Creative wall adapter broke my Zen Vision:

Okay, I am having a problem.
So I bought the Creative ZEN power adapter for my player, I bring it home, turn my player on and then off and plug it into the adapter expecting the screen to turn on, but it doesn't. I unplugged it to see what the problem was but now the screen won't turn on anymore. So basically my zen's turned off and won't turn back on. I'm suspecting that the DC adapter broke it because I obviously didnt and it like died right after I plugged it in. This is thoroughly upsetting as I bought the official DC adapter and it specifically states that it's for all zens except for the nano and nano plus, and I have a creative zen vision: M, so this really shouldn't be a problem.
Does anyone have any suggestions or insight as to what's going on? This is really upsetting me.

I had a very similar problem with my Vision:M. It worked fine until I tried to use the official creative adapter, and then it would only go to the background screen with the adapter icon in the top right corner. I couldn't actually use the player, and when I unplugged it, I could not get it to turn on again. I tried to reset it, but it would not do anything. I have been able at least to transfer the files from the player to my computer by connecting both the power adapter and the USB cable at the same time, but I still cannot get the player to function as a player. So basically, all I have now is a very expensi've external hard dri've. This is extremely frustrating, and I would also appreciate any advise anyone could give.

  • Nexxtech USB Wall Charger compatible with Zen Vision

I was wondering if the?Nexxtech USB Wall Charger (http://http://www.circuitcity.com/ss...oductDetail.do) would work with the Zen Vision M. I'm going on a trip this week and need a cheap wall charger (less than $20)?that I can go to the store and get it (no online orders). Thanks,

hey thanks for the fast reply!
that sounds good. one more qs:
is there a cable available that allows to sync & charge directly from player to usb without using the little dongle attachment thingy. I find it ridiculous that Creative went with a propriety connection! I don't fancy lugging that around everywhere...

  • Creative Zen Vision:M Anoun

    http://www.engadget.com/entry/2340005707380/
"Creative is introducing their new Zen Vision:M, an answer to Apple?s <FONT color=#337788>5G iPod, and what an answer it is. We know it gets old hearing every new player get compared to Apple?s flagship offering, but can you seriously blame us here? The specs are vaguely familiar, with a 2.5-inch screen at 320x240 resolution and a 30GB hard dri've, though thankfully Creative squeezed in 4 hours of video playback, doubling Apple?s endurance on at least video. (The audio playback conks out at hours.) The size of the two players is virtually identical, with the Zen Vision:M only changing it up on thickness ? at about twice the iPod?s 0.43-inches.
They?re also forging their own path on button placement, sporting a layout similar to that of their <FONT color=#337788>Zen Micro Photo, and including a vertical scroll pad. Creative did add their usual FM tuner and voice recording niceties, and they have a decent list of video format support, including MPEG-4, WMV, Motion JPEG, DivX, and XviD, so this $330 player could turn out to be a worthy candidate for video capable commuting buddy ? if Apple?s lawyers don?t have something to say about it first. What do you think?

Covered in 3 or 4 other threads I think. These boards do get confusing though. Too... many... posts!

  • Ebay ZEN Vision M AC Wall Charger...Safe To U

Hi. I purchased an AC wall charger for the Zen Vision M from Ebay, as mine didn't come with a mains charger included. It's the type that fits directly into the Zen itself and not the dongle. On the back of the plug it says:
    Input : 00-240V 50-60Hz 0.2A
    Output : DC 5V A
Any tech people out there confirm it will work and will be safe to use?
    Cheers
    Tony.

    Hi,
You have a zen sleek photo - I have a zen sleek and the adaptor is the same as the vision:m won't that fit's

  • Zen Vision:m 30gb doesn't work properly with Windows 7 64bit

I recently upgraded my pc from an old xp machine to a new one running windows 7 ultimate. Creative says their media player software that originally shipped with the zen does not support windows 7, so i should use windows media player (the version that ships with windows 7; i cannot find a help dialog box with the version number). Creative also says that the zen vision:m uses only microsoft MTP drivers, so I don't need to upgrade any drivers and it should be compatible. However, although the zen vision:m connects fine and I can see the mp3 files on the zen HDD, I cannot play them in the main windows media player screen. I can only double click on files and play them in the small windows media player window without any controls. Of course, I can't import any of the zen mp3 files into the music library in windows media player or set up any playlists. I checked every menu item and dialog box that i can think of on my zen and in windows 7, but nothing appears to be relevant to this problem. Any ideas, other than buying a brand new mp3 player? TIA

When you connect it & open it WMP click on the SYNC tab of the program. Choose the files you want to sync to the computer then hit SYNC . The files should transfer to the computer. (check your settings as to where you want the files to go.)

  • Please, please bring out a Zen Vision:M with integrated digital camera!

Is there some chance to contact the development division of creative and ask for a Zen Vision:M with integrated digital camera? there are mobiles out there with 0 Megapixel cameras and they don?t have a 30 GB disk space.
There would be nothing better then have this nice Vision:M mp3 player with an integrated camera..
one additional use for Vision:M besides using for listining to mp3 is to keep and carry around photos with it anyways.. so why don?t they bring it our with camera? wouldn?t need to take photos with another devise, transfer these photos to the pc/mac and then transfer them back on Vision:M.... just carrying aroung one devise would be so much better... but I guess that is also some marketing stuff... first sell this generation of Vision:M, and then wait some time and come out with the new generation of players, with finally integrated camera... or maybe just wait, until ipod brings them out first... anyways, I really don?t see a technical problem for this...
Olympus m:robe 500 put a mp3 camera on the market a couple of years ago, though it can't really compete with Vision:M on the mp3 player part.
    any comments from anyone?

I actually disagree, reason being that when you take into account the cameras that are build into the phones they are at most adequate, 2MP is the current theme (at least in UK I think). The option/settings/tweeks with the phone cameras is poor when you look at it, stand alone digital cams offer better features compared with phone digicams, then you have the power too, to dri've a good camera if you have one then you know required decent batteries, storage (ok you have a hard dri've so that is sorted) but take into consideration that you will always get better results with a digicam than phone cameras and you can see that would be a waste of time for the time being.
There is an old saying "Jack of all trades, Master of none" and this seemes to hold true to the phone cameras. Don't get me wrong it would be nice to have it only and only if you have all the features of the stand alone one with big resolution and so on, heck I have a Nokia 6230 and like it very much but my old 3.2MP Cannon (by all means not the best and not the newest?in the world) gives me far better/superior results than the the one on the phone even can. What would be cool to have is a port where you can hook them both up and use the Mp3 players HDD to store (I know you can on some Creative players) your snaps without having to buy or have attachments, just plug a mini USB and you are off. Technology as always moves forward and an astonishing reate and new gadgets?come out?and quality improves, battery life lengthens and so on, so we might even see this happen. Ttill the time where they are on par with most consumer digicams?I will be?witholding in buying one.Message Edited by RobertM on 03-0-20062:57 PM

TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM OF WINDOWS XP NOT RECOGNIZING YOUR PLAYER

  • Zen vision LCD crack after

I refer to RMA reference number SHQ-Y-37374,i went to creative HQ SG to repair a bass problem in my earphones today, i went back collecting the player on the same day with the problem solved. While on my way back, watching a movie on my zen vision i found a pixel

on the LCD which cant go away, the LCD was flawless prior the RMA. Being a regular customer of creative with myself owning 2 zen vision 30gb, megaworks550w, zen V, zen microphoto, and a XFI fatality,i have a very good experience with creative, however i am very upset how the backend staff handle my rma equipment and hope that something could be done about this.

  • Creative Zen Vision M no longer charges with the wall char

I have had a zen vision M for about 5 months and have never had a problem with it til now. I was listening to it this morning and realised it needed charging so i plugged in the charger as well and all was fine. It seemed to charge for awhile and then it stopped and the charge went backwards. Now every time i plug in the wall charger (that came with the player when i bought it in July 2006) it just shows as being on AC power unless i hold it in a specific position. I have it plugged into my computer at the moment and it seems to be charging. the blue light is on and the battery is showing as charging. How do i know if its a problem with my charger or not - i tried my PSP charger as i had seen that in some posts on here and the same thing happened. I think its something internal. I don't want to send it anywhere as of course its out of warranty and i don't want to pay for anything.Anyone have any ideas. I read something about firmware fixing battery charging ability but then it wipes out FM recording - not that i use it that much but i still use it.Anyway im wondering if anyone has any ideas or if anyone else has had the same problem. I searched high and low but i could only find people with charging problems when they first bought the units.Any help would be appreciated as i like to listen to it at work and my work computer won't accept my player as im not an administrator so i can't install it etc. I need to be able to charge it either at home or at work so i can listen to it. Thanks for your time in advance, i really hope someone can help me as i love this groovy player and i just lectured my sister the other day on how much better than an ipod it is and now it goes and does this. Thanks again

It seems to have fully charged. I left it on while i went out and it now says it has full battery although it still seems to be charging. Does that mean there could be a problem with the AC charger slot on the adapter? Is there any way to buy a new adapter? if that seems to be the problem. If i upgrade to the latest firmware can i go back to the original if necessary?

  • Will my old wall charger for Zen Vision:M will work with the (New) Z

i bought a wall charger from amazon for my Zen Vision: M 30GB, will it work with the (New)Zen? i just bought the Zen 6 GB and it doesn't comes with an adapter, pretty bad move there, well, does it has the same plug? i hope it's compatible. thanks

    sebastiankf,
That third party adapter from your Amazon link is hard wired specifically for the Vision:M and will not work with any other Creative player unless it has the same pin-outs using the same docking interface. The Creative AC-5V adapters will either have a coaxial power plug connection that will work with most of the Creative hard disk based players, except for the original NJB and Zen Micro, or a USB Mini-B plug that will work with all of the flash players that have a USB connection and the Zen Micro.

  • HELP!!! Creative Zen Vision M - unresponsive in ANY way...NEED HELP!

Ok, so this might be a very simple question to answer, but I'm very worried.
Pretty much, I had been using my Creative Zen Vision M (30 gig) for a long time, but stopped about a year ago. The batteried drained, and I didnt get around to charging it.
Now, it's been about a year, and I've tried plugging in the Zen into my computers to charge.
There is NO recognition of the player, no yellow alert, no new device alert, NOTHING.
The blue light at the top DOES NOT flash
And My media explorer thinks that it is not connected to the computer.
I've read a lot about Zens going black, and the blue light keeps flashing, but literally, from the time I plug in the Zen, to when it's sitting on my shelf, I notice no difference. I cannot turn on the player and it wont charge.
I tried using USB ports in the back, as well as leaving the zen plugged in all day to "Charge". Over 8 hours later, and the player does not budge.
I do not own an adapter to the Zen, but I tried a 4.5V sony one, and recieved nothing.
    The simple question is:
After letting the player drain, and die after just under a year of no use, has my player bit the bisquit's
    OR
Is my battery (or firmware, which unfortunately I have no idea what it is, but it sounds like I can upgrade without having the player turn on) simply taking it's sweet time to recouperate.
PLEASE LET ME KNOW!!! I am very desperate to get my player working again.

Leave the player connected to the computer & use a REAR USB port(with the computer on) for 24hrs. Or use a wall charger to charge the battery . It may take a hour for it to just start charging plugged in but once it does let it FULLY charge. That means until it stops blinking the battery icon it full & the player cuts off when done. Now I know Creative wall chargers are not easy to find & they are not cheap. The Sony PSP wallcharger is compatible with the players adapter(plugs into the center hole on the dongle) Also to get it charging after it has been connected for a time hit the Reset? while connected. Not easy but doable with a thin pin.

  • Creative zen vision:m will not turn

ok. so i got the creative zen vision:m mp3 player for Christmas and has been working just great until now. i plugged it into my charging accessory (http://creative.com/products/product.asp?category=3&subcategory=57&product=5050 ) yesterday and today i unplugged it and now it will not turn on. it was low on battery so i plugged it in...is that a reason for it to die
!!! i've tried the power and reset switches multiple times, as well as the combination for the maintenance menu. it still doesn't turn on. if i plug it into either the regular mp3 player to computer or mp3 player to wall power adapter all that happens is that the power led on the top blinks every few seconds. the display doesn't turn on or display that it's "charging" and when i plug it into the computer it doesn't recognize it. why isn't it working

I had same problem with my 30gb ZVM.
I had run down the battery a lot, but not to the point of the unit actually shutting itself down. So I?plugged into PC for hours;?charging icon?blinking away as usual. Thought everything OK until I disconnected and?would not turn on. The power on blue light by the switch would only flash briefly and then . . nothing. However - I then went into recovery mode - no problem - by hitting reset button as per instructions. Could see the battery icon showing no charge. Since that seemed to rejuvinate it I then exited?that mode and tried charging again. This time it took a charge and several hours later showed full battery charge. But then I made the biggest mistake ever - decided to update the firmware because of the charging problem. So I followed directions EXACTLY - downloaded new Firmware file onto PC first so it was ready to go, and then made the fatal mistake of going into Recovery mode and selecting the Update Firmware option - all as per instructions on-line and in user guide. The ZVM then immediately erased current version in player, and then said "ready for firmware update".
So I assumed - since no further instructions were given - that I had to connect unit back to PC and run the downloaded firmware file. When I did though the ZVM was no longer recognized by the software - kept telling me that no unit was connected. Unit showed in Device Manager, but not seen by WIndows Media or Creative Media Explorer. This then started the wasting of 2 days (so far) of my life trying to get firmware re-installed. Unit is now totally DOA because it has no firmware installed, and the Creative software on my PC will not update the firmware because it does not recognize a player which has no firmware installed. What were they thinking? See my post on this problem from earlier today.
From several calls into customer "service" I was told that I could have updated firmware just by running the downloaded file when the ZVM was normally connected - did not have to go into Recovery mode. That's nice to know now, and would have been critical to know 2 days ago - but why did the documentation say absolutely nothing about that? It only said this could be done through Recovery. Now I understand why so many posts about Creative are from totally frustrated users wasting their li'ves fighting with awful software and bad documentation. Great player - terrible documentation - awful software.
So my advice to you is:>?try hooking up to you PC and see if unit charges that way, instead of through charger.2> If no luck - go into Recovery mode by hitting reset button as?per?instructions. If you can get there,?select Reboot and then shut off. Hook up to charger again and see what happens.3> If still no luck - sounds like unit is still under warranty. Call Customer Service (405) 742-6622 and ask that they send UPS Call Tag to pick up unit from you to be sent back for repair. I am guessing that this player does not like to have the battery heavily discharged, somehow related?to?asoftware issue as well (surprise surpirse).
Will probably be fixed in future firmware update. Good Luck

  • Creative Zen Vision M 30g wont dock

Creative Zen Vision M 30g wont dockt Hello,
Purchased the above player off of ebay, the player works in everyway but will not dock with the computer. I bought this for my son for Christmas because I have one and love it. Mine docks with the computer but his will not. When I try to dock the connection will turn the player on but the docking symbol will not come on.
I have tried several different connector clips and usb cables and nothing, but all of the same clips and cables work just fine on mine. Also, when I use the wall charger for the player that does work and does charge.
Any suggestions, and also could for some reason could the connection part at the bottom of the player be damaged in some way?
Ive tried the reboot suggestion, Ive formated the player and nothing works.
    Sincerely,

Yes that could be .You may want to return to the seller if you can.Are you using WMP? Try opening Media Player & going to the sync tab to see if that helps it to load the driver for recognition.Formatting the player again could help also. In the past I have had to format more than once for a player to be seen by Windows.

  • Creative Zen Vision M not fully charging

(Creative Zen Vision M not fully charging( Hi, I recently bought a refurbished ZVM that doesnt seem to charging properly. When I first got it, it hadnt been charged in quite some time so the battery was overdead. My PC couldnt detect it when I connected it via usb and it didnt even start charging at all. I then connected it to a wall charger and it finally started charging. The strange thing is it never fully charges. I've charged it twice now, both times for at least about 2 hours, and the battery doesnt go more than 50%. And when I connect it to my PC to transfer songs, instead of resuming its charge, my battery runs out. Is this a case of a faulty battery? I li've in Australia and I bought it from the USA. I would prefer not to go through the trouble of returning it if I could. Anything I should do like leaving it to charge for an even longer time? Also one more thing I should mention. When I remove the wall charger and plug it back in, it takes the ZVM sometime to detect it, about 30 minutes or so, and start charging again. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I have the exact same problem. I just mailed mine in for repair today.
