Creative zen 4gb won't turn on manually and acting stra

My Creative zen 4gb can only be turned on when I connect it first to the computer, and after that, I can turn it on without the use of a computer. But if I don't use for a few hours, it won't turn on again, and I have to connect it to the computer again ( I can turn it on again, if I had just turned it off though). Even if battery is full, I get the same problem. ?I've also used the recovery tool to update the firmware, nothing's changed.
I've also done a clean up and reboot of the player. I still have the same problem. I've also noticed now, after doing all these things that when I play music, after a few songs, maybe 30-40 minutes after, it turns off by itself, and if I get to turn it on, it'sdoes a rebuilding of the files. ?Any idea how I can fix this? I've only had this player for a month or two only. I haven't done a format though... Thanks.

hello, sorry, i dont think i made myself clear. I meant by pulling on the on button for a split second will either make my device flash a blank white screen, or the side of device will display blue( like it will if the device was on) ?and the sound will fuzz for a sec, but neither of these will result in the device starting up. i just want the wonder if that is normal and will that damage the device.
ps.
i already know The correct way to start up my device is to pull down on the button for 2+ secs.

I've had this m3p player for 3 years. I didn't have many problems until today. I was uploading somefiles the mp3. When i unplugged it of the computer the MP3 player froze. I reseted it and it turned off. I've tried charging it but it seems that it's not charging. I am not able to turn it on and unable to reformat it.

"Re: Ceati've Zen 4GB Won't turn on. You may have to do what I suggested several times . Also a wallcharger would be better. You need to have soldering skills to replace the battery. It is soldered to the board it is doable There are tools for opening the player so as not to damage it. View these videos on self repair of Zen players?video

hi.i bought a creative zen 4gb player last summer in alaska/anchorage(now i am in turkey/ankara) i was using it and was proud of it till the last week.it turned out.i thought that it is out of charge but chargin didn't work.its' screen doesn't even turn on.it does not react when i connect it to the computer.i tried to reset it by the small button in the hole on its' upper side but no,nothing happens.what can i do or do anybody of you know the reason of the problem.if not where can i fix it'splease help?
sorry for posting the same subject in 2 different places but i didn't know where exactly to post it

Couple of things you can try; use a different USB cable (if you have a spare cable), try charging the device on another computer or if you can get hold of a wall charger, much better. If this doesn't work out for you, you can get in touch with support for further assistance. if you are still within year warranty, you can send the unit for repair but i'm not sure how the process works for you since you are currently located in turkey. You can ask support on your options on how to go about the repair/return. Hope this hel

• Creative Zen 32GB won't turn on, won't reset, won't do anyth

1. Make sure to state what player you have, and the firmware version. No idea the firmware version, the Zen won't turn on. I have the Creative Zen 32GB, bought in April, 2008.
2. What you have tried so far to solve the problem.Plugged it in using the USB port to the computer. Tried the reset hole. It won't turn on or respond or do anything.
5. Also add any other information that relates to the problem. The more information you give the more likely the problem will be solved quickly. Last week, I had to do the 'clean up' option after using the reset pin hole and another problem was fixed (that problem was that none of the music files were able to be seen via my computer). Then it worked fine, but now it won't turn on or do anything. The last thing I did was upload songs to it using Explorer, and re-labeling individual tracks by cleaning up names, album names, etc. Help, plz!?

i just got back from the mall.i visited the electroworld branch from which i purchased my zen. i explained to them what my problem is, at first they recharged the player in a usb port in front of me...then they also reformatted it too...told me to stick to the firmware that came with the product..the player responded and thanked them..but hr later, it blacked out again..i came back to the store manager showed him my zen ( he couldnt deny it doesnt have a problem ) and within minutes told me...they are going to give me a replacement. (the diagnosis was AUTO-OFF). they did and im very thankful. right now im charging the new player and hoping...i mean really hoping that this zen works. because im not going to waste my time again even with that warranty. if this zen is defecti've, im gonna li've with its defect..but im going to save up for the fruit's company in my next purchase..better yet why not a new pda...i can play music files in it, watch movies, save medical books etc..

• My Creative Zen 20GB won't turn

Ok, here is the problem. Up until yesterday, my creative zen 20GB (Not Touch, just the normal Creative Zen 20GB) was working fine and i was really happy with it. But then all of a sudden, it wont turn on. The strange thing is, when i plug it into the power adapter, it works, but it won't turn on when i press the power button. Instead, I have to wait for about 4-5 seconds and it turns on by its self, without me pressing anything. And when it does boot up, it acts as if i have just rebooted it, even though I haven't. And if i try to pull out the while it is on, it just shutsdown automatically. The power status icon is that funny little one that means it is fully charged and even if that icon is somehow wrong, and my battery is completely depleted, i had it charging all last night, so it must be at least a bit charged. Another strange thing is that it wont charge or turn on by its self (like it does when i connect it to the mains) when i connect it to the computer.
I have tried re booting and doing a disk cleanup but to no avail. I dont think it could be because i have left it charging because of the sights that i've seen, they all say that lithium ion batterys stop charging when they are fully charged, so i dont think i could have stuffed it by leaving it plugged in.
In summary, I am really stumped, any help would be appreciated but i fear unless it works its self out, i might just have to take it to get repaired.
Thanks
Nik
p.s please be quick in replying as i leave for holidays tomorrow and i wont be able to get to a computer for a while so i would love to have this resolved by tommorow

It would be difficult to determine if it's a confirmed battery problem, sicne the Zen 20GB's battery is built-in. However, from your description, it seems to be a very likely battery problem. Even a possibility of a damaged battery. Hence, I would advise that you call up customer support to determine the true cause of the problem. Oh yes, have you even left your battery fully discharged for say a week or something?

Creative Zen Micro -
When I plug the usb into a computer, it has the charge icon in the top right corner of the screen. If I attemp to turn it on, while plugged in, the creative sceen come on, and then dissapears. When it is not plugged into the computer, I get no repsponse what so ever. I haven't attmpted to reset it. Any ideas? Thanks for your time.

Try starting the player into Recovery Mode, see if that works:
Ensure that the Zen Micro is turned off.
Remove the battery.
Move and hold the Power button to the Power On position and re-insert the battery to the Zen Micro. Hold the Power button until the rescue mode appears.
The following options will be displayed:
) Clean Up (Performs a disk scan on the players harddisk)
2) Format All (Formats the players harddisk - Note: all contents will be lost)
3) Reload OS (Reloads the Operating System on the Jukebox. Note: Reloading your OS, will not effect the contents of the files stored on your Zen Micro) Caution: Do not select this option until a firmware update has been downloaded onto the PC
4) Reboot (Reboots the device).
If you can get into Recovery Mode, try the Clean Up first.

• Creative Zen 8GB won't turn on or charge

? I first bought my Creative Zen approximately 2 years ago in Dixon's in Dublin. It was almost a year old when it stopped turning on and charging. Dixon's promptly replaced this player.
The replacement player was about 3 months old when the radio stopped working, around the time of a firmware upgrade, so I assumed this was the cause of the problem and that it would be fixed in a later firmware upgrade, so I ignored it.
In the last week th player has stopped working, in similar circumstances to the first one. I have purchased many Creative mp3 players for family and friends as gifts, since the 258MB MuVo TX FM, which survi'ved a trip through a washing machine. Presently there are two Zen V Plus players and multiple Travelsound units in my house and I don't particularly want to charge brand loyalty.
I believe the player is no longer in warranty, so what are my options as regards getting it repaired?

, Have you tried all the trouble shooting suggestions? http://forums.creative.com/creativel...thread.id=2477? If so this Ebay seller has a repair listing. They are in Scotland http://cgi.ebay.com/CREATIVE-ZEN-MP3...634.c0.m4.l262

• Help! My creative zen micro won't turn on/charge/anythi

The last time I turned it on, it showed the CREATIVE logo and stayed like that until the battery died (It may have been around 2 hours or so...) but now it won't turn on, it won't show the blue lights when it's plugged in (and yes, it's plugged in properly) and I can't access it from my computer.
Please help!!

First thing to try is connecting to another PC. What's happened is the battery is flat, but I assume that it should recharge from flat even via USB.

• Creative Zen 4gb, is it supposed to turn off the display to save the batte

I just bought a Creative Zen 4gb, is it supposed to turn off the display when I'm listening to songs?to save the battery?
Mine doesn't. It just goes dim.

Yes, it is possible. On the right hand side of the player is the slider to turn on the player, push the slider upwards to the lock position and the screen will turn off. That is the Hold mode. At this mode, all the buttons would be inaccessible to prevent accidental pressing of the buttons. This is the mode to use when you are just playing music and do not need the display.
To unhold the player, just push the slider to the middle position and all the way down to turn it off.

• Creative Zen 8gb won't respond and just flashes blue li

Hi,
My 8gb creative zen mp3 player won't turn on and is not responsi've at all. The only response I get is when I plug it into the computer, where a faint blinking blue light flashes near the power button. However, even this blue light stops flashing after a period of time. I've tried resetting the mp3 player, and I've left it plugged to the computer to recharge if that was the problem, but still nothing.
Computer does not detect a playing device either.
Any help would be great!

• Creative ZEN 4GB is not connecting with

Hello Everybody!
I've bought CREATIVE ZEN 4GB mp3 player, and after some two months, i can not connect the player with pc. So i reinstalled my windows, because i thought it was some problems with whem. After installation, everything worked twice, and then, is the same problem happened. So i reinstalled windows a second time, but doesn't matter, how many times i reinstall them, it's same problem. After that, i've tried to contact costumer support, but all they tried to help me, was unsuccessful. So few weeks ago, i deleted the MTP Device from "device manager" And now, all the time i have a bubble on the left lower side at the screen, with a note: "Found New Hardware: MTP Device" And i can't turn it of, every time i do that, it shows again. At device manager, on MTP device i have yellow exclamation mark. When i'am trying to update driver, i have this error: There was a problem installing this hardware: MTP Device.
This Device Cannot Start (Code0)
The only thing i can do, charge my mp3 player. And sometimes i using the player on the really old computer, and its works properly, but the worst thing, that the old computer is not mine anymore, so i can't do anything with a mp3 player.
So if someone, has problem like this, and someone, who resolved it, please help me. I like this player very much, and i dont want to change it.
Thank You!

• Creative ZEN 4gb compatible with Creative MediaSource

• Creative Zen 4GB bad memory sector

"Creative Zen 4GB bad memory sectork After a few months benI'venoticing that trying to load more media into my Zen gives errors like "Not enough space on disk" or "An unknown erroroccurred". This happened when I load files, it gets to around the 2.GB mark, and then files don'ttransferto it. I've tried formatting via the Zen onboard formatter, formatting it though the computer, uploading files though the onboard SD importer and though the computer. Ibelievethat a sector of my flash memory has died. I want to try and do a zero-out of the data, much like on a regular hard dri've, in witch this feels like the only option. But I don't know a way because of the fun limitations ofMTP. And I'vebengoogling for months on how to fix this, but nothingusefulhas been dug up. Is there a way to fix the broken sector I have Macs, most WindowsMachinesand Linuxmachines, so I have no platform limitations. I would like for it to be as easy as a full formatinsteadof the quick-formats it seems to perform every time I try a conventional format.
Thanks, Zack

If all else failed (format and clean up), you may need to call tech support and send in the device for repair. The cost however is quite expensi've for out of warranty repair/replacement. :smileyindifferent:

• My Zen Touch won't turn on or char

My Zen Touch won't turn on, nor will it charge.
Here's what happened:
. I hadn't used it for about a week
2. I try to turn it on, and nothing happens. It's not locked.
3. I plug it into the charger and nothing happens.
4. I reset it, and the title screen appears. I wait for the title screen to disappear, but it doesn't. It doesn't charge either.
5. I take out the charger and it turns off! I try to turn it back on and still nothing happens.
6. I plug the charger back in and, yet again, the title screen appears but doesn't change or charge.
It seems like the battery life has run out, but it won't charge.
WHAT CAN I DO!?

Nevermind, I just went and checked my mp3 player (I left it on the charger) and now it is charging. I conclude that the battery was dead and I was just impatient :P
Thanks anyway.
