Creative Suite CS4 Mac system requirements?

Hi,
This is  my mac PowerBook G4
Processor 1GHZ PowerPC G4
Mac OS X Version 10.4.11
Memory 1GB Ram
Can this mac be compatible with Adobe Creative Suite CS4 Design premium?
I read the adobe requirements for CS4 and it say Power PC G5 - mac OS X 10.4.11 and up, so how do my Mac fit in this requirements, or I have to stick with Adobe CS3?  Thanks.
Dean Pham.

I sent email to Adobe customer support and they shot me with a FAQ link.  What a support? I think they can do a little better than that with all the money Adobe is making from selling the most expensive softwares of the kind.
What more do you expect? They have already posted the minnimum system specifications on the site. There's no way for them to tell you whether it would work with less that the minnimum on your machine. Too many variables.
Even if someone comes along with the same system specs as yours, there's no assurance that you can get it to work if they did unless you have a carbon copy of their machine.

  • CS4 Mac system requirements

I have two conflicting answers and I need the right one.
The CS4 Master Collection, system requirements say Multicore Intel Processors
Will it run on a G5 Dual Core with a PPC processor or will it run ONLY on a Dual or Quad Core (MAC PRO)
    plz advize
    rdeter

Listen! I don't mean to come off nasty but if you opened your eyes and took a look at the CS4 products you WILL see that certain apps work in pre Intel Macs . I'm looking at the list right now.

if you look at the Web design Premium and a few other Suites underneath the master suite they all run on PPC G5 pre Intel
Now my question again, is it possible to run the CS4 Master Suite on A pre Intel Mac? I do not need any other apps except to run except
    Photoshop
    Flash
    Dreamweaver
    and
    Illustrator.
To be even more specific, If I took the CS4 Web Design Suite (which loads and runs on pre Intels - Loaded Dreamweaver CS4 and then for argument sake took a Master Suite copy of Flash CS4 and tried to load it (remember it says no pre intel macs) Will it work?
Do you understand my question? Reason I ask is I have someone that has the CS4 master Suite that is willing to give it to me for way cheaper than new. So if I could take advantage and save about 800.00 I would like to.
Sorry for the angry tone but it costs a small fortune to be right on the learning curve.

  • Adobe Creative Suite 5.5 system requirements

    Hi all,
I have been looking at the trial version of CS5.5 and was disappointed to find out that two of the main programs I was interested in do not work, specifically Adobe Premiere and After Effects
As a user of Windows XP Professional 64-bit edition running on a modern 64-bit system, I would have expected those two products to function without difficulty, Having looked at Vista and rejected that because of the awful user interface and rejected Windows 7 for the same reason(same awful user interface) are there any patches available that could enable these two programs to run happily under XP x64.
I look forward to your responses

    Hey Bob,
    Thanks for your response.
Yeah I guess it's like onion soup (as the old saying goes) you either love it or hate it, I am really having a hard time with Windows at the moment, on the one hand I like the openness(damn, is that even a word) that Linux offers i.e. being a fellow geek(I build my own systems too), I like that I can see what is happening, but there is a lot to be said for the turnkey type thing that you mentioned, and I can see the advantages of 7 I just wish they would change the interface, Vista was horrible what with all of its problems and yes I can see that Win 7 has sorted those out for the most part, I guess it's the old rock and hard place scenario after all there is not a Dreamweaver for Linux ... yet ... if there was, Adobe could make a killing, but I am sure they are looking at that.

Again, there is no support for XP64 for any Adobe product in any version.
If you have them running on that system it’s as much a matter of luck as anything else.
Everything else seems to run fine but there is a 32-bit emulator built-in, something Microsoft call WoW 64

I really happen to like Win7 and moved to it the day it was released after using Vista 64 for a couple of years. I’m a bit of geek and build my own systems but for the most part I just turn the key and it goes. J
Vista 64 I bet you had fun and games with that

The CS5.5 products I use run very, very well (i7 w/16 gigs of RAM) but I don’t use video apps. You might want to pop over to the Premiere Pro or After Effects forums and see if anyone there can offer you some encouragement one way or the other.
    i7 16GB, nice, I just have a mere i4 with 2GB of RAM(hey it was cheap)
As regards the Premiere Pro or After Effects forums I guess I will get the same response, maybe when I am back working regularly I will invest in Windows 7, I believe the Home Edition is around £99-00, but, knowing me, I will go for the Ultimate version which I believe is around £199-00 because as a PHP web developer I have HTTP, MySQL, SMTP and FTP servers running most of the time.
The video thing is just something I want to play with, hence my original post(to add a few more strings to my bow, so to speak)
I am also looking at some other video editing products but having checked the reviews AE comes out 4th on the list.
Anyway, thank you for your time Bob.

  • Use Adobe Creative Suite CS4 with Windows 8.1 (64 BIT)

    Hello,
could you please help me: I installed CS4 on my PC. But now im looking for a new PC, which I will buy in the next days. Is it possible to use the Creative Suite CS4 with a new PC, which has 64 Bit (Windows 8.1.)? ) Or should I buy a PC with only 32 Bits, as it is recommended in the system requirements. Will it give problems? If yes: Which one?
    Thank you!

64bit versions of Windows support 32bit apps. This point is utterly irrelevant in the grand scheme of things. There will definitely be problems, but not because of CS4 being 32bit. More to the point you should be concerned about driver compatibility and the security stuff in Win 8.1. which is something you'd have to take care of in any version.

  • Creative Suite CS4: Problems with font managing software

It seems that there are some issues of the applications of the creative suite CS4 with the font managing software MainType (http://www.high-logic.com/maintype.html).
With standard settings, CS4 no longer recognizes PostScript Type 1 Fonts loaded by MainType (which did not occur with CS3 and older versions). The only solution so far is this workaround:  Within MainType enable under "Tools -> Options" the option "Copy Type 1 Postscript fonts to Windows fonts folder" and CS4 will load these fonts again.
This seems to be a bug of CS4. Are there problems with other font managing programs?
    regards
    fabian

After reading tons of forums about this issue, it does seem to be an issue with CS4 not recognizing fonts the way that CS3 did. Wish they had mentioned that little feature when they released it. They even go as far as to say they do not support certain programs for type handling in Windows. Copying them to the system folder is a workaround, but it is not available easily in programs like Extensis' Suitcase, which is long overdue an upgrade. LinoType beta tested a new application for Windows, but when I sent an email to them asking about the release date for the their final version, their ignorant customer support sent me a link to their website pointing out that it is not yet available, and not answering my initial question of when.
I don't entirely blame Adobe, it seems as though a lot of companies have dropped the ball on this issue, and since many people have Type 1 fonts they've been using for years, they will have to repurchase (if available) those fonts in the newer OTF format which everyone seems to support. OTF is a much nicer format and more portable cross-platform, but it's simply inconvenient to not be able to use all of your fonts at your own discretion easily. I'm not sure what the big deal was with not including support for Type 1 fonts, unless that's most of the reason that the Adobe apps were crashing before... corrupt versions of the fonts they talked us into purchasing, etc... Adobe used to make ATM for managing postscript fonts, but it doesn't work on Vista to my knowledge. It would be nice if they would recommend a font manager other than the Windows system folder.
I figure Adobe was hoping that it would not be a major issue since their wonderful PDF format has taken hold for printing. Print shops do not have to install fonts before printing a piece anymore. Most people will read in these forums about the loss of support, throw up their hands and shake their heads, but do nothing about it. After all they too probably purchased the CS4 suite without knowing about this issue and have already spent their money. It doesn't look as though it's an issue on the Mac, but by the time you throw $3000 at an entry level Mac workstation and $1600 at the basic adobe apps, that's not a solution either. Especially when you have to go out and buy all new fonts anyhow, since the macs will not support the Windows postscript typeface formats either.
After doing a little price shopping for typefaces, I'm trying to try to keep using the few OTF and TTF fonts I've purchased since they're still working, since the prices of fonts these days are astronomical. I've installed a few fonts in the system folder, but too many and Acrobat distiller crashes. It's not cost effective to spend all of your income from design on $1600 font family sets, just to make changes to a document where you might have used a postscript face. Especially in this economy... It's another case of the investor getting rewarded for the release of an application and the customer is left holding the bag. Hopefully it's a bug, but not likely. It's probably some mandated decision by the higher ups in Adobe.
I'm sure larger companies with hundreds of employees probably have site licenses for typefaces in the OTF format, so for them it's not a problem, and since most people using PCs to do design opted for that platform because of the cost issue, Adobe probably doesn't care about them either. Maybe a solution will arise in the future, but it doesn't look likely. You will probably have to get the new formats of typefaces one by one.

    Bonjour.

  • While upgrading Adobe Creative Suite CS4 ME into Adobe Creative Suite CS5.5 Design Premium, I get an error saying This serial number is not of a qualifying product, please try another. I used to be able to get a code from customer service but I can't get

While upgrading Adobe Creative Suite CS4 ME into Adobe Creative Suite CS5.5 Design Premium, I get an error saying This serial number is not of a qualifying product, please try another. I used to be able to get a code from customer service but I can't get to the chat. Please advise!!!!

MoeGhazal I reviewed your account and it looks like you have have upgraded from a CS4 volume license for Design Premium to a retail upgrade of Design Premium 5.5.
I also show that you made two purchases of CS5.5 Design Premium but the second purchase was canceled.  Please make sure you are utilizing the serial number which ends in 7886.
If you are using the correct serial number then it is likely the installer will not recognize your volume license CS4 serial number as being valid for an upgrade.  If you can contact our support team then you can be walked through an unlocking procedure to allow you to proceed with the installation.  You can contact our support team directly at Contact Customer Care.  You may want to try installing a web browser you have not previously utilized.  It is likely a toolbar or some other software application is affecting your ability to access chat support successfully.
If you are still unable to reach our support team then please verify the information under your account is accurate.  If you can please then update this discussion after confirming this then I can request a member of our support team contact you directly.
Again I would recommend reaching out directly if possible as it will be the most efficient method of resolving your current error.

  • Problem installing Adobe Creative Suite CS4

Hi, I am having a problem installing Adobe Creative Suite CS4. I have uninstalled CS3 and installed my new CS4 and it installs fine. I go to open one of the programmes such as InDesign and I get an alert message "Licensing for this product has expired". I used to have a trail version, so uninstalled that too and still get the same problem, is there anything I can do?

  • Thinking of purchasing Illustrator 10 - what are the Mac system requirements

Thinking of purchasing Illustrator 10 - what are the Mac system requirements. I have a G4 10.4 and a MacBook Pro OSX 10.9 Maverick!

    Hi, welcome to the forum.

Did you actually mean version 10, as in Illustrator 10 from 2001?
    If so:
    • Your G4 with OS X 10.4 (2005-2007) would probably run it, (using Rosetta if needed / PPC based).
    • OS X 10.9 will definitely not allow install or run it.
    Illustrator 10: System Requirements
    • Macintosh: Power PC Processor G3, G4, or G4 dual; Mac OS software 9.1, 9.2 or Mac OS X 10.1; 128 MB Ram; 180 MB available disk space; For Postscript printing, printers capable of Adobe PS levels2 or 3.
    • Windows: Intel Pentium II and above; Windows 98 and above; 128 MB Ram; 180 MB available disk space; For Postscript printing, printers capable of Adobe PS levels2 or 3.

  • Adobe Creative Suite CS4, printer, dongle ALL refuse to work with Mavericks

I have made the disastrous mistake of 'upgrading' to OS X 10.9 Mavericks. Now my HP printer won't work. My 4G dongle with my laptop no longer works and EE can't help at all with finding a suitable driver. And my Adobe Creative Suite CS4 is no longer compatible and isn't even supported any longer. So my 27-inch iMac is now just a piece of worthless junk.
    Can someone please advise?

I think you'd be much better off asking in the Acrobar forum, Acrobat
