Creative Staff Read Please - Power Consumption of Audigy 2

Please provide me with the technical spec for the Audigy 2 ZS.
I am looking at the power supply related to the Audigy 2 ZS and how it fits into my system. I need to know how much amps it can draw from the PCI slot, which voltage (2V, 5V, etc.), and how much amps at each voltage. Please assume it is connected to the Creative speaker system Inspire T7700 if that is relevant.
I've been working to get this system running stable since early December (nearly 3 months). I've replaced the RAM twice, the video card twice, and the motherboard once.
Please provide me with the above information so that I can continue to use your nice product(s). I've been a customer since the first Soundblaster (an early revision too) model CT-320.

First, since you've replaced so much stuff already, try taking things a little slower. You're doing something to fry all these parts. In my experiences, very few parts are defecti've from teh manufacturer (at least when you buy from a reputable source...).
As said above, you don't need to know the power consumption of the sound card to buy a fitting PSU. Also, as he said, buying a more powerful PSU is better then one that's too weak.
What are your specs? Have you built the rig already, and has it worked (POST, booted) yet? Where are you getting the parts from? ESD wriststrap? Compatible parts?
I have a strong feeling a few of your parts aren't compatible, and so your rig isn't POSTing. Incompatible memory, for instance, means you won't post, at all. Plus you won't hear any mobo beaps unless you have a case speaker (or an older board). Post up your parts and we'll see if we can find the problem.

  • Creative Please do not let Audigy 2 ZS die!

Hello Creative staff and costumers, i have Creative Soundblaster Audigy 2 ZS sound card for quite a while, yes i know its a bit old but its just so great, even compared with the new x-fi ones it would break my heart to just get it out of my computer and toss it in the garbage when its still working flawlessly with any game or music.
The main problem here is the lack of support for one of the most underrated features of them all:
    Creative Eax System Tray console!
    Off Topic:
I managed (with the astonish help from a well known member here that saddly quited in the last driver pack) to make it work quite well in windows 7 64bits, for anyone not knowing about what drivers pack i am talking about here they are (drivers pack 3.6):
    http://www.megaupload.com/?d=U7Y6DYFT
First you must do a clean uninstall of your current audigy 2 zs drivers for win 7, once you are done clean the junk files in safemode with a program of your choice:
    driver sweeper or
driver cleaner (recommended as i got good results with it in the past)
once you are done reboot into normal mode and install the drivers, restart your computer like 2 times and thats it, do not get alarmed if you get weird sound stuttering at first it will strangelly go away with time and will eventually dissapear permanently even after a new windows boot (i never got the sound problems ever again) for ingame sound hardware activation use alchemy.
Anyways back to the topic, what i ask of you is to help me find a way so i can make the eax console system tray work properly in windows 7 64bits as i have no way or clue how to do so, not even with win xp compatibility mode and run as admin options enabled...
That is all i ask for a temporarly fix untill the official drivers from creative staff arri've for win 7 (if they do not get canceled in the process that is)
Thank you all for your Patience to read the thread.

    Hello Edward
I have the Creative Audigy 2 ZS and play many online games using Voice.
My biggest beaf with this card is that it does not have separate recepticle for the headphone/mic jacks. It does have the Mic recepticle but does not have the headphone/earpiece receptical. The downside is that I must unplug my speakers in order to plug-in my headset mic.
At least there are no additional recepticles to use when you also have a 6. sound system.
Here is the solution that I used to resolve this matter.
I went to Radio Shack and spent approx. $5.00 for a adapter/splitter.
It has a conventional /8th inch (Stereo) jack on one end (that plugs into the card at the back of the computer. The adapter/splitter also has 2 input recepticles.
I plug my headset earpeice jack into one and the appropriate speaker jack into the other.
Now I can either use the headset mic or listen to music on my speakers.
I will admit that there "might" be a slightly reduced volume on the speakers if the speaker volume on my headset mic is turned up any when I listen to music on the speakers. All I do is make sure that the headset's volume control is always turned off when I am not using the headset.
I hope this information is helpful.
PS> I have no idea whether or not Creative Labs would condone this solution method. Furthermore, it may even void the warranty. However, I have had zero problems from this method.
My recommendation to Creative (I believe I sent them an email regarding this, shortly after purchasing the card - I never received any reply), was to provide an additional recepticle for a headset mic. Whether or not they consider this advice for future cards will remain to be seen.
    Good Luck

  • App Power Consumption and Restrict

Settings > Power Management > App power consumption
If there is any app listed in the UNUSED APPS section, tap into the app, there is an "Restrict" button.
Can someone help to explain what does it do? If an app is restricted, how can I unrestrict it? Where to see a list of restricted app?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
When an application is not in use, it can consume processing power and thereby reduce the battery consumption. As far as I know, when you press the restrict button, you will force a shutdown of the application (to make sure it's not an active app in the background e.g). It's the same thing as you can do if you go to Settings > Apps > The tab "All" > Tap an app > Force stop.

  • Applicaton power consumption

Perhaps this app already exists. If not, would someone please write one. I want an app that monitors each application's run time/power consumption (or whatever you want to call it. I want to be able to open this app and instantly see which app is consuming my power so I can determine if it is worth keeping. If there is already a handy app for this please let me know. Thanks in advance.

Sad news, but thanks for the reply.

  • Power Consumption of Power Injector

    Hi,
Hope you can assist me. My customer requested me to calculate the power consumption required for the installation of one unit of AP 1510 using the following power injector, part no: Power Injector (AIR-PWRINJ1500). He would like to know the cost required so that the building management can include the necessary cost of the implementation of the device.
From my initial research, I notice the following input power requirement
    Power Injector
    Input: 100-240V ~ 1.5A (300Watt)
    Output: 48V ~ 1.2A (58Watt)
    Power consumption: 240*1.5 = 360 W = 0.36KW
Assuming cost per unit is 0.39 cent
    Amount required per hour = 0.36*0.39 = 0.14 cent
    Amount required per day = 0.14*24 = 3.36 dollar
    Is my calculation correct?
    Thanks.

  • MacBook Pro 15" Power consumption

What is the average power consumption of a MacBook Pro 15" please? I need to buy a battery backup to cater for power cuts.

Yes, you cannot partition the RAID, period, after creation.
The 2011 models and later have 6.0 Gb/s HDD interfaces with 3.0 Gb/s for the optical drive until after the 17" model, then 6.0 Gb/s on both interfaces. But no such support for the 2010 models like yours.
i honestly don't see the point of installing two large capacity SSDs for a RAID setup. I put smaller SSDs where the HDD was and a large HDD in place of the optical drive. I use the SSD for startup and the HDD for storage.

  • [Solved] High power consumption of eth0

    Hi everyone,
i successfully installed Arch on my new Acer Travelmate P653-MG a few months ago with the Gnome DE. Everything worked fine until a few weeks ago, when i discovered a really hard power regression due to my network interface. Before i had a solid 12 W of power consumption (without that much of finetuning), but afterwards my power consumption jumped to 23-25 W. I have attached two screenshots of my current powertop output:
    http://i.imgur.com/8tpSnXf.png
    http://i.imgur.com/CaVg61A.png
Unfortunately i can't quite say when this regression occured, so as to point to a certain update. My first guess was, this had to be kernel specific, but the downgrade from kernel 3.7 to 3.6 brought no results. I must admit after hours of searching google, the arch wiki and the forum here, i'm at a complete loss. I have discovered no one with a similar problem.
If anyone can help me in this matter, your help would be very much appreciated!
My current kernel parameters are: quiet splash nmi_watchdog=0 acpi_osi=linux acpi_backlight=vendor
Please tell me any outputs i can provide which could be of help to you.

Thanks for your suggestions, but i was finally able to figure it out myself. linux-lts was unfortunately no option for me, as i want to use bumblebee. But the direction, this pointed me to was good. It seems one of the kernel updates broke my bumblebee package, so the power management didnt work and the card was constantly powered on. This was nothing new, but my powertop completely messed it up, by adding this additional power consumption to eth0. Funny enough, this power consumption even disappeared, when i unloaded eth0. After deleting powertops saved results and recalibrating it, it now shows up all components power usage correctly.
Thus i mark this thread as SOLVED.

  • Power Consumption in UCS

    Hi,
We are running 4 Chassis in our enviroment with firmware 1.4 (3q) and recently we had an issue with one of the PSU (PSU2) in chassis 2 and we got it replaced and after that we are observing that 1 of the PSU in each chassis is showing as "Power Save" (PSU-Details_All_Chassis.JPG) state.
I want to understand that how Power consumptions works in UCS, I have also attached "Power Groups" (Power-Group_Details.jpg) snap shot for the reference.
Want to understand what is "unbounded" & "cap-ok". When will "power save" state PSU will be ON state and does it will go again in "power save" state.
    Thanks,
    Amit Vyas

    Amit,
Again Jeremy is correct. given your illustration grid is the way to go.
The best way to figure out your power requirements however is to use the following tool:
    http://www.cisco.com/assets/cdc_content_elements/flash/dataCenter/cisco_ucs_power_calculator/
To answer your question however about the N+1 I have included an explanation below.
Also instituting power capping at the chassis level requires the following:
IOM, CIMC, and BIOS version 1.4 or higher
        2 PSUs
A minimum of 3788 AC watts should be set for each chassis. This  converts to 3400 watts of DC power, which is the minimum amount of power  required to power a fully-populated chassis.
This means that after 1.4 release the minimum with power capping is 2 PSUs. For example previous to 1.4 release a system that was set for N+1 (1+1 for example) would need to have 3 PSUs N+1 (2+1) in releas 1.4 and greater. This is because of the power groups minimum requirement.
If the power is required the +1 should be made available to meet the redundancy requirements. If it is not needed it is turned off / power save.
Please let me know if this helps.

  • 7961G and Power Consumption

    I have a 3750 with 48 ports.
I can only use 24 ports with 7961's. After that, no more power can be drawn from the switch.
I noticed that the 7961's are using 15.4watts of power.
    7960's used 7.7watts mode.
Can the 7961's use 7.7watts mode?
This is not configurable on the switch.
Is it configurable on the IP Phone??
I can't find any documentation on Cisco's web site in regards to 7961 power consumption (only 7960 power consumption).
    thanks,
    Paul

    Hi Paul,
Are these phones 7961G or 7961G-GE? The 7961G are a class 2 device (7.7 watts) and the 7961G-GE phones are a class 3 device (15.4 watts). These are not configurable settings.
Each Cisco Catalyst 3750-24PS or Cisco Catalyst 3750-48PS switch can optionally detect the PD Power Classification signature and budget the appropriate power. This reduces the maximum power that must be budgeted by the switch and provisioned in the wiring closet. The Cisco Catalyst 3750 PoE switches have **370W**(this is enough for 48 class 2 devices @ 7.7 watts 48x7.7 = 369.6 watts) available for Power over Ethernet, which is shared by all 24/48 ports. The switch allocates the maximum power a PD needs.
    Have a look at these Cisco docs;
    Cisco Unified IP Phone 7961G
Power Requirements The phone is interoperable with Cisco Pre-standard PoE and with IEEE 802.3af PoE (the phone is a Class 2 device); 48 VDC is required; it can be supplied locally at the desktop using an optional AC-to-DC power supply (part number CP-PWR-CUBE-3=).
    From this doc;
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/phones/ps379/products_data_sheet0900aecd802ff020.html
    Cisco Unified IP Phone 7961G-GE
Power Requirements The phone supports the IEEE 802.3af PoE (the phone is a Class 3 device) standard; 48 VDC is required; it can be supplied locally at the desktop using an AC-to-DC power supply (part number CP-PWR-CUBE-3=).
The Cisco Unified IP Phone 7961G-GE supports IEEE 803.af Power over Ethernet (PoE). It also can be powered locally with a power supply (part number CP-PWR-CUBE-3). **Note: The Cisco Unified IP Phone 7961G-GE does not support Cisco Pre-standard PoE.**
    From this doc;

  • Monitor power consumption on non POE device using LMS 4.1 ?

How do i monitor power consumption of our endpoint device such as IBM server, UCS server, PC , etc which isn't powered by POE ?

I'm way to lazy to read all this stuff (that's my nature) but I tried a few things with an IP phone and an access point because a customer was interested.
TAC said to forget about the access point, LMS will only manage the IP phone.
Do you see these endpoint devices in LMS anywhere? I asume you managed to get the agent software and put them on these devices.
In theory they should then get 'discovered' as endpoints. Not sure how LMS would be able to do that though. Unless the endpoint agent knows about LMS and starts talking I don't see how it could work.
Anyway, the theory is that in LMS you have a group of endpoints in an endpoint group. Then you should be able to configure endpoint attributes.... , and then you should be able to create a policy and apply it to that group. But I think the policies you can create in LMS now, are for IP phones only.
You should also be able the generate power reports on an endpoint group. Provided you are able to discover these endpoints.
Do let us know how you are getting on with this though. Energywise is interesting but the current implementation in LMS may be a bit too minimalistic. (please prove me wrong)
    Cheers,
    Michel

  • Cisco 2960 Power Consumption

    Hi,
I am planning to use above switch for my project.
Please let me know the exact power consideration for this switch.
    [ 27W (AC) or 130W (AC) (100V x 1.3A) ] Power Consumption = Volt x Current.
I have below two snaps from your site, hence got confused which value to be considered as power consumption for this switch.
    Link:
    http://www.cisco.com/cisco/web/support/model/tsd_hardware_switch_model_296024tcl.html#0
    Case 1:
    Case2:
What should I consider as power required for Switch ?
    Is it 1.3A @ 110/240 VAC ?
    Or
    Is it 30W ?
    Thanks in advance,
    Amit

I'm using EnergyWise.  I don't see any relevance as to WHY you would want to use it.  I also don't see any information about your PoE requirement, hence, no comment on how you'd like to save money by powering down PoE.
The power requirement for the 4506 would, most likely, be LESS than getting six PoE switches individually.
I mean, if you don't use PoE, the line cards will only draw what is required.  So trying to save money from energy consumption of the chassis won't make a lot of sense.

  • Energy Profiler to monitor power consumption

I created a JAR file for my application and installed in Nokia C5-03 mobile. The application runs for a minimum of 3 seconds to maximum of 5 seconds. When I started the Energy Profiler tool once my application started to work the power consumption for the same is not getting measured. The file (exported as .csv) does not shows any reading for those time when my application works. Can you please help me on this?

  • NM-32A card power consumption?

    Hello,
Could anyone please tell me what is the NM-32A card power consumption?
I can't find this info anywhere.
    Thanks in advance
    BR.

I'm looking into this to see if I can find it.  Power figures for some cards like this can be more difficult to find.  Do you have access to the Partner Help support where you can ask for this info?
Out of curiosity, how precise is your requirement for this information?  Are you on an extremely constricted power budget?  If your requirement is not extremely precise, it may be easier to calculate an estimate based on the maximum/typical power draw value for the platform into which the card is being installed.

  • Powermanager 1.60 has removed the abilty to show the current power consumption in the tray.

    Hi,
well the topic says it. Powermanager 1.60 has removed the abilty to show the current power consumption in the tray.
I realy frustrated right now, why the heck did they remove this nice feature?
And this new energy slider is just trash. If i change back to advanced mode, i cant see my current power consumption. Nor in the main battery tab. The field "Current Power" is just blank. And the option in the tray vanished.
What the **bleep** are these guys doing. There was a time i fought this powermanger is the best software ibm/lenovo ever produced, but since the change of the ui, and removing important features. Its unbeliveable.
Especialy if you are on windows xp, this looks like **bleep**, and this "new" gauge desgin, flickers and stops my mouse on hower over the new "Design".
