Creative Webcam Notebook VF0030 - Win 7 Driver

I just recently received a Creative Webcam Notebook VF0030 through a freecycle program, and I am struggling to get it working on Windows 7. I believe the included driver only works for XP/2000/98, and I'm wondering if there's a compatible driver out there somewhere so I can get this working?
Thanks muchly,
~Zoe

  • Creative WebCam Notebook PD1170 max non software interpolated mode?

    MODEL:
    PD70
    PRODUCT NAME:
    Creative WebCam Notebook
    PRODUCT HOMEPAGE:
    http://www.creative.com/products/pro...53&product=629
I brought it at the days of 2004 when the mic was yet not included in the package case.
    QUESTION:
What is the physical hardware capability for image resolution (not software interpolated) of the PD1170 web camera to capture still images?
    FEATURES
    http://www.creative.com/products/pro...duct=629&nav=0
capture sharp and highly-detailed video and snapshots at up to 640 x 480 resolution.
    640x480 (VGA) image sensor
Featuring an advanced image sensor at 640 x 480 resolution, get true color reproduction and detailed videos every time you use it.
    SPECIFICATIONS
    http://www.creative.com/products/pro...oduct=629&nav=
    Highest Still Image Resolution: 640 X 480
    Highest Video Resolution: 640 X 480
I suspect this "Highest Still Image Resolution 640x480" is "software interpolated" because the FEATURES-page uses the wording "at UP TO to 640 x 480 resolution" and by other Creative web-cameras the pictures with biggest dimensions are usually taken with software interpolation mode enabled.
Creatives marketing seems to have taken care that different web cameras seem to be incomparable as the product webpages dont offer consistent information.
I have limited storage space on hard disk and I want to run "Capture at regular intervals" session over a longer period of time, pointed at construction site.
If I would know the maximum resolution mode, which is not software interpolated, then I could optimize my disk usage by taking the still image shots at the maximum physical resolution the camera actually can handle and get the best quality out of it at the minimal cost of hard disk capacity consumption.
And then afterwards if I need pictures which would look bigger, then interpolate the taken shots manually by myself with IrfanView or Photoshop or with whatever program that can resize image.
I assume, that running webcam with the software interpolation enabled is basically equal to what I can achieve afterwards with Photoshop or Irfanview if I make the picture dimensions bigger in previously mentioned software programs.
Currently I have taken still image shots at regular intervals in 640*480 mode outside my window.
The picture quality is poor, yet 640*480 images in BMP format consume huge amount of disk space (900KB each).
I have already some tens of gigabytes saved onto HDD... ;D
As the image quality is already poor as it is, I dont want to use JPG format, because JPG is lossy format and therefore it would make a poor image look even more poor.
Because of the 640*480 image quality looks poor, I assume that the image quality in 640*480 by "PD1170 Creative WebCam Notebook" is alreay software interpolated and therefore it would make much more sense to make still image shots at some lower resolution such as 352x288.
    Am I correct?
Therefore I need to know the maximum non interpolated mode. So..
What is the physical hardware capability (not software interpolated) of the PD70 web camera to capture still images?

the Device Manager error message reads:
Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)
Click Troubleshoot to start the troubleshooter for this device.
Also, i followed the instructions to do a clean boot, and installed it that way (after uninstalling it first, obviously) and it still gave me an error message in the bottom corner saying there was an error installing the hardware. To clarify this, after the wizard directs me to connect the Webcam, it automatically closes, and the error message i see, i believe, is from Windows.
To make sure i'm doing this correctly, and know what i'm talking about, i want to lay out what i've been doing. I downloaded the driver from the Creative website. I made sure that i had no existing drivers or anything on my system for this equipment. I then simply "run" the driver installation, and follow the directions until it directs me to insert the camera, at which time the wizard closes, and i get the error message.

Does everone know a possibility to get the Cam working I'm realy upset about the driver-policy from Creative.

Can you click on the details for the error report and post up what it says. If it reports something about Apple causing the problem then you could try updating your QuickTime to the latest version.

  • Drivers for Creative Webcam Notebook ACVB1170

    Hi!
After searching in the support page and forums i simply can't find "any" drivers for this little webcam, because i've lost my installation cd. I'm currently using XP and OSX. I would greatly appreciate if anyone posted a link to the drivers.
    Thanks!

Windows XP doesn't support Parallel Port webcams, so I do not believe it is even possible to make such a driver. That webcam was also made back in 994-95...
    Sorry.

  • Webcam Notebook

Help needed as Creative's support isn't enough. Running Windows XP Sp2 on a Fujitsu-Siemens Amilo M7400. Installed the software according to instructions. Installation hangs at 5% and after re-started again at 6%. Boring stuff. After prompted to connect the camera the system detects the camera as a "Creative WebCam Notebook" but says there was a problem with the hardware installation: "Cannot Install this Hardware" - "Creative " - "An error occurred during the installation of this device" .
Downloaded another driver from Creative's download pages, but didn't help. Updated BIOS and all system and hardware drivers. Still the same error message. Uninstalled, installed, followed all suggestions by Creative Support but... "back to square one".
Is there anyone with the solution or should I throw the camera to the rubbish

    Hi Agnes,
Thanks a lot for your reply, questions and suggestions. I solved the problem by simply clean installing the Operative system. Apparently the problem was with the OS and not with the camera. I will keep it and won't throw it to the rubbish.

  • Creative webcam driver for windows x64

Hi! i'm looking for a driver for windows xp x64 for my creative webcam go but i dont find it. Is there a driver from creative or a generic driver?
    Thanks

    fredn,
You can find a compatibility list in our knowledgebase by searching for article SID7824. Unfortunately, it appears that the WebCam Vista and NX have no development planned for x64.

  • Driver for Creative WebCam Vi

I have get driver for Creative WebCam Vista

    Hi
Two ways to find the type number.
What Operating system are you using?
Open your PC case and look the serial number of your sound card.
    #2
Run System Information tool and see from Components/Multimedia/Sound device what
    PNP device ID says.
Fill this (change x with numbers) with your numbers
    DEV_xxxx&SUBSYS_xxxxxxxx.
I can solve then the type.
You can download the full (I think) Li've! driver package from : check your PM.

    Windows 7, Home Premium. 64-bit.
    Error Message
"Insert a Disc; Please insert a disc into E: drive."
    Background
Pre-installed Windows 7 system on computer recognized CD/DVD ROM drive for about 3 months. Malware corrupted the OS. I re-installed the OS from the recovery drive's partition. CD/DVD ROM drive failed to read or write, and I cannot restore old files or back-up current configuration via CD/DVD ROM drive. All updates for Windows 7 and hardware drivers seem to be installed and up-to-date as of 10/4/2011.
    Troubleshooting Steps
    1. Tried to read audio CD. Same error message.
    2. Tried to read data CD-ROM. Same error message.
    3. Tried to read data DVD-ROM. Same error message.
    4. Writing to DVD ROM failed. Same error message.
    5. Re-loaded OS 2nd time. No change. Same error message.
    6. Checked with HP Support Assistant. DVD drive is recognized, but not media. No change.
    7. Checked Device Manager. DVD drive is recognized as TS-L633R.
    8. Driver is cdrom.sys version 6.1.7600.16385. Clicked Update Driver, no change.
    9. Tried uninstalling and re-installing the driver. No change.
    10. Checked BIOS. AMD Turion II P540 Dual Core processor 2.4Ghz. BIOS appears to be up-to-date, version F.27.
    11. BIOS lists CD/DVD ROM drive as bootable. Re-ordered drive to boot first and used Knoppix Linux boot disc, no change. Windows booted instead.
    12. Reviewed registry for "upper filter" and "lower filter" entries.  Checked registry 4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318. No upper filter or lower filter entries present. No change.
    13. Ran "Hardware and Devices Troubleshooter"; it cannot detect the cd/dvd. No change.
The drive has power, spins, is recognized by Windows 7 and the BIOS. However, it will not read or write CD ROM or DVD ROM discs.
I'm out of options.  What else can I do to make the cd/dvd rom drive read and write cds?
    Thanks for your help.  Matt

    Update:
I chatted online with Ben S. at HP tech support via the HP Support Assistant. Helpful guy. Thank you, Ben. He worked through it and his counterpart Alan is sending me a new DVD/CD drive. Ben S checked the following:
    1. Confirmed that I had tried multiple discs to check different formats: DVD-R, CD-RW, audio CD, video DVD, software data CD. None were recognized.
    2. CD/DVD icon appears in My Computer. Confirmed.
    3. Checked Device Manager for yellow exclamation marks. None present.
    4. Opened below Device Manager and checked for yellow exclamation marks. HP CDDVDW TS-L633R ATA device listed correctly. Redundant, but I understand; it's a good check.
    5. Confimed the Model and Serial Number.
    6. Asked whether I had done a System Recovery.  I had. Twice. First time it didn't restore the drive, so I thought I'd try it again. Second time also did not restore the drive.
    7. Ben S. concluded that the drive has a hardware malfunction, and offered drive replacement under warranty since I purchased in April. I should have it by Oct 17, and then I have 15 days to return the broken drive or I'm charged $80.
Alan offered an additional year of warranty service for about $100. Ben's guess on the root cause was a bad lens from stress on the DVD tray. I don't recall any stress events. I've had this laptop since April, 2011, and the drive failed at the end of September.  7 months. This surprised me considering I've got other notebook computers with drives that have lasted years and still haven't failed.
I'll check in when I get the replacement drive.

  • WebCam Notebook for 64 bits OS

Dear friends, I know Creative havent released a driver of WebCam Notebook for WIndows XP 64 bits, but there a way to make it works on it's. Maybe another driver or an open drive version!!!
I some on make it, I'd like to know... Thank to all that can help!

Sounds more like you have a network printer set up as a default. Change
it a local printer and see if that helps.
That said, XP64 is not supported, though Vista 64 does have some quasi
support. I'm running CS3 on Vista 64 and everything is great.

  • Creative WebCam Vista Plus on USB PCI Card (VIA VT 6212) on Windows ME - doesnt work !!

PC turns off when the Vista Plus WebCam is connected to the USB port on my USB PCI Card
I use a primitive Intel Celeron 300Mhz processor with 64MB RAM on an Intel 440BX-AT Chipset running on Window ME. I recently installed a USB PCI Card (based on the VIA VT 622 chipset) which is a 394/USB 2.0 Combo. The problem is my 'Creative WebCam Vista Plus' doesnt work with it.
After I had installed the drivers on the 'Creative WebCam Vista Plus' CD - that is - without connecting the webcam to my USB PCI card the installation asks me to connect the webcam to the USB port and When I do that the PC just GOES OFF !
It starts up only in SAFE MODE and each time I've got to restore my PC.
How do I get the WebCam connected to my PC ?
    Thanks in advance

9hours later and Ive given up. I cant get the Vista 64 Ultimate to work with the Audigy 2Nx usb sound card. Im very angry and very frustrated (not to mention very tired from the 2 late nights Ive spent trying to work it out). Im not a PC-noob, but am only 4days into my Vista ownership................... Im guessing now, after much research, that there will never be a driver that gets these units to work with Vista 64bit. thats pretty weak Creative. However, I dont want to use crappy onboard sound for my gaming. What is the suggestion?Should I be looking at returning this unit, and buying either the X-Fi Xtremegamer?Fatality Pro as?a highend device, or the X-Fi Xtremegamer for $00 less? Or should I be looking at another manufacturer. Would either of these x-fi gamers work with Vista 64bit Ultimate?suggestions please?
