Creative Webcam Pro Problem - Resolution.

Hi. I've recently dug up my old Webcam Pro and encountered out the following problem when using it:
All data sources indicate that it is capable of capturing video at 640x480/5fps, but this one captures it at a much lower resolution, probably 320x240 or 352x288. In the Creative Blaster control webcam monitor the maximum setting is 352x288 and I couldn't finf any more placed with the settings for the camera.
My question is - how to set it up to use the VGA resolution?

Umm... Problem solved - I downloaded the webcam center. Couldn't it be available to Webcam Pro as well on the download site? Webcam pro isn't even there, but it works with it.
Now I have another problem - the video look like if it had a constant grain-filter applied to it - it's simply VERY grainy and the grains do not move. Plus I'm getting only 0 fps max with auto-brightness and auto-exposure off.

  • Creative webcam Pro eX BSOD [usbuhci.sys] irql_driver_not_less_or_equal *helpp*

    HP Pavilion ZE 5500
    Windows XP Professional + SP2
Creative webcam Pro eX [driver version .02.0] (29 Jan 03)
So now i've been using this webcam for about 7 months with much pleasure as I can speak to my family in other countries and are able to see them and they see me while talking on skype and msn.
Sometimes my laptop just crashed with a BSOD (blue screen of death) and parse an error message about some problem with usbuhci.sys and then simply reboot the whole system.
The Creative webcam Pro eX produces this error when I am broadcasting for about 5-45 minutes on msn and occurs also with other video messaging systems and while recording or broadcasting li've streaming video-messages too.
It seems that for whatever reason the driver of the webcam is having trouble with usbuhci (as the cam is connected to an usb 2.0 port on the laptop) and after 30 till about hour the laptop crashes with this nasty BSOD and after the system was rebooted and the cam put back online again the same thing happens again but in shorter time frame somewhere between 5 to 5 minutes.
I have all the latest updates for hardware and software on my laptop, this includes the driver update for creative webcam Pro eX but this doesn;t solve the problem, furthermore XP says the drivers arren;t signed and could lead to instable system sorta like i'm experiencing right now perhaps..
Could someone please help me out here, it would be crazy if this could not be solved and me having to buy yet another webcam and so on every 7 months because of some driver incompatibility stuff :-s
    Thanks,

never mind i've sold my creative webcam pro ex to another idiot and going to buy a new one today, i looked at mediamarkt and saw some other creative (pro) webcams sold at almost the same price as my previous Creative Pro eX, however knowing how Creative thinks about updating drivers and misleading people saying the product is working with Windows XP when it does not, i will never ever in my entire life buy a product from Creative anymore..
think it's kinda stupid to say "hey my software is compatible with XP" when it's not and when it hassen't been updated for quite some time, do you live in 2005. you know XP has updated to SP2? right...
this expensive webcam has worked 7 months for me and now? it just keeps crashing my laptop saturating my USB, conflicting with [usbuhci] and then give a moran BSOD which i haven;t seen since windows ME :-s
the latest drivers for this webcam arren't signed and they do not work with Windows XP Professional SP2 so anyone who's planning to buy this webcam today, please buy it somewhere that has a return policy because this webcam was the best but now has become cripple.
one thing more, if you people at Creative are to busy with making money with products and don;t have time to develop working drivers then maybe consider giving out the source code so that serious developers are able to create working drivers for people that don't want to buy you're webcam every 7 months not because the webcam is broken, but because you where too lazy and money hungry just want to push people into buying yet another one of these webcams.
oh well not my problem anymore you will see someday the consumer strikes back and then you will be left with a magazine full of hardware nobody wants to buy cause the compagny doesn't provide updates on their own drivers and software..

  • Creative webcam instant problem:

Just recently bought this cam, worked fine for a week but now not able to record video: Getting message stating unable to capture video. Please check you have sufficient space on your hard disk. And the following are set correctly: - Video compressor-Audio compressor I know for a fact i have enough disk space, over 6MB Could anyone help. Thanks,Bill.

In the Creative WebCam Center software, go to Tools->Settings->Capture tab. You should be able to see a Video Capture option by the left side(make sure your WebCam is connected to the computer). Click that and then try changing the video compressor format used.

  • Creative WebCam

Does anyone have any tips on getting a Creative WebCam Pro to work on my G4 Powerbook? This camera is left over from my old PC and I would rather get this working than shell out for an iSight camera.
    thanks

    Hello Grashuepfer
If your "Creative WebCam Pro" is one of the newer ones that supports the "UVC" standard for USB webcams, you can use it with your PowerBook by updating to to the latest version of Tiger (Mac OS X 10.4.10.) Support for all UVC webcams is built into OS X 10.4.9 and later with no need for additional software.
If your "Creative WebCam Pro" is NOT a "UVC" model, try the iChatUSBCam and appropriate "macam" driver that Pismo 900 recommends above.

  • Big problems with creative webcam instant (sample included)

yesterday i purchased a creative webcam instant, and i am dissapointed in the quality of the video.
The frame rate is great, however there is artifacting and the video jumps around all over the place.
I have never had a problem with any other imaging devices before, so i cant see why this is happening with this camera.
This happens with the creative webcam center, and also in any other application that uses video from the camera (such as any instant messenger program)
Here is a .88 meg file to show you how the video jumps around.

Blah! The WEBCamInstant is "cheap" & nasty & for beach light only.

Did you ever install Acrobat? It is not installed automatically with CS, but requires an extra installation step.

  • WebCam Creative NX - Silly problems

    Hello all,
I bought the WebCam NC from Creative. After the installation I started the WebCam Monitor and could see a normal functioning video for some seconds bevor the monitor (only the WebCam Monitor) was freezing. (I use XP prof.)

My girlfriend has the same camera and it is functioning.
    Please help!

  • Creative WebCam Vista Plus on USB PCI Card (VIA VT 6212) on Windows ME - doesnt work !!

PC turns off when the Vista Plus WebCam is connected to the USB port on my USB PCI Card
I use a primitive Intel Celeron 300Mhz processor with 64MB RAM on an Intel 440BX-AT Chipset running on Window ME. I recently installed a USB PCI Card (based on the VIA VT 622 chipset) which is a 394/USB 2.0 Combo. The problem is my 'Creative WebCam Vista Plus' doesnt work with it.
After I had installed the drivers on the 'Creative WebCam Vista Plus' CD - that is - without connecting the webcam to my USB PCI card the installation asks me to connect the webcam to the USB port and When I do that the PC just GOES OFF !
It starts up only in SAFE MODE and each time I've got to restore my PC.
How do I get the WebCam connected to my PC ?
    Thanks in advance

9hours later and Ive given up. I cant get the Vista 64 Ultimate to work with the Audigy 2Nx usb sound card. Im very angry and very frustrated (not to mention very tired from the 2 late nights Ive spent trying to work it out). Im not a PC-noob, but am only 4days into my Vista ownership................... Im guessing now, after much research, that there will never be a driver that gets these units to work with Vista 64bit. thats pretty weak Creative. However, I dont want to use crappy onboard sound for my gaming. What is the suggestion?Should I be looking at returning this unit, and buying either the X-Fi Xtremegamer?Fatality Pro as?a highend device, or the X-Fi Xtremegamer for $00 less? Or should I be looking at another manufacturer. Would either of these x-fi gamers work with Vista 64bit Ultimate?suggestions please?

  • Creative WebCam Notebook PD1170 max non software interpolated mode?

    MODEL:
    PD70
    PRODUCT NAME:
    Creative WebCam Notebook
    PRODUCT HOMEPAGE:
    http://www.creative.com/products/pro...53&product=629
I brought it at the days of 2004 when the mic was yet not included in the package case.
    QUESTION:
What is the physical hardware capability for image resolution (not software interpolated) of the PD1170 web camera to capture still images?
    FEATURES
    http://www.creative.com/products/pro...duct=629&nav=0
capture sharp and highly-detailed video and snapshots at up to 640 x 480 resolution.
    640x480 (VGA) image sensor
Featuring an advanced image sensor at 640 x 480 resolution, get true color reproduction and detailed videos every time you use it.
    SPECIFICATIONS
    http://www.creative.com/products/pro...oduct=629&nav=
    Highest Still Image Resolution: 640 X 480
    Highest Video Resolution: 640 X 480
I suspect this "Highest Still Image Resolution 640x480" is "software interpolated" because the FEATURES-page uses the wording "at UP TO to 640 x 480 resolution" and by other Creative web-cameras the pictures with biggest dimensions are usually taken with software interpolation mode enabled.
Creatives marketing seems to have taken care that different web cameras seem to be incomparable as the product webpages dont offer consistent information.
I have limited storage space on hard disk and I want to run "Capture at regular intervals" session over a longer period of time, pointed at construction site.
If I would know the maximum resolution mode, which is not software interpolated, then I could optimize my disk usage by taking the still image shots at the maximum physical resolution the camera actually can handle and get the best quality out of it at the minimal cost of hard disk capacity consumption.
And then afterwards if I need pictures which would look bigger, then interpolate the taken shots manually by myself with IrfanView or Photoshop or with whatever program that can resize image.
I assume, that running webcam with the software interpolation enabled is basically equal to what I can achieve afterwards with Photoshop or Irfanview if I make the picture dimensions bigger in previously mentioned software programs.
Currently I have taken still image shots at regular intervals in 640*480 mode outside my window.
The picture quality is poor, yet 640*480 images in BMP format consume huge amount of disk space (900KB each).
I have already some tens of gigabytes saved onto HDD... ;D
As the image quality is already poor as it is, I dont want to use JPG format, because JPG is lossy format and therefore it would make a poor image look even more poor.
Because of the 640*480 image quality looks poor, I assume that the image quality in 640*480 by "PD1170 Creative WebCam Notebook" is alreay software interpolated and therefore it would make much more sense to make still image shots at some lower resolution such as 352x288.
    Am I correct?
Therefore I need to know the maximum non interpolated mode. So..
What is the physical hardware capability (not software interpolated) of the PD70 web camera to capture still images?

the Device Manager error message reads:
Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)
Click Troubleshoot to start the troubleshooter for this device.
Also, i followed the instructions to do a clean boot, and installed it that way (after uninstalling it first, obviously) and it still gave me an error message in the bottom corner saying there was an error installing the hardware. To clarify this, after the wizard directs me to connect the Webcam, it automatically closes, and the error message i see, i believe, is from Windows.
To make sure i'm doing this correctly, and know what i'm talking about, i want to lay out what i've been doing. I downloaded the driver from the Creative website. I made sure that i had no existing drivers or anything on my system for this equipment. I then simply "run" the driver installation, and follow the directions until it directs me to insert the camera, at which time the wizard closes, and i get the error message.
