Creative Suite Product Naming

Maybe it's just me... but the product naming for Creative Suite 5.5 is so confusing to new users, or even experienced users for that matter. In my organization (200 + designers) we have switched to using the version number when referencing the products because of the confusion.
So instead of saying "Adobe Creative Suite 5.5 which actually contains Adobe Photoshop 5.1 which is actually Adobe Photoshop 12.1"... we just say 12.1.
At a minimum, couldn't Illustrator and Photoshop have taken the CS5.5 name for consistency sake... they cost the same anyway?
Love the products anyway.

This can take up to 6 weeks and in the current madness with the CC release, everybody will be busy. Contact support directly by phone, web chat, contact form or whatever, if you are in a rush.

  • Trouble with incomplete installation of Adobe Creative Suite Production Premium

    Hi,
I tried to install Adobe Creative Suite Production Premium from CD:s, but half way through the installation something went wrong and installation was abruptly interrupted and cancelled. I then went to disc 1 again to try and re-install the program, but then it says that I already have an installation (even if it is incomplete) and that I have to finish installing the one I have already started. But I cannot finish the one that is already started because I can't find any way how to continue an installation that has been started.
    What can I do?

Nobody can tell you anything without proper system info or other technical details. We don't even know what version. For starters run the cleaner tool and try again.

  • Creative Suite Production Premium - *NO* Manuals

I unfortunately mis-posted this issue on a thread on another creative suite product.
I have Creative Suite 3 Production Premium and a nice large box of manuals. I LOVE the hard copy manuals. They are a nice reference when you need to find something or (gasp) read with a book in your hands.
I ordered CS4 PP and was pleased to see it arrive.....but was shocked to find a little box of media, a few cards of advertisements....and that is it!!!!
I call and was told that hard copy manuals will be available in December for something like $25 or $30!!!! And that they can be found somewhere on the media in PDF's.
I can understand a $29 piece of software doing this but for a package like this, I seriously think that reference quality manuals should be included.

I guess different people work in different ways.
I honestly never read the hard copy manuals that came with previous version
of the products. They remain shrink wrapped here somewhere. I've never found
them overly helpful and usually find the answers and explanations I'm
looking for elsewhere (books, online tutorials etc)
I suspect that Adobe surveyed the market, responded to feedback and
discontinued shipping printed manuals for cost, weight and environmental
reasons plus the fact that they're difficult to update easily, in cases of
patches, updates or errata, unlike the online livedocs.
Perhaps waiting for printed manuals to be ready may also have some impact on
shipping dates? There's also the issue of localization and translating them
    into many different languages.
Those that want them can pay a small extra fee for them.
I prefer PDF manuals on DVD, or livedocs, which I can search quickly for the
small number of items I want to look up.

If you downloaded it then presumably it downloaded as a compressed file, likely a .dmg file.  If so double click it to mount the dmg as a folder on your desktop.  Open the folder and you will see the files.  Drag the folder to a location of your choice. e.g., Applications).  Then you should be able to execute the application in that folder.
Just to confirm, when you said you "put the software in the iMac", what was the name of the "software" file you copied?

  • System Build for Creative Suite Production 4

I am looking for feedback on this system I am researching to build for upgrading to Adobe Creative Suite 4 Production Premium
    :(from Creative Suite 2 Premium)
All components will go into an Antec P180 ATX mid tower case
    Intel Core 2 Quad Q9450 Quad-Core Processor, 2.66 GHz, 12M L2 Cache, 1333MHz FSB, LGA775
    Intel DX48BT2 Extreme Series X48 Desktop Board, ATX, DDR3 1600, 3xPCIe x16, 1600MHz FSB, LGA775, Retail Motherboard
    I will be using
Seagate Baracuda Sata 300 drive for my applications and another Sata drive for media storage with a plan to upgrade to Sata raid when I get into HD editing.
OCZ Platinum 4 gig DDR3 memory
Corsair 750 Tx 750 watt power supply
Initially I will have an Nvidia Quadro fx540 graphics card with plan to upgrade to Nvidia Quadro 1700 for HD, HDV editing
Running Windows XP professional for now
As you can see from my upgrade path I also have a question on use of CS2 for the upgrade.
    Thanks in advance
    James

The answer is the same as in your other thread: It will work, but it's not gonna be much fun. It's still a pretty weak processor and the intel graphics will very likely prevent hardware acceleration features in Photoshop (required for 3D) and InDesign (Flash encoding and interactive authoring) from working properly or at all.

  • Upgrading policy for future Creative Suite products

Sorry if this topic has been addressed elsewhere. Has Adobe announced what policy will be in place when CS7 and 8 are released? Will we need to be one version back in order to take advantage of upgrade pricing or will they allow you to be able to upgrade from 2 versions back? I'm debating whether or not to go the subscription route or to skip CS6 and wait until CS7 to upgrade.

    Bob Levine wrote:
First let's be clear. I do not work for Adobe and at this point have no
    inside knowledge of roadmaps.
That said, Adobe publicly announced one year upgrade cycles so you can
safely assume, if they hold to that, that you will see CS7 in the
spring. When that happens, only CS6 owners will be eligible for upgrade
pricing so there's no more skipping versions and getting an upgrade.
Based on that, it is my personal opinion that Adobe wants everyone on
Creative Cloud. It assures them a steady cash flow and quite frankly,
for a professional, it's a no brainer. You get every tool they sell for
$50/month and you get the new versions when they become available. This
is cheaper than upgrading and the first year is only $29.99/month.
    Bob
    Bob,
Thanks for your insight.  I know when you compare the retail price of a Creative Suite the monthly Cloud does work out, but when one has been upgrading and is a small non profit user of the apps it is hard to justify the $50/month (approx. $600/year - which I agree is half of the Suite retail).  A decision I don't have to make right away, although the $29.99/month first year is tempting.  A close friend was surprised I had CS6 as he was still using CS3, since we're not professionals and both work in the non profit arena and fund our own software (99% at least).  I told him I've been lucky to be able to work out the costs via upgrade prices - although I have to "go without" for a bit to cover it competely.  We'll see what the future brings.  I agree that most likely the future will be Creative Cloud - I can see the writing on the wall.

  • Creative Suites Production Premium questions

I recently ordered the 5.5 creative suites package & had a couple of questions.
Is it correct that I can install the software on my home system & also on another machine at work?
I was also looking into purchasing  magic bullet suite 11 , but am unsure what host I should choose.
I have FCP 7, and with the suite will have premiere CS 5.5 & After Effects as well.
Will the plug ins only be in the primary host I select upon purchase?
Or will they be in accessible for all three applications?
    THANKS

I can have it on 2 computers as long as they are only used by me & not open at the same time.
The host for Magic Bullet is for Red Giant's purposes only & I was able to access the plug insin Premiere, FCP, and AE.

  • I bought creative suite production cs6from Adobe and I have downloaded all the programs. However CS6 premier Pro does not open. A message says to upgrade mt video driver. This I have done but it still will not open. Please help Brian Dowdall

I have the CS6 production suite. All the programs work except Premier Pro. It starts but tells me I need to upgrade my video software, which I have done.
Can I rpair or  reload the Premier pro again without effecting the other programs in the suite which all work well.
    Brian Dowdall

Nothing to do with the program. Something is not right on your system, but since you haven't provided any proper technical information we can't even begin to guess.

  • Creative suite production studio after effects will not accept serial number

I have had this program installed on my XP 32 bit machine for years.  I have never tried AE and need to create an alpha channel for a video clip.  When I opened the program, it asked me for the serial number.  I typed the serial number on my software case and it said it was invalid.  What to do?  I cannot afford to upgrade for more reasons than just the software.  I will have hardware issues with newer versions.

Support is wrong. Only they can fix serail number issues since only they have access to the databases. Try again and request a different operator.
