Creative Vision W : Stuck on "Firmware Problem" scre

I've had my Vision: W player for about a year now, with no big problems (except for the fact that when I shut it down, it gets stuck on the "shutting down" screen for about 5 minutes, where I think it closes only because it's the idle shutdown. Any help on that, also?)
Yesterday I tried teh Sync for the first time, seeing if I could syn DVD movies onto it. (I couldn't.) This morning, when I wanted to use it, I turned it on and it said "Firmware problem"
This was before coming onto the forums. Well I decided to "Clean Up" and after that it still didn't work. I tried rebooting a couple of times, but nothing. Then, it being a firmware problem, I decided to press reload firmware - not knowing what i was doing. I decided at that time that it would be a good idea to back up my files before proceeding to any other ste
ps.
After connecting it to my computer, it simply said "Storage Media - 50 GB of 50 GB" and was completely empty.
I, being devastated and helpless, found this site and decided I'll download the firmware then try reloading it again. Unfortunately the first time I tried updating it, it stopped updating near the end. I waited about 0 minutes but it still didn't finish. I disconnected my player and removed the battery because it wouldn't shut down any other way. After replacing the battery, connecting the player, and turning it on again, it simply got stuck on "Firmware Problem" on the screen.
What do I do now?

I tried doing that but it doesn't work. The firmware upgrade screen doesn't see my player as connected. I've tried having the palyer off, then turning it on, and disconnecting/reconnecting but even while it's connected the player isn't docked and still has the firmware problem screen.

    Hello
I switched my Creative Zen Vision : M 30gb on today to find a firmware problem screen.
I tried to dock it with my PC but it was not working.
Tried using the reset button but it doesnt work
Tried going into recovery mode to reload the firmware but when i try to put the update on its says my player is not connected.
I tried using the MP3 recovry tool which recognizes my player but then when it tries to install the firmware it says it is not connected.
The firmware it is trying to put on says it for the 60gb model, would this stop it from reconizing my player?
It says it for a DVP-HD0004 but on the back of mine it says it is a DVP-HD0003
Could anyone find the right software because i cant find it's

The first step is to do a cleanup >reboot on the player if that don't work? then while connected uninstall thru Device Manager, reboot computer then plugin to have Windows find & reinstall the player, if that? doesn't work then format, cleanup>reboot player to see if that solves the problem. loosing files is a last resort . Whatever you do DO NOT choose RELOAD FIRMWARE as you don't have recognition from the computer & can not reload it. RELOAD firmware ERASES the firmware making the player useless until it can be reloaded. Link for resue/recovery access on player? http://forums.creative.com/creativel...ap&thread.id=3

  • Creative Zen Vision 30Gb Stuck in Recovery Mode, Freezes when trying to deal with Firmware

My Zen Vision is stuck in Recovery Mode. The PC recognizes it but it comes up as 50mb Storage Media. When you touch Reload Firmware or Format All, it freezes and you have to pull the battery out to shut it off. I don't know what to do. Charges fine, never said anything about HARDWARE issues, just can't get it to not freeze when trying to load firmware back onto it.

I did the same thing, my unit was working perfectly.
I just read that these players have a laptop 2.5 hard dri've installed in the unit. If this is true, the next chance I get, I will take my unit apart (40 gig nomad zen xtra) and see if I can reinstall the firmware directly. It's probably what they do at the repair sho

  • Creative Zen Vision M 30gb firmware problem

My mp3 player took a spill onto the floor and it worked fine after. after i was done using for the day i shut it off and then the next day i turned it back on and it went to safe mode and said there was a hard disk problem. i was able to successfully format it. now when i start it up it says there is a firmware problem. i tried reloading it but the firmware i got off Creative.com doesn't recognize it, but my computer does.
    Any suggestions?

A Firmware Problem is like when Windows gets corrupted and won't boot.
You probably need to Reload the Firmware through the Recovery Menu, but I'd try a Disk Clean-up first, on the off-chance that it's a less serious problem.
Be sure to back up all your files first, as there is a chance that they'll get wiped when you reload the firmware.

  • Zen Vision M Firmware Problem!!! Can't deal with this thing any more...

Can't deal with this thing any more...3 Hello friends I'm new in the forum
Well as the title mentions, I'm about to throw this thing oute of the window!!!
    It's a 30 GB Zen Vision M, I own it ,5 years now...
I have read all the relevant posts in the forum about this player, I tried my best, nothing really worked.....
So now I have a Zen which only boots in the recovery mode!!
I have Cleaned it Up, Formated it, and tried to reload its firmware BUT when I connect it and try to reload it, in the end it always says Firmware Upgrade Failed!!Really can't understand it!!!!!
I've communicated with Creative, i wasn't at all satisfied with their responses... I think what they're trying to do is to avoid me, and earn some time with really useless suggestions which I had already told them won't work!!!So in the end they wanted me to send my Zen in Italy and pay more than 100 Euros for what an ,5 year old mp3 player? No I prefer buying a new Cowon with that amount of money!!!
Anyways I'm pretty mad now, so I'll move to the subject..
I have Service Pack 3 Windows XP in my computer, and I did roll back on the Media Player 0 from the I had, using the instructions from a previous post. The truth is that it rolled back with less steps than it showed, and I say that because it mentions in a step that in the add-remove programms, in the Windows XP-Software Updates section, I should find a Windows Media player thing which really doesnt exist and I suspect it's the Service Pack 3 because I have done the same in a SP2 and worked exactly as the steps said..Anyway the fact is I have Windows Media Player 0 now!!!
Please someone tell why can't I upgrade my firmware... I can't deal with this anymore!!!!

Why isn't this player working?I've seen many people, not only from here, who have the same exact problem and they gave up on their mp3... I dont have this kind of luxury to buy a new one!!I don't know whether Creative has put on this a "time bomb" or is just faulty, but I really wish it could be saved..
I'm saying it is WMP0 because the firmware file sees the player. The computer can recognize it but with WMP components that firmware file would be grayed-out..So when you reloaded the firmware did you choose "reload firmware" Before you connected it's?(That is what erases the firmware prior to uploading the firmware. If you did not do that it could cause it to fail.Do these ste

  • Zen Vision 30GB Firmware Problem - No solution wo

I have a Zen Vision 30GB (not a Zen Vision M or W, just a Zen Vision). On Friday I was trying to add songs to my Zen and halfway through adding the songs I got an error on the computer saying "player not connected". So I undocked the player, turned it off and reset my computer. Saturday morning I turned on my Zen to try to add songs again and I got the error message on my Zen?"Firmware Problem" and it put me in "Recovery Mode". The first thing I did was try to reload the firmware, but when I plugged the Zen to the computer it says "docked", but I cannot move through the menu. When I unhook it from the computer I can move through the menu. BTW I am running Windows Vista 32-bit. I have uninstalled the Zen software and installed the software off the Creative website for Vista, but when I try to run the firmware it says "Player not connected, please connect player."? When I plug the player in via USB my computer recognizes it and prompts me if I want to sync my player, so there isn't anything wrong with my USB connection. The?Device Manager recognizes it however Windows Media Player does not. I get the same error message when I try to do the Recovery Tool on the Creative website. I have looked for solutions on the forums and just doing Google searches, but I have not been able to get anything to work. Please help me!? The player is less than a year old. I have never had any problems with it before, never been dropped or anything like that, so i am not sure what is going on. Any help or suggestions would be great!? I sent an email to customer support yesterday and the reply I received this morning was no help. First they thought I had the Zen Vision M, even though I specifically said I had the Zen Vision and gave them the serial number and everything. I sent them back a message today and hopefully they can help, but it is frustrating having to send an email and wait around for a reply.

Re: Zen Vision 30GB Firmware Problem - No solution works\ I recently had this problem with a player i got off Ebay. What I did was format>cleanup>reboot the device thru the recovery screen on the the player. Problem solved . Be advised this will erase all the files (music ect.) http://forums.creative.com/creativel...ap&thread.id=3

  • Creative Zen micro: "Firmware Problem&qu

hey, i have a Creative zen micro (orange, 6gb but i think it doesent matters"), but when i turn it on, it says "Firmware problem".
and it goes to the menu (think is called Recovery menu) and it shows:
    Creative Zen Micro V0.0.65
    1.Clean Up
    2.Format all
    3.Reload frimware
    4.Reboot
now creative tells me to download a new firmware.
    i did.
    then to "RELOAD FIRMWARE"
and click on the upgrade, but then it says that there is no player connected, and my compuer does recognize it.
is there any way to fix this or is my zen busted?

I had a simalar problem with my Zen xtra, if it failed durng a firmware update and its stuck in recue mode try this:
Remove all creative software and drivers from your P.C
remove windows media player and media player runtime ( from control panel/add/remove programs - if you have them listed there) you should see it go through a rollbackl procedure to an earlier version of wiondows media player.
Downlaod the latest firmware for your player
    Re-boot/re start your P.C
Go to the creative support website, and download the plays for sure software suite
    listed as:
<i>. Creative MediaSource Plugin for PlaysForSure devices (version .00.8)3.98 MB 28 Apr 05 </i>
install the software by clicking on it.
RE-boot your P.C, with your player conected via USB
once your P.C re-starts, go to the location where the firmware was downloaded to and get ready to start the upgrade
Copnnect your player to its charger ( unless it charges via USB)
On your player slect the reload OS option in the rescue menu
When prompted by your player start the firmware update on your PC.
<i>with the Zen xtra firmware you had/need to select the language option in the update on the P.C when the p[layer displays the 'update over USB' message.</i>

  • My Zen Vision:M is giving me a Firmware Problem Err

I was wondering if any of you may know what the cause of this problem is. I go and turn on my Vision:M today and it boots up the Zen logo, then proceeds to tell me "Firmware Problem"
So, it proceeds to boot up into recovery mode like normal when this happens.. I have tried everything! The player just "hangs" (not freezes, it still responds when I touch the pad, just doesn't do anything) when I try and "Reload Firmware" and "Cleanup" and "Formatting".. I select "Reboot" and it just repeats this process over again. What is going on with this player?
I have the newest Firmware btw... and when I try to reinstall it through Windows, it always gives me a "Firmware Upgrade Failed!" error.

Ok I think I figured out what was wrong.
. Old firmware - updated firmware stated it resolves an issue - Ensures that subscription and purchased audio files can resume playing when you turn your player on after a prolonged period of time.
Other thing is that I hadn't plugged in my zen to rhapsody in a couple of days. Playing my zvm directly from media source.
What was weird, I could play songs that was on my ZVM through creative media source without an error, but as soon as I unplugged it from the computer to play through my headphone I would get the error.
I updated the frimware, went over to rhapsody let it read my songs, and all is happy at the moment.
BTW is there anywhere I can read what sync-ing mean in the mp3 world first tiem I tried it it wanted to sync any audio file on my computer. I don't really understand syncing. Thanks

  • Zen Vision:M - firmware problem

    Hello!
I'm having some trouble with my Zen Vison:M 30 GB (I'm using Windows Vista 32-bit with SP2). After resetting the player I got the message "Firmware problem". The player displays this message until the battery is empty and if I reset the player once again it takes approximately 5 minutes "rebuilding libraries"(at least that's what I think it's called in English)?and then the "Firmware problem" is back.
Well, then I downloaded the MP3 recovery tool from Creative. After recharging the battery the recovery tool recognizes my Zen, downloads the firmware and... tells me that the player is not longer connected (it is actually).
Does anyone know how I can update my firmware or reboot the player? Any help would?be appreciated!!

It would be best to update the firmware on the XP computer. If you have WMP on the Xp computer you will need to rollack to WMP0 for the firmware file to see the player & update it.http://www.microsoft.com/windows/win...ionofthePlayer Emailing Creative will? tell you to come here & you already are hereMessage Edited by coachop94 on 07-20-2009 03:29 AM

  • Creative Vision:M -- FIRMWARE WARN

DO NOT UPGRADE TO THE LATEST FIRMWARE, CREATIVE HAS DISABLED FM RECORDING ABILITY TO PLEASE THE RECORDING INDUSTRY!
    Quoted:
(Interesting (and I think important) aside: I recently updated the firmware on my Creative Vision:M mp3 player, a player I've absolutely loved for its features, ergonomics, screen quality, you name it, there was hardly a thing about it I could find fault with. As the new firmware was installing I browsed the release notes... looking for the standard blah blah blah on what's fixed, what's new. The very last line of the notes said (paraphrasing), This firmware upgrade will disable your FM recording capability(!). WTF? It was too late for me to stop the upgrade -- sure enough, I now have a Creative Vision:M sans FM recording capability, (a feature which I was quite fond of)! Creative doesn't say whether it's RIAA induced, I have no idea why they did this... but if it IS more DRM crap, what a crock!)Message Edited by Segmented on 0--2006 04:49 PM

I thought it was already established that the removal of the FM recording funtion was due to unavoidable legal obligations.
Now I'll tell you this, when I learned there was a new firmware availible. I read the release notes as well as the comments from the consumers posted on Creative message boards and other websites. I decided that I would be much more satisfied with my Zen Vision M if I left it alone.
If I had not researched the firmware first, and just upgraded, I'd be pretty pissed off, and would have no one to blame but myself.

  • Creative Zen Micro Firmware problem: "Device not connected, please connect your devi

After an exhausti've search, I've found the fix for losing your firmware and not being able to update it via download from the creative.com. To explain my problem, I had issues with my device connectivity, so I tried to option of reloadinging my firmware via Recovery Mode (option 3, 'Reload Firmware'). After selecting this option, I tried to download and update my firmware via the creative.com website. The module to update my firmware displayed the error message "Device not connected, please connect your device." After about 2 hours of trying various suggested fixes, I found a relati'vely easy fix by running together various suggestions I found for other problems. First rollback your Windows Media Player (WMP) via the instructions found on this page: http://www.auditmypc.com/uninstall-m...layer0beta.asp. Restart your computer after rolling back WMP.
When your compter restarts, insert the "playsforsure" CD labeled "Easy Start CD." Follow the directions for reinstalling WMP. After WMP is reinstalled, restart again. When the computer restarts, return to the CD and follow the directions in the prompt. Reconnect your device when prompted. Once you reconnect your device, it may not function right away. If this is the case, go to the 'Start' button, under 'Control Pannel,' select 'System.' Under 'System' select 'Hardware' and then 'Device Manager.' Find your portable device under 'Uni'versal Serial Bus controllers.' Click on your device and select 'Uninstall' from the small icons at the top of the window. When this is completed, unplug and plug your device back in. After this is done, click on 'Scan for hardware changes,' also a small icon at the top of the window. If your device had the problem mine did, it should now be recognized. Go back to the Creative website and download the latest firmware. The module should now find your player without any problems.
The only thing I can figure is that the "playsforsure Easy Start CD" must have a device driver that solves the problem that you can't find anywhere else. I hope this helps someone out there (tech support was telling me that I was going to have to ship my device back to the company I bought it from to get it exchanged...which would have taken at least a month, I'm sure). Good luck to you all.

For all of you non-technical Micro owners:
I found a fix for this that I hope will help others out.
When I want to Sync tracks to My Zen using Yahoo Jukebox or WMP, I simply reboot my machine with the device PLUGGED IN. After Windows starts up, my applications recognize that the Zen Micro is connected. Good Luck.

  • Zen: Micro....Firmware Problem, Stuck in Recovery m

I got my Zen Micro in September and I have never had a problem with it until now. I connected it to my computer to charge up this morning since the battery was running low. Then this afternoon when I got home, I turned it on and it quickly flashed a screen saying "Firmware Problem" and then it goes straight to Recovery Mode. It will not exit Recovery Mode. I have tried redoing the Firmware, but it will not allow me to.
This is the first problem I have had with the player and I have never done anything with it except upload music and play music....no trying to download new applications or software, etc. It has even been quite a while since I have put any new/took any old music off the player.
Has any one else had this problem? Can someone offer some advice? Also...would this problem qualify under the warranty for the player? Thanks!

    [size="6">It Works
!!! Thanks so much for your assistance. After reading all the replies and related messages I finally gave up everything and did a search for everything that had to do with Zen Xtra and deleted it.....deleted it from Windows Device Manager, Windows Media Player, Real Player, Audible Manager, all files that had "Zen" in it....gone. I emptied my recycle bin, unpluged the player, rebooted my computer, let Windows find a driver for a "portable device" (I had already rolled Windows Media Player AND the WMP Runtime to version 0 prior to posting to the forum), downloaded the most current driver and firmware for the Zen Xtra, installed them and it works!?The really sad thing is, all this time (and yes, my time is worth something), aggrivation and stress could have been avoided had Creative seen fit to make one little note on their web site where the download is. All they would have to do is put a note in the description that you *must* have Windows Media Player version 0, that it will not work with version . I'm really disappointed in the Creative support...that really sucks. But I really do want to thank you for your assistance. You saved me from denting my wall with this thing and saved me from having to replace it. Thanks,Trax

  • Creative Vision M Prob

I've had this same problem going on for about 6 months now. My ZEN vision M 30gig is stuck in Recovery Mode with the 4 options. I've tried every single guide there is. WMP is not installed. Nothing from creative is installed. I've tried downloading the "new" firmware update from Creative's support page.
Is there a way I can ship in the MP3 player and have a professional work at it's

If you feel you need to update the firmware DO NOT USE THE RECOVERY MODE OPTION!
!!! If you do it will immediaely erase the firmware from your player leaving you without any hope of ever getting it back on. Seems that for the firmware update .exe file to run it has to st recognize your existing player through it's firmware. But if you have already erased it it will not install. I ran into this exact problem, but made the huge mistake f following the User Guide to update the firmware. After I selected that option on the player I re-connected to my PC and the unit was no longer recognized - because there was no firmware on the player any longer. Nice software write, huh? After 2 calls to tech support was told that?I should not have used that option - all I had to do was simply download the correct firmware update .exe file, and then run it while the player was already properly connected to my PC. Sounds easy - but why did NONE of the documentation say that? It only says to use the Recovery mode option. So until I am given a solution by Creative on how to install firmware on a player with none - my unit DOA. Good Luck
