Creative Zen (20GB) WHERE IS IT?

I don't want the Zen Micro, or the Zen Touch, or any other Zen except for the "original" Creative Zen. That's it, a simple Zen... The one that looks like the micro, but has 20GB of storage space! It's advertised on your site, but I have no idea where to get it... I've been to stores and checked the site, but it's unavailable. Maybe it's just out in another country. Is it even available in North America? If not, will it be out anytime soon?

I guess it is only in Asia. Other electronics makers also tend to release models first in Asia then perhaps later they release them in the US, or perhaps some are never released in the US. I guess Asians tend to be more willing to pay high prices for the latest and the greatest than people in North America or Europe, so if there is a very limited supply of something, it might only be available in Asia.

I reciently crashed my creative zen (20gb not the touch one) and accidently removed the firmware while in recovery mode. Does anyone know where I can get the firmware for this zen?. I can find others but cannot get them to work on it. I tried the driver in the zen section but It didn't put the firmware back on my player now I am stuck in recovery mode. Please help I WUV my player lol?xx

Zen 20gb where is my mus

I have a creative zen 20gb and all was fine until today when after ripping some tracks from a cd to it now when i go in there it says there are no tracks on the player. I have approximately 5gb worth of music on there - but they are not showing up when I go into the player (either normally or through the computer). Can anybody tell me where they have gone and why I can't play them please The memory is still showing up as being used and I am really confused.

Creative Zen (20GB) - Availabil

Hi,
I li've in the UK, and am currently deciding on an mp3 player to use both at home (to use with some speakers) and to take around with me. After looking at the Creative products I couldn't decide between the Touch (huge memory) and the Micro (great features and looks amazing!).
However, after seeing the Creative Zen (20GB) on http://www.creative.com/products/product.asp?category=23&subcategory=24&product=59 this appears to be exactly what I am looking for.
After searching where to buy it, it seems that it is only available to buy from Asia, and after emailing Creative, they said that this player 'won't be available on the European market for a long time' and that 'It may take 6 months or more before it will be released'.
I would preferably like to buy a player in the next few weeks, and was wondering if there was ANY WAY in which I could buy this player from Creative (in Asia?)?
If I was to buy it from Asia, would it work EXACTLY the same as it would when it comes out to buy in Europe (i.e. is it made differently for Asia?)?
I would like to buy a player which will store all my CD collection on so it would be preferable to have at least 20GB.
I would definitely like to buy the Zen (20GB) player at some point because it has both players? features, and so if it was not going to be available to me from anywhere would it be advisable to buy the Micro now and then buy the Zen (20GB) when it comes out, so that I can use them together?
Or would it just be best to get the Touch now (although I have heard some bad things about it, and I am attracted to the Micro apart from its memory!)?

I've not heard that the sensitivity is worse on the touch than the micro, just that some people find them both a little tricky to get used too. I've also heard that some people find that if the turn the sensitivity to max (rather than the usual advice of turning it down) that strangely this works better.
I've never heard complaints about the screen display being worse
And my impression is that there seem to be more reliability issues with the micro. (headphone jack for starters)
DISCLAIMER: Having said all that, that is not to say that I am right this is just my impression, others may well think differently (and they may well be right as well )

Creative Zen 20gb and Vi

Hey all,
Im searched all over, and cant seem to find a driver that will make my Creative Zen 20gb install on vista ultimate. Does anyone know? The driver CD that came with it wont even run properly, and Vista wont find the driver on it after a pointed to search.
Help would be much appreciated.

Well, Creative have been less than helpful on this issue.. theyre sure that nati've drivers will support this device, but that simply isnt the case.
Then when I mentioned that, they directed me to a useless website which told me the same thing that theyd said before.. and now theyve given up altogether.
Im incredibly disappointed with Creatives customer service, or lack of it. If theyve just not updated the drivers yet, then just say so.. Im not unreasonable.
Times like this I wish Id bought the Ipod.

Creative Zen 20GB on Windows 7?

Just got a new PC and the install disk for my Creative Zen 20GB just bombs out. I've tried downloading MediaSource Player/Organiser installs but when i run them just get an error message as the original version isn't on e.g. if i download 5.x complains 5 isn't on.
So question is are the full Player/Organizer's available to download, and if so will they work on Windows 7? any help greatly appreciated, I know the old girl is a bit long in the tooth now but she's served me well and would like to avoid buying something new ;-)

1. I don't have immediate and easy access to an XP machine right now. However, when I do, it will definitely be an XP machine running XP (SP3). I assume that your SP2 requirement meant SP2 and above. Correct?
There were some feedback from other members before (you can use the search function and type in "zen touch vista") that they were having a hard time updating the player on SP3. Check this Kbase article, SP2 is explicitly written on the instructions.
Having said that, If it's possible for you to update it on an SP2 machine, it would be much better so you can stay away with the hassle.
2. I was going to attempt to install the XP drivers in Win XP Compatibility mode. Do you have any experience with this?
3. If #2, didn't work, I was going to install Windows XP Mode on the machine and then try to install the XP drivers and program within the virtual XP machine. Do you have any experience with this?
I haven't experienced this personally but there were other members who tried the same. Check out this post.

My Creative Zen 20GB won't turn

Ok, here is the problem. Up until yesterday, my creative zen 20GB (Not Touch, just the normal Creative Zen 20GB) was working fine and i was really happy with it. But then all of a sudden, it wont turn on. The strange thing is, when i plug it into the power adapter, it works, but it won't turn on when i press the power button. Instead, I have to wait for about 4-5 seconds and it turns on by its self, without me pressing anything. And when it does boot up, it acts as if i have just rebooted it, even though I haven't. And if i try to pull out the while it is on, it just shutsdown automatically. The power status icon is that funny little one that means it is fully charged and even if that icon is somehow wrong, and my battery is completely depleted, i had it charging all last night, so it must be at least a bit charged. Another strange thing is that it wont charge or turn on by its self (like it does when i connect it to the mains) when i connect it to the computer.
I have tried re booting and doing a disk cleanup but to no avail. I dont think it could be because i have left it charging because of the sights that i've seen, they all say that lithium ion batterys stop charging when they are fully charged, so i dont think i could have stuffed it by leaving it plugged in.
In summary, I am really stumped, any help would be appreciated but i fear unless it works its self out, i might just have to take it to get repaired.

p.s please be quick in replying as i leave for holidays tomorrow and i wont be able to get to a computer for a while so i would love to have this resolved by tommorow

It would be difficult to determine if it's a confirmed battery problem, sicne the Zen 20GB's battery is built-in. However, from your description, it seems to be a very likely battery problem. Even a possibility of a damaged battery. Hence, I would advise that you call up customer support to determine the true cause of the problem. Oh yes, have you even left your battery fully discharged for say a week or something?

Creative zen 20gb firmware frustrat

Good Morning,?I successfully purchased and successfully managed to get the creative zen mp3 player home but that's about where it has ended. Everytime I power up the device the "firmware problem" appears on the screen. I have downloaded the latest firmware from the creative website both on my laptop and on a mates pc. That is do-able but when it asks me to connect my player to the laptop or pc via the usb it does not recognize it whatsoever and just sits there with the window still asking for me to connect the player. It seems like a catch 22 where that the "firmware problem" mesage is stopping me being able to connect ot the laptop/pc but to be able to fix the problem I need to download the latest firmware to the player. I dont have vista or windows media player , as I have read up on that problem that exists. It's been a week now and I am frustrated with it. Can someone point me in the right direction and help turn my paper weight into a music player. Cheers Travman.

EVERYBODY.... IT MIGHT BE TOO LATE BUT DONT TRY WIPING AND REFORMATTING YOUR PLAYERsame thing happening to me my nomad juke zen nx has worked flawlessly for years until a couple of days ago with all kinds of SW issues cropping up when i went to put more music in( not being recognized / connecting and then disappearing / unable to view the players song library when connected / saying its connected one moment and gone the next )...the list goes onwent thru all of their fixs ie player scan disk no problems....rebooted...nuthin.....reformatted and wiped the dri've to start from zero and tried to reload the updated firmware and it will not load...it starts (player HD runs about a minute then stops) and then just hangs up for 5-0 minutes and then a popup says either player is not connected or on restart or connect the playerverified I have all the latest software and drivers so it must be a windows update kill your app fix. I?know the feeling that I now have an expensi've brick sitting on my desk...and im starting to jones @ work due to no tunes....on the other hand I have been looking at upgrading to a higher capacity player Wolverine makes 80 and 00 gig boxs so it might be time to kick creative to the curb!?

Creative Zen 20gb (not sleek or anyother type like that) problems with subscription downlo

Does anyone know whether the Zen 20gb can play subscription downloads?I have been trying, and the micro version is almost identical and can do it, i don't know why my player cannot do it.

my zen sleek isn't on the playsforsure list yet it says it on the creative website, but if you download all the tracks into a folder and set windows media player to update the library on that folder, and sync it it should work because mine wasn't working at first on the napster program.
i am probably wrong as for it being able to work because your talking about the zen 20gb but mine wasnt on the napster website ( or whatever you use )

Creative Zen 20gb Battery L

I know this has probably been posted before but its difficult to search for "Zen" 20gb because you get zen micros and touch everywhere. I bought my Zen 20gb player last week and today I thought I'd test the battery life because it seems very low. I only used the touch pad once at the start to put albums on the now playing, then I let it play......it lasted only 4hours, without touching the pad once, or skipping a track or anything. After paying 50 pounds for this with a suggested battery life of hours I'm pretty disappointed. Is this a fault or is there any software update for this?Anyone got any pointers?

Did you fully charge the battery after you transferred music to the player?
4 hours seems very low, but check out this page first to see if the advice helps improve the battery life, otherwise I would recommend contacting Customer Support.

My Creative Zen 20GB

I just bought my Creative Zen 20 GB today. I charged it until the "sign" disappeared (I did things according to the manual). However, when I switched it on, it just hung. For quite a long time too and it is still not recovering. I left it to charge further. Can someone pls help me? Thanks!

At what point does it hang? Can you try getting into Recovery Mode?
You don't mention specifically which player you have (or do you have the player that is currently available in Asia called the Zen 20GB?), but it may be covered by this page:

The link given by coach is correct. Just clik on "Zen" and under archieve products, click on "Zen 20GB" and then hit on Next. When the page opens up, look for "Downloads" in the right side under Quick Links.
