Got a Creative ZEN 20GB (DAP-HD005) and recently bought a new computer with Windows 7. Where can I find a driver as the one I have is not compatible?

Creative Zen 20GB on Windows 7?

Just got a new PC and the install disk for my Creative Zen 20GB just bombs out. I've tried downloading MediaSource Player/Organiser installs but when i run them just get an error message as the original version isn't on e.g. if i download 5.x complains 5 isn't on.
So question is are the full Player/Organizer's available to download, and if so will they work on Windows 7? any help greatly appreciated, I know the old girl is a bit long in the tooth now but she's served me well and would like to avoid buying something new ;-)

1. I don't have immediate and easy access to an XP machine right now. However, when I do, it will definitely be an XP machine running XP (SP3). I assume that your SP2 requirement meant SP2 and above. Correct?
There were some feedback from other members before (you can use the search function and type in "zen touch vista") that they were having a hard time updating the player on SP3. Check this Kbase article, SP2 is explicitly written on the instructions.
Having said that, If it's possible for you to update it on an SP2 machine, it would be much better so you can stay away with the hassle.
2. I was going to attempt to install the XP drivers in Win XP Compatibility mode. Do you have any experience with this?
3. If #2, didn't work, I was going to install Windows XP Mode on the machine and then try to install the XP drivers and program within the virtual XP machine. Do you have any experience with this?
I haven't experienced this personally but there were other members who tried the same. Check out this post.

I reciently crashed my creative zen (20gb not the touch one) and accidently removed the firmware while in recovery mode. Does anyone know where I can get the firmware for this zen?. I can find others but cannot get them to work on it. I tried the driver in the zen section but It didn't put the firmware back on my player now I am stuck in recovery mode. Please help I WUV my player lol?xx

I bought some months ago by Ebay the .
I happy with this product.
I want now to use ZENcast Organizer.
I installed It and it doesn't recognise the player.

It is written that the ZENcast Organizer Requires an upgrade to PlaysForSure? Firmware.
I didn't find it for my model.

Zen 20Gb (DAP-HD005) is only one or two year old and already it can't benefit of new features or upgrade ...
My understanding now is that in fine, I won't be able to use ZENcast Organizer.

Creative Zen 20gb and Vi

Hey all,
Im searched all over, and cant seem to find a driver that will make my Creative Zen 20gb install on vista ultimate. Does anyone know? The driver CD that came with it wont even run properly, and Vista wont find the driver on it after a pointed to search.
Help would be much appreciated.

Well, Creative have been less than helpful on this issue.. theyre sure that nati've drivers will support this device, but that simply isnt the case.
Then when I mentioned that, they directed me to a useless website which told me the same thing that theyd said before.. and now theyve given up altogether.
Im incredibly disappointed with Creatives customer service, or lack of it. If theyve just not updated the drivers yet, then just say so.. Im not unreasonable.
Times like this I wish Id bought the Ipod.

My Creative Zen 20GB won't turn

Ok, here is the problem. Up until yesterday, my creative zen 20GB (Not Touch, just the normal Creative Zen 20GB) was working fine and i was really happy with it. But then all of a sudden, it wont turn on. The strange thing is, when i plug it into the power adapter, it works, but it won't turn on when i press the power button. Instead, I have to wait for about 4-5 seconds and it turns on by its self, without me pressing anything. And when it does boot up, it acts as if i have just rebooted it, even though I haven't. And if i try to pull out the while it is on, it just shutsdown automatically. The power status icon is that funny little one that means it is fully charged and even if that icon is somehow wrong, and my battery is completely depleted, i had it charging all last night, so it must be at least a bit charged. Another strange thing is that it wont charge or turn on by its self (like it does when i connect it to the mains) when i connect it to the computer.
I have tried re booting and doing a disk cleanup but to no avail. I dont think it could be because i have left it charging because of the sights that i've seen, they all say that lithium ion batterys stop charging when they are fully charged, so i dont think i could have stuffed it by leaving it plugged in.
In summary, I am really stumped, any help would be appreciated but i fear unless it works its self out, i might just have to take it to get repaired.

It would be difficult to determine if it's a confirmed battery problem, sicne the Zen 20GB's battery is built-in. However, from your description, it seems to be a very likely battery problem. Even a possibility of a damaged battery. Hence, I would advise that you call up customer support to determine the true cause of the problem. Oh yes, have you even left your battery fully discharged for say a week or something?

Creative Zen (20GB) - Availabil

I li've in the UK, and am currently deciding on an mp3 player to use both at home (to use with some speakers) and to take around with me. After looking at the Creative products I couldn't decide between the Touch (huge memory) and the Micro (great features and looks amazing!).
However, after seeing the Creative Zen (20GB) on http://www.creative.com/products/product.asp?category=23&subcategory=24&product=59 this appears to be exactly what I am looking for.
After searching where to buy it, it seems that it is only available to buy from Asia, and after emailing Creative, they said that this player 'won't be available on the European market for a long time' and that 'It may take 6 months or more before it will be released'.
I would preferably like to buy a player in the next few weeks, and was wondering if there was ANY WAY in which I could buy this player from Creative (in Asia?)?
If I was to buy it from Asia, would it work EXACTLY the same as it would when it comes out to buy in Europe (i.e. is it made differently for Asia?)?
I would like to buy a player which will store all my CD collection on so it would be preferable to have at least 20GB.
I would definitely like to buy the Zen (20GB) player at some point because it has both players? features, and so if it was not going to be available to me from anywhere would it be advisable to buy the Micro now and then buy the Zen (20GB) when it comes out, so that I can use them together?
Or would it just be best to get the Touch now (although I have heard some bad things about it, and I am attracted to the Micro apart from its memory!)?

I've not heard that the sensitivity is worse on the touch than the micro, just that some people find them both a little tricky to get used too. I've also heard that some people find that if the turn the sensitivity to max (rather than the usual advice of turning it down) that strangely this works better.
I've never heard complaints about the screen display being worse
And my impression is that there seem to be more reliability issues with the micro. (headphone jack for starters)
DISCLAIMER: Having said all that, that is not to say that I am right this is just my impression, others may well think differently (and they may well be right as well )

Problem with Creative Zen Touch DAP-HD0014

Hey,
I have the Creative Zen Touch DAP HD004 as listed in the subject. Version .0.03
In the "Information" part of the player, it lists it as having GB of music available, but in the menu only the 59 default classical music songs appear. (These are not knowingly mine!)
I was wondering whether there was any way to turn the player into Hard Dri've mode to retrieve these songs, or to use some sort of program to view them and put them back onto the player? Everytime I use My Computer to browse the MP3 Player, all that appears are the same 59 songs.
I hope this information can help someone to solve my problem!!

EDIT: I downloaded a trial version of "Notmad Explorer" and I can now see 2590 Data Files. Once I download a full version, is it simple to just conver Data Files into Audio Files?

Creative Zen 20gb (not sleek or anyother type like that) problems with subscription downlo

Does anyone know whether the Zen 20gb can play subscription downloads?I have been trying, and the micro version is almost identical and can do it, i don't know why my player cannot do it.

my zen sleek isn't on the playsforsure list yet it says it on the creative website, but if you download all the tracks into a folder and set windows media player to update the library on that folder, and sync it it should work because mine wasn't working at first on the napster program.
i am probably wrong as for it being able to work because your talking about the zen 20gb but mine wasnt on the napster website ( or whatever you use )

Creative Zen 4GB incompatible with Windows Xp 64b

I cant get my new 4GB zen to work with my Windows XP 64 bit. As far as i am aware i've downloaded all the neccesary drivers from Creative, but still no joy. Upon inserting the CD that came with the Zen i get 'The windows operating system is not supported' and i am unable to see my Creative zen plugged in the 'My computer' display. It could just be me thats missed something blatantly obvious, or am missing a download (If anyone could link the drivers, just incase i've missed something id be most grateful) If anyone could help me out here id be most thankful Cheers Buldyman

I have 2 8G Zens and a 4G Zen and they all seem fine under Vista 64bit, but I've not tried them under XP 64bit.
Do they show up as devices in the device manager with an exclamation point?
I did notice under 32bit XP that they showed up as MTP devices until I installed WMP (Windows Media Player) . After that, they simply showed up like a USB dri've which is what I wanted. If you are still running an older version of WMP, upgrading to the latest version () may help.

Creative Zen (20GB) WHERE IS IT?

I don't want the Zen Micro, or the Zen Touch, or any other Zen except for the "original" Creative Zen. That's it, a simple Zen... The one that looks like the micro, but has 20GB of storage space! It's advertised on your site, but I have no idea where to get it... I've been to stores and checked the site, but it's unavailable. Maybe it's just out in another country. Is it even available in North America? If not, will it be out anytime soon?

I guess it is only in Asia. Other electronics makers also tend to release models first in Asia then perhaps later they release them in the US, or perhaps some are never released in the US. I guess Asians tend to be more willing to pay high prices for the latest and the greatest than people in North America or Europe, so if there is a very limited supply of something, it might only be available in Asia.

Creative Zen Portable Media Center + Windows 7 = Good Stuff

Found my old Creative Zen Portable Media Center the other day while cleaning. I had put it aside since I found the process of moving/converting AVIs to it really cumbersome. Just for fun I hooked it up to my new laptop running Windows 7. It found the device instantly and loaded drivers.
Then came the best part, from Windows Media Center I am now effortlessly able to move my AVI movie files onto the
Creative Zen Portable Media Center. Mind you, they still get converted but all that happens in Windows Media Center, no more wonky 3rd party stuff.
Then I was able to play those movie files on my Creative Zen Portable Media Center. Yes, woohoo!? I don't have to donate it after all.

My Creative Zen wont download on Windows Vis

I have recently purchased a toshiba notebook laptop. I have a Creative Zen but I cant download the software onto Windows Vista I have a disk it loads up the creative logo then nothing else and when I put the mp3 player into usb port it tries to download the sofware but asks me to put the disk in but obviously nothing what do i do?

Come on guys. Can anyone pls shed some light on this matter?
