  • Creative soundcards not supported!? FME 3.0

    Hi,
For some strange reason, the new flash media live encoder
does not support both of my soundcards - one is a creative
soundblaster audigy 2 zs, and the other one is a
    creative Sb X-fi.
How can this be? They were supported in 2.5, but not 3.
What's worse is that it supports my onboard soundmax, but not a
    good quality creative soundcard.
I've tried to find out who to contact to report this. Does
anyone have any ideas or the same issues?
Creative is the most popular brand that I'm aware of, how can
    this be?
    Thanks,

  • Solution for 5.1 digital speakers(like inspire5500/5700..)and creative soundcards! IT WOR

I have inspire 5500D that have the same problems than yours ...
the problem is that the digital outputs does not support more than a 2. or coded signals like ac3 (for DD) and theres no way to make it work .... is just imposible ...
now ure question is and what should i do ?
well first of all u should be like me ... really ungry with creative ! HOW CAN THEY SELL SOUNDCARDS INCOMPATBLE WITH THEIR OWN SPEAKERS IS INCREDIBLE ! (example Inspire 5500D/5700D ... incompatible with sbli've 5.D (and all the rest of creative soundcards...) is a joke ?) ....
theres only one solution to youre problem ... and is a pain ! i have done it and now it works perfectly ! here it goes :
Forget u have an external decode .... u must plug the 3 cables (front/rear/center) that now goes to youre decoder, directly to youre soundcard ! (and keeps the external decoder on since is the only way to mantain electricity in youre speakers...) then u will have analogic speakers ! all works great ! but im really ungry that my external decoder that cost much more than a simple analogic speakers is just totally unusefull ...
Now listen youre system now will work really better ! with cmss-3d and THX config u will not remember youre external decoder ! loud rear speakers ? not more .... no 5. in games ? no more ....
Creative digital speakers for PC is just a waste of money ! (good work creative ...)
This repair ALL so u must have REAL 5. in DVD (using soundcard decoder), games, and all kind of applications! (if the sound is in 5. of course ! if not u will still hear envolvent sound thanks tu cmss-3d) so If any needs help about this just ask in this post ....

  • Creative Soundcard Bug Thread

After spending a week and 3 - 4 hours a day trying to get my X-Fi Titanium Pro to work I have given up. My X-Fi card is now in the trash and I'm now running my onboard Realtek chip for sound. Just for the record I won't be buying any Creative products in the future unless Creative gets it together - actually I won't be buying any soundcards at all. Simply because I'm beginning to think it's actually a waste of money. Considering the many standards such as DirectSound (killed in Vista and 7), OpenAL, EAX, inhouse produced audio engines in games - I think that the overall best solution here and now is actually onboard audio. The main reason being poor driver support especially from Creative and the fact that many games is without EAX etc.
Anywayl - let's get to it!
"Rules" - this thread is for collecting all kinds of bugs with Creative soundcards and related drivers/software. This thread is not for discussing solutions or any other kind of discussion. This thread is only for bug reporting. Hopefully this thread?will grow large enough so even Creative can't avoid seeing it. Please be as specific as possible in your reports so this thread doesn't end up being a huge pile of crap.
This is my last post here at the Creative forum - please make good use of this thread. I will look at it from time to time.
Best of luck to all - and may the force be with us all.
    FIRE AWAY!

  • The state of Creative X-Fi Soundcards/Driv

I have been using and recommending Sound Blaster cards since the original was released back in the '80's (or was it early '90's)? Without exception all of my cards and associated drivers have been flawless... until now.
    Yes, I'm a sufferer of the dreaded Screech-Of-Death (http://forums.creative.com/creativelabs/board/message?board.id=soundblaster&message.id=76653&vie w=by_date_ascending).
A this point in time, I'm disappointed rather than annoyed (or worse) with the current level of support from Creative and the fact that they seem so closed to outside help to resolve this (see: Linux X-Fi drivers).
Creative, I don't think anyone here (or any other forum) has any major issue with your hardware. It's all top quality gear that produces good quality audio for the general public who want something better than on-board audio. However, the quality of your drivers and/or major compatibility issues have let you and by extension your customers down.
This is an area where we can ALL work together to improve this situation. I personally would donate a large portion of my limited free time to help diagnose this problem. I, like many others, would gladly help craft new drivers for both Windows & Linux.
Yes, I know there are a number of areas that a proprietary that you would not wish to expose to any outside party. This is totally understandable and expected for any business, but surely you can allow some access to the basic sound functions of the X-Fi? The more advanced features (DTS decoding, EAX, CMSS, etc...) could be implemented as extensions to the core sound driver.
So I implore you Creative, OpenSource your Windows and Linux drivers (keep the proprietary bits as extensions) and tap into the richest development group on the planet; your customers. The you're engineers can focus on what they do best: create hardware!
Please do not get me wrong, I hold value Creative and it's brand in the highest of regards. It is this respect and a long history of using your innovation SoundCards that I make this suggestion. Creative, as a company, has di'versitifed significantly over the years and as such building sound drivers is not as high a priority as it used to be. This is OK, I don't blame anyone for this.
Creative, please work with us all here to make the Creative Soundcard hardware and driver combination the best in the business! It's the least you can do for you loyal customers.
    Regards,
    The Shadow
    Proud Creative X-Fi owner
PS, sorry about getting long winded... I do that when I passionate about something. :$

I'd love to get a Xonar,  but alas the D2X doesn't have front panel audio, and the STX is really made only for high end headphones.  I'm interested in the HDAV Deluxe though, out of the Asus series. I just wish it wasn't so expensive!  B, do you know if the Asus HDMI will work in Linux without bad picture or sound quality? I'm pretty close to ruling out the Auzen HomeTheater because it relies on software like CyberDVD for a lot of its features.   I'm still considering...
Xonar (D2X, HDAV1.3 Deluxe, Maybe Essence ST or STX?) - Some say the Xonars are the best cards around right now, both for Linux and Windows. I'd really be fine with the D2X, but I'd like to have front panel audio connections for headphones/headsets that can operate independently or instead of the other outputs/inputs
HT Omega (Claro Plus+, Halo XT) - I hear these have awesome sound quality, but the drivers are ancient. At least this won't be a problem in Linux!
Auzen Forte 7.1 with the Titanium Drive. I wish some other high end sound card offered a big front panel audio connection suite for users, not exclusively for creation.

  • Creative Alchemy new card?

I have some problems with alchemy and my xtreme music card.
Is there a new card available for Vista that works fine with DirectSound3D without Alchemy?

    Perhaps...
    This is their opinion: http://forum.jowood.com/showthread.php?t=2427&page=35
"Known issue that Creative soundcards cause bad performance for this game. Not our problem! Creative should stop screwing around for once and produce proper drivers."
I believe that Creative have some bad drivers that need fixing!
    I'm finished with Creative products!

  • My company will no longer purchase Creative produ

I am a purchasing manager for a mid-sized technology company. My duties include, among other things, authorizing the procurement of computers for new-hires, replacements, lending to sub-contractors in a variety of countries, et cetera. All in all, we buy at least 20-30 computers a week (laptops included). Not a huge purchaser by any means, but not small either.
We will no longer include creative soundcards (or any other creative products) in our purchasing decisions. Previously I recommended Creative products as a good alternati've to iPODs, but I will discontinue that as well.
I have owned Creative products for many years, and I have seen their drivers become increasingly worse. I know the reason for this as well.
Sound Cards are becoming a commodity market. A modern soundcard produces negligibly better sound than cards 4 or 5 years ago. In fact, I still regularly install SoundBlaster 6s and Montego Turtle Beach IIs in warehouse computers. They produce adequate sound and are rock solid. The only way to keep it a premium market is by creating a premium market. Even audiophiles will tell you that anything beyond 7. surround is not only absurd, it may actually hurt the sound quality if not configured precisely. So where does a premium manufacturer go after producing a quality 7. surround card--into the world of IP law apparently. I digress.
I understand that Vista introduced some significant hurdles to soundcard driver development by bringing many things inside kernel-space. Life is tough. A quality manufacturer, with a quality product could easily negotiate those hurdles.
I will not name my company here because this is not a company policy or battle. I am, however, in a position to enforce it. I will reconsider my decision only once I see an adequate response from Creative.
    Thank you
    - Doug
*edit* - The prompt for this decision is not Creative's announced policy towards 3rd-party development, it is their policy towards 3rd-parties and intentional omission of a legal substitute. I do not license sound cards, I buy sound card hardware and I have every reasonable expectation that it will do what it is supposed to do on any platform I am able to get a driver for.
I do not intend to fuel knee-jerk outbursts here. This is a personal and professional decision. I am required increasingly to support Windows Vista (alongside XP, 2000, Mac OS(s), Linux, Solaris), and this creates difficulties for me. I have been burned personally by Creative support in the past and can no longer recommend them.
Message Edited by Doug_W on 03-3-2008 :36 AM

If spamming continues here, I will take down my public post and, instead, submit it privately to Creative.
I only posted here to let people know that these types of actions, while perfectly reasonable from a legal standpoint, affect the decisions of companies as well. Being a corporate environment, we do not buy a significant number of high end sound cards.
But we do buy a few. We buy Creative keyboards and microphones and cameras. We recommend what products the CEOs and VPs and dock workers buy for their daughters and wi'ves and nephews. Anyone who has worked in IT knows exactly who employees turn to when making a purchasing decision regarding technology.
I personally own a Soundblaster X-Fi. I also own a Soundblaster platinum Extigy. The Extigy was a sore disappointment from an ease-of-use perspecti've (this coming from a person with Linux on his laptop for the last few years). I had heard the X-Fi was a solid product, but it has again failed to impress me.
Being vocal about things like this is important but, equally important, is dialogue. My hope in posting this is not to dri've Creative out of business, but rather to impress upon them the signal they are sending to their customers. I hope they respond positi'vely, not negati'vely, but we should encourage them to do so.

  • Microphone won't work for Creative Live for Notebook

Okay, so i bought the webcam and that works great, but I went to use the microphone and i can't get it to work at all! I've plugged it correctly, and I can hear my computer through the earpiece but I can't get my computer to hear me!! Any ideas?

    ojos_delangel,
That depend on what type of soundcard you have and what software it comes bundled with. If you have a Creative soundcard, you can check those volumes via the Creative Surround Mixer software. If not, you can go to Control Panel->Sounds and Audio devices->Audio tab. Under Sound recording, make sure the correct sound device is selected. Next click at the volume button and make sure the microphone is selected and ain't muted. Also, you might want to do a simple sound recording test via the Start->Accessories->Entertainment->Sound Recorder.

  • Creative Media Source Player not fo

Hi... I am lost & confused!!!! I purchased a new hard dri've & motherboard. I reinstalled my audigy 2zs card & loaded the install disk. To my suprise media player did not load...in fact I can't even find it on the original install disk!! I used the media player all the time and even plugged in my old hard dri've and behold..media player was on that hard dri've!! Can anybody tell me why it is not appearing on the original install disk whenin fact it was there when I loaded it the first time I purchased the card? It appears everything else will load off the install disk EXCEPT media source player.

There are differences in the details of how the various Creative soundcards work, and it would help me if I knew which one you have. I get the impression it came in the computer, and you don't actually know the answer. Where exactly are you trying to select what u hear? The Creative Media Source Player program (I've not used it, but it seems odd for a "player" program to do recording)? The mixer program? Which mixer, Windows or Creative's?

  • What soundcard actually works in Vista x

Is there any Creative soundcards that work at all in Vista x64 without problems?
A card that i can just install with no fuss and then it works?
I bought a Audigy SE and it is almost impossible to get to work.
I read some of the guides how ppl copy their CD's and modify files ect.
Are there no cards that actually work?
I read ppl who got X-Fi but still have problems, X-Fi is the newest?

LoL, afraid you'll have to go to **competitor** for a soundcard with all it's features enabled in Vista.
My X-fi works fine in Entertainment mode, but put it in Game mode & start any EAX game and it crashes out with looping sound.
The much vaunted CMSS 3D doesn't work in Vista 64, and dolby decoding is still missing.
Vista was only released 8 months ago after a year of public beta's, can't expect Creative to release working drivers so quickly can we!

  • No 5.1 sound in games with Creative digital speakers

    Hi,
is it true that you can't use 5.1 sound in games with a Creative soundcard and Creative digital speakers?

Go to Knowledge Base article SID3069 then expand the "7. Soundblaster Cards".
It is possible to have 5. digital sound in games if your Creative speaker system has a digital DIN connection.

  • Quite possibly my LAST Creative Labs soundc

Ok, I'm new to these boards, but far from new to Creative products. I can recall my first real Creative soundcard, the Soundblaster AWE32. I paid well over $300.00 for it way back in the day and was drawn to Creative ever since. I have been in the?computer tech?field since around 95, so I've seen lots of different products come and go. I currently own an X-Fi Platinum, which in XP is an incredible card, however with the Vista being the new OS on the block, and Creative taking MONTHS to release a driver has me dumbfounded; what are they doing over there? How can the soundcard leader let this happen? I know when Windows XP came out everyone had problems back then, but nothing like this. Creative seems to be dragging behind everyone else to keep up to date and that's just not the Creative I've came to know and love and not even bat an eye at dropping $300+ for a soundcard because I KNEW who made it and I KNEW I wasn't going to be disapointed in having. As I said, the X-Fi is an incredible card, but if Creative can't get past this "tortist and hare"?mentality it's having, then why should I continue to spend my money and brag about the hardware that used to be the best? Creative seems to have forgotten how to listen to it's consumers, because if I'm going to spend money on somthing, it should deli'ver what it promises, and sadly to say, Creative hasn't been very creative lately. I've seen more and more people complain about driver problems with Creative cards in Vista then anything else, and that should be a wake up call to Creative. They may have a big name and be renouned for the best in the past, but even I know the fastest way to have a company go down is bad word of mouth. Creative, if you read this, wake up, if you're on drugs, GET OFF EM. Gi've us the company back that you USED to be, so the next time I'm in the store looking to buy somthing new I won't stand there for 30 minutes "wondering" if I should risk my money on another Creative failure.

Oh I'm not in any way saying none of this is Microsoft's fault, but unfortunately it's either Microsoft's way, or no way, and that's one of the sadest things about the computer world. I plan to keep XP for quite some time to come, because sofar I'm not very impressed with Vista, it definetely did not li've up to the hype. I don't mean to sound too hasty about Creative, it's just frustrating when it seems that one of the biggest companies who put out the absolute best soundcards ever made seem to be falling behind. If I wasn't so big into gaming I probably wouldn't even have written the first post. The thing that puzzled me about Creative was the amount of time it took for them to actually release this driver, and somehow I doubt very seriously that noone is having any problems with it, or at least not yet. Microsoft is definetely the bigger one to blame on this no question, but how is it that companies like Realtek and some other lower end companies are making cards with virtually no problems with Vista at all compared to Creative? That's what fueled me to write the first post. I see my # horse just sitting in the gate while everyone else has taken off. The only thing I repeatedly hear about why Microsoft did this is to combat piracy; well good luck with that MS, but I'll tell you somthing my mother told me many years ago. "Man made it, man can beat it." There will always be a way around it, and there's nothing anyone can do to stop that from happening. Even if the hardware manufacturers get on board and start intergrating technology to stop you from listening to "illegal" mp3s, or burning copyrighted dvds, it's not going to change anything. Someone will come out with somthing to blow it all away. If I knew enough about how Linux worked I'd be willing to give it a try, but it doesn't seem to be as big in the gaming world now as it once was, or at least not from what I've seen. I hope Creative can get back to basics, and start making products again that are how I've always seen Creative to be, the BEST. However, you can only stay on top for so long, and hopefully Creative will see that they need to revamp a few things and get back in the game before that "new" company on the block comes in and takes them out before they even knew what happened. I've read posts here for awhile before I wrote any of my own, and there seem to be just as many unhappy Creative fans as there are happy, I just hope the scale doesn't tip the wrong way for Creative.

  • A.A. 3.0./ Want to Record from Soundcard1 and listen from another Soundcard

    Hiho,
I Got 2 Soundcards which are installed. a Terratec Phase 22 Recording Soundcard (1) and a Creative Soundblaster Xtreme Music (2).
It would be nice if Adobe Audition 3.0 would give me the Sound of the Creative Soundcard but Record from the Terratec Soundcard. The problem is that if i choose the Terratec ASIO driver Adobe takes away any option to use the Creative Soundcard. If i use the Creative driver, the Terratec Soundcard isnt displayed anymore.
2 Screenshots to understand what i mean:

    http://www.imagebanana.com/view/ewb5z15z/2.JPG
    http://www.imagebanana.com/view/x79ora17/creativeasio.JPG
help would be great. please excuse my bad english, like you see at the Screenshots im from Germany.

ASIO can only use one sound device - that's an ASIO system limitation, not an Adobe one. The only way around this is to use an ASIO to WDM converter, and the only one that's usable in this context is ASIO4ALL, which fortunately for you, is free. At least this way, you will see both cards as being available, but there is a limitation in that you will only get whatever inputs and outputs are available via WDM, and this is often limited to a stereo pair per device.

  • Installation Package for Creative SBS Vivid 60

Hi, after a computerproblem, all my software was lost. I'm now installing everything again, but I have'nt the installation cd-rom for my speakers. How could I install this software again, so I can listen again to my mp3's on the computer. Corneel den Hartogh (The Netherlands)

    Cornoo,
The SBS Vivid 60 speaker system doesn't come with any software installation. All you need is to plug the speaker audio jack into your computer soundcard. If you're missing software/driver, it's probably related to the soundcard and you need to get those driver/software from the soundcard manufacturer. If it's a Creative soundcard, you can try looking for the driver via the download section under Support->Downloads.
