Creative X-FI xtrememusic Vista 32Bit Can only record Left chan

I seem to be have a major recording problem, when i select (REC)Line-in the recording output level only shows through the Left speaker (No signal on the right channel), even though the sound is coming through both speakers. I cannot get it to record in stereo, it will only record on the left speaker channel. If i change the REC to misrophone i have major Distortion no matter how much i decrease the input level.
Everything else is fine but i cannot work out what i am doing wrong. I'm getting input on both channels but when recording its only recording through the left channel. Please help us
My setup:
Vista ultimate 32bit
Soundblaster x-fi xtrememusic sound card
lated vista drivers : Vista Driver 2.5.0004
Inputs used : guitar and microphone.
standard 2 stereo spreaker setup L/R
I've also tried the drivers on the CD and the BETA drivers but i'm still having problem recording in stereo. the input is only showing the left channel when recording.

Try saving the file to your desktop or someplace, then run the installer instead of opening it when you start the download.

SB Audigy 2 Platinum only recording left chan

I am attampting to do some custom mixing doing some voice-over for a narrated program.
Listening with headphones as I record all sounds fine, however, when I play the recording I only have left channel content. I did notice that the record level indicates that there is only a left channel component. I've checked all my presets and I'm set to record MP3 Stereo and can't find any other settings which could be muting the right channel.
I'd appreciate some guidance.

If you are using the Mic/Line in 2 on the platinum dri've you will want to set the volume control on it to microphone (turn the volume up to where you want it...all the way down till it clicks sets it to line in mode) as in line in mode it records in stereo mode (both channels are recorded and since most mics are mono then you end up with only one channel) but in Microphone mode it records it as a mono input that is panned to center so it plays back in both channels.

You have two basic options. One is to use a commercial screen recording app with access to system audio built into the app and the other is to add a system extension like SoundFlower that allows the QT X screen recorder to access/record the system audio. I use the former so I am not that familiar with SoundFlower but there should be several posts to this forum covering this topic.

Can only record 5 second videos

My wife's incredible only records 4-5 second videos can anyone help us. I have tried settings and must not be doing right because my Fascinate I do long ones with no problem. Have incredible on lowest resolution and will only record 5 seconds

AUX 2 (stereo RCA) on Audigy 2 ZS Platinum only records left chann

As the title states, I can only get a signal through the left channel of the AUX 2 input (stereo RCA inputs on the front panel). I know for sure that both the left and right input channels are carrying a signal, because if I plug in the R channel into the L input, I get signal. I'm pretty sure this was working in the past, but I can't be certain. Is there a setting somewhere to enable stereo playback/recording through AUX 2? I'm pretty sure it should be there by default, so I have a feeling something is wrong with my card/front panel. I verified that the ribbon cable is firmly connected on both ends. Any ideas?

Audition only recording left channel?

Hi Guys,
I'm recording some records and while looking at the wav form I noticed that audition was only recording the left cahnnel but in stereo (both channels) I've looked at everything else and audition has got to be it. Recording is fine using Cool edit 2.0 but in audition 3 this is happening? Any info out there on this?
Also, in my recording travels. I tried recording through USB but found that the wave file looked somewhat compressed and unnatural. Looks great through a soundcard but through usb it looked very strange. is this natural?

Check in the Audio hardware Setup page that you have correctly selected the stereo input. The drop down list that Audition usually list the Mono inputs first ie. 01M, 02M etc.. You need to look further down the list and select the appropriate stereo inputs usually numbered 01S, 02S etc. depending on your audio interface.

X-Fi xtrememusic vista 32bit NO SOU

i've set up the xtrememusic x-fi card on my PC running on vista, and installed the vista driver, however there is no sound output. On 'playback devices' within the windows volume mixer, everything looks ok and when i play a sound file the green bars light up. I've tried plugging in headphones & my speakers but there is no sound output. I've looked around the support section of the website and it suggest changing settings on something called the 'creative surround mixer, but the only thing i have is something called "Audio Console". I'm using 2 analogue speakers/ or headphones. Any ideas how i can get my sound working!

Dont have a problem with it. Its your system...
Best is to reinstall vista from scartch, appliing service pack on it, and the install creative drivers. Turn DEP on for all programs.
Dont turn off UAC and driver signature verfification. Vista runs best without tweaking around.

T400 DVD RW recording problem, can only record via win7 explorer

After upgrading the T400 from Vista business to Win7 pro,
all my cd/dvd recording software solutions do not seem to work any more.
Nero, Ultimateburner, cdburnerxp , deepburner +++ all can see the
HL-DT-STDVDram GSA-u20n hx12 drive
but can not burn anything. Finds it to e a Read only Drive ?
However, win7 explorer can burn files etc
without any problem. Never ever had this problem before.
Anyone else had tis problem ?
I've tried to locate an updated driver but have not suceeded yet
All hints and ideas are very welcome.

Urgent: Can Only Record in Demonstration Mode

When I try to record, I can choose from any of the recording
modes, but it only outputs in demonstration mode (i.e., no text
entry boxes are recorded from keystokes). I noticed that when I
check the settings in the recording window, it will always default
to demonstration mode no matter which mode I choose after hitting
ok. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Perhaps consider performing the factory reset. Close
Captivate and open Windows Explorer. Then navigate to the following
folder on your PC:
C:\Documents and Settings\????\Application Data\Adobe\Adobe
Captivate
*NOTE: Replace ???? with your logged in user name.
Once you are there you should see a file named
Captivate_v30.dat. Delete this file and restart Captivate.
Captivate will bake up a fresh one when it restarts.
If you are reluctant to delete the file, just rename it
instead. The goal is to get it where Captivate can't find it. If it
can't find it, it creates a new one.

How can I record left track onto right track ?

I have an old tape recording that is in mono on the left channel only.
I would like to to record the left channel on the the blank right channel so that there is a natural center channel output .
I have Toast 6 with jam but there is nothing that enables the transfer.

Ok I got the mono track and transferred it to itunes just fine.
However now I find that I can not do anything to it thru toast or jam
I wanted to clean it up (static) and cut the beginning, Toast 6 will not cut and jam will not accept the file AIFF.
Its not the end of the world because I can go and clean and cut the original and then transfer it thru garage band.
But it is a question in that if you transfer any garage band tune it is in some type of lock position because I also notice that there is no volume info available.

Vista (32bit) and 'what u hear' problem

Hi,
Wonder if anyone has encountered this problem. I usually mess around with sound n stuff and in XP used to record stuff on the fly using what u hear tool.
Since moving to Vista (32bit) whenever i record utilising the 'what you hear' recording setting the recording volume tends to MAX out at 100% regardless of what setting i set it at using the sound controller.
I have the X-Fi Xtreme music edition and am using the latest CL drivers (too afraid to try the M$ WHQL driver update which arri'ved for me today).
I use Adobe Audition .2 to record audio.
Anyone have a work around?

Here's the answer to the WHAT U HEAR problem that just came in today from the wonderful folks at Creative.
"Please be informed that drivers updated from the web will comply with
UAA standards. However, due to Microsoft's new Windows Vista?
architecture, some features may be lost. I regret to inform you that
currently "What U Hear" as recording source is not supported in Windows
Vista."
Doesn't sound very creative to me. I was originally asking about this in regards to a x-fi xtreme audio board but it looks like they've thrown up their arm is surrender to Vista period.
I have managed a fair work around by putting a y connector at my card's speaker out, running a patch cable to my stereo, and then sending it's signal back into the card's line in socket. There's probably a lot of signal loss but it does allow me to use my stereo's reverb and equalizer to good advantage. Good enough for what I'm doing.

Why can I only record 2 tracks at a time ?

Until a couple of months ago I could record 10 tracks at once without a hitch. Then something happened and suddenly I could only record 4 tracks at a time. Now I can only record 2 tracks at once. My logic is completely legal and I'm running a Mac Book pro 2.4 Ghz core 2 duo, 2 GB.
I posted this same questions a couple of months ago without any reply.
I desperatly need help.

Not RAM related.
Record tracks have to be set for individual inputs.
If all your tracks are set to record on inputs 1-2 or Mono 1, Mono 2 you will only have two inputs.
Make sure Universal Track Mode IS selected in Preferences/Audio and that you indeed have the correct audio driver selected. Now go to your tracks and see how many inputs you have available. If you're recording mono tracks set audio tracks 1 and 2 to record using inputs 1 and 2, Audio tracks 3 and 4 to use inputs 3 and 4, stereo tracks will use both inputs.

First turn off all caps it's considered rude and as if your shouting.
try a reset, no data loss. hold down the home/sleep button together until you see the apple logo and then release, then wait until your phone boots back up.
then check voice memo again.

Audigy 2 zs diagnostics: only front left & right sound on megaworks 550

When I test the speakers with creative thx console, creative diagnostics or spekaers settings, I can hear front left and right sound on my 5. system for EVERY channel that is tested. All the software is updated and speakers are connected in the right way.
If i try playing games, it's impossible to select eax sound.
Problems started when I've uninstalled drivers of my old SB PCI28 sound card after the installation of new audigy drivers. Before uninstalling pci28 drivers everything was working ok.
I tried to uninstall and reinstall all the software but nothing changed. HELP!!

You said you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the software, did you uninstall the drivers aswell then? Try a cleansweep, more details are in the FAQ.
If it's not letting you select EAX then it sounds like the card isn't installed correctly, or isn't recognised correctly. Check in Device Manager and see if there is any mention of the card there, and if there are any error messages/error codes.

Can i record with more than one audio interface

I need to record 16 tracks, I have two different audio iterface, in GarageBand i can only find one of them, if i go to prefrenses-audio, I can set any of them as my audio interface, but only one at the time.
Any tips to how I can use bouth simultanious? Cubase, Logic mabye, GarageBand no can do? :-)
