Creative Zen 6GB - Battery Sign on display.

I had my Creative Zen fully charged and then did not use it for approx. 4-5 days.....when I turned it on the battery sign on the display showed me that the battery was almost EMPTY!!! How is this possible ? Do I have to charge that thing every other day even if it's not on? I think that's strange. Any of you guys have a similar experience? Otherwise everything works as it's supposed to.
Thanks

If you read around in the forums you'll learn that it is a proven issue with the Zen Micro and its standby vs. deep sleep mode.. Creative is coming out with a firmware update within the next month to cure this problem of excessi've battery consumption by lowering the standby mode from 24 hours to 4 hours.
(When in standby mode, the Zen Micro has to be ready at any moment for playback when it is turned back on, thus allowing the shutoff of the player in the middle of a song, whether playing or paused, and the return of you to that exact spot you left off.. this 'quick boot' feature is stored in the player's memory, and to keep it there the player has to constantly consume power.. whereas in deep sleep mode, the player has to hard boot for about 5 seconds (and not return you to the middle of any song), which is what will happen after 24 hours of the player being off.. however, in deep sleep mode the player needs not be 'ready for action' at any moment, thus saving a great deal of battery life. Four hours should be a lot more helpful than 24 when the change goes into effect.)Message Edited by Zoinbergs on 04-29-2005 03:34 AM

  • Creative Zen Touch Battery Drain

I need to drain the battery of my Zen Touch completely. It has a nasty habit (well this is the third one in a row now in 5 months) of freezing and not allowing me to select any options in the recovery menu, or going past the Zen Touch startup screen:angry:.
Anywhoo... I need to drain the battery completely because I have the sneaking suspicion that its stuck in a loop that cant be broken by reset (which I have tried), or screaming at it :-)
But I digress. I run it down so it switches itself off, and when you press the power button it flashes 3 times. This to me indicates it still has power in it.
Question - "How long till this "internal" power is used up?"
Question 2- "Is there anyway I can drain the fukker quicker than letting it sit idle for a couple of days?"
Cheers Ears for the Suggestions anyon might care to share.

I very very very much doubt that flattening the battery will solve the issue.
But, the player goes into a standby mode for 24 hours. After this it will go into a full shutdown, which you'll be able to spot due to the increased bootup time.
The absolute fastest way to drain the battery is to download/upload tracks to/from it. This hammers the hard disk which is the biggest battery consumer.
And please try to keep the language clean...

  • Creative Zen 20gb Battery L

I know this has probably been posted before but its difficult to search for "Zen" 20gb because you get zen micros and touch everywhere. I bought my Zen 20gb player last week and today I thought I'd test the battery life because it seems very low. I only used the touch pad once at the start to put albums on the now playing, then I let it play......it lasted only 4hours, without touching the pad once, or skipping a track or anything. After paying 50 pounds for this with a suggested battery life of hours I'm pretty disappointed. Is this a fault or is there any software update for this?Anyone got any pointers?

Did you fully charge the battery after you transferred music to the player?
4 hours seems very low, but check out this page first to see if the advice helps improve the battery life, otherwise I would recommend contacting Customer Support.

  • Creative Zen Micro battery prob

I experienced this at least one time last Monday coming home on the bus turning on my Zen. The battery was completely dead! And I have charged fully the night before. Now I didn't take it with me yesterday because it was raining and I didn't want it wet, and the battery was fully charged the night before yesterday. Now I get home today and I hook-up my Zen to the computer to add some music and I notice that it's completey dead and charging from the "nothingness" of the battery. Whats the problem?

Take out the battery, hold the on/off switch in the on position while inserting the battery.
Do you leave your headphones plugged in to player?

  • Creative Zen Sleek - Battery or Hard Drive dyi

Hi - I've had a Zen Sleek for a little over 2 years now, without too many problems. Until now. The battery seems to only last about 5 hours (previously was 0+), but even more annoying is that it keeps crashing when I try to turn it off, needing a reset, and sometimes even a clean disk and reboot before it will work again. The problem seems worse when the battery is low.
Firmware is up to date (2.0.03), should I try reflashing the firmware, or is this likely to cause more problems?
Any help appreciated. Pleased with the product, but it should not really be dying after only 2 years...
    Thanks

I had the same issue.. use a small pin to reset the player while it is plugged into your computer. the reset switch/hole is next to the data port.

  • Creative Zen (16GB Model) showing incorrect song information

<Creative Zen (6GB Model) showing incorrect song information I was given a Creative Zen for christmas, and I'm very happy with it.
The only thing is, I've noticed that it seems to occasionally display the wrong title for the song it's playing. I have a playlist called RandomAll which I created using the Media Explorer software. Sometimes, when I look down at the player, I'll notice the wrong song information on screen. Not just the title or anything, but completely wrong information. For example, right now, my player is telling my that a Rihanna song is playing, and gives me all the details for that song (including the extended details if I go into the menu). But the song that's actually playing is a cover of Fraggle Rock by Me First & The Gimme Gimmes. It doesn't seem to be the same songs every time or anything like that, so I don't think it's a problem with the files.
Is this an issue that has been noticed by anyone else? Is there anything I can do to fix it's And if not, is it the kind of thing I need to send my player back for?

@ It could be incorrect ID3 tags on your .mp3s, if the source for your music had the wrong ID3 information, your Zen won't show the correct information unless you use an? ID3 Tag Editor to correct the source.

  • Zen Touch Battery Is

    Hi,
Just recently I bought a Zen Touch. I've always charged after the "low battery" sign is displayed, played songs at 92 Kbps, and rarely used equilizer settings. However, I'm still beginning to notice severe shortening of battery life. Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong/what I should do to prevent this? Thanks.Message Edited by t3hggnore on 03-27-200605:32 PM

I agree that comment was totally uncalled for...
Charging the battery when the?battery is totally depleated can do more harm than good especally with the type of battery in these players, I would reccomend that its charged as soon as the battery hits one bar on the display.
Charging via USB is slower compaired to DC charging. If you use a DC adapter when your player's battery is almost depleated then it , charges faster and 2, it's supplying a fair enough voltage and current and also delei'vers a deeper charge compared to USB charging

  • Creative Zen and Linux Compatibili

I am considering buying a new Creative Zen 6GB. One thing that I noticed is under the 'required' field on the Creative site, Windows XP/Vista is listed. I run Ubuntu 7.04 as my primary operating system.
Will the Creative Zen function in a matter such that I will be able to simply drag mp3 files into its folder as it's plugged into my computer? Or will it strictly run only under Windows, forcing me to use some sort of proprietary software?
    Thanks,
    *****lySponge

    I have a ZVP 4GB, and I load it from a Kubuntu 7.04 box.
I use Kaudiocreator to rip, and Amarok to manage the library & download to my ZVP.
One thing to note about disconnecting the ZVP from Amarok. I find it works better to wait until the ZVP's USB icon show no activity and then unplug before pressing the 'Disconnect' button in Amarok. If I use the Amarok disconnect button first, the ZVP seems to get stuck displaying 'Please Wait'. The reset button fixes it though.
You might also find the Medibuntu repositories of use:

If you do end up using Windoze, Use XPSP2 with WMP 0/ or Vista and you can drag & drop in Windows Explorer using the ZVP icon under my computer.Message Edited by daytona955 on 09-9-20070:29 PM

Greetings, NMSX from Spain, world champion's!! hehe

    Hi NMSX,
    Welcome to Creative forums!
See if you can boot your Creative ZEN from the recovery mode. You can find the instructions here. If yes, do a Clean-Up the Reboot. If it won't help, you may need to boot from the recovery mode again and select Format this time. Do note that formatting will delete all the contents of the player so you may need to backup your data first before formatting. If this doesn't help, then this could be a hardware issue. You may need to send it in for repair. Well I remember a similar case before but that was because the user accidentally applied a strong pressure on the player. I'm not saying you have the same scenario but its possible specially if you usually put the player on your pocket.

  • Creative Zen 16GB - increment/sync play cou

Folks;?I'm considering buying a Creative Zen 6GB, and was wondering if it increments the play count of songs as they're played. I'd also like to be able to sync this play count back to the song on my PC. I usually use MediaMonkey but would use WMP or a Zen-specific music manager, if forced to do so. ?Any other comments (pro/con) about this player would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Dunno if it syncs it back to WMP (I've been having some sync challenges I hope I finally have a handle on) or if MediaMonkey will pick it up (installed mm, but am having a crazy time trying to build its database with fun SQL errors), but it does increment the play count in the Zen itself.

  • CREATIVE ZEN 16GB INTERMITTLY SHUTS DOW

    Hi,
I got a Creative Zen 6GB back in Christmas. I like this player very much. But,since the first week I have had this, the slightest touch have been shuting it down!!I would drop in to my pocket of my pants pocket for example or have it in my hands and bump it slightly and it would shut down. When I turn it back on,I would get a message"REBUILDING LIBARY ". It would work fine once that is completed. I then try taping on it with my finger for example and cant duplicate the issue. But,later on like the next day,a slight tap of it with my finger or something and it would shut down again!!Is my unit defecti've?I have the most current, latest firmware upgrade in it now. I know I have had over half a dozen times it would shut down for no reason.Ver .2.0 is the firmware version I currently have.
    Please help.
    Ko

I called Creative about my Zen Vision W shutting down and they recommended I do a cleanup and boot. Once that didn't work they sent me an RMA from and I'll be sending the player back to them. I suggest you do the same. Go into recovery mode and select clean up. Once that's completed see if you're still having problems, which no doubt you will. Do this before you contact Creative because? it will save you having to call them again. Contact Creative and they should send you an RMA form then hopefully another MP3 player which works properly this time. Make sure you find your original invoice or receipt of the MP3 player because Creative need it to verify that it's still under warranty. Expect them to take from 2 to 4 weeks to send it back to you. I would contact them again after two weeks because Creative don't contact you at all about what's happeing, you have to chase them up.
    Hope that hel
    ps.

  • Creative Zen 16GB with iPod USB wall charg

I have a wall charger my wife uses for her iPod. Can I use this to charge my Creative Zen 6GB, or will it burn it out?

It shouldn't burn it out unless there is some sort of major diviation in wiring?from the USB standard. I couldn't imagine Creative or Apple doing such a foolish thing. Best thing to probably do is to give it a try. It should either charge or not charge. All USB should be nominally 5V @400-500 mAh, the AC adapters often deli'ver higher current to enable faster charging. More current won't hurt, the player will only use what it needs.

  • Creative Zen Disconnects Automatical

    Hi, first time poster.
I've done a quick search and can't seem to find this exact problem, apologies if it has already been posted.
I received my Creative Zen 6gb the other day, and it kept disconnecting automatically from my PC. I have tried alternati've usb cables, and different PCs, as I saw some people already suggest, to no avail. The time it takes to disconnect seems to be very random, is it something to do with it being fully charged?
I hoooked it up to my Xbox 360 (via USB) to listen to it while playing, and the same disconnection problem happened. I haven'tdone anything to the players firmware yet, as I wasn't sure how to, and whether it would be neccessary.
    Can anyone help?
    thanks

Could be an intermittent fault in the connection between the USB cable and the Zen, or between the USB cable and the Xbox/PC, or the Zen's USB plug and its mainboard. First, try a new USB cable. If the problem goes away it was a duff cable. If the problem remains then there's a problem on the Zen end of things.

  • Creative Zen Mediasource Version 5.01.27 transfers s

I have a creative Zen Micro 5GB and when I transfer music over creative mediasource version 5.0.27 the files take forever to transfer or they don't transfer at all. I can't update the softwear to the new version of creative mediasource 5, my computer and player wont let me. Is there anything I can do to make my music transfer faster.
*I updated the firmware on my Creative Zen Micro.

Battery cunsumption is also the biggest problem for me ...... 7hrs of music over 4 days is not good (with or without the headphones connected) I will try this new firmware and see if it improves things.

  • Creative Zen bright screen

Few days ago I bought new pmp Creative Zen 6gb. Very good mpm but he has one problem. Some times screen becoming very bright. After reset button all become to normal. Some one had this problem?

Sounds like you screen is busted or the internal connection to it is bad. I'd call Creative and send it back. Sorry to hear that.
