Creative Suite 5.5 deployment using Symantec Ghost

Has anybody used Ghost or a similar system imaging tool to deploy a system with Creative Suite 5.5 installed?
As part of my organization's imaging process, we install and configure software in Windows 7's audit mode; run sysprep; and capture that image for deployment.
Are there any issues using a volume-licensed software in this scenario? Do new user profiles have to accept a EULA or do any other configuration.

I've looked at the documentation at that link, and it all seems geared toward using Adobe Application Manager to deploy installation and update packages.
I'm still interested in hearing user experiences with deploying Creative Suite 5.5 as part of a system image. My main goal is to be able to configure the software package once in Audit Mode of Windows 7's sysprep and have all of those settings be taken when new Windows user profiles are created. I want to avoid any sort of registration or configuration screens when a new user logs in to a PC and starts using a Creative Suite product.

    If it's the original CS version of the Creative Suite then, no, it's too old. That ran on PPC-based Macs.

    Your concerns are justified.  Adobe will no longer provide you with meaningful tech support.  I have an office with 5 designers and CS6.  i was forced to upgrade to Creative Cloud after a few of the users could no longer work on some important documents.  Adobe support only response was that they could not help us unless we upgraded to CC.  Once we upgraded the problem continued and they finally helped us solve the issue.   Its very simple.  Adobe doesnt want there customers to own anything.  You must buy the software for a least a year via subscription and have your work held hostage.  My advise is to start finding and using other tools.  We have started researching other tools.

    Well, the computer stopped starting up at all. It could never find the operating system. I tried safe mode and virtually every other non-standard start-up option. I then did target disk mode with another MBP and got the message: "The disk you inserted was not readable by this computer." I then tried using disk utility and it couldn't retrieve retrieve the data using restore (writing to an external drive). I suspect that this means the hard drive would need to be replaced. In your expert opinions, is this necessarily true? Could this still be just a software problem, or perhaps some other piece of hardware?
    Part of the reason I ask is that this laptop is now nearly five years old. It's needed a new battery for two years. If it's a virtual certainty that the hard drive is toast, I don't want to pay $150 for someone to take it out and try to recover any remaining data from it, only to reveal that the data is indeed irretrievable (since the computer itself is probably only worth $300-400 at this point). The nearest Genius Bar is also more than 2 hours away. Am I going about this the right way by using disk utility, given that the hard drive won't mount to the desktop of the other computer? If the hard drive can't be reat in target disk mode, does that confirm that it is the hard drive?

    Oh also, it does still make the startup noise, even though I can't run the AHT since I can't get it to start up in safemode. I thought this mean that it passing various hardware tests. Does this not apply to the hard drive?

    The machine where I'm trying to install the Creative Suite Standard CS 6 uses Windows 8 and no Adobe programs are installed here. When I bought the Creative Standard CS 5.5 I registered it for Mac platform, but I have also a serial number for Windows and it doesn't work.
    I tried to register a new product in my Adobe account, using the Windows Serial number that I received when I bought CS 5.5, but it doesn't work.

    I am using an iMac OS 10.5.8, 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 1 GB, 800 MHz. AllI know is that you can't upgrade from CS1.
    I am in the misdt of several production projects and can't afford a mistake or down time. Thanks for any and all help.
    P.S. Is Snow Leopard compatiable with CS4?

    You can upgrade from CS1 to CS4. CS1 will be out of the upgrade path when CS5 is released.
    You don't need to remove CS1 it does not conflict with CS4. I have CS1 through CS4 installed and playing nicely together.
    CS4 is compatible but  I would stay with 10.5.8 until Apple gets most of the bugs worked out of Snow Leopard. that is usually about the 4th update.

    I reboot the computer, check add remove program, cs4 web standard is still here, and I can still launch the applications like nothing happened...
    but at this point if I try to manually uninstall (with add/remove program) i get an error message saying "cirtical errors during installation: program installation database is incorrect, reinstall from original support" (maybe not accurate as it's in french)
    same thing if i run manually the cleaner tool and go through the dialog.
    I don't know what else I can do, I've already spent a couple of hours with this issue.

    hi, thanks for your answer, actually this is what I have to do:
    I have to uninstall cs4 english to install it back in french. If I try reinstall with the french licence over the existing install, it starts in trial mode and ask for the licence.
    So if I follow your advice I should reinstall, uninstall, then reinstall ( and I have to do that on 30 computers, through SCCM, not manually)
    As you see it become quite complicated.

    I have Creative Suite 5 and I use a PC platform.  I need to disactivate the licence for two PCs that I no longer use so that I can activate the licence on my new PC (Windows 8.1).

    I have tried contacting Customer Care, but again the web site seems to take me around in ever decreasing circles and I have yet to achieve sending a message to them.  I don't know what an over activated state is - is this like having too much to drink?  But seriously I don't actually understand the terminology that you are using Jeff.  I have already tried using the activation-deactivation link but can find anything helpful here either.  The Chat function seems to be permenantly unavailable here for me in France irrespective of what timezone I try during normal office hours and as I mentioned above I cannot seem to reach the point where I am able to send a message to Customer Care - is there not a normal email address that I can write to or even a telephone number I can ring to try and arrange to be able to make use of the software I have paid for?
    I like to think of myself as someone who is pretty IT literate, but I am feeling very frustrated by the seeming impasse in being able to install and activate my software on my new PC.

  • CS3/CS4 Creative Suites Web Premium installation conflicts

    Scenario: I installed Creative Suite CS4 Web Premium using Windows XP Pro with SP3 and all the required computer specifications while I still had Creative Suite CS3 Web Premium on the computer. All went well for a while and then Flash CS3 started acting up by not being able to close the program without using Task Manager. I decided to uninstall Flash CS3 (deactivated it first) and tried reinstalling it.
    Problem: I haven't been able to reinstall it. It seems that CS3 and CS4 use the same Shared Components and when the reinstall is completed, the install report shows that Flash CS3 was not installed as well as several Shared Components of CS4. During the reinstall of Flash CS3, the install occasionally asks for the CS4 disk, so I remove the CS3 disk from my primary DVD drive, insert the CS4 disk, click OK and then it asks for the CS3 disk again (ok, that's fine). At the end of the reinstall, the install report says the the shared components failed because the reinstall was looking for the CS4 shared components on my secondary DVD drive. So I then put the CS3 disk again in my primary DVD drive and put the CS4 disk in my secondary DVD drive and tried the reinstall again. It failed again and the report now says its looking for the CS4 shared components in my primary DVD drive.
    Does anyone know what is going on here? Thank you for any help you may be able to supply.
    You might ask why I don't just move completely to CS4 and the reason is that I'm trying to finish a project started in CS3. I could move completely to CS4, but I should be able to have both programs on my computer. At least, I would think so.

    You need to tell us what Creative Suite version you're using for us to help you.
    Also, did you try to migrate your copy from one computer to another?

  • Oracle database 10g and symantec ghost

    i'm working on trying to install oracle database 10g on a bunch of computers in a computer lab here at my university. we are using symantec ghost to manage all of these computers. like normal, i installed oracle database 10g enterprise on the build machine. i pushed out a new build to all of the computers but when the ghosted computers attempt to start oracle up to get the database running, it fails. i have been told by the instructor who teaches the course which needs this software that it is probably due to the hostname of the machines changing... does anyone know if there is a way around this problem? i am not familiar with oracle at all so i apologize if i am using any terms incorrectly.

    If it failed what error message you have? Without the error message it's hard to comment.
    It seems you not only installed Oracle software, you also created a database.

  • Creative Suite 3 Unistall Issue with Illustrator

    I recently uninstalled CS3 from laptop as I no longer require it on this machine as I have changed jobs, this left me with a separate version of Illustrator CS on my list of programs. When I try to uninstall Illustrator I get an error message
    "Illustrator CS has been installed as part of the Adobe Creative Suite and can only be updated by using Creative Suite installer.
    To use this stand alone Setup program instead, you must first uninstall Illustrator CS"
    I am trying to uninstall Illustrator CS when this message appears so don't understand why.
    Any suggestions?

    I'm running Windows Vista Home Premium.
    The steps I took were go to Control Panel-Uninstall Programs. I uninstalled Adobe Creative Suite 3 which deleted fine, I also had a separate program for illustrator.
    When I select that program and uninstall an InstallShield Wizard comes up, starts to run then errors saying
    "Illustrator CS has been installed as part of the Adobe Creative Suite and can only be updated by using Creative Suite installer.
    To use this stand alone Setup program instead, you must first uninstall Illustrator CS"
