very appreciable difference in listening, as well as supporting the various THX enhancements.
    The short version:
    - If you're listening mostly via stereo analogue speakers, get the Titanium HD.
    - If you're listening mostly via headphones, get the Recon3D (I personally think the pre-amp is better than the higher SNR).
    - If you're listening mostly via S/PDIF to an external amp, it doesn't matter (but get the Recon3D because it's cheaper).

  • List of creative sound cards that support 5.1 ,older and new

Title says it all as I'm looking to purchase(new or used) creative 5. sound card. I'm unsure as to what older models support 5.,it's for a friend and I want to make sure he gets the right one.Li've,Audigy or other?I don't need one with all the bells and whistles just one that supports 5.. Thanks.

    I'm afraid 11b is affected.
    I have a D-Link DSL 604+ router, which is 11b only.
Wireless is very slow, I noticed it right away. I get the sawtooth readout in activity monitor's network section.
Also, after putting the iMac to sleep it cannot find my wifi network upon waking. I have to restart the system before it'll connect to my wifi network again.

  • Latest Update Causes Problem with Creative Sound Card?

I installed the latest Quicktime update (7.3.1) and Windows Media Player would no longer work, giving me a message that my sound card (Creative Sound Blaster Audigy) was broken. I ran the sound card diagnostics and indeed it failed several of the the test (particularly wav files). I also tried streaming music via my XM radio subscription and that also did not work.
I reverted my system to its previous state (before the Quicktime update) with Norton GoBack, and now everything works again.
Anyone have a similar problem? Is this a bug or perhaps was there a glitch in the installation that caused this?
    Thanks,
    wasaguru

I'm not having that problem, but I am having a problem of my computer being locked up once it goes into sleep mode.

  • Want To Purchase Creative Sound card(XFi, Audigy Series) plz sugg

Hi,I want to purchase a new sound card. but i am confused with the wide range of creative products. my purpose of purchasing new sound card is music & games.please can u suggest which card i should purchase. i have creative 6. sound system. these are the list of sound card please suggest me which one to buy :-.X-Fi Elite Pro2.X-Fi Fatalty3.X-Fi Platinum4.X-Fi XtremeMusic5.Audigy 46.Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS.
I want a sound card which has digital output, so that i can upgrade my speaker later.
    ThanksManish

Audigy 2 ZS provides best cost/performance ratio. It is suitable for all modern games and delviers great gaming audio experience. X-Fi is waste of money. These card are good, yes but too expensi've and are not so powerful as Creative claims. Oh, and they come with awful software with no updates. Nevermind crappy MediaSource...
X-RAM is useless. There is not a single one evidence of claimed by Creative Labs performance gain when X-RAM is being used. Correct me with a link for any review if you like. Oh, and good luck with looking for one.Message Edited by crazyandlazy on -24-200606:29 PM
