Creative Soundblaster Extigy External & Logitech Z-5

I have the above sound card and speaker system and I'm wondering if using an optical cable that goes from the extigy to the speaker system is a good way to hook the two up. I have no idea if optical cables are all the same and want to know if I can purchase any optical cable that will work. Any advice will greatly help me. ThanksDennis

  • Logitech z5500 and creative soundblaster l

Hi All?I have had the creative soundblaster li've for sometime and jsut decided to buy a set of 5. thx speakers. After alot of reading i decided to go for the logitech z5500 as they apealed to me the most. But i have one problem I am using the triple audio stereo cable to connect the speakers to my soundcard, when i perform a test through the creative software it only detects the left and right speakers. Is there something im doing wrong here cause it would be nice when performing a test that all speakers are detected. But the sound seems to be there and sounds good?Hope someone can help!!

Yeah, cant anyone answer this. I have the exact same problem here(except I am using Audigy 2 ZS). I reinstalled the drivers and software 3 times, still, same. As a matter of fact, ever since I updated the drivers, the sound quality has gone down.....How is it that Winamp would be able to send sound to all my speakers yet, the utility for the card wouldn't ? Makes no sense at all !! Anyone wants to try to make sense of this.

  • Creative Soundblaster Live! 24-Bit External card - noise in right chan

<!-- google_ad_section_start -->I have a Creative Soundblaster Li've! 24-Bit External card installed on a Dell XPS 40 with 2GB RAM and Windows XP to replace integrated sound that came with the system, a sound problem developed recently that I never noticed before, there is a popping sound in the right channel which isnt loud but noticeable when no other audio is playing, the sound is a fast popping sound like a idling engine, Ive tried updating the Nvidia video drivers, uninstalling software that may have caused conflicts, looking in the bios, I also tried uninstalling the Creative drivers and before installing the drivers again when the system booted and detected the new hardware I could hear the popping noise without any drivers loaded yet, nothing has helped this problem, does anyone have any suggestions of what is causing the noise? Thanks for any helpMessage Edited by Gary040 on -5-2008 07:38 AM

Yes exactly as you mentioned. I have SoundBlaster Li've! 24-Bit Internal and facing the same problem. All is working very good, but only sound in WOW is terrible: it's muffled, degraded and seems to runs only in 22khz.
It is a big irony because i bought this card only for WoW to replace my onboard card and now the old one sounds much better in WoW as the new SB
    Anyone with help?
Now it seems that I return my card like you... and people from creative, think about it! WoW is most played game ever!Message Edited by magnetique on 0-06-2006 :24 AM

  • Urgent Help! DVD distorted sound with Creative 5.1 External

    Hi there
new to this board, i recently purchased the Creative Soundblaster Li've! 24bit 5. External Card and am having difficulties playing a DVD. Whatever program I use, i get some serious distorted 'hiss' sound throughout the movie. Any DVD does this. and its only DVDs, other movie and audio files are fine. If i disconnect the external card and just use my original on-bard card, it works fine too.
Any idea how to fix this?
    Thanks

    ishiiyuto,
As I understand it, the USB port doesn't have enough badwidth to handle DVDs with AC3 sound. See the post by Jeremy-CL here.

  • Screeching sounds in games and other problems with Soundblaster live extern

Okay i have the USB external Creative soundblaster li've sound card. i have had a few problems. My first problem is When im in games such as Americas Army i get random Screeches like a tin can being scraped on concrete. My 2nd problem is Talking with my mic. For others to hear me MONITORING has to be enabled, there for i hear myself out of my own speakers as well. I have done everything to try and fix this, i've tried updating drivers, rolling back drivers, using windows automatic drivers. Is there an option i dont see that is causing my card to not sound good? I am using a 2.0 speaker configuration, and i only play the games with headphones on.
    please help.
thanks for your time.Message Edited by Zombeh on 0-6-2006 08:30 AM

You waited 24 hours and gave up? So I'll offer this for anybody else who reads the thread. I have a USB external SB card, but it's in a box somewhere. But IIRC, the Volume Controls work similar to other SB cards. In Volume Controls, Playback, mute the Microphone. In Volume Controls, Recording, select Microphone. This should let you "record" without hearing it on your speakers. Now if a game sets the mixer options for itself, that complicates things. If allowed, choose game audio options similar to these Volume Controls.

I am running Windows 7 Build 6956 x86. In general everything is running smooth, and no driver problems as well, except my soundcard Creative Soundblaster X-FI XtremeMusic. I downloaded the official Vista drivers, but it does not install my drivers. If I try XP/Vista compatibility Mode, I get an error message, So has anyone has any idea on how to get these Creative drivers working?
I even extracted the drivers using 7zip, but still no luck when i try to install via device manager...

Thanks, but i got it to work, even the surround sound as wll, all features working, just like it worked on vista. btw am using beta build 7000 nw.
Just download the latest drivers and applications, and install all the creative drivers and applications using the vista compatiblity mode, and everything will work fine.

  • Creative SoundBlaster Live! 5.1 Digital driver update - wont wo

Hello I've had this problem for as long as I can remember. I have already searched the forum in hope that I would find a solution. I didn't.
Ok, this is how it is. About two years ago I bought computer parts which I assembled together and "Creative SoundBlaster Li've! 5. Digital RETAIL PCI" was one of them.
I have tried every single driver you have under your support page and none of them will work! I always get the message:
"Setup could not detect any Sound Blaster Audio card on your system.
Please ensure that your Sound Blaster hardware is properly installed before running this Setup program.
    Setup will now exit."
Right. All drivers gives me this. I know that you guys will probably ask after the serial number now but I'm too lazy to check at the very moment and I know that the serial check will be a SB Li've! 5. digital card anyway so I don't see how that would solve this issue you are having with your, sorry to say this, outdated installs.
The card is installed correctly in the device manager as "Creative SB Li've! series". And how come I can install it from the CD but not from your internet drivers?
I'm using Windows 2000 Professional with service pack 4 by the way.
Is there a chance these installs wont work with latest service packs, that they were designed for earlier service packs and Microsoft maybe changed the way to detect hardware in later service packs?
I'd appreciate any help I can get because I really need to update my drivers, I got a small sound problem now it seems (soundeffects volume goes down and there is a bit of distortion when it's too many of the same sound playing - or when a soundeffect is to loud).
Thanks for a great card in general, I'm going to buy (I don't remember the name now) one of those new cards later on - that is suposed to be over 4 times better than the previous soundblaster cards? .

Hmm, the install extracts files but not in the current directory or in windows temp. How would I extract the content from the install file so I can patch it's
EDIT: I extracted it with winrar and I got the following files:
    data.cab
    data.hdr
    data2.cab
    Diagnose.cab
    disk.id
    Driver.cab
    ikernel.ex_
    layout.bin
    PC3.cab
    Setup.exe
    Setup.ini
    setup.inx
    Wstudio.cab
I know there should have been some sort of audio folder here but I didn't find any, so I tried the program and it said patch applied and all that. I try to run setup.exe and it will still not work. Probably because I'm doing it all wrong :P.Message Edited by Ice_ on 06-5-2006 04: AM
EDIT2: Ok I got several driver files so I just extracted "Li'veDrvUni-Pack(ENG).exe" to C:\sb\ and ran the tool as you described. I could launch the install without problems. By the way, Li'veDrvUni-Pack(ENG).exe is containing the latest drivers as well right? So I dont need to do this with "Li'veDrvPack_Patch.exe" as well?
Thanks!Message Edited by Ice_ on 06-5-2006 04:5 AM

  • Creative SoundBlaster X-Fi Fatal1ty FPS - Major Problem - RMA Ti

hello. i have been having major problems with my Creative SoundBlaster X-Fi Fatalty soundcard.i have had it since march 2007 and was fine for a couple of months, very pleased with it.?but it has now got to the stage where it will not boot my pc if the card is installed.i have done my best to see it working again. but one moment it will work.?next moment i will turn my pc on. the pc will not post/boot so i have to take the soundcard out in order for the pc to actually boot into windows. i have sent in a RMA request from ebuyer.?but im quite sad that the card is very poorly designed via the pins on the back that connects to the internal dri've bay addon. i believe that the pins are causing the card to not boot the pc. as its very easy for the pins to get bent.?i would love to know if anyone else had or is having a simular problem with this card?i have been looking for a replacement now. and after searching for awhile it would seem they released a Auzentech X-Fi Prelude 7. Sound Card but after checking the card it looks like they still have the poorly designed pins on the back of the card again... [color="#ff0000"]should i wait for a upgrade... [color="#ff0000"]or buy the Auzentech X-Fi Prelude 7. Sound Card?as the card i originaly own is now discontinued from ebuyer. regards, Cezare

I also checked the HP site (the manufacturer of my motherboard) for a BIOS update, did that too. Also, somewhere else on this site there's a post about IRQ's, and how to fix those errors, and I tried that, but I cant find most of the things, like the 'Assign IRQ to USB', 'USB Legacy Support' and 'USB Keyboard Support'.
    That would be

I also tried uninstalling the device, and then re-install, but that didnt work either.
In the devices manager, it states, under other devices, that my Multimedia Audio Controller isnt working, as is my PCI Input Device (they have a yellow questionmark next to them). I've tried to install those drivers countless times, but it cant find any of the drivers, and uninstalling doesnt work either.
(This device is not configured correctly. (Code ))
I'd appreciate it very much if you could help me with this. I've been thinking of buying a new soundcard, but I listened to music this morning, and I cant imagine that it would break down so fast. I've been trying to find a solution for 7 hours now, and still nothing, nothing on the internet at all about this has worked for me. Its a good card too, so I dont want to get a new one
    Thanks in advance

  • Creative Soundblaster Audigy 2 Zs help

Before I start rambling on about my problem here are my specs (BTW I'm not incredibly computer literate; my dad helped me install everything before I left for school):Cpu: Intel Duo Processor 2.66 GhzRAM: .5 GB DDR2Video Card: ATI Radeon 9600 (soon to be one of their newer models)OS: Windows XPSound Card: Creative Soundblaster Audigy 2 ZS?Ok so I was reinstalling everything after I had to format my computer. I get through installing my creative sound card and figure everything went great. I was playing my music when I had realized that I forgot to configure my sound card for them, as I was getting mono instead of stereo (was only playing out of left speakers). So I go into speaker setup and click on "calibrate speakers" or something like that. Anyway, the speaker calibrator says that It could not be ran for some reason (i forget). I figure that it wasn't working because I hadn't updated anything yet. I update, and I still get the same message. So I reinstalled the software and updated it again and now when I try to run ANY of my creative software related to the sound card (I.E. EAX console, Speaker Setup) it says that "The Audio device supported by this software is not detected. The Application will now shut down."? Now remember that I'm not great with computers, so my solution now will probably sound stupid. But anyways I figured that I had installed the wrong sound card software (it gives me three choices on the disc). I uninstall everything and choose another setting. I still got the same problem. So I try the third choice and I get the same problem. Any suggestions? I've tried all three choices and I still get the same problem.

    Hi
You may first need to patch the driver package by using ctcomp.exe to get std. drivers (eg. not Dell specific) installed to your Dell PC. Search this forum after ctcomp.exe --> there you'll find some instructions too.
You can also find a link to the latest drivers available (I personally use Audigy 4 drivers from november 2005 --> can be found from creative support pages) by searching this forum (I think the latest WHQL version is .~62 for the original version).

  • Creative SoundBlaster Audigy Advanced MB software activation probl

Hello!?I bought?a software named Creative SoundBlaster Audigy Advanced MB, when I ordered my notebook Inspiron 720 from DELL, on the 8th? of September, 2007. They provided a CD for the software, which I installed, and it worked. But then later that day (when I recieved the laptop), I formatted the hard-disk for the following reasons - ) It only had 2 partitions for the entire dri've, one of which was a recovery partition, and I wanted to create more.2) I wanted to remove MediaDirect.3) I wanted to remove bloatware that DELL gave me with it, ie, DELL Quickset, DELL Support, DELL this, DELL that, Norton AntiVirus etc.4) I wanted Vista installed by my way. After I had done everything I wanted, I started to re-install the Creative software, the same way like I did before. But this time, when it took me to the transaction page and asked me for the reason of re-installing this software, it said "The CD Key has expired."?I have tried 2 different browsers,?I have cleared my cache, I have penta-checked my CD-Key before each install and have done anything a Computer Software engineer (me) would do, with the help of the Internet as well. But my every effort went in vain. Then, I did something I didn't want to do, I contact DELL technical support. Their solutions ranged from installing the latest drivers (yes, drivers for a software), to removing and re-installing the latest Internet Explorer (yes, they asked me to REMOVE IE) to put the HARDWARE in some other machine. Quite clearly, the 4 support executi'ves I talked to there at DELL had no clue as to what is going on and what is the problem. Then, after a 2 hours chat with another one of them, I was told that they just provide the software, and it is Creative's duty to handle everything later and asked me to talk to you. The email support page do not have the option of support for this software, so I selected some other product but sent my problem.
It would be very nice to know if there exists a solution to this problem, and how should I approach it. It has only been 20 days since I bought this software. Thank you!

Finally, I got a reply from the email team, and they sought some further information, which I duly provided. Then, they provided me with a new CD Key. But here is the thing, they say after 3 times of re-installing the software, I will have to pay for it. What? Why would I pay for something which I bought, again and again? The whole world knows about Windows Vista, how incompatible it is with more than 80% of the software, and it will be the same till SP is released. I have since this Sunday gone have re-installed vista 4 times, once due to the fact that AHCI in the BIOS was not enabled by default, and I had to re-do the installation, then it was SATA drivers not presentonthe Vists disk, then the nVidia drivers had problem with Vista and it crippled it and won't go and then the Windows Media Player , quite clearly still not fully functionable, made my system bust. And I can say that it will happen again, so why do I have to pay some part of the software's price again? I am not using it on any other machine, and that is checked by it's CRC checker anyways, I am not using it for any business project, which shouldn't be a problem even if I did, as I own it. If any of you guys have an answer to this, please let me know.
Thank you, and have a very nice day all!
