Creative Suite Units problem

i recently upgraded to yosemite, and now my Indesign documents all open in picas, EVEN THOUGH I have reset to inches in Preferences and restarted, etc. etc....how can I get my preferences to 'stick'?

  • InDesign/Creative Suite Installation Problem

    I just installed Adobe Creative Suite 5.5 to a new iMac, using the Adobe chat to assist. Both Photoshop and Illustrator open without any problems. But InDesign will not open. I did use the Mac Migration Assistant progrtam to move everything from my old iMac to a new iMac, which in hindsight I"m not sure I should have done. Any ideas on how I can get this resolved?

  • Creative Suite CS4: Problems with font managing software

    It seems that there are some issues of the applications of the creative suite CS4 with the font managing software MainType (http://www.high-logic.com/maintype.html).
    With standard settings, CS4 no longer recognizes PostScript Type 1 Fonts loaded by MainType (which did not occur with CS3 and older versions). The only solution so far is this workaround:  Within MainType enable under "Tools -> Options" the option "Copy Type 1 Postscript fonts to Windows fonts folder" and CS4 will load these fonts again.
    This seems to be a bug of CS4. Are there problems with other font managing programs?

    After reading tons of forums about this issue, it does seem to be an issue with CS4 not recognizing fonts the way that CS3 did. Wish they had mentioned that little feature when they released it. They even go as far as to say they do not support certain programs for type handling in Windows. Copying them to the system folder is a workaround, but it is not available easily in programs like Extensis' Suitcase, which is long overdue an upgrade. LinoType beta tested a new application for Windows, but when I sent an email to them asking about the release date for the their final version, their ignorant customer support sent me a link to their website pointing out that it is not yet available, and not answering my initial question of when.
    I don't entirely blame Adobe, it seems as though a lot of companies have dropped the ball on this issue, and since many people have Type 1 fonts they've been using for years, they will have to repurchase (if available) those fonts in the newer OTF format which everyone seems to support. OTF is a much nicer format and more portable cross-platform, but it's simply inconvenient to not be able to use all of your fonts at your own discretion easily. I'm not sure what the big deal was with not including support for Type 1 fonts, unless that's most of the reason that the Adobe apps were crashing before... corrupt versions of the fonts they talked us into purchasing, etc... Adobe used to make ATM for managing postscript fonts, but it doesn't work on Vista to my knowledge. It would be nice if they would recommend a font manager other than the Windows system folder.
    I figure Adobe was hoping that it would not be a major issue since their wonderful PDF format has taken hold for printing. Print shops do not have to install fonts before printing a piece anymore. Most people will read in these forums about the loss of support, throw up their hands and shake their heads, but do nothing about it. After all they too probably purchased the CS4 suite without knowing about this issue and have already spent their money. It doesn't look as though it's an issue on the Mac, but by the time you throw $3000 at an entry level Mac workstation and $1600 at the basic adobe apps, that's not a solution either. Especially when you have to go out and buy all new fonts anyhow, since the macs will not support the Windows postscript typeface formats either.
    After doing a little price shopping for typefaces, I'm trying to try to keep using the few OTF and TTF fonts I've purchased since they're still working, since the prices of fonts these days are astronomical. I've installed a few fonts in the system folder, but too many and Acrobat distiller crashes. It's not cost effective to spend all of your income from design on $1600 font family sets, just to make changes to a document where you might have used a postscript face. Especially in this economy... It's another case of the investor getting rewarded for the release of an application and the customer is left holding the bag. Hopefully it's a bug, but not likely. It's probably some mandated decision by the higher ups in Adobe.
    I'm sure larger companies with hundreds of employees probably have site licenses for typefaces in the OTF format, so for them it's not a problem, and since most people using PCs to do design opted for that platform because of the cost issue, Adobe probably doesn't care about them either. Maybe a solution will arise in the future, but it doesn't look likely. You will probably have to get the new formats of typefaces one by one.

  • Adobe Creative Suite Installation Problem

    I have Adobe Creative Suite 3 Design Standard that I'm trying to install on a Windows XP Version 2002 Service Pack 2. When I insert the disk a message pops up saying that the CD is either corrupted or there is an error with software. I checked and this version of suite should be able to work with my version of windows. Help please!

    copy the disk contents to a desktop directory and install from that directory.

  • Creative Suite Installation problem

    I lost my original Dreamweaver 8 during OS change to Vista - I successfuly downloaded the 3  Disc Creative Suite to my desktop. Right clicked "Run As Administrator"  to begin the download to my C:\Program Files
    After  Disc 1 is complete, the installer stops and asks to insert Disc 2 to  continue. After I right click "run" again for Disc 2, disc 2 does not  continue the installation, but I am asked to install it in another  folder.
    Any idea how to continue this installation properly?
    I read the install notes but could not find a solution.

    I had downloaded Creative Suite from the Adobe Site. I started to install it from the .exe file and eventually received a message that I needed Administrative Priviledges. I am the administrator and the computer says I cannot change to a Standard setting?

  • Phototshop Creative Suite download problem after deleting Photoshop from my computer.

    I uninstalled photoshop now can't reinstall it and more through the Creative Suite. I use Chrome as a Browser and try to download the latest version of photoshop. I can see it in my Creative Suite under apps but I cant choose download again. It just says that its updated!

  • Creative Suite 3 Problems

    Hi,
    I have been having issues with my Adobe Creative Suite 3. My programs have started to Crash on me when I go to Save or Save As, no matter what I do in them.
    Is there any way that this can be fixed? I am not able to get much done without being able to do this.
    Is it as easy as Un-installing and then Re-installing the programs?

    Without proper system info and other details nobody can say anything, but yes, reinstalling would be a start.

    After dowloading the CS5 Design Premium, I get an error messagin stating "A problem occurred while extracting the archive. Please try downloading the Adobe CS5 Design Premium again." I repeated this process multiple times (8) to no avail. I am trying to download the CS5 design premium on my new laptop, but don't have the software cds to do this. Thus, I can only download the software but after i download the two files required, that error message appears. (I already have my serial number). I have tried disabling my Antivirus as sometimes it detects the files as virus and removes them while downloading. I have also tried downloading after performing Selective Startup.
    Can Adobe mail the software cds instead of sending download links?

    I have uninstalled CS3 creative suite from my computer - installed Windows 7 and reinstalled CS3 creative suite.
    Problems:
    1. some of the tekst in menues ar in Japanese and som in English!
    2. Atter reinstallation i can´t import my MXF file from Canon XF300, wich i could before at HDV .
    I Have tried to uinstall again and then reinstall, but it does not solve the problem.
    Can anybody help?
    I have also tried to find at direct way to contact adobe, by mail or phone, but i can´t find the informations.

    I would try to use the Adobe Cleaner program to clean off all CS products:
    Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6
    Then do a clean install of CS3 from your discs.
    Then if you're still having problems with a specific application, I'd ask in the forums for that application.

    I went into the PC settings and tried to change the display resolution. This changes the size of all  the icons (not only Adobe) but it does not solve the problem when I open an Adobe application (Photoshop or Illustrator)... The PC is run under Windows 8.1 and my display resolution is 3200x1800 (but again, when I change the settings for a smaller resolution, only the size of the icons is affected. Once I open the software, the problem is still there, extra-small toolbars...). Help!!!

    Anything before CC is not high-DPI compatible. Feel free to continue to experiment with your system settings.
