Creative when some GOOD drivers

We are already to RC of Vista and Creative again no good drivers for my X-Fi !
Creative want to leave the sound card market ?
I spend a lot of money with all my sound cards from Creative in many years but I think that for the future I will think I will think and I think again before to take a new Creative sound card ... If that is the support (no drivers for Vista, upgrade drivers only after 6 or more month for XP !!) there will be something wrong on you, sorry.

Creative will do what it always does. Provide basic support onpar or less than integrated audio and then release a new Vista compatible audio card. They do it with pretty much all the other junk they fire out.

i have a story about my sister, am talking on her behalf, she got stolen her phone at a caffee when she just come from a horeble exam, she was very mad and having haedace for not doing well at the exam, i ask her if we could have coffee before we go home, once she sate; while i was getting the coffee for her, some one snicked to her pocket and took the phone, immidatly she feelt it and went on to searching, but nathing was hopefull. what makes it more heart braking is that she worked day and night just to buy the phone and pay for her books and so on as a student. she use to work 16 houres a day before she had to start school. 8 houres in one place and then to the other place. and she was always demanding for more houres to work; one day her boss saw her on her other job and she was serprised to see her and saied OHhh my God Milly if you work like this, i wonder if you servive, how could you also ask for more houres, My sis had to do it she has no parents or any thing, well the phone was taken after only two months of having it. the sad thing is she stile dream having it even though she can't think of buying againe. well me i have tryed a lot of things but i know some were out there there is a solution for people like this, it is not always fare for some one who has payed up to 800 to just loose his ......

I'm sorry, but your sister, unless she had already turned on the "Find my iPhone" feature and the person who took the phone has not disabled it, is out of luck. She should report the theft to local police authorities, including the serial number of her iPhone. While her experience is unfortunate, there are good reasons why Apple cannot do anything else about it.
I hope she gets her phone back.

As you may have heard somewhere, we are currently developing a new liveCD based on Arch + KDE4, which will be released around the end of this year (or sooner or later, as our motto is "when its done")...
Well, developing progresses and we have already reached some important milestones, but now we have a serious problem: We need a logo and a colorscheme for both our "identity" and the website of the project.
We already have a name for the project, but we are seriously lacking some good artwork skills... To give you an impression of our marvellous skills, here is our current mockup of the logo:

We would like to see ideas from you, the beloved Arch community. We dont have any rules regarding the logo etc, and are completely open about this... So maybe some of the more gifted people can take this above approach and create something awesome for us... As all of our tools also have rather esoteric names (shaman, tribe, more to come ...), maybe the wikipedia entry for chakra could be helpful for inspiration...
If you have any ideas, designs, schemes, whatever, dont hesitate to show us them... If there are some submissions, we will choose the one we like the most, and the creator will of course be mentioned on our website as our "creative director" (CEO is already taken by boom1992, sorry ), together with some of our very descriptive Roles (you can choose them!)

Customer is insisting that I intercept MIGO when a goods rcpt is posted

When a goods receipt posting is saved in transaction MIGO, I need to intercept the save and pop a screen that will allow the user to enter values for some columns that we've added to MSEG in an append structure.
I've tried to convince them to let me write a custom front-end and use a custom version of BAPI_GOODSMVT_CREATE, but they want the customers to keep using MIGO.
If there is no available customer exit or badi in MIGO to do what needs to be done, I will have to create a Z-version of MIGO and do the job there.
But this is something that should never be done.
So can anyone advise how and where to intercept MIGO itself ????

Yes, we actually do something quite similar in our system. The user works in MIGO and when the press save, we throw a dialog box for addtional information, the only difference is is that we are storing in custom table.

Problems selecting paper bin/source with some printers drivers

Hi,
I'm using CR2008 SP2 .NET SDK.
With some printers drivers i'm unable to set the correct paper source in the print options.
For example, if I use Toshiba e-series PLC driver (you can find it here:drivers and select, for example, the e-STUDIO281C printer).
Even if i set the correct paper source on the report designer when i print it through code (without applying any changes to the report) the report is always printed by the default paper source defined at the printer preferences.
The same thing happens when you do it through the designer.
I already tried the following workaround but without any success: at the CR Designer, go to the File Menu, and choose Page Setup. Under Page Options, check the Dissociate Formatting Page Size and Printer Paper Size. This often helps with these issues. Resave the report, and see if that works any better.
Is there any known issues with printer drivers and CR2008?

Oops, sorry my mistake. I'll leave it here for now.
How CR works is to get the Printer info from the DEVMODE structure, which is where the printer driver settings and configurations are saved for each printer installed.
What I've seen plenty of times before is within the DEVMODE structure there is one area called DMExtra and in that structure it holds various custom options. Quite often the issue is we query that structure to get info but the problem lies in the driver returning an invalid structure size and therefore CR can't use any custom settings.
Same type of issue if they use an uncommon (ENUM) value for the paper size. In code you can see this in debug mode. But if you simply pass the values as pointers and not attempt to alter them at all CR should not alter what the designer used and saved in the RPT file when the reprot was designed.
What can happen when CR loads the printer info it fails due to problems with the printer itself. There are missing files from the install of the printer which cause Crystal to stop getting the info.
Try this on a clean PC with no other printers installed, Install just that printer driver and then install Crystal Reports. If it still fails then we know it could be Crystal having problems with that driver. You may want to post your issue with the printer manufacturer also. They may be able to test also and determine if it is a CR or their driver issue. They can download a trial version of CR for testing.

If that's not an option you could purchase a support case here for one of our Engineers to escalate to R&D. If it turns out to be a CR problem then you'll get a credit for the case, if it is a printer driver problem then no credit.

Be sure to tell them it needs to go to the Report Designer team first.
There is also a possibilty their driver has issue with Windows OS and the .NET framework. Crystal reports is also UNICODE compliant so the printer driver would have a better success rate if their driver was also unicode compliant.
Bottom line is if it doesn't work in Crystal Designer it won't work in code either.

My hardware is :-
PCI MIO 16E-1 - 1 no.
SCXI-1000 chassis - 1 no.
SCXI-1520 - 4 nos.
SCXI-1314 - 4 nos.
MAX is showing all hardware ( DAQ card + Chassis + SCXIs), set in Multiplexer mode.
I am using MAX task to configure channels ( as per requirement ) and then use the same task in Labview 7.1
When I am trying to generate task only for connected channels then reading are coming some times....... but when i generate task for all channels including (not connected channels) then the reading are either on - side or on + side (max or min).
I have tried to ground the +S but not work
tell me some solution

No, DAQmx is superior and I strongly recommend you used DAQmx

What happens is if you scan only the channels to which sensors/strain gauges are connected, all is fine and you get good strain readings.
But if you happen to include an unconnected channel into the scan list, all the subsequent channels after the open channel will show saturated readings.

The problem we found, lies in the settling time of the E series DAQ card's ADC. Even we were using PXI 6071 E
Once the ADC saturates on reading an open channel, it cannot settle fast enough to read the next channel.Hence, the next channel also reads saturated value, instead of the correct value.
This is irrespective of the sampling rate because, this happened even when we did continuous sampling at low scan rates of 10 to 100 samples /sec
We found 2 solutions to this problem
Disable Simultaneous sampling and hold for the SCXI 1520 module ( using a DAQmx property node)
Use a M series DAQcard, which did not have this settling time problem

The common census by the old timers on the forum is that you should not have any AV software on your Mac cause its not needed, yet the forums are full of people that have been infected with Malware which the same people help clean afterwards.
This totally befuddles me. I take care of quite a few macs and in the past few years have installed Anti Virus software on them and other than Sophos not catching the latest kinds of Malware that are out in the wild, I have not experienced any of the problems that the so called experts claim that they do.
Over the past few months I have migrated over 50 Macs from using Sophos to now using aVast Free Anti Virus for Mac. Other than getting more alerts of Windows viruses being found in Mail there has been no downside whatsover.
I believe in the old saying that an ounce of prevention is worth more than a pound of cure. So with that I will recommend that you should have some sort of Anti Virus software on your Mac. As I said prior, for now I an recommending avast Anti Virus for Mac. This will protect your Mac from getting infected with malware before you have to come back and ask the experts here how to fix your Mac and get rid of the malware.
When doing a scan I recommend that you only have it set to only show infections. Since it cannot read some compressed files and reports them as an error.

When will Vista drivers be available for the M400?

I have a "Windows Vista Capable" M400 but some of the XP drivers do not work on Vista. The most annoying is the fingerprint software. When can we expect to see Vista compatible drivers?

Yes I'm aware that it is not officially released, but I am on the Beta test programme, so have had Vista for some months now.
The M400 is advertised as Vista Capable, therefore I would exepect some Vista drivers to be available, even if they are in Beta?
I guess I will have to wait until Decemeber/January!

Learning PS Touch: what are some good resources?

I'm getting my Nexus 7 tablet this week and intend to install PS Touch on it for photo editing. Besides the Youtube videos I've seen from Adobe, what are some good resources for learning this app?
As an aside, based on just a cursorary look at PS vidoes, it seems that the videos are just barely touching on the tools and features of this app. It would be good to know if there are some resources that are more complete and detailed.

Hello Unix world, i'm very new to the world of Unix. Just got a sunblade (with solaris 10), and i'm in the process of putting it on a x86 machine also.
What are some good books out there for someone like me? I took linux 101 in college, but thats about it. I''m looking for a book(s)
to take me from the position that i'm currently in (equivalent to my mom on windows), and put in into a position where i will be able to take a few Certifications(solaris 10).

On hands experience is always good, when it comes to books i'ld recommend any O'Reilly book, like their "UNIX in a nutshell", even if i haven't read it myself i suppose its good :-)

I need some good converting softwares for my 5th gen ipod. i cant find anything to convert my mpegs to mp4 for my gen 5 ipod

I have a Windows machine and I bought Quicktime Pro and it works for the short .mov files my digital cameras create. I tried a bunch of "free" DVD conversion programs, including Videora for iPod with mixed results (I couldn't get Videora to work). Finally, I bought PQDVD for iPod (http://www.pqdvd.com). It was expensive when you compare it to free software ($39.95) BUT you can stick a DVD (that you own of course) in and press a couple of buttons and it makes a video file. The nicest part is it makes very small files (275MB average). It also does it twice to three times as fast as anything else I tried. The movies look and play great on the iPod (except you have to go all the way to the end to stop them, hmmm). So if I pay myself $10 an hour, I'll get my money back pretty quickly. In one night, I got 4 movies moved over to my iPod, no hassles.

What are some good resources for title backgrounds and graphics to support titles?

Like you know when a video plays and a person name appears as they are speaking. Sometimes there is a graphic like bar behind the name. Just to give it some life. I know I can easily make a simple bar but is there a place I can find graphics for video like this?
Maybe with some animations?
Or in general some good tools for video editors.

You may want to learn how to do such things in After Effects. There are lots of tutorials around the internet on how to do that. Specifically, check out the "Fractal Noise" effect. You can make a wide variety of background very quickly with that effect.
