Creative Suite 2 and Tiger incompatible? URGENT

Hello,
I have an urgent question as I must make a quick decision in the morning. I have heard from a couple of people that Adobe Creative Suite 2 and Tiger do not play nice together but they haven't been able to be very specific and I have not been able to find much on the web. Does anybody know if there are any widespread incompatibilities?

I don't know where those people are getting their information from but my experience is exactly the opposite. For me the combination of CS2 and Tiger has been the best ever. Since Adope now allows Tiger to manage memory instead of using it's own scratch disk, I have found the improvement in performance to be really impressive.
As far as seeing any problem with the Bridge, I have to say I don't see that either. This was true on both my PM G4 MDD and my Quad. I find the Bridge to be a good place to start looking at my pictures and then use it to open up the pictures that need some work in PS or IR.

Colour management between creative suite and iPad/iOS

Does anyone have any insight into colour management for imagery between creative suite and iPad/iOS. ? i.e using the appropriate Proof set up across indesign/photoshop/bridge to as close as you can mimic what you will see on the iPad?

Loaded Creative Suite and now my Final Cut Express HD won't start up

Loaded Creative Suite on my iMAC 20" and now my Final Cut Express HD won't start up. It wants to load but i only see it for a few seconds then it disappears.
Is this a scratch disk problem or did CS do this.
HELP !!!!!!!!

Welcome to the discussions,
to repair permissions close all open applications go - utilities - disk utility - select macintosh HD, then click 'repair permissions' - and wait. The shutdown and re-start.

also, is your software up to date? Run software update from the apple menu, repairing permissions before and after.
To log into a different account and try launching FCE from there go to system preferences - accounts - and add a new user. Log into the new account and try to launch fce.
Ideally, it will help you to use the search function in these forums which can point you in the right direction before needing to post a question which may have come up in discussion before.

I have to re install my creative suite and acrobat

I am getting a new system this evening, and I need to get my software installed and updated on the new system, once I have the hardware installed. I have been waiting for literally WEEKS for support to call me and help me get everything fixed, but they never call when they are supposed to.
Help.

Your explanation leaves a bit to the imagination. What arrangement do you have that you expect Support to be calling you for weeks when you only got the system this evening?

Creative suite and linux

I've had it to the eye teeth with Windows. When are we going
to get a version of creative suite that is compiled for Linux?
Adobe make a range of products already that run on Linux. WHY CAN'T
WE GET THE FLAGSHIP...CS3 COMPILED FOR LINUX?
It strikes me as amazing that Adobe's support for Mac is
legendary and the latest Mac OS is a flavour of Unix. So why-o-why
can they not produce a version of creative suite that'll run
natively on Linux. I'm soo sad.

I'm familier with Linux since 1995, do I have to shift to Mac or Windows to be able to use adobe creative suite ? I believe that installing CS on WINE is not a practical way. I'm very sad too.

Mac Pro, Creative Suites and extra hard drive query

I am seriously looking at purchasing a 15" Mac Pro this year - I know what specs I want, but I am curious as to what Mac users do re the extra hard drives? I am used to having a second hard drive on my PC for scratch discs for the Creative Suites including CS4. What do Mac users use for extra scratch discs? Do you use a removable drive? Apple tells me that I can't have any second hard drive in the Mac Pro or iMac, hence my query. (I will also be attaching my Wacom Cintiq 21UX to it as well.) Thank you.

In moving to a Mac I am trying to understand whether the drives work differently, or can you partition the main drive on a Mac and use those partitions for scratch discs?

Fonts in Microsoft/Creative Suite/and the Yellow Brick Road

Hello, We are a small town newspaper running (new to us) Power PC G5's OS 10.4.11. We have both OS 9 and Tiger installed because we are migrating from PageMaker to full pagination in In-Design. It will be several months before we will be to the point that OS 9 can be totally eliminated. We use Century Schoolbook as our copy font. Currently, it is working correctly in Word 08 AND in In-Design in 7 of 8 computers BUT one computer (the EDITOR'S) has some stupid glitch that I cannot overcome. The Microsoft font folder is located in the same place it is on all the other computers, that is, Hard disk\Library\Fonts\Microsoft When the user opens Word we have a template setup with Century Schoolbook set as the default font. What appears on the screen is some weird other font although it is still identified as Century Schoolbook. In addition, when anything that comes in from a contributor and is opened and copied and pasted into this same template it goes to some other strange font.
Basically, what I am saying is that Microsoft Word is NOT seeing the font folder correctly, even though it is placed correctly.
When you open up In-Design, all fonts work correctly.
Can anyone give me some advice? Thanks in advance for any info you might offer. I have been through every Microsoft help file and searched your forum archive and not found any help.

Hi NewsRookie, and a warm welcome to the forums!
No font expert here, but open Font Book and see if you can find the weird font.
Try duplicating the template and choosing another Font for a test.
Try this... Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it finishes.

I just installed Adobe Creative Suite and ended up with 29 more icons in LaunchPad.

Most of which are 'apps' that are one-time or little used sub-apps that have nothing to do with the day to day usage of the 7 main apps.
And there they sit waiting for me to assemble them into a 'folder' to get them out of my way.
It's my understanding that I cannot delete them, unless I delete the actual application.
Is this true and what do you think about this?

Maybe this can help:
From Launchpad, you can uninstall apps you downloaded from the App Store, but not apps such as Safari and Mail that are part of Mac OS X Lion.
Click the Launchpad icon in the Dock.
Hold down an app’s icon until all the icons begin to wiggle.
Click an app’s delete button (x) to uninstall the app.
If an icon doesn’t have a delete button, that app can’t be uninstalled.
I'm not sure if this will completely remove the App you don't want to see in launchpad or just remove the icon, so be careful what you delete (if you can!)

Just install the way you did originally using the serial number you have. If you need a download link you can likely find one thru the following page:

If not, then specify which version you need.
If you do not have a record of your serial number, you should be able to find it thru your Adobe account online.

Macbook and original Adobe Creative Suite (CS1)

Will the original Adobe Creative Suite and all plugins, intended for powerpc, run okay on an intel mac? I realize that it would have to run with the rosetta emulation, and thus slower if at all, but will this performance be equal to that of an iBook g4 1.33ghz 12inch? Many thanks in advance if anyone has any experience on trying to do this. CS1 still does great for what I need it to do, and I don't care to go spend a huge amount of money on CS3.

No problem. If it is just Photoshop you are worried about, there are many alternatives, and many of them very cheap or otherwise affordable.
Photoshop Elements is arguably the most popular prosumer photo editing software. You might also check out Pixelmator, as it's cheaper and does many of the same things as PS Elements (and more, in some cases).
There is also GIMP, which I think is completely free.
Please be aware that Elements and Pixelmator do not support CMYK editing, so if you are doing print work it's best to stick to the 'real' Photoshop. I cannot speak for GIMP, as I have never used it.
Of course, if you need InDesign or the other CS apps, then all this is moot.
There is definitely a version of Photoshop CS4 out there in beta form. Screenshots have made their way to the Internet, so I don't think you will have to wait TOO much longer, whatever you decide .

Purchased Creative Suite 6 Design and Web Premium but Photoshop will not install

I purchased CS6 and all programs install successfully except Photoshop. I keep getting an install error even after I completely uninstalled the creative suite and then reinstalled it. Can you please help?

Adobe Creative Suites for PC... and Mac?

I have 2005 edition of Adobe Creative Suite and it was purchased at the time for my work computer, which is PC. I really like to work at home now and made the conversion to iMac 10 mos ago. Didn't have the moolah to buy a whole new set of software as it is pretty $$$. Still struggling in the Mac world and studying these forums, am I reading correctly that newer macs can read all software?
Can I load my Adobe Photoshop CS and the rest of the suites on this???

PS: I once asked Adobe to "switch" my license from PC to Mac and they said they couldn't.From what I understand this is the same everywhere.I wish it would change...
