Creative Suite 3 and InDesign

first of all, no experience with CS3 or InDesign. sorry.
i am a support technician. our graphics department just recieved new Dell 3007Wfp lcd monitors. when they use InDesign and maximize it, the document dissappears from the screen, and the background shows up in the application window. if they make the application smaller it displays the document correctly.
made the ie7.0 temporary files setting to 1024GB.
specifications
Dell T5400 Precision Workstations, windows xp pro
3.5Gb ram
150GB primary hard drive with 500GB secondary drives
Nvidia Quadro 1700 video card.
The creative suite has been fully updated, the video card and computer have been fully updated and the hard drive defragged.
any suggestions would be appreciated.

there are 4 systems total, all same with t5400 and the 3007wfp.
they were using dual older dell 19" lcd that were only capable of analog singals. so a big change for them. they are not interested in going back to the 19s.
the video drivers are updated.
1 user is using current dell driver, 1 is using the nvidia driver.
the problem does appear to do this with the other portions of creative suite.
one of the systems hangs frequently, but the others dont. They didnt have this problem before the deployment of the monitors.
i found that system restore was turned on for these computers and turned them off.
increased the page file to 7.1GBs. on Bridge, increased the caches size to maximum. set the nvidia control panel to use the application settings for deciding on how to manage the 3d settings (closest i could get to hardware accelleration).
now, 2 are sort of behaving, but will drop minor things occassionally, like the user tried to put guides down and the first time it failed.
the 3rd is still not displaying menus or the documents when maximized. if i lower the resolution 1 lvl it works fine.
havent touched the 4th yet, leaving it as a control. might reattach the 19s. they also have lost the ability to print to a ps cmyk printer.

Does anyone have any insight into colour management for imagery between creative suite and iPad/iOS. ? i.e using the appropriate Proof set up across indesign/photoshop/bridge to as close as you can mimic what you will see on the iPad?

You will have to connect ot iTunes in order to reinstall iOS 6.1. Or you can try using the iPhone settings. Tab Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings which should force the phone into recovery mode and begin a download of iOS. You will need a solid WiFi connection, and I suggest you keep the phone connected to the AC charger.

Often you have to start by using the Adobe Cleaner tool first to remove all the Adobe applications:
Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6
Then do your reinstallation.

Just purchased Adobe Creative Cloud and InDesign says start trial?

I've just purchased the full package of Creative Cloud and just tried to install InDesign and now it says 'Start Trial' next to it in the Creative Cloud Menu?
When I launch the InDesign it says Sign In required and then it takes me to a serial number screen?

Loaded Creative Suite and now my Final Cut Express HD won't start up

Loaded Creative Suite on my iMAC 20" and now my Final Cut Express HD won't start up. It wants to load but i only see it for a few seconds then it disappears.
Is this a scratch disk problem or did CS do this.
HELP !!!!!!!!

to repair permissions close all open applications go - utilities - disk utility - select macintosh HD, then click 'repair permissions' - and wait. The shutdown and re-start.

also, is your software up to date? Run software update from the apple menu, repairing permissions before and after.
To log into a different account and try launching FCE from there go to system preferences - accounts - and add a new user. Log into the new account and try to launch fce.
Ideally, it will help you to use the search function in these forums which can point you in the right direction before needing to post a question which may have come up in discussion before.

I have to re install my creative suite and acrobat

I am getting a new system this evening, and I need to get my software installed and updated on the new system, once I have the hardware installed. I have been waiting for literally WEEKS for support to call me and help me get everything fixed, but they never call when they are supposed to.
Help.

Your explanation leaves a bit to the imagination. What arrangement do you have that you expect Support to be calling you for weeks when you only got the system this evening?

Creative suite and linux

I've had it to the eye teeth with Windows. When are we going
to get a version of creative suite that is compiled for Linux?
Adobe make a range of products already that run on Linux. WHY CAN'T
WE GET THE FLAGSHIP...CS3 COMPILED FOR LINUX?
It strikes me as amazing that Adobe's support for Mac is
legendary and the latest Mac OS is a flavour of Unix. So why-o-why
can they not produce a version of creative suite that'll run
natively on Linux. I'm soo sad.

I'm familier with Linux since 1995, do I have to shift to Mac or Windows to be able to use adobe creative suite ? I believe that installing CS on WINE is not a practical way. I'm very sad too.

Mac Pro, Creative Suites and extra hard drive query

I am seriously looking at purchasing a 15" Mac Pro this year - I know what specs I want, but I am curious as to what Mac users do re the extra hard drives? I am used to having a second hard drive on my PC for scratch discs for the Creative Suites including CS4. What do Mac users use for extra scratch discs? Do you use a removable drive? Apple tells me that I can't have any second hard drive in the Mac Pro or iMac, hence my query. (I will also be attaching my Wacom Cintiq 21UX to it as well.) Thank you.

Thank you Steve - however I use the scratch disc in both Illustrator and Photoshop and Premiere, hence it becomes a more general question.
In moving to a Mac I am trying to understand whether the drives work differently, or can you partition the main drive on a Mac and use those partitions for scratch discs?

Creative Suite 2-InDesign serious errors

I've installed a fresh new copy of CS2, and InDesign will not launch. Well, it will launch once in awhile, but crashes when I create or try to save a file. The various error messages are: Code 3; "Cannot add data to defaults, defaults is damaged."; "A serious error was detected." "Could not complete request because of a database error." "Restart InDesign" doesn't help.
Everything else in CS2 works fine, other that the occasional unexplained shut down that seems to be an Adobe special feature, regardless of application.
My system and fonts are clean, all other software runs fine (MSOffice, QXP, Studio8, etc). All the usual troubleshooting, preference trashing and maintenance rituals have been performed. Of course, I've also followed the exhaustive procedure for deleting everything and reinstalling the entire CS. Twice.
Hours spent with Adobe techs on the phone have proven useless. They tell me it's a problem with my system. Funny, my only problem is w/ InDesign... I've always worked in Quark, just got my first request for an InDesign project, and this is not encouraging.
Any suggestions? I quail at spending days more in Adobe's voicemail syst

Creative Suite CS2 InDesign Freeze Up During PDF Export

Help anyone?
Why does my InDesign CS2 sometimes freeze up when I am trying to export to a pdf? I then have to do a 'Force Quit' and retry.
When I am trying to make a pdf in InDesign, I select >File >Export and export to pdf with 'press high res' setting and then it just
'spools' and freezes. I may have to restart my computer a couple times and then it exports fine into a pdf.
I am on a Mac Pro, Intel Xeon, 2.66GHz, 512 MB memory, Hard drive: 700 GB.
What's the solution?

More RAM, more RAM, more RAM. It's necessary to have a minimum of 2 GB to get anything done with the more recent versions of OSX.

Downloading trial of Creative Cloud and Indesign

I have now downloaded the trial for 30 days. I am in desperate need of leaning about Indesign. It has still not been possible for me to open indesign ! I need your help.

Without adequate technical information about your system and a proper explanation of what actually the issue is (errors? warnings?) nobody can say anything. Just saying that it doesn't work simply isn't useful.
